This is an amazing duo. Bruce is open hearted, honest and spontaneous. Sting is mysterious, deep and ethereal. It's great to see the two combined: every possible emotion is expressed. Two major artists together.
Bravo Brus. Volim te kralju moj. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️..
Roy Bittan! - the great unsung hero of Bruces's work! Awesome piano work! Never misses a note, watches Bruce like a hawk, catches every nuance, knows when to throw in a fill and a flourish - Genius!
Great version of a great song. Saw Bruce in 1985 at his biggest concert to date at the time. He played the intro to The River and the fans took over. 100,000 people sang it start to finish. Amazing! I have to say, one of them got the weather forecast wrong. Sting's wrapped up like it's -10, Bruce in his sleeveless number!
Wow! What a blast from my past! I was sitting in the front row toward the right side of the stage. When Bruce came out on the stage before they started singing it was such a surprise to me, because he was literally right in front of me. The audience started to shout, cheer, and applaud. Two legends, on one stage, singing into one microphone one heck of a song, it was so awesome!
I was there that night on River Plate Stadium on the Amnesty Tour in my City of Buenos Aires!!! I remember that night perfectly! Incredible show!! unforgettable!
"...is a dream a lie if it don't come true..." I don't know, but I know that this song is special, and it changed me...For that, Bruce, I thank you...:) simply beautiful...
Great version of a great song. Saw Bruce in 1985 at his biggest concert to date at the time. He started the intro toThe River and the fans took over. 100,000 people sang it, start to finish. Amazing!
I saw this concert on TV when I was 16 still I remember every note and even this pullover on Sting :) Ever since this song is one of my favourite. This tour was simply fantastic.
the way Bruce writes... makes you think "hey I could write that too". it's so simple yet so complex at the same time. what he writes and how he writes hits you on the face. you feel "this is my story". you relate to it. two thumbs up for this song and others Bruce has written and for the ones he will write and blow us all away !
i usually listen to black metal, brutal deathmetal, melodeath, etc but this might be the best song ever made. so much feeling and passion in the vocals and the playing, awesome:)
one of the most amazing songs ever written. one of the best performences just genius, incredible, brilliant! There's no words that could describe the beauty of this song. And Sting and Bruce... espacially Bruce... oh my! there's just no way to describe it.
So good to hear this again. Sting's haunting vocal, Springsteen's awesome gravitas. Two of our best Rock Stars at the top of their game. I'll remember that Amnesty Tour at Wembley Stadium for the rest of my life.
Bruce wrote it, so obviously it is his song, but it is very interesting to hear Sting's ethereal voice singing it. It gives the song a different edge. They are both geniuses. Love it!!
what makes this version even better than the original is in my opinion the awesome piano. it fits perfect and this two voices together are just amazing
I was there in the Hungarian concert (this is from the Concert for Human Rights tour back in 1988) and saw them sing this and Every Breath You Take together. I cannot tell you what an experience it was!!!
Absolutely unbelieveble...Great song for Sting to sing...brilliant ending with the harp and electric violin. Honestly, bruce probably asked him to sing it.
It's very interesting that when other famous musicians sing Springsteen's music, they sing it with great passion and conviction as it to say 'I wish I wrote that.' It's really a tremendous tribute to Springsteen.
I saw them live in Buenos Aires and unless Sting wore the same outfit everytime this looks like the same one. Bruce was the star his live peformance was amazing! Thanks for the vid.
Looked long & hard to find this gem. The Boss and Sting's vocals really bring something to this song. Saw them on the Amnesty Tour in London, think they may have sung this together. So sad, but so beautiful. Brilliant. Poor old Clarence Clemons God rest his soul, a gentle giant. Sting looks so handsome here & Bruce is just the epitomy of cool. What a total dude. And whoever is playing that piano - just Wow! B E A U T I F U L.
@WatchingViking You can make up for the past by listening now as often as possible. You are lucky to have seen bruce and u2 two times. I haven't seen any of these artists but have been listening to bruce since early 80's up in the tibet area where I was trekking and met one American who gave me bruce's cassette which had a "point blank" song.
The more I listen to stuff on RUclips the more I realise and understand the genius of the E Street Band - does Bruce ever look at them, give them directions, indicate key changes? It's like their bloody psychic!
Wow! They sound really good together!!! 'Course, there's not much that Sting doesn't do well. Springteen's a legend, too. What a duo!! Great video, virus0101 !!!
unbelievable ..sting sounds raspy and low..almost like bruce... he is channeling bruce..wow..then sometimes he changes into sting phrasing...but the sound ...he's channeling..wow...respect...m and shows how hard bruce's songs are to sing... there's not many covering him..it's just hard... it's just the way he phrases sings...
Great video...such a great song and I think Sting's contribution is heartfelt and works musically...Speaking of mucical contributions on this video, the piano player is a rather big part of this presentation..could it be...Bruce Hornsby..yes
sorry it wasn't in Hungary, it was in TORINO, Italy, and I was there: I still remember like if it was yesterday this magic moment, and that Sting didn't have the voice. so many memories! such a unique concert!
@Marcoace88 I have seen this performance live in Budapest, Hungary, in the 80ies. I am ever so grateful that I could be there. It was cathartic. I love them both, but Bruce Springsteen is something else.
Sooo unendlich schön
Sting and The Boss puts on amazing performances, but the best thing about this version is the STUNNING piano playing by Roy Bittan. Simply superb!
This is an amazing duo. Bruce is open hearted, honest and spontaneous. Sting is mysterious, deep and ethereal. It's great to see the two combined: every possible emotion is expressed. Two major artists together.
What do you get if you put two of the best singers ever together on a stage ? This, Pure Beauty.
Bravo Brus. Volim te kralju moj. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️..
such an epic moment. thumbs up who thinks that Bruce and Sting are one of the greatest singers ever.
Roy Bittan! - the great unsung hero of Bruces's work! Awesome piano work! Never misses a note, watches Bruce like a hawk, catches every nuance, knows when to throw in a fill and a flourish - Genius!
Two living musical legends, together, singing a great song. And it was free. Thanks, RUclips!

I have to say, one of them got the weather forecast wrong. Sting's wrapped up like it's -10, Bruce in his sleeveless number!
I think it's fair to say that Bruce is one of the few artists who sound better live than on their albums.
Wow! What a blast from my past! I was sitting in the front row toward the right side of the stage. When Bruce came out on the stage before they started singing it was such a surprise to me, because he was literally right in front of me. The audience started to shout, cheer, and applaud. I was there that night on River Plate Stadium on the Amnesty Tour in my City of Buenos Aires!!! I remember that night perfectly! Incredible show!! unforgettable!
Two great friends and performers, they produce a memorable version of this haunting song.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i honestly think this is the best performance of The River. Sting brings somthing amazing into this song and makes it better and more emotional.
"...is a dream a lie if it don't come true..."
I don't know, but I know that this song is special, and it changed me...For that, Bruce, I thank you...:) simply beautiful...
absolutely fantastic. thats what i love about youtube..you find these duets you never knew existed.. and they are unbelievable.!!
Great version of a great song. Saw Bruce in 1985 at his biggest concert to date at the time. He started the intro toThe River and the fans took over. 100,000 people sang it, start to finish. Amazing!
This is INCREDIBLE.. Bruce guiding the band behind Stings back, slowing it down, without even looking, he just knows they fall in.. Class !!!
Oh man, that ending has been getting to me forever.
Unbelievably fantastic.
Hvala vam na ovom briljantnom videu. ❤️❤️❤️.
I saw this concert on TV when I was 16 still I remember every note and even this pullover on Sting :) Ever since this song is one of my favourite. This tour was simply fantastic.
I can`t unerstand much of the lyrics-- but what intimacy and power comes across of these two guys!!! Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!
Bruce was freaking handsome ugghh! Love his curly hair!
I absolutely love this! Great harmony on the chorus, and love when Bruce comes in for his verses! I just can't get enough of this song!
the way Bruce writes... makes you think "hey I could write that too". it's so simple yet so complex at the same time. what he writes and how he writes hits you on the face. you feel "this is my story". you relate to it. two thumbs up for this song and others Bruce has written and for the ones he will write and blow us all away !
Unbelievable!!!
IMHO, this is the best version.
I like the background music - the piano adds another dimension to this legendary song.
It had been a long time since I saw two great singers using one mic....
Great song.
Fantastic combination of a sweet and powerfull voice!
Simply breath taking
i usually listen to black metal, brutal deathmetal, melodeath, etc but this might be the best song ever made. so much feeling and passion in the vocals and the playing, awesome:)
one of the most amazing songs ever written. one of the best performences
just genius, incredible, brilliant! There's no words that could describe the beauty of this song. And Sting and Bruce... espacially Bruce... oh my! there's just no way to describe it.
Epic performance. Even though I'm an atheist, the word "divine" encapsulates this song
What a great combination of voices! And such a nice sweater!

This is just beautiful. Two greats working together in harmony. One The Boss' greatest songs done in extraordinary style.

Amazing performance, this song goes straight to the heart.
Oh! They look so young! They are my heroes!! I listened to "The River" when I was in high school. I wish I was there watching this fabulous stage...
