    A counter recovery system for health could help promote a more agressive playstyle too. Like how in some games if you get hit, rather than instantly loosing the health, you have the opportunity to hit back to recover some of the lost health. Usually a chunk of the green health bar is replaced with a red bar that drains down to that chuck. If you hit back, you get to keep your health, the quicker and more aggressively you hit back the more you keep. Run, and you get nothing back.
    You could apply that kind of system to the health, the chaos metre or both. Which would also promote aggressive playstyle and help keep people in the zone. I think both or just health would be the way to go, as applied to health, it will promote aggressive play, even with low chaos. Where are applying it to just chaos, will only reward people who are already high chaos.
    Though I'm not sure if that would work with guns. Maybe only recover with a melee hit.

    Amazing work but…
    Forcing the players to play in a specific play style if a bit wrong. Players will all play differently and some might not be able to play at your level. Players who aren’t able to fill the bar will feel like they are missing out or being punished for not being good enough.
    Instead that bar should be an upgrade the player chooses as a reward or item. Experienced players will pick it for an extra challenge or because of their build, and other players will choose to skip it since they don’t want to engaged with that type of play style or they find it too challenging to keep their bar up.
    Remember, how you play will not always be fun for other other people. Variety is Key!

      During the playtesting phase I saw people build nothing but armor and health in order to tank their way through to the later levels. Taking ages to kill enemies without any damage upgrades. That is just min/maxing the fun out of the experience.
      I'm totally up for variety and letting the player play the way they want, riiiggghhttt up until they try to do things like that and play in a super boring way.
      There's no negative damage multiplier, so whether you get it to the first level or the final level, you'll always do more damage than the base damage. So even for players who can't max out the bar, they're still getting a buff and get to feel the power boost when they hit it. So hopefully that works out so it's a benefit to everyone. 🤞

      Nah, if you want players to play a specific way, there’s nothing wrong with encouraging or rewarding that play style mechanically

      That'll be something we add to the final version. 👍
      If not completely customizable settings, then a few control defaults for people to pick from.(Depending on how much I struggle with completely custom controls. 😅)

    What fills the bar? Is this like a combo meter? Or is it just a timer that's ticking down, so you slowly get weaker as the game goes?

      The bar goes down but if you kill enemies you get chaos things that fill up the meter if I understood it correctly.

      Yup, this is right. Basically a combo meter that drains whenever you're not killing things faster enough.
      Increases your damage when you kill enemies faster. 👍

    Ok, so you want to push people to play aggressively? But what is the benefit besides filling the bar? Some people simply won't care if all it is, is a score multiplier.
    Doom 2016 and Eternal reward aggression with health and ammo. I'm not saying you need to implement that exact system, but something tangible beyond a score would probably be more effective.

      You'll deal higher damage with the bar being more full. 👍
      So the faster you kill, the faster you'll be able to kill, and the more "In the zone" you'll hopefully get. 🤞

      @@HelperWesley Ah, that makes sense. Yeah, seems a good incentive to play aggressively.
      I think some nice additional juice for when your max chaos to make getting up there and staying there feel that extra bit special would be a nice touch.
