The cut from “Just three days ago, we were living in an authoritarian state” to “This podcast is brought to you by Square Space” was so wild, fantastic editing 😂😂😂
100% agreed. Good job, Danny!
Danny iz brilliant!
What did they mean they were living in an authoritarian state? (Canadian)
“Hi I’m Mak. Love doubloons, hate planes”
“doubloons are not autistic” is a prime mak quote
"*gasp* The betrayal. " "No, it's care taking!" Is the most relatable clip of the whole podcast
I love Mak's openness on her feelings on not having the urge for kids and the need for autonomy and space as a person. (not how she said it, those are my words) It was an eye opener to me. THANKS MAK!
I mean she's like 23. She doesn't have to change her opinion when she gets older but it'd be inadvisable to feel differently at her age..
"new regret unlocked..." from Mak was funny xD
This feels like a girls' night after a stressful week. Great vibes.
Danny got tired of bleeping you guys out and let c*** slip a few times 😂
She just fully gsve up half way 😂
I think it has to do with the first five minute they were talking about!
FOR MAK: From a UK electrician. Over here we have heat alarms rather than smoke alarms in the kitchen. This usually will only go off after a specific "oh dear this can only be reached in the event of a fire" temperature is reached.
Not sure if its the same in the USA but if it is you may have a faulty heat alarm and need for it to be tested/replaced. Even some brand new ones can have an issue.
Shit. I'm in the UK & didn't know those existed. Ok, I'm going to get one. Thanks for helping reduce my risk of dying in a house fire 🎉🔥
US electrician here: we have heat-based fire alarms and it is HIGHLY recommended they are the type used in kitchens. BUT there isn't an actual requirement they are used instead of smoke detectors. There may be a smoke detector, not a heat detector installed in her kitchen.
FYI: smoke detectors
There are a variety of smoke detectors some use a light/laser array paired with a photo eye that detects the light. If smoke comes in the sensor and blocks the light it triggers an alarm.
Some use a small amount of a radioactive isotope and a radiation detector. Smoke has a specific radioactive "finger print" so the detector uses the included isotope as a "baseline" and if it detects the smokes radiation it triggers the alarm.
Other sensors are also available.
Light based sensors are better for areas with "large" smoke particles and black smoke. Radiation detectors are good for clear/white smoke that has "small" particles. Not all smoke is visible amd smoke detectors react to invisible smoke too
They don't read the YT comments, don't bother addressing them.
I wonder if that was what was up with my apartment in college... alarm went off if I ever had the door open while showering, which made me think the alarm had a poor understanding of what smoke was
@@christopherdolan8751 some alarms detect the droplets of steam as particles of smoke. When installed they tend to be away from areas where its likely to happen but if there's limited space then it may be put where they can.
"THREE DAYS AGO WE LIVED IN AN AUTHORITARIAN STATE! This podcast is brought to you by Squarespace."
Jeez, talk about whiplash!
I had a horrible nightmare last night that y'all (Mak, Alayna, and Ashley were exposed to be HORRIBLE AWFUL people in an article/ news segment with lots of proof on TV), and waking up to see this episode about how wonderfully and awesomely your lives are evolving is suuuuch a relief. Blessings from my former kitty on high to you three.
They are awful people. The sexuality peoples are gonna divide families, communities and nations as bad as Hitler’s race theory.
Great episode!!! Also I'd love to hear the rest of the "day in the life" from Mak and the others and see how u all respond to each other's daily routines. I was laughing so hard when you guys were shocked with what Mak said. 😂 It kinda also backed up the point that u guys have made several times about social media, that u never fully know someone even when u are close to them, so u definitely know even less about people u follow online. U guys being shocked about Mak playing drums and taping was hilarious.
i love how utterly disturbed mak is at the beginning LMAO
Is it just me or Alayna here (her hair and sweater/top mostly) reminds me of 50/60-s cheerleader??
YES She came on screen and I was like CHEERLEADER
In Germany, fire alarms are supposed to be installed in each room except for the bathroom and the kitchen. The fact that it goes off even when you only heat up the oven indicates that it's not a smoke detector but a temperature-sensitive alarm. So, depending on where it is located right now, it might help to just move it away from above the oven or out of the kitchen completely. Or the landlord could install a smoke detector instead of the temperature-sensitive alarm but that might depend on local legislation. And to Alayna, how can you even live with an alarm going off every time you make a toast 😅 If you have a smoke detector that goes off, there might be some bread crumbs stuck near at the heating wires.
I just flew delta for the first time and my friend told me to ask for a trading card. I was soo confused but did indeed ask once I landed. He was SOO happy I asked for one! They love to give em out and they’re for everyone!
We, canadians, are polite because we don't have to worry about paying our bills when we get sick! Less worries, less stress, more times for happiness and carefree, I guess. Also, not all canadians are nice btw...
The country of England instantly disproves your theory.
A part of the explanation is the fact that we are few on large country that is harch to live of, being polite and respectfull of ppl around you can literaly save your life if you get stock on a snow storme, so for generation we learn to respect each other and be welling to help each other. ;-)
I wish Alayna will lose them one day with ordering coffee at timi's double- double large plz lolll and you pay with toony and loony loll
🧢 just look for even five minutes at hockey culture.
I want to hear the rest of Mak’s morning routine!! I’m so intrigued after the mouth thing I want to know more 😂
Alayna, red looks SO good on you!!
I love that ashleys period works the same way as mine :D i just had a very stressful exam and then got my period (and got sick) the day after… ive had people look at me really weird when i told them but im very grateful for not having cramps while i dont have the time
FINALLY SOME RUNESCAPE REPRESENTATION 😤😎
The mouth tape thing terrifies me because all I can think is what if you have a bad cold or sinus issues and then you can’t breathe at all😬☠️
You're part of my coffee routine on Wednesday 💕💕
Same.
Me, too :)
Same!
wednesday is orange to me and that’s their theme color i just realized
Ok! Alaynas outfit is SO frikkn cuuutttee ☺️
Y’all have no idea how much I’ve laughed and, somehow, healed, from this podcast
I know some trans guys freeze their eggs, I can only imagine what that must be like for them. Seems like hell for cis people. Hope the extraction goes smoothly and you can recover quickly! ❤️
I had that thought when I felt my boobies getting bigger and becoming more moody, snippy, insecure, etc
Mak is right. The science behind mouth taping at night is proven to be very beneficial in so many ways. I’m reading the book ‘Breath’ by James Nestor and it’s changed the way I breathe, think and live. If you’re not looking into it, what are you doing?
My grandma (who is 78 y/o and still very active, like hiking on mountains and stuff kinda active) has been taping her mouth in her sleep for 10 ish years now. She says it improves her sleep quality a lot
This episode had me crying laughing, especially all the egg and doubloon commentary!!! 😂😂😂
Ashley is absolutely breathtaking. ALL of you are, oh my word 🙌🙌
BEST day of the week🥰🥰😍
I’m loving Mak’s confidence in this episode-Love the dedication to breath work and I was surprised that I wanted to know more about how you spend your day! You all are so fun❤
I want to hear more of Mak's day!
Watching in Asheville and freaking out over the Orange Peel shirt. Can't wait for you to come back here! (Love the text alerts!)
So excited 😁
Up at 3AM so I’m watching 🙏
LOVE YOU GUYSSSS 🫶🫶
Pregnancy truly is (/can be) a very intense proces which takes a huge toll on people's physical and mental health. But to be honest, so is caring for a small child (regardless of whether one carried it or not).
Oh my God, I love that harsh joke from Alayna.
- Why you Canadians are so nice?
- Because we are your, guys, neighbors!
That's the spirit, Alayna, go for it!
"I'm always the best in the room" 😂 why'd that come off so unironically? ❤
The fact that one or more of those eggs that are maturing in Ashley in this podcast might very well end up being her children with names and lives and talking and running around in less than a decade is so wild to me.
Dude that's bonkers. I remember the first time one of my friends got pregnant & the realisation that they were MAKING A PERSON?!?! 🤯
As a fellow Canadian Lesbian (Alberta) I appreciate the Canada vs. US weirdness convo. Loonies & Toonies is such normal slang but I never thought it was weird. We definitely have Gay Monopoly money though haha.
Also congrats to each of you with your big news! Hope 2024 continues to get better for you all 🙏💜
Their room is ME. 🤣
Excellent episode ❤
Im late its been a horrible few metal health sickness and depression days u guys help every time thank u love u ❤❤❤
Woke up early, turned out it was perfect I made a London fog and I’m sitting listening to the pod.❤
London fog yummm
For Ashley (and anybody else planning a pregnancy in the future) I genuinely had a great home birth experience 6 years ago, you hear so many horror stories about birth and of course it can be traumatic but it really can be very positive and special too.
Mak mak you are seriously so amazing. The first egg pun mak was so proud i love it
THE EGG puns🤣🤣💜💜💜
Ashley was on fire in this one 😂
Pregnancy is fascinating. I've never felt the urge, but it's not full on body horror for me like it is for my wife. It's just genuinely scientifically interesting!
omg canadian money looks so similar to new zealand money 😂 also, i did get the runescape reference. as a autistic person, i do understand the fascination with dubloons lol
About mak’s smoke alarms going off when she cooks, new appliances (such as stoves and ovens) tend to smoke when they are first used because they are burning off oils and other residue from the factory. It should get better the more you use it if it does not then take the batteries out of your smoke alarm to while you cook(only if you remember to put them back in after you are done cooking.) I would also recommend giving your oven a good scrub with a mixture of 1/2 cup Dawn dish soap 1 1/2 cups baking soda and 3/4 white vinegar. Then scrub your oven with a Brillo pad or a very abrasive sponge. Make sure you scrub everything including the oven racks then wipe it out with a out your oven with a wet paper towel or clean wet sponge. Let your oven dry then use it as normal. Don’t forget to clean your stove the same way especially the burners. (Sidenote you could buy your own cleaning products instead of mixing your own but baking soda vinegar and dawn dish soap work best for me personally)
I'm here for Mak's facial expressions 😂😂😂😂😂
For the fire alarm, when cooking/baking put a small fan on blowing directly on the alarm, that should help keep it from being activated.
Ashley is so funny in this one omg!!! ❤ (as always ofc)
Mom is looking extra good today
The Orange Peel sweatshirt!!! Ashley KILLED in Asheville ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
maks mouth tape thing sounds like such a good idea, im going to have to try it
9:16 YEEEESS!!! RUNESCAPE 🤣
I feel your pain! I’ve donated eggs so I’ve gone through this process 6 times, good luck with your Eggs Out Day!
great show
gl with the egg harvest !
🥚🍳
hey chosen family, whelp after signs and signs I broke up with my partner, glad to see a post when stuck at home in a sapphic breakup way
Sending love and strength. It's such a tough spot to be in but hoping when you give yourself some time and love you'll be better off for it. I'm a year and a half in to healing after a 10 year relationship and so much happier for it ❤
Why am I awake at 3am watching this? Too good to get off my phone now
LOVE THE RUNESCAPE REFERENCE
You guys are hilarious! And it's like a cozy group of queer friends, love having my tea while catching up with y'all. Please follow up on Mak's average day! I'm curious what her day is like too :)
51:11 That “Oh, wow” made me crack up. Ashley just realized that content creators are more mentally ill than she thought😂
So true 😂
I think I may have an explanation to Mak's smoke detector question:
There are two different types of smoke detectors, ionization smoke detectors and photoelectric smoke detectors, which use different physical processes to detect smoke particles. In tests comparing the two types, ionization smoke detectors have been found to have a much higher rate of false alarms, and to be much slower to detect actual house fires.
Particularly the fact that Mak said the alarm goes off in response to heat from the oven makes me think the alarm could be ionization-based, since as far as I know, a normally functioning oven shouldn't be releasing the types of particles a photoelectric detector is built to detect.
Ionization detectors are typically cheaper to manufacture, and have been comercially available much longer than photoelectric detectors, which is why they're still fairly common even though they're less effective than photoelectric detectors in most situations.
If you're reading this, Mak, I would recommend you check which type of smoke detector you have installed. If it's an ionization-type, switching to a photelectric-type may reduce false alarms and increase detection speed of standard house fires.
If anyone is interested in learning more about smoke detectors, a summary of the two types and their differences can be found on Wikipedia, and I can also recommend a fantastic RUclips-Video by the channel "Technology Connections" which gives a more detailed comparison, and explains why photoelectric detectors are usually a better choice than ionization detectors :)
"All 21 of you" 😂 I lost it
T Shirt idea for our pregnant ladies…
I am my baby’s room
That was so funny, Mak 😂
There was fully a meeting after this podcast where Dani (apologize if this isn't how they spell their name) had to beg the trio from refraining to censor ever 3 seconds.🤣🤣🤣 Love this podcast with all my heart, they give me life.🥰
Mak, my apartment's smoke detector is super overreactive too. We wrap a plastic bag around it and secure with a rubber band when we cook and it never goes off on us anymore. I have super sensitive hearing and it was debilitating so I absolutely sympathize.
Minnesota is feeling like how Ashley describes Canada. Like Minnesota nice and there are moose everywhere and I knew what a loonie was too lol
shout outs to the runescape reference, i have this on my third monitor while i'm playing runescape right now
I’m in the last semester of my master of social work program, my assessments class was also the most boring class and I learned the least from it. I love ethics though. And social work is super social justice forward and I appreciate that.
Eggcerpt, even. Now I'm thinking of egg syrup. 🤣
I’m dying over the fact that they stopped bleeping once we were five minutes into the episode!
Mak, look up Robin Williams and Canada. "Canada is like a nice apartment over a crack house." :)
Lots of airlines in the US used to have those trading cards but I think it’s just Frontier, Skywest and Delta now and yes you just go up to the pilots and ask for them 😊
5:56 poor Mak looks like she wants an excused absence from the discussion 😂
As a Canadian the loonies discussion was hilarious lmao
This is Mak's sign to get a pap smear lol, just got my first one done earlier this month and the pain/un comfortability only lasts 1-2 min 😄👍
I got the runescape reference and was at the boston 10pm show LOVE YOU ASH
I use sleep tape too, and it makes a huge difference. I see you Mak
Take my like just for the Egg puns😂😂😂
Alayna's hair tied up like that and red shirt gives me a cheerleader vibe 😍
I like to say that Canadians are so nice b/c we put all of our anger into the Canadian geese and then send them out in formation to hiss and honk at people.
P.s. I'm here for the Runescape 100%
I was expecting to see Fulton walk on camera all mushy and gooey. ❤️
Omg I never knew that Canadian money is very similar to Australian money! We have different colours too haha
not me finding out america has only green money through this video😭😭
Mak playing drums that's awesome I play too hope you get the noise cancelling wall stuff so the neighbors don't hear
god the sheer relief i felt hearing ashley say that we're all just waiting for two specific men to die--i thought it was just me. like YEAH. that's it, that's the hope/feeling/thought. like yeah, please. please for the love of fuck. PLEASE.
Three years ago when I was doing IUI I had 58 eggs in total. I did testing everything came back fine to rule out PCOS ect, but as Ashley said it is also about quality. Only way to know quality is doing IVF. I already had 1 chemical pregnancy. Been trying and still not pregnant… yet. I am also now 30.
Can we just appreciate Dads laugh about real life effects of being on the internet?😂 🏃🏾♀️ 💨
12:39 Me, an European, watching this pod religiously every week :')
I only got this recently (after our third baby) but pregnancy is actually only 9 month, unless the baby's late. There's 10 "months of pregnancy" because they're exactly 4 weeks long (as in 28 days) and not 30/31 days and because the first two weeks of pregnancy you aren't actually pregnant but you start counting from the first day of your last period.
HELL YES MAK!!!! MOUTH TAPE IS THE BEST
In my teens and young 20s, I had no interest in being pregnant. Now as I get up towards 30, the idea has slowly grown on me and I understand "the pull".
I have two kids. After my first one a former coworker said she hadn’t pictured kids as something I wanted but in my late twenties I started looking at little kids with a sense of longing and my sisters had kids when I was 24 and 27.
My first was born a few weeks before I turned 31 and my second around 4 years later. My mom had quick and relatively easy pregnancies and births. The same was true for me. My older sister had fertility issues and my younger sister had each of her three kids three or more weeks early so I was lucky.
My best friend had each of her kids past their due date and our neighbor had to be hospitalized with severe morning sickness so I know I was spared a lot of the hardships others faced.
Dad, googling, with immense concern on their face 34:52
Ok, I am a birth doula (who is young and doesn't have children of my own) and there is SO MUCH to know about pregnancy and birth that makes it less scary...I promise
WNBA players Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart have vids on YT explaining their egg freezing journeys, for anyone who needs a deeper dive. Sue was 38 when she froze hers, and had 10 viable eggs, while Stewart was 26 and had 42 viable eggs.
Woo appartment! Woo eggs! Woo Alayna with a bun!
edit- Mom is bringing the Elfin Magic today. Just needs some points on them ears. 35 mins in and Taping Your Mouth while you Sleeps sounds like a fantastic idea. I'd like not deal to have with my facial hair though so I'd been thinking about a ribbon or soft elastic band...
