I learnt swimming at 45. Because of severe fear of water and the deep, it took me over 2 months to become comfortable with just floating and standing in water. People laughed but the perseverance has paid off. I am very glad I learnt how to swim.
I'm 60, and I don't know how to swim. 😞 I almost drowned in my high school swimming pool (about age 16 or 17), and I haven't been in a pool since. Although that was very traumatic for me, I would still like to learn.
Soha's World Yup. It’s ridiculous. We never went to pools or lakes growing up. Now at 39 I want to cross it off my list of things I should have learned a long time ago.
This summer I was determined to learn how to swim, so I kept watching this video. And a couple of days ago I went on vacation and did every step in the video and I SWAM!! I’m still rusty but I can float and do enough to move in the water. I’m so proud of myself 🥰😂
I wanted to learn how to swim, but the classes were pretty expensive. So i looked up tutorials online and found this video. Long story short after 10 mins, i got very comfortable with floating and now I'm even swimming a bit. Thanks for sharing this lesson
This is the best swimming tutorial. I’m a beginner. I’m 53. I could swim by just winging it. I’ve paid thousands to get swim lessons for my 2 children. Although, they are much better than me, I will encourage them to watch your tutorials for relearning, reinforcement. 27 year old here 👋🏻 I took swimming lessons two years ago by a very disrespectful teacher who undermined my fear of the water. Although I was determined how to swim so I decided to enjoy it. She didn’t teach me how to stay afloat and my head out of water first. I was introduced into the pool with my head in at all times. 😐 I couldn’t even bring myself to be in the middle of the pool at the end of my lessons. Always reaching out for the wall basically hugging it. This year, I’ve decided to go on vacation and try to learn how to swim bc I’ve come across this video. I was afraid of the pool, so I tried these moves in the sea where it was shallow bc sea makes you float easily. After three days, I was basically trying to coordinate my arms and legs better. I got more comfortable in the water I was able to play around. Another three days later i decided to get in the pool and I just found myself swimming freely with my head out first. And then I tried out putting my head in and just breathing out and now I can just swim. It’s unbelievable for me. Thank you for the instructions and thank god i’ve come across this video 🎉😊
I've always had a fear of deep water, but I want to be able to enjoy swimming like my friends and family, this video gives me some confidence to try again :)

This year i went back and tried your suggestions and technique and started floating in just 10 mins and swimming in the next hour. I truly am grateful towards this video.

I started learning to swim after 17 years of fear, shame and waiting. I swim now and feel very confident and proud. This video helped me to relax my body on the water and by making a ball kind of shape with my body, I float easily on the water which my coach didn't mention. Thanks for the video and guidance!
I want to gain confidence in swimming in deep water and also swimming fast lol. I think it's my form and that I keeps messing me up. My legs keep sinking. How do I overcome this fr?
I used to bee a swimming teacher myself but when I had a stroke in 2015 I lost my confidence my muscles in my back and legs are still weak now I am 60 and learn to swim again Love this videos thank you for the support, Annet from the Netherlands
This is a good video. The way I was taught to swim, my friend’s brother told me to take a deep breath and try to sink down by curling into a ball. I couldn’t. From there he said as long as you have air in your lungs and you’re not trying to swim down you won’t go under and it’s just about using your arms and legs to move around and keep your head above. I started swimming instantly from that moment.
@@chrestakelly1838 Let me know!! This might not work for people who have a particularly low body fat percentage but it should work for most. Just of course be sure to try in the shallow end. Good luck!! 🤞
I had one swim lesson in my life so maybe that made me a tad bit more comfortable in water than others but for the most part THIS video got me swimming. I still can’t believe it worked, I’m beyond happy right now. Incredible
My whole life I’ve always been embarrassed about not knowing how to swim, and what’s even more annoying is that I fit the stereotype “black people cant swim.” I need to change this year for my self esteem and my safety...
I just dont understand how people cant swim, like its so simple. Could you guys tell me what is behind u not being able to swim? Is it fear of the water? Is it fear of drowning? Is it surreal that you dont have to work your muscles to be stable? Please tell me why, some of my friends cant swim and they are very insecure about it so i cant approach them. I would love to teach them how to swim though. Please reply
I'm taking swimming lessons (today was my third day) I saw your video today, I followed all the steps and practiced an hour before my class, I am able to do it!!! my instructor was speechless, the people taking the course with me couldn't believe it! Thank you so much!!! :)
People won't laugh! And if they do, screw them! I was 18 when I started learning to swim. It is NEVER late. You have to care only about yourself and what you want
@loveutill theendoftimes Yee thats the thing, they dont laught but they stare and its even worse, like get the fck out how can I even try if they keep staring
I've been swimming for so long, I forget there are people who need a tutorial to swim. Just keep at it, yall. Swim with someone who knows how to swim and can swim for two people. Keep your lungs at least half filled with air. Swimming is about using your arms more than your legs (don't kick wildly, I know it's natural, but it's 80% arms). Stay in the shallow end until you're comfortable in the shallow. It's easier to move forward than stay in place. Don't panic if you fall in the water unexpectedly.
I want to gain confidence in swimming in deep water and also swimming fast lol. I think it's my form and that I keeps messing me up. My legs keep sinking. How do I overcome this fr?
@@yagirl_tola It might be one of two things. One, you're not straightening your back enough as you propel forward (your back should be almost tense trying to keep your back straight), or two because you're not kicking enough. Don't kick too much cuz you'll wear yourself out, but it should be enough they begin to partially penetrqte the surface behind you. Another thing, if you swim by keeping your face above the water the entire time, that would be a cause too. Experienced swimmers doing the front crawl swim keep their faces down in the water, and surfacing their face every second stroke in order to take a breath. That technique allows them to remain streamlined in the water. Hope it helps.
@@dukes1675 Muscle mass/density plays a factor in floating as well. I learned how to swim when I was 9 years old. While in the Marines I was in a SAR squadron...Search And Rescue. With full lungs of air, I will still slowly float to the bottom, so the statement in this video is not true of everyone. I have to work harder than most just to tread water, kinda sucks really...lol. Some people are just naturally more buoyant than others. Keep practicing though, it's the only way to figure out your own body and how to make it work for you. 👍
Don't feel bad I'm 28 years old and I can't swim back when I was a child my parents couldn't afford to get me swimming lessons but now I want to swim so I thought maybe there's a video on RUclips that might help me and so I found this I will give it ago
you'll learn how to swim dont worry about it. im 16 and i've learned to swim mostly by myself. i remember once when i was about 9-10 i almost drowned in a lake but my cousin jumped in and helped me. and the next day he started to teach me how to do it and after that i was just practicing by myself. you can just ask any friend of yours that knows how to swim to teach you its much easier that way
trashbang that’s my worst fear (besides the dark and clowns but nevermind that) I’m always so scared somebody would pull me under and I’m an okay swimmer but with no notice I would probably drown because it’s so scary like omg no I can’t even
When i was around 8 years old , i learnt it the hard way . The man threw us into the deep end of the pool each session ,to teach us to float. I vomited so much water😅 But anyway i can swim now
My dad said he will teach me to swim by throwing me in and letting me figure it out because that’s how he did it and his friend (who owns the pool I’m most likely going to) so what is exactly why I am looking this up because I don’t wanna drown.
This video saved my life. I had Aquaphobia for 20 years and by watching this tutorial finally I managed to swim! 🏊♀️ this fear was embarrassing for me. without any actual teacher I learned only by this video. I want to say thank you🙏🏻 It helped a lot.
Trust me, a new learner can learn in five minutes by watching this tutorial. Most of the videos on youtube are just wasting your time, but this 5 minute tutorial is the best. I also learned from this tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you Christian Wedoy for this Video. After 2.5 months of consistent practice I am able to swim following your method shown here. First few weeks were tough but I am able to do it now. Thank you 🙏🙏
Literally my best friend at one point said she didn’t know how to swim. I was fricken disappointed because I was having a pool party and she was invited. Now she knows how to swim but...... *b r u h*
You can do it! I'm watching this video because I just found out my boyfriend's children can not swim. I've never taught anyone to swim but I'm about to try!
This is the best video ever. I had a scare over 20 years ago and never wanted to learn. I told my self enough is enough and today my husband helped me and I had this video replaying in my head. I learned the floating part and I’m going to go to next phase next week. Thank you for this video.
23 and just now getting the opportunity to be in water for swimming and this video was super helpful. Getting those additional video angels definitely helped my understanding of how to float let alone use my limbs , I’m very uncoordinated and this really broke it down to get the functionality right , I get made fun of for even attempting so THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO
I don't even be around no pools but I took a swimming class like 20 years ago and we ain't so none of this. You're a much much better instructor than the one I had, taught me more in 5 minutes than my parents paid for me to know in 2 months
To everyone who can’t swim and is scared here’s some advice from a national swimmer don’t rush into thinking you can swim after watching this video once what you need to is get over the fear of the water first you not gonna drown if you have someone with you so don’t be scared and once you’ve done that then you need to master how to float ok the water with your face being in the water cause once you can do this it always it so much easier when you have to swim with your face in the water and you’ll be much more comfortable with it. So then you’ll need to build up your kick so do what the video says and just take as slow and steady as what suits you again do not rush it and once you think you’ve done that then maybe start doing some widths of the pool in a streamline position but only kick for this part, that should build up your kick enough to then be able to start your arms and we’ll I’m not sure how to explain the arms
Thanks so much and I have a question I do know how to swim it’s just that I’m scared when I put my full face underwater I’m scared I will have a swimmers ear infection but there’s no water in my ear
Ok but if what if there’s wax and your ear and then water comes in it will the water just go to the eardrum or will the wax will protect the ear from water getting indide
Thank you Chris, I have been always so afraid on deep waters and I can't enjoy swimming like that. I really wanna enjoy swimming without worrying about drowning, this video really help me get confidence and I'm motivated because of this video.
I am so amazed! I’ve never known anything about knowing how to swim! This video was done so well. I watched it 2 times. Then went to the pool and was floating on my front and back within minutes. Wow! I’m so happy!
He attempted in "got talent" and his performance was breath taking . And as well as he stopped his breath for 4:30 mins under water with his arms legs and neck was chained. Salute to your skills !!
Hi, I am 42 years old, I feel anxious in water. Just want to learn for my kids because they want to learn. I started my swimming classes, and it's been only a month. Your video is really helpful, and now I have a strong feeling that I will learn soon and enjoy myself with my kids. Journey can be long, but we are not alone. Thanks all of you 🙏
I tried this in a river lol, When I couldn't touch the Bottom I quickly went out 😂😂.. But after a week or so I learned to float. It's easy if you get over the fear of drowning.
i’m 19, i’ve always wanted to swim on my own. my mom finally made me feel confident enough to actually try. and I DID IT!!! i learned to swim in the deep and i didn’t freak out! (i usually do freak out because i did drown in my aunts pool when i was 9) it was so nice to finally swim.. and swimming is so easy to me. i feel like i wasted so much time being scared lol
The moment you decide to leave yourself to water and don't panic , it gets so much easier. I experienced it the hard way😂 all people just expected me to just jump and swim , but when i was 14 , i just tried not to struggle in water and it worked . But i still have problem in floating when i'm in the middle of water with no edges like a sea at the age of 21.i mean i can float but for a short time. I can't survive in deep water more than 3 mins . Every time i watch a movie like titanic, i ask myself how tf am i gonna survive that 😂
Thank you. I am 25 and I took swim lessons as a kid but never really "got it".. It is an essential skill for every human to have, so I will be trying again.
I wish I had him as my instructor, I attended my first swimming class last week and was really disappointed. They just didn’t know how to teach an adult and to add insult to injury they both were teenagers. She literally told me “you can practice floating” and walked away. I need a private ADULT instructor.
I know the feeling. I switch instructors twice. Finally, I got someone who actually knows what they are talking about. However, I am nowhere ready to swim. I still need more practice.
This is amazing I am only 15 years old and this month I am going swimming with my class and I have no idea how to swim and I don’t want some people to laugh at me. So I am about to try this method and I hope I will swim 😅
Lps Terianna Tv don’t be scared of the deep end, I wasn’t aloud down there when I was little, but I wasn’t scared of it............. *i was only afraid of the pool cleaner* 😂
Thank you so much for sharing this. I watched it yesterday and swam for the first time unassisted today. The moment I held my breath and floated I knew it was a done deal. I'll keep practicing the hand and leg movements to get better. Thanks again!
As a swimmer: Swimming is 95% gliding and staying afloat and 5% pulling. Imagine if you were skydiving while occasionaly putting your head out for a breath.
@@onimoru7736 When people try to swim, they believe that it is pulling that gets them moving. When in reality it is 5%. Driving is 5% press the gas and 95% being aware.Your comment is 100% ignorant.
My biggest regret is not completing my swimming lessons 10 years ago. Now I am searching for ways to learn so I can enjoy my trips to islands. Time to take classes after a decade of not swimming.
I am new to swimming, but it has been one of my decade old dream. I started training, then I came across this video and applied some of the techniques which really helped me get my last session right impressing my Trainer. lolz I am glad I watched it and following more - I would like to kindly suggest on making videos about breathing role in swimming. Thats probably one reason I couldnt get it right until my last session. You watch so many videos' where they dont technically guide you on where to control breathing, because in reality, beginner swimmers like myself use their own which is incorrect in most of the cases. Thank you again

This video helped me to relax my body on the water and by making a ball kind of shape with my body, I float easily on the water which my coach didn't mention. Thanks for the video and guidance!

@Vishal Srivastav
It was a cookout pool party with several families. Just because you can’t swim doesn’t mean you can’t hang out at the shallow end.
I'm gonna try that too. I'll come back with an update. Might be couple of months from now though. I'm in South Africa and we heading into winter.

honestly
I've been swimming for so long, I forget there are people who need a tutorial to swim.
Just keep at it, yall. Swim with someone who knows how to swim and can swim for two people. Keep your lungs at least half filled with air. Swimming is about using your arms more than your legs (don't kick wildly, I know it's natural, but it's 80% arms). Stay in the shallow end until you're comfortable in the shallow. It's easier to move forward than stay in place. Don't panic if you fall in the water unexpectedly.
This point is really worth noticing for the beginners that our hands give 80% propulsion and our legs no more than 20%
@@jhamail and I’m in a science class
Hope it helps.

best instructional video on youtube that properly teaches how to swim with clear straight to the point and very brief introduction video
So then you’ll need to build up your kick so do what the video says and just take as slow and steady as what suits you again do not rush it and once you think you’ve done that then maybe start doing some widths of the pool in a streamline position but only kick for this part, that should build up your kick enough to then be able to start your arms and we’ll I’m not sure how to explain the arms
thanks I don't know what else I would do if I couldn't swim lol or had this information
