Ford has announced plans to eliminate sedans from its model lineup, leaving the Mustang as its only non-truck or SUV offering. But before that happens, it's delivering the 2019 Fusion Energi with 25 miles of all-electric range and the Ford CoPilot360 suite of advanced safety features included as standard equipment.
The Energi looks like a regular Fusion, save the small charge-port door on the front fender. This will undoubtedly appeal to some shoppers who don’t like the polarizing looks of other competing EVs. Inside, front and rear space is ample. The trunk is a different story, as the already-small 12-cubic-foot trunk from the standard Fusion shrinks to a nearly unusable 8.2 cubic feet, thanks to the encroaching battery packs.
Ford Sync 3 comes standard and will run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the 12-speaker Sony audio system fills the cabin nicely. Most notable are the Fusion Energi’s safety features, which include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high-beams, and a reversing camera.
Pricing sits at $36,595 for the Titanium trim (the only trim available for the Fusion Energi). There’s only one option-a $1,095 power moonroof-and the destination charge costs $895. For more information on the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi, read Mike’s full review on CarGurus: cargur.us/tx3mZ

Ok, here in 2023 just bought a used 2019 fusion energi a few weeks ago, loving it! Being a math nerd I love the statistics and info it gives me. Plug it in every night, run on electricity only to work and back. Fun car driving at night with the ambient lighting and sun roof open!
Cons: Smallest trunk I've seen. Not much get up and go when you step on the gas.
Pros: Electric only to work and back, great gas mileage, night driving is fun, still feels luxurious, 12 speaker sony audio system that sounds tight (not real loud though), and of course buying used in 2023 gets you up to $4000 back during taxes next year!

I'm glad you have a good experience as well. I purchased mine last year and love my Fusion Energi. I think for those thinking about purchasing this car, you should consider your average daily driving. For those who drive on average 30 miles in a day, this is a great car. If you drive over 50 miles in a day, I would consider looking at other options. It charges overnight so you really don't need anything more than a standard wall outlet. I live in MN where it gets COLD, range does drop to about 17 miles in the winter so that's another consideration.

@gerhardhyskollari2193 I've been normally getting in the summer about 38-44 mpg going only 60ish mph. On interstate it goes down to about 34-36. And this is all after the charge is depleted, on hybrid mode.

I have a 2017, getting the 2019 after owning an Audi Cabrio and Lexus ES350.
I drive 80 miles round trip to and from work every day on the Long Island Expressway (HOV lane eligible) which saves me at least 10-15 minutes off of my commute on a periodically brutal highway. It's quiet, comfortable ride where the gas savings basically pays for the car. I fill up once almost every 2 weeks, and kicking around town in local driving I burn no gas. Plus in electric mode, the car has a little zip to it.
I disagree about the feel of the interior, I like the layout and accessibility. The entertainment center kicks ass, and now they will have Waze integration on the new model.
I hope that Ford doesn't discontinue this model, it's a great car.

Actually it's close. I got a 2019 Hybrid Fusion SE (Not plug in) with low miles for 15k. It's a nice car and the SE is only 1 trim up from the base but has all the safety stuff, SYNC 3, Android Auto, and both front seats are powered. It drives really nice. I have had a few Fords so I'm kinda obvious to the fit issues most reviewers point out. It doesn't squeak, everything works intuitively for me.

I'm very disappointed that Ford stopped manufacturing the Fusion lineup. I drove my mom's 2016 Fusion Energi in a sparkly blue color, and I fell in love with the range. I know how to efficiently drive on EV as well. I drove for about 30 minutes and was able to finish my commute with 100% energy return.

Just came from 4 days renting a '19 Fusion Hybrid Titanium here in the desert. Very nice car, very un-hybrid like behavior, smooth, whisper quiet on Interstate 10, comfortable, and reasonably roomy. EXTRA fuel efficient, of course. The hybrid seems to be the way to go, at least until Ford jettisons the Fusion. And that Velocity blue paint is gorgeous. Keep rocking the beard, Perkins!! 😉 Good honest review 🐻

I have had my 2019 Ford Fusion Energi for 30 days. Using a Kill-a-Watt meter, it cost me $34.49 in electricity to charge it or about $1.15 per day (less than a cup of coffee). This is for all city driving and in Canadian funds.
I should add my electric company charges 15 cents per kwh.

I just bought one of these cars a few months ago and I love it! This is my daily driver for my 23.5 mile (each way) commute to and from work, 80% of which is 60 mph highway driving. I don’t know how this reviewer was getting such bad EV range. In upper 60F temperatures I can get all the way to work, take the car to lunch and back, and then get almost halfway home on one charge (about 33 total plug-in miles) and it’s getting better as the days get warmer. Oh and after negotiating and instant rebates it only costs me $31.5k plus tax and then I’ll be getting the tax rebate next year on top of that. I chose it over the competition because it looks so much better and its rated 26 mile EV range was more than enough for me. Better mpg than expected was icing on the cake!

I bought a 2015 new from the factory. I previously had a hatchback Subaru Forester. I virtually always had it full of junk because of the available room just tended to collect stuff back there. With the FFET Trunk you are forced to be aware of what you have back there so you just tend to keep it junk free all the time. I could pack a large samsonite, a carry-on and backpack; plus assorted odds and ends like spare tire pump, cleaning supplies, a first aid kit, flashlight, and an extra pair of shoes. Not bad. I never had any issues going to sams and getting everthing home. I don't have kids so the Energi is great. Style is #1 and battery life was very good. I will most likely be getting another soon as a replacement.

I have a 15 Fusion Energi Titanium and love it. Yes the trunk space is unusually bad. Otherwise a used Fusion is a great value. Having a midsized car is a step up from the many small cars I've owned. The Fusion handles like a much more expensive car, and it's the best car I've ever owned for winter driving. All that and I average 60mpg. I plan to upgrade to a 19 Energi soon.

Ivan Vojt cargo space is worth the sacrifice to have all of that technology, all of that comfort, and all of the gas mileage performance for under $25,000 with total current rebates. This guy failed to report on the actual price of the car. For most of this year 2019 Ford is offering a total of more than $12,000 in rebates, depending on how you lease it or how you purchase it. Being that the car will not be manufactured anymore, it would naturally be best to lease it so you wouldn’t have to worry about resale value. For the cost, is actually the best car on the market at this time LOL. No I do not work for Ford but I just leased one of these cars 😁👍

This review falls painfully short of providing very important information. You might want to edit and inform your viewers of the rebate program that has been in place for almost 3 full months and lasts up until July 1st 2019, which likely will be extended beyond that date depending on sales of these energi’s. You mentioned the competition but failed miserably in quoting specifics on what a lease or a purchase would actually cost the consumer. That would be a MINIMUM DIRECT INSTANT REBATE from FORD for exactly $10,001.00 - shrinking the cost of this car well below $26,000!!! This information is available on Fords website and has been available. With the cost of the car reduced dramatically LOWER than the competition, the plastic buttons you don’t like 🙄, or the poor trunk space just might be livable lol. The driving range on this car is an example of how much better it does over its competition. Yes the trunk space is smaller, and the buttons are not as glorious LOL, but on virtually the same tank of gas, you’re getting almost 200 more miles of driving and paying TWN THOUSAND LESS FOR THIS CAR! 👌👍

    • @chrisblaise4473
      @chrisblaise4473 5 лет назад +1

      * TEN THOUSAND LESS. ALSO, If you’re a taller driver, the energi has the most legroom (by a large amount) and the stereo system in the ford sounds 10 times better than the competition, specifically all of the plug-in hybrids. The Sony system in the Ford at half volume significantly out performs all of the other stereo systems. I have driven all of them, and I have made my decision to go with the ford fusion energi. ‘All of them’ includes all similar plugins: the Chevy, the Honda clarity, the Prius prime, the Hyundai sonata plug in and the Kia Optima plug in. Ford has a smaller trunk and wins with literally everything else., including ride comfort. Just lease the thing and you won’t have to worry about the resale value of a car that’s been eliminated!

It's a shame that Ford seems to have ditched the high-end leather interior for soft touch in 2019. They even had stitched a leather dash and cross-stitched accents on the doors for the 2018 Energi. It really put the interior visually in the same league with Jaguar, BMW and Mercedes. That quality was a major seller for me; especially given the Energi's affordable price point. I'll still likely invest in the 2019 or the 2020 if it's still around, as I currently own a 2015 and love the car, but that massive interior downgrade is a SERIOUS bummer.

It looks like a car (not a science project) has great power, amazing fuel economy, it’s comfortable, fun to drive and handles great. The sticker was 37,000 and change, I got the car for under 25,000 capitalized cost price on the lease. Naturally I leased it because the car won’t be made anymore so it will lose significant resale value.
