    I just put mine together and glanced at the manual. Recommendation number one - leave the zip tie on the blade until you get the chain and bar locked in place. Next, that little hook on the inside bottom of the handle is for locking the extension cord in place. Third, you mentioned it but didn't explicitly state this, but the big adjusting knob has two separate functions. The inner orange part is to bolt the cover to the saw. The outer black ring is to adjust the chain tension. Finally, the annoying safety button can be released once the saw is turning. It would be very awkward to have to hold it down all the time, which is what I thought at first.

      @@DavesShop Yes ! I am in Georgetown. Your video was great. I viewed it once and did not have to read the directions to assemble the saw and use. Five minutes after I opened the box and placed bar oil in I was sawing away. At 64, I am not climbing trees. My young neighbor did that for. When his battery chainsaw went dead, he used my never ending supply of electricity, corded saw. I believe we had more damage this storm, than the one two years ago. I subscribed.

    Hi, I am considering this saw. One thing that concerns me is how much the chain loosened up after just a couple minutes of cutting. I do understand that a new chain will stretch a little in the beginning. But I can't imagine a chain stretching that much. After all, it is made of steel. Are sure it's not the adjuster knob/gear slipping? How often do you have to adjust it during use? Does it get less often after a while? It should get less often if it is chain stretching. Thanks for the info. Nice job.

    • @DavesShop
      @DavesShop  2 года назад +2

      Hi Ned, You are right the first couple of times I used the saw I had to tighten the chain adjuster but
      that is normal and after using it to cut down two 30-foot trees in my back yard it's still working great. I do have to use the chain adjuster here and there but it works fine with no issues. The chain is not stretching that much, but rather the tensioner is slipping. After you get tension where you want it with the black outer adjustment ring, you lock it in place by turning the inner orange plastic knob. The tensioner wasn’t being locked down in the video.

    I have a 12" Black + Decker chainsaw which is battery operated. I'm impressed with it even though it's not considered a professional chainsaw. The battery life on it lasts a long time and it sure as heck can help you do a lot of wood cutting in your yard. I only wish Black + Decker made some longer battery-operated chainsaws, and it wouldn't hurt if Black + Decker made some professional level equipment. They only seem to make tools just for home use.

    Holy cow, corded one is on a different league than mine! I've recently purchased B+D's 20v battery, 10" one and I am kind of regretting it. Although I already had a couple B+D's batteries, which is the main reason to pick up that one, I should have researched more and went for some other brand with faster chain speed or 40V one.
    The 20v battery version bounces a lot. And quite difficult to concentrate. Also, it doesn't have the chainstop safety feature either.
    To mend this, I'll try to change the bar to shorter one (as well as the chain) in an attempt to increase the chain speed.

Will they decide later that batteries aren’t Green enough and come out with a new type like they pulled on us with our auto A/C. I got a box full of old tools that need a new battery, anyone want to buy one?

      @user-wc Sorry to hear that I haven't had any issues with mine an have cut down three 30ft plus trees and it's still going strong just had to replace the chain. I would take it back for a refund.
