Hey SteveO, I really love your videos. I've picked up some great tips. if I can impart some knowledge to you; be careful with those basement windows. A lot of them are tempered and shouldn't be bladed. Here's a list of which windows should be tempered according to code: Bathrooms, sliders, doors, anything 3 feet from a door, anything 18" off the ground or lower. Also, always be sure to look in the corners of the windows to see if they are tempered. if they're tempered they usually say, "tempered," buy not always.
Hello! I'm from Brazil and I do not speak English so I'm asking this question that may sound silly, but it's because I did not understand what you said. Why do you use the steel sponge on the dry glass after using the squeegee? does it not cause risks? Thanks for your videos, it has helped me a lot. I wish success for you!
Hello from Denmark. love your videos SteveO. It's great to hear your experiences and thoughts when cleaning windows in such a house. has even changed technique regarding the use of soap from directly on the mop to dissolved in water. It's so much better. thanks for another great video.
Hello steveo, first time comment on one of your videos. I worked in residential for about 6 years before switching to highrise and large commercial, where detailing is basically not a thing outside of very rare instances. In my residential days I pretty much used all the same things you do for detailing. However for the past few years I have been doing a large building lobby on a monthly basis where I have to detail due to metal knobs that stick out in the middle and corner of every window. I was recommended a natural chamois and was surprised how well it works. I'd kinda describe it as a cross between a surgical towel and a microfiber cloth. You can use it damp so there's basically no laundry afterwards and it last for an entire day. Curious if you've ever tried one or your opinion on one.
Thanks for the tips here as I just purchased a new squeegee, mop and bucket as I'm so tired of my dirty windows. One question before I go out on the ladder and get this job done is what kind of soap do you use and how much. I used to use "Windex" and towels to do this but that stuff just attracts the dirt and stuff. You pro's all use soap and a squeegee so that is the direction I'm going. I'm watching your video and learning. Thanks again for the tips and the help. Great video!!
Thanks Steve for the help and advice. Got my tools, a new bottle of blue Dawn and tomorrow I will go clean all the windows in my house, inside and out. This will be the first time I'm using a squeegee but I've watched you do it so I'll take my time and give it a try.. Again thanks for the help.
Well Steve0 I had to thank you sincerely for your videos and your advice. I got my windows cleaned and what an amazing difference doing it "the professional way" . I used to do my windows with a towel and "Windex" but they never looked like this!! First I have to say the learning curve using a squeegee is almost vertical for someone that has never used one except on the windshield of my car. Also I have to say it took a lot of trial and error to get the soap mix right. As I'm sure everyone starts out with WAY too much soap. But I kept dumping half my bucket and refilling it with clear water until I just knew I had the right mix and as you say it's not much. My first windows were in the direct sunlight and there I had to do and redo until I got them "good enough". But then I moved on the the balance of my 8 total windows including the oval window in my front door. By the time I was done I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing with the squeegee. Now I went back to the first two windows that were still in the direct sun and with the "experience" I had I redid those windows and they actually came out as good as the others. Using a mop with soap is the hot set up for sure - inside and out. I'm a retired older woman and not going into this business but I will certainly do my windows far more often then I have because this truly did an excellent job and was a lot easier then a towel and bottled cleaner. Thank you so much for sharing your secrets and making your video's. You helped me get the job done successfully.
@@lisajohnson8566 Thank you Lisa, that makes me happy that this video helped make your world brighter with clean windows. A squeegee and mop just make it so much easier!!

Good tips Steve O I have a tip for you cob Webb Brush is something I think you should have on your tool belt or at least in your Arsenal it comes in handy with frames tracks ledges screens also a scrubber with a handle for Bronze pad white pad red pad steel wool I got one from windows 101 thing is great it saves my hands my wrists and time just felt like sharing a bit 😉👍🏻

Totally in agreement about adding too much soap , let them do that in UK, I’ve been cleaning residential for 35 years, soap in the bucket has always done fine, no complaints, maybe Dawn is so much more superior than Fairy, ... we do things a little different in America!
Hello @SteveO The Window Cleaner nice video! i have a question for you...after cleaning our windows in the apartment after a few days on the inside it becomes like some kind of layer like a foggy grease..and its only on 2 out of 3 windows it becomes like that, do you have any idea why? Sorry english is not my first language but maybe you understand my question :)
Great video! What’s the best way master pole work? From the right equipment to the best skills and techniques tp practice? I’m pretty sure you’re the best person to ask. Thanks for your great videos!
Flat seals are the worst with any squeegee, even the Liquidators. Perpendicular seals are like cleaning with the cruise control on. Try Razer Red rubber in the Liquidators, works better than most rubber I've found. For example using Pulex Hard in a 22" Liquidator will cause skipping on the edges as well as Black Diamond rubber. In my experience, the Razer Red solves a lot of those problems with skipping. Lower sized blades benefit from the rubber as well. YMMV.
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner i hope you get a good batch steveo , i have stopped using the red rubber as the last 3 packs i got were rubbish . i mean really bad i had to bin them , i am using spotless yellow rubber now and its sweet if you like soft rubber that is , nice vid man thanks from the uk
When you're fanning and are running your squeegee along the side, are you trying to get as close as you can to the edge without touching it or are you trying to run it down the edge, making contact the whole way?
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner Thanks, man. That has seriously never occurred to me. I've sat in front of a window squeegeeing then remop then squeegeeing. Just trying to figure out how to reduce the leftover. Thanks.
I am a newbie! Very excited to get started tomorrow! What was the pad you were using to detail the window before it got too worn out? I have the steel wool, but like the system you have! Thanks for all the tips!
In your video for detailing commercial can you show how you minimize detailing when you're squeegeeing and how you put the towel on the pole and squeegee with the pole? Also if you could talk a little about when you finish detailing if you want there to be zero water on the window or if you're alright if a little trail of water, if you have a difference between commercial and residential on what you requiring your degree of a detailing (i.e., if you'll leave a little water on commercial). I squeegee and leave just a ton of water when I'm done. I don't know why that happens, but there is a river along the side of the windows and it forces me to spend a bunch of time detailing and uses more towels than I want to think about.
Good video. But what I wonder is why you use your washer many times for all windows without washing it in between. If I do this my washer is very dirty and I would be afraid to scratch the windows with the small sand grains in the washer.
Hi Steve. Love the video. Question. Do you offer this detail level of service for all residential customers or is this a speciality service and if so, how much more do you charge? Thanks for all the great videos!
I use the mop on a pole with ct18 its better then dawn hose down 10 _ 20 window quikly including the walls dont have to detail at all then spay then using a dry mop or rag on it buff no ladders required. Get black sand and orange bugs marks covered window her you would have to detal for days. Inside spray and mop buff to not laders required cristal clear. Water down spray 20 litres 50/50 last a hole summer. Ct 18 last 6 months $80 au cost for 6 months nothing else only other expence is fuel some times a razor blades but only when wet.
I have a really really dumb questions. I am pretty ignorant when it comes to the professional aspect of window cleaning. Here it goes... I've watched a few of your videos in fanning and doing residential work, but I've never seen you do the interior window. Is that something you upcharge for, or is it pretty much only for storefronts and what not?
Amazing video!! U have inspired me to create my own window cleaning business. Also, shouldn’t I be worried of using steel wool on the window? And should I make a damage waiver release form?
AJP75 a damage waiver release form is a good idea especially for construction cleans. Make sure you use 0000 steel wool and just never use it on tint and you’ll be good
Bronze pads are better, walnut are good for deep scrubbing but if its really dirty 0000 steel wool is best windowcleaner.com/products/xero-steel-wool-16-piece-bag?sca_ref=3020242.k17l3JaEgS

@@SteveOthewindowcleaner i hope you get a good batch steveo , i have stopped using the red rubber as the last 3 packs i got were rubbish . i mean really bad i had to bin them , i am using spotless yellow rubber now and its sweet if you like soft rubber that is , nice vid man thanks from the uk
andy mawson review coming out this week
When you're fanning and are running your squeegee along the side, are you trying to get as close as you can to the edge without touching it or are you trying to run it down the edge, making contact the whole way?
Rowdy Harris making contact the whole way lightly
Enjoyed the video. Some great tips. Thanks:)
When doing the edges and wiping the trim do you ever use a damp towel??
do you have to have the invisable layer of soap on the window before you use steel wool or magic eraser?
Beautiful work steveo your my master
Lee Poole thank you!!
Thanks for the great video 👌
Any reason why you didn’t use a pole instead of a ladder on the inside? Thanks in advance 🙏
What kind of detailing towels do you use?
Good video. But what I wonder is why you use your washer many times for all windows without washing it in between. If I do this my washer is very dirty and I would be afraid to scratch the windows with the small sand grains in the washer.
What was that brass channel that you were using, and do you use medium or soft rubber for your sorbo
Ettore master brass slim channel, I use ettore rubber
Love the videos. How often do you dip your scrubber back in the liquid? How many windows would you say?
probably every 10-15 windows
Hi Steve. Love the video. Question. Do you offer this detail level of service for all residential customers or is this a speciality service and if so, how much more do you charge? Thanks for all the great videos!
where do you get your bronze wool pads ?
Does WCR sell the new Unger handles?
came for the technique. stayed for the satisfaction
I like that lime green bucket! What brand is it?

Amazing video!! U have inspired me to create my own window cleaning business. Also, shouldn’t I be worried of using steel wool on the window? And should I make a damage waiver release form?
AJP75 a damage waiver release form is a good idea especially for construction cleans. Make sure you use 0000 steel wool and just never use it on tint and you’ll be good
Get the red devil brand steel wool, it lasts much longer, rust wise and abrasiveness wise
What kind of bath towels do you use? We use them too, but I'm curious where you get yours?
Dutch Shine Windows I’m interested in knowing that also.
Squeeging inside just hold your applicator under the area you are squeeging and follow it down.....no problems with water on the floor or sill.
Amazing!!! Are the bronze wool pads same thing as the walnut scrub pads?
Bronze pads are better, walnut are good for deep scrubbing but if its really dirty 0000 steel wool is best windowcleaner.com/products/xero-steel-wool-16-piece-bag?sca_ref=3020242.k17l3JaEgS
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner Thank you, could you also provide a link for those Bronze Wool Pads you use on your video please. I appreciate it!
@@MikeBee77 Bronze pads in Ultra fine grade have not been manufactured for about 2 1/2 years now unfortunately
Hello Amigo: what are you do for water spots. I started my new business. Windows cleaning. I just wonder how much you charge for a house well how you figure are you prices to charge? Maybe you can give any idea
Hi I use this to remove hard water stains, and I have a video on this channel about residential bidding as well windowcleaner.com/diamond-magic-stain-removers?pt=MY
the steel wool doesn’t leave any scratches or streaks? And it works for all windows?
Im a window cleaner and im only 5’2”. Could you share any tips on ladders and how to clean a two-story house?
20' ladder is super helpful. also a 4' step ladder, also do not be scared to use a pole
hello what is the wool you use to soap the glass thank you
0000 steel wool
Excellent video what type of ladder do you use inside homes ?
latinlingo44 everything for a 20’ Werner extension ladder, 3-5 step ladders, and 2-3 pieces of stack ladder
Entrance and exit strips are called door sills. And from floor and carpet or floor to floor are called transition strips. I usually call all of them transition strips by default.
never underestimate the cleaning power of a thumbnail !!
😅😅🤙🏽💯
One time I was on the third level on my ladder and because of my earphone's cable I dropped my phone! after that I got EarPods without cable so much better. What kind of music do you listen boss?
Great videos !
Window washing is an art and gosh dang it I’m trying sooo hard to get this technique down but it’s hard!! Did you go to school for it?? 😝
For my home , what would be the best Squeegee ? What size ?
bob clapper A 14” is best!!
When you squeegee the window can you show step by step with hand motion cause I would love learn that please
