Bruce Springsteen and Rem during vote for change concert in Washington. One of the greatest duets ever. Watch Springsteen shaking his hips during the Elvis bit, hilarious.
@@davdmansell3130 hi there, as you probably Noticed by my 3 previous posts on the same subject, I bet you know that I am the Queen of redundancy when I get excited
Still get goose bumps thinking about that night! The Boss, R.E.M, Pearl Jam, the Dave Matthews Band, John Fogerty, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Keb Mo, Babyface, and the Dixie Chicks. Once in a lifetime event!
Two of the only musicians I made the effort to see multiple times when they were in their prime. So thankful they were playing through my speakers when I was a young kid just starting to find my way in the world.
Thank goodness Love it ! At 76 have always felt the news of a man on on the moon should have gotten an award for best lie of all time. Really a man on the moon = BULL S.
I saw the St. Paul stop on this Vote for Change tour. Of course Man on the Moon with Springsteen backing up REM was amazing. We also got a guest performance from "a Canadian in the house," who happened to be Neil Young. It was the most incredible concert throughout!
@@Nancy94705 I did see Neil Young once. The walls in the building were dripping wet after the show because he rocked so hard. Most amazing show I ever been in.
I remember in 1991 reading a small article in the SF Chronicle about the revival showing of the 1980 Andy Kaufman film "Heartbleeps", and being profoundly saddened that he had essentially been completely forgotten in the seven years since his death. This magnificent, timeless song came out a year later, and permanently rescued his memory. I imagine he would be completely blown away by the beautiful randomness of it all.
FANTASTIC! Bruce Springsteen and Michael Stipe are two of my absolute favorites. I love Michael Stipe's dancing in this vid.. haha you can tell he's having a great time
I can't get enuff of this one...between Bruce, his talent, his awesome axe playing & just "being"...& Michael's antics...what an unlikely, but amazing pair...who'da thunk it ?!?
Wow - I already loved this song, but this version is incredible. There's a haunting quality about the verse that kind-of sounds like "I'm On Fire" to me. Totally fits Bruce. I wish there was a live album recording of this show out there somewhere to buy!
Wow,I couldn't have imagined that they could blend&play together so well..A real treat &good to see Michael stipe enjoying himself..and Bruce Springsteen doing what he has always done..Fantastic..
OMG...BRUCE sings it with this unbelievable voice !!!!! just HIM...so unique..it touches people i guess..that's why people keep commenting on him... soft , powerful...all in one... he means it.. just what would it be BRUCE and ELVIS together...two different worlds..yet... damnit..just had an idea for a remix...
WOW.I have seen Bruce in concert three times, bit it's easy to see how invested he is in this concert: this isn't his song; this isn't even in his key. And Bruce is legendary for how much of himself he gives when he is on stage. But I have never quite seen Bruce play with this much intensity in his guitar playing as he does here. God I love this man. Michael is damn good, too. But Bruce, WOW.
I've been into music for about a hundred years, and that song just knocks me out every time I hear it. This just may be my favorite version, so I'm over the moon here. Thanks, Steff.
Shay Farren : I'm just laughin' cuz I played this for my kids when it came out. Life without music is incomprehensible to me. I don't want to go there.
Was in a store and this song (REM version) was playing, went home and youtubed, Man on the Moon and this was the choice I selected - O M G, What A Gem! Awesome, can't believe I've never heard this before. Michael and Bruce, two of the greatest together with a GREAT song.
Maria if I was 25 years younger I'd kneel at your feet, with flowers And feel dumb but proud as well As life counts down the hours And the smile says I can face heĺl
Saw this show in Orlando. A magical night and they were having fun. Too bad we got another four years of Bush-Cheney. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on us all.
Great version of a great song! REM - One of if not THE first alternative band. God, this takes me back to the early 90s. Life was pretty simple then. When I was young I would snicker at those who always referenced "the good old days". Time sure can change your perspective. Anyway, love how Bruce really gets into it toward the end of the song. You can see him singing along at about the 4:14 mark and he's nowhere near a mic. That alone says something about how good of a song it is, imho.
Springsteen as a guitarist is highly underrated. See his duet with Guitar Virtuoso Tom Morello on "Ghost of Tom Joad" and Bruce holds his own on his solos until of course you get to the end and Morello goes absolutely nuts...but just wish these guys would actually care for America first candidates, not commies like Obama, Biden, Hildebeast etc.
They look like their having a ball up there on the stage, Stipe and The Boss are both getting down, everyone in the band is smiling, that just makes it more fun to watch.
Almost nobody has the stage presence to live with Bruce on stage but Michael Stipe does, an amazing performance
Michael Stipe is a true beat poet and a great performer.
Love Bruce but… he can’t match this bloke
Michael and Bruce play to the audience like a preacher on a hot Sunday afternoon.... that's talent
Isn't it just!
@@davdmansell3130 hi there, as you probably Noticed by my 3 previous posts on the same subject, I bet you know that I am the Queen of redundancy when I get excited
Perfect
100%
man they are sure having fun 😂😅😮❤❤❤😂😢
nobody can sing better than stipe. i love his voice
Totally unique
Absolutely
Debatable. But NO ON bounces like michael
Bono
no one bounces better either

Where was that at? That's crazy
bruce and michael both look so pumped to be playing this together. two american legends
Michael and Bruce are two very different singers and persons. Its amazing that they made this work so well
No problem, Bruce is a gentleman
That is what talented artists do.
Two of the only musicians I made the effort to see multiple times when they were in their prime. So thankful they were playing through my speakers when I was a young kid just starting to find my way in the world.
I love how Bruce put his best out there but still respected this was Michael and the rest of REM's show. No ego.
Michael and REM payed respect playing and singing Bruce´s "Because the night" in the same concert. T´was amazing too.
Springsteen's guitar playing and singing really took this to another level- a lot more powerful, punchy, a little darker. Loved it
What a front man Stipe is. You can't take your eyes off him. He lives the music - live Freddie.
Thank goodness Love it ! At 76 have always felt the news of a man on on the moon should have gotten an award for best lie of all time. Really a man on the moon = BULL S.
Bruce Springsteen shares the stage so graciously....lovely clip. Too bad that our elected officals are not as cool as these two men are.
Bruce has a perfect voice for this song. I don't like when singers makes covers, but in this case, i WANT one..
I love the way Stipe has the crowd under control at the start , he almost "raises his game " because Bruce is in tow ...great stuff , I miss REM
The combination I never knew I needed but should've been begging 4. 2 of my all time favs on 1 of my favorite songs.
This song fits Bruce like a glove, and its scary how well they combine.
I'd sell my soul to have been there and see these two music gods together. How could any arena hold such talent at the same time?

I was there, it was heaven.
I saw Bruce and REM do this in Cleveland. They blew the roof off of the place. Definitely the best song I ever saw performed live
@@RRPounder agree pretty special (in DC)
One thing about Springsteen that gets overlooked a lot: this guy is an extremely underrated lead guitar player
uh, no, he's not even that good.
Yeah. Sure. Underrated.
Agree
I NEVER get tired of this.
There is a reason these guys (and Andy) are stars.
Peter letting the Boss play lead is beyond badass
Oh my god, Michael's voice is amazing.

Michael and Bruce Together.... Simply Fantastic!
Bruce can play anything...one of the most underrated guitarists of all time as well as a songwriting legend
FANTASTIC! Bruce Springsteen and Michael Stipe are two of my absolute favorites. I love Michael Stipe's dancing in this vid.. haha you can tell he's having a great time
I saw Bruce in 1980 and REM in 1985.
Bruce with that Buck/Springsteen mash up solo was genius on this. And his voice was just so complimentary with Michael and Mike.
Bruce Springsteen: So, uh, Peter . . . what should I play on this?
Peter Buck: Whatever the hell you want to, man!
i noticed that every song that bruce sings make it his own...one of the best performers of the last 40 years...
Michael has such an amazing voice!!! I forgot how great this band was!!! Great performance!! How awesome Bruce on guitar!! ❤
What a brilliant performance...audience and musicians enjoyed equally...that's what music is all about...
Just a beautiful, heartfelt performance. Brought tears to my eyes.
Stipe has a great, gifted voice. He knows the art of singing. Exceptional lyricist too.

Saw this in 2004 in Detroit at the JLA. Still The Best Set Ever. Bonus with the Chicks and Fogerty showing up to sing Mary's Place as a finale
Probably the best performance REM has ever given. I like this better then even their induction to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame show.
Two supreme musical masters at work.
Bruce is GOD...what else Can I say?!?!?
Wow.Just wow.
R.E.M+Bruce Springsteen= Epic!
WOw
This is incredible. Great song, nice contribution from Bruce
Love REM. Love the Boss. This is spectacular 😁💖💥❤️😃
Zwei Giganten des Musikgeschäfts auf einer Bühne. Geile Sache. Sowas sollte es öfters geben.
Awesome combo Springsteen and REM 😮
What versatility! Taking a basically cerebral song and changing it into a visceral rocker!
Deux monstres sacrés sur scène indescriptible super ils se complètent avec talent 👍🥰😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Michael and Bruce magnificent love ❤❤❤ Bruce you and stipe were great❤❤❤❤❤
magic to see a great artist enjoying rocking to another great artists music....xcellent..

This version is awesome. I listen to it over and over again. I wish I could have seen it live. Great performance!!!!
I would have paid serious money to see this show.....REM and Springsteen...2 of the greatest of all time.
WOW!!! Fantastic version.
I don't think there is anything greater in music than seeing the joy of the artists as they play it. Fantastic set, I love it! +1
Michael Stipe plays with great joy.
I really love the way he does that Elvis the pelvis move.
Are we having fun?
yep

Wow,I couldn't have imagined that they could blend&play together so well..A real treat &good to see Michael stipe enjoying himself..and Bruce Springsteen doing what he has always done..Fantastic..
I favorited this one months ago, and I still come back and watch it regularly. What an oddball and yet perfect combination of talent.
Here they are...the best american band and the best american singer of the last 30 years together!!

2 of the best for the price of none..WOW
First time I've seen this. My respect for Bruce went up by 1000%
How did we survive without Internet? Fantastic duet! Never even heard of it being done!
two of the best artists of the last century together. classic

You could never bore of watching this - unbelievable.
Michael really brings the energy even when he's not singing.
12 year's late. But now I've seen this PERFECT Performance. Thank you for posting.
These are the two of the finest American song writers and musicians ever! A definate pick me up... a song dedication to the late Andy K!
If I were to see this song live, this is how I would want it!
This song is the literal representation of my childhood as I remember my dad playing it to me as a 3 year old, so much love for this song
Shay Farren : I'm just laughin' cuz I played this for my kids when it came out.
Life without music is incomprehensible to me. I don't want to go there.
Your dad is a great dad, there can not be a good parenting if dads don´t teach their children well and your dad sure he did.
Not at all forced. They were clearly having a good time together. Sounds great.
Stipe is incredible ! What a talent !
superb mixture between the Boss and REM.
"Mott the Hoople" - now that's a blast from the past.
So's Whist.
I agree one of the best duets ever. SO amazing!!!!
Bet Bruce had a blast. Sounded great.

Really great, thanks for posting this! REM are fantastic, and remained so down to earth, unbelievable!

Anyway,
Simply sensational!!!!! A true show in the strictest sense of the word. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
two stars... two star voices... brilliant
I watch this at least once a month. Unreeeeeeeeeal
I watch this once in every 6 minutes:)
Me too
This is one of the best performances
my dad sang this song at my uncle stevens send off party in norfolk aug 09 R.I.P uncle steven you were too young to go :(
AFter the 5 minute mark, you can see the passion of Bruce's playing in his eyes. Great solo as well !
Mike Mills is doing such a good Job at backup vocals, still amazes me. Such a good sound from rem
Mike Mills is so underrated, dude is a musical theory wizard in addition to having flawless backing vox.
