I just put mine together and glanced at the manual. Recommendation number one - leave the zip tie on the blade until you get the chain and bar locked in place. Next, that little hook on the inside bottom of the handle is for locking the extension cord in place. Third, you mentioned it but didn't explicitly state this, but the big adjusting knob has two separate functions. The inner orange part is to bolt the cover to the saw. The outer black ring is to adjust the chain tension. Finally, the annoying safety button can be released once the saw is turning. It would be very awkward to have to hold it down all the time, which is what I thought at first.

Hi, I am considering this saw. One thing that concerns me is how much the chain loosened up after just a couple minutes of cutting. I do understand that a new chain will stretch a little in the beginning. But I can't imagine a chain stretching that much. After all, it is made of steel. Are sure it's not the adjuster knob/gear slipping? How often do you have to adjust it during use? Does it get less often after a while? It should get less often if it is chain stretching. Thanks for the info. Nice job.
Hi Ned, You are right the first couple of times I used the saw I had to tighten the chain adjuster but that is normal and after using it to cut down two 30-foot trees in my back yard it's still working great. Holy cow, corded one is on a different league than mine! I've recently purchased B+D's 20v battery, 10" one and I am kind of regretting it. Although I already had a couple B+D's batteries, which is the main reason to pick up that one, I should have researched more and went for some other brand with faster chain speed or 40V one. The 20v battery version bounces a lot. And quite difficult to concentrate. Also, it doesn't have the chainstop safety feature either. To mend this, I'll try to change the bar to shorter one (as well as the chain) in an attempt to increase the chain speed.

Battery’s are $150 plus. You pay that when you buy your tool. How much will they cost in 5yrs? Will they be hard to get? Will they decide later that batteries aren’t Green enough and come out with a new type like they pulled on us with our auto A/C. I got a box full of old tools that need a new battery, anyone want to buy one?
Hi @peppie0521, I agree batteries do wear out and have to be replaced. This chain saw doesn't use batteries, you have to have it plugged into power. I purchase this type because I only use it around the house where I have power and you don't need to worry that it will not start when you need it due to bad plug or fuel. What about it for cutting big logs, both for beams and for planks?
Well, I guess that would really depend on the size and thickness of what you are cutting. I have used mine to cut logs as thick as 16 inches in diameter. I haven't used it to cut planks.

Would you recommend using canola cooking oil instead of the bar oil. It’s just that I forgot to buy one and I wanted to try it out.
Hi Babiker, No do not use any other type of oil. The manual says you can substitute with non detergent SAE 30 motor oil if u don't have bar oil
Not sticky enough. Use chain and bar oil only.

Corded electric anything has a lot of power to get the job done. The only downfall is the cord.

Could you show me how to cut horizontally? Is it safe to squat down for cutting the low trunk?
Would have helped to actually cut something with it besides a twig
@bobjayp, Well that's all I had at the time of the video but rest assured I have cut down several 20ft tall trees with it.
