Man of little words, but your work says it all. Great video, thanks!
Very straight forward love it thank you
Is there any particular brand of phaser you'd recommend you use or stay away from? And also, if you replace one side, would it be recommended to do the other?
Thank you for the video. Did you have to remove any of those coolant bypass lines on the passenger side?
Great video!!! Thanks a million!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Where are you located and would you do this on my truck?
I’m curious what I think is the magnet is stuck down in the timing cover for? Was it a just in case a bolt dropped?
Its not a magnet, its a tool call 'a wedge of cheese.' Its used to prevent the chains from moving and thus losing timing.
If I'm seeing correctly the new phaser was off that indicator was 1/4 to the right of the R ... you don't want that.
If I pulled the phaser off and the cam move to left or right of my line what do you do to align it back up? Would I just put phaser on with out chain and rotate back to the line by hand? See a lot of these videos but no explanation what to do if the cam moved. Thx!
If you follow the exact position of cam lobes in the video, 100% sure cam will not move. If by accident you turn the cam, just turn it back by hand with phaser (without chain) to align the markings before installing the new phaser.
This just happened to me. Don’t know what caused it to be Misaligned but I’m glad I marked it. Thanks for the advice.
I'm knee deep in this process, but I replaced all the timing components. The issue I'm having is getting the cam bolt to torque to yield. I tightened to 30 foot pounds, but when I try to tighten another 90 degrees the engine spins. Every video I've seen nobody has this issue. Any recommendations? Thanks
You’re going to think this is a nuts thing to say, but I was told to do it by the guy who makes custom ground cams for all the mod motors. Put a pair of vice grips on the camshaft on the body of the cam between the lobes and use it as opposing force for the torque wrench. I had to do it for my dohc for alignment purposes and tightening the bolts
@@4eyesover2 That is the way the dealer ship does it
You have to secure the crankshaft by placing socket and a breaker bar on the center bolt of crank pulley.
Try putting your plugs back in to gain compression
I need to know where did u get that extension? Thanks Mike
Canadian Tire store
Did this even work? Because you did not even mention the crank position which is the most importAnt part, so I would like to know how did it run after or if it did run at all
I guess you saw in the video that the engine was running after repair. In this procedure, you don't need to worry about crank position because I did not remove the chain from the crank gear. Chain was secured/locked with wedge tool. The important thing here is the position of the camshafts because that's where I removed the chain. Make sure all your markings line up during reassembly. Hope this help.
@@bgfMind thank you for replying. So when you did this job, did you know where the crank keyway was positioned? Being at tdc 1 correct?
@@bgfMind how do you get cam lobes in that position or does it matter if replacing both phasers
@@davidross1119 Before removing the cam phasers, you need to rotate the crankshaft to position the cam lobes.
How much for this work ? My truck motor sound cold 3 sec!

Anyone else’s engine die when idling due to this issue?
Defective cam phaser will cause rough idling and sometimes stalling on idle, very hard starting or will not start at all. Loud ticking noise when running.
@@bgfMind .. 100%. My F150 phaser is out 90°. It's a crank no start. Didn't know until I removed the valve cover.
new campheser need to lock out
