Ive only had a 5.7 hemi for couple months. Your videos have removed all fear and hesitation about tearing into one. I have worked on cars my entire life and a bit old school. Fuel injection and the modern advancements have always stopped me from looking into them myself and send them to the shop. Appreciate all your videos on the Hemi. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 w/5.7. Need to replace a valve guide seal here shortly, this video helps a lot with that. As for getting hit in the face, glad you're OK. Its a bit ironic you have a sign hanging on the wall that says "use ya brain". I have a sign in my own shop that says, "Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and you make bad decisions." I've been there, but like I taught my kids, experience is a good teacher!. Stay safe.

Sky, I could tell this stressed you out some. You handled this problem well. You did repair it promptly and returned the car to the owner. The broken valve spring did not get loose and cause damage to the head. Just the valve guide seal needed replacing. None of this was your fault. Just bad luck in getting a faulty valve spring. You are a good, honest and highly skilled mechanic. :)

I want to see you do another HEMI LX Platform Project!! I've Absolutely enjoyed these episodes of this Chrysler 300C! It's my Dream Car, and it's my First Vehicle as well! Watching these kinds of videos that you hardly find on RUclips that covers specifically the 2005-2010 Model Year 300C 5.7 just Absolutely gets me excited! And I've really enjoyed this Series!
Awesome job!!!! I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 and have done work on it. I changed all the coils and spark plugs on June 2019 . Last week the vehicle shut down while at the red light but was able to make it to my destination. I thought I may have a bad camshaft or crankshaft as I ran into the same situation last year. So I went to an auto store to find out what codes may come up. The computer came up with P0344.and cylinder 2 misfiring. After several ours trying to find out why it was misfiring I decided to replaced the camshaft . When I turn the vehicle on it was still misfiring. So I decided to check the spark plug on cylinder 2. Everything looked normal with the spark plug. At that point I decided to put the factory coil and removed the new coil I had replaced in 2019. To make the story short the vehicle turned on with no misfire or any issues. I drove the vehicle to see mom which is an hour and 30 minutes away to test it out and drove back and no issue. The moral of the story is best to purchase factory parts.
Damn. Damn..... that was close to an eye. Glad you ended up ok. I remember once I had a metal coil fish tape. I was preaching to my son about wearing safety glasses just as I lost my grip on the coil. The end of it hit right in the middle of the left eye safety glass lens. That would have been an eye as well. Then there was the Torch incident. LOL, we won't even go there.........
You sure made an easy job hard! Did not need to remove the head! Air in the cylinder will hold valve up and closed while replacing the spring with a simple spring compressor tool!
I noticed you were grinding by a roll of paper towel and thought, that's brilliant... But when you smacked your melon, I almost peed!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!! Outstanding job quickly isolating the problem... You have passion for what you do!!! Are you gonna do any Mustang projects? Coyotes? 😁
Hey Reignited guy! I love all of your videos. 1 question though how much psi do you run through the compression you said "Shop Air" is that something that I should already know. I just don't want to shoot too much air.
It's pretty much impossible to run too much, any amount of air will be far less than the combustion pressures. But generally I'll use about 90psi. You just have to make sure it's enough to hold the valve up. 👍
Great video! I had to buy a reman original Mopar head for my 15 truck 5.7. It has the same casting number but my original springs has a color mark on the and the reman head does not. Would you suggest swapping the springs or do you thing it will be ok? Thanks
I think you'll be fine, this particular cylinder head was a really cheap aftermarket option that was purchased awhile ago. You could tell it was pretty sub-par.
Weird question. When replacing valve springs, should I also replace the retainer, and valve guide seal? No damage just upgrading cam. Wanna make sure ive got all the parts
Up to you really. I would say if you are already that far then go ahead and replace the valve stem seals at the same time. The retainer? Not so much unless you have reason to suspect there's an issue with them.
Any way you would be willing to make another tool like that ? I would be Intrested as a tech that tool would by far make my life easier on my 300c (in process of cam and valve stem seals) and that would be a nice to have tool
hey !! im new to this channel and im thinking of buying a 5.7 l 2007 chrysler 300 c, but im super hesitant because i don’t know nothing about cars, should i purchase it. It has a salvage history too
I'd be wary of it myself. Cars with a salvage history usually have other hidden problems as well, and if you're not equipped to take care of them it could end up costing you more than the car is worth. On the other hand, if you're looking to start learning about cars this is a pretty good platform to do so. Just expect that work will have to be done on a car of that age. 👍
Ha, no. That cylinder head was from an engine that dropped a valve seat. That's what the combustion chamber looks like after the seat busts into a million pieces. 👍
Hey obviously you don't have the 300 no more but you should have made a video on checking trans fluid since there's no actual dipstick you need a type of universal one, but I'm sure you could also improvise with something unless you made one and Im completely missing that video

Hello & nice greetings from Bavaria (Germany) 👋🙂🍀 I've subscribed new your Channel, after i've found your Video about the HEMI tick, because i've got a 2006 Dodge Charger RT Daytona now and i'm a professionelle Auto mechanic and i'm also restoring US classic cars like a 67 Chevy Caprice 4 Door Hardtop...and if i didn't do working on Cars like those US Cars and especially also Alfa Romeo, i'm drawing and Styling/designing Cars too ...you could say that i've an real Auto Tick, hopefully Not an HEMI tick!😂😅 But what i would ask you something after i've seen in this Video, that you've dissasambled / detached the cyl. head from the Block for the Valve spring Change... Because i think about if it's necessary to do detache the cyl.head from the Block for this Job??? Because i think, If you'll turn the crankshaft or even the right Piston Up to the upside death Point (OT) were you'll change a Valve spring, you must not dissasamble the Motor/the head from the Block i think.... right? I know different Tools to get out the Valve spring. And when the Piston at this cyl. is at the OT, the valve doesn't fall down/or in the cyl. So it should possible to get out the spring i think...? I'm new at the Gen. 3 Eagle HEMI'S, because this 2006 Dodge Charger RT Daytona is my 1st HEMI and Chrysler Car. And now i'm really afraid about what i've heared about the Roller-lifter failures, and especially the Valve Seat Rings what could fall out the cyl.head with the result of bigger, serious Motor damages. And i'm afraid about a possible result of an damage at the HEMI of my Charger, because the seller sended the Car to the big Journey above the big pond without enough Motoroil in it. What Made me really angry after i've seen that the motoroil was under the SAFE Mark at the oil Stick. I really really hope that the engine has No Problem after it was running with ~1.5 liters of less Motoroil in it for that time of the journey with the ship. It runns quiet and nice, and the oilpressure was good in the Combiinstrument with that less Motoroil. But hey, i think that's really Not nice, especially because the seller had only to fill Up the motoroil before he sended the car to the ship. The HEMI didn't run a long time with that less Motoroil and Not really above idleing rpms. That could be the posdibility that i've luck and the HEMI is healthy. But i'll see. Because i'm driving Motorsports with Alfa Romeo cars, i've used mostly 5W40 Motoroil and the Most Inline 5 cylinder 2.4 JTD 20V Commonrail Diesel in the Alfa Romeo 156 had arrived more than 450.000-800.000km with the 1st Turbo, 1st Engine, 1st Clutch &&& they was used in Track & Motorsport conditions, also daily. More than 4 Alfa Romeo 156 with that Engine had more than 400.000kms. and they didn't saw changed new Motoroil so often. ( All ~20.000- 30.000km ) but those engines didn't need oil or burned it. However that These Motors had and has more than 400.000-800.000km with the 1st Turbo. It's amazing i think. Because i didn't know many modern engines what are so Solid as a Rock. Now with the 5.7 HEMI in the Charger, all is new for me. And I really really hope i've got a also Solid Engine with that. The Car itself looks a little like a time capsul. Because it's looking Not like an 14 years and 132.000mls (222.000km) old Car, especially because it's a yellow (Top Banana), also the color and Body is in a great shape. I'll use the Car daily, i Hope so, but even with care of it. But what do you think about that issue/Problem of the Gen. 3 Eagle HEMI's of that 2006 Series with the loosing Valve Seat Rings? The HEMI in that one has its mileage and age, and it's possible that the Valve Seat Rings could be lost i think, because it's often a issue of these HEMI's i've heared about..... What do you think about, and, what would you do in my Situation...with the new old Charger, and a HEMI of the Series with that issue...? Now have a great day and i'm happy that i've found you/your Channel 🍀😋👋
Thanks for the kind words my friend, and Greetings from Texas! 😀 The cylinder head that I'm showing in the video on the bench is not the cylinder head that is on the car. It's a spare cylinder head that I was using to pull the factory valve springs from so I could swap them onto the cylinder head still in the car. You are correct that there is no need to pull the cylinder head to perform this job. 👍 the 2006-2008 Hemi engines do not seem to suffer the roller lifter failure of the '09+ models. However, as you mentioned they are more likely to have the failed valve seat issue. Honestly, there's not much you can do to prevent this issue. I've heard of people removing the cylinder heads and dimpling the surface of the seat so it presses more firmly into the aluminum housing, but that seems like a lot of work for a "might happen" issue. It does happen, but I'm not willing to worry about it until it does, because it doesn't happen to all of them. That's crazy you have a '67 Caprice over there! Cool car man 👍 As far as the oil level goes, I've honestly seen people drive these things with about a quart and half of oil in them, and the engines still seem to be ok after they are topped up. Not like I recommend that or anything 😅 I appreciate your time and thank you for watching!
Here's a thought...why not stream line the tool u made for valve spring removal and sell them to help fund ur channel, maybe through I a free t-shirt for advertising
Have a 2008 Chrysler 300 c it threw a p0306 code took the heads to a machine shop they replaced the springs and valves i replaced all the spark plugs and its cylinder 6 still not working .. what else i need to do to fix
At this point I'd probably start with a compression test on that cylinder. It's the misfire constant or intermittent? And is it more present at idle or under load?
I am shocked the keepers didn't fly off the valve stem, they always seem to try and get away from me and hide in the damnest places in the heads. As far as things going wrong, they surely failed in the best way possible to avoid catastrophic failure.
That was the spare cylinder head that I was removing the valve springs from to repair the vehicle. That cylinder head had a valve seat failure so the combustion chamber is all chewed up. 👍

@@ReignitedAuto well you made some mistakes and missed a few things(some you didnt film maybe)... but what parts did you replace "getting it out the door"? Did you replace the springs with new ones? I know the head refurb guys slap the old springs in it. Did you have the valve seats redone?
@@sketchydustin8372 sure didn't 😄. With used cars there's things you do and things you don't. If I went through and refurbished absolutely everything I touched I'd have $15k in a car worth half of that. If its your personal car and you want to pay for all that by all means do so.
Cool car man 👍
As far as the oil level goes, I've honestly seen people drive these things with about a quart and half of oil in them, and the engines still seem to be ok after they are topped up. Not like I recommend that or anything 😅
I appreciate your time and thank you for watching!
We’re those Manley Springs?
Here's a thought...why not stream line the tool u made for valve spring removal and sell them to help fund ur channel, maybe through I a free t-shirt for advertising
What’s the name of that compression tool? 7:14
I'm more impressed that you didn't cuss.
Yes! Rule number one. Wear safety glasses at all times.
@@ReignitedAuto compression test was done at the machine shop now I have it at another shop waiting to see what they say
Could it be the camshaft or lifters
@rickybennett7387 possibly, but it's much less likely to see lifter issues on pre 2009 engines.
Awesome
I’ve replaced two on mine without removing heads
I am shocked the keepers didn't fly off the valve stem, they always seem to try and get away from me and hide in the damnest places in the heads. As far as things going wrong, they surely failed in the best way possible to avoid catastrophic failure.
Valve keepers might be slightly magical, as they can disappear whenever they wish 👍
Where you at in Texas?
North Austin
The driver side cylinder head looked damaged, or is that normal.
That was the spare cylinder head that I was removing the valve springs from to repair the vehicle. That cylinder head had a valve seat failure so the combustion chamber is all chewed up. 👍
Hope you are alright
😄 Thanks man, all good, not my first black eye, likely not my last!
My 06 magnum rt awd dropped a valve seat @192k miles
Ouch.
Hard to feel more dumb than when you punch yourself in the face 😄
Hey it happens
Ouch
It actually did hurt quite a bit 😳😅
I wish you would have show more in detail process and more up close the camera. overall always good!
I have the same car and wheels..lol
That's because you have style 😎
Great videos you make, but wear your goggles :)
Too right!
Goggles 🥽
That’s Using your brain!
your is cheaper for sure, but they make a tool for this
Absolutely, I just couldn't get one on the day of because it was a holiday. 👍
Dude where we're your "safety glasses" when you we're drilling? 😒 sorry but I've seen too many accidents because of that, you got lucky.... PLZ wear your glasses!! 😟
9/10 times I am, just got in a rush that day trying to jam it out for the customer. Good reminders not to skip steps!
Use Ya Brain!!
The springs are a cheap product of china.
this guy wont get much life out of this if you not replacing parts you should be... lifters and springs other maintenance parts were not done on rebuild. I understand you want as much money as you can like most... but i wouldnt buy off you :)
This from a guy named "Sketchy" 😂 No worries my man we all have our own opinions.
But as a business if you operate at a loss like that you're out of business quickly. But I'm sure you understand that.
@@ReignitedAuto Makes sense, and this is why I would never buy a mechanic special :) because I know they do everything on the cheap. hah at least you covered him for a half hour. I tend to do the reasonable stuff, that should be done, and i show receipts... Did you tell the buyer you fixed the engine or just let the buyer beware...Little used car lots are bad also
