    I see a lot of detail videos where they are going over parts of the vehicle and Im thinking to myself "why?". I like Yvans approach. Level of cleaning effort is directly correlated with how dirty it is. It's not just a binary, all or nothing approach. That's wisdom.

  • @thesamsquatch5224
    @thesamsquatch5224 Год назад +4

    Very nice comparison! Both have a great work ethic but I see Yvan the minimalistic approach that gets the job done. Nick taking the full clean and sort of extra mile approach. Both work beautifully, I fall in the middle mostly. I really like this video and you both work well together!

      Foam cannon is always more fun :) but yes …Yvan knows how to get the job done in a super efficient way. Both approaches have a place no doubt!

  • @rheijne95

    Gosh Didn't think Yvan's method would work so well! Tried it three times now, each time completely impressed. I'd say this works perfectly for every wheel, except infinite spoke wheels. When the wheels is VERY dirty, it requires some extra towels and wiping. Of course getting in tight spots may require a brush. This method gets near ZERO water run-off! And a towel seems way more effective than a brush in getting off brake dust.
    I LOVE that the tires and wheels are completely dry afterwards. That makes applying tire shine a lot easier not having water drips.
    Thanks so much for showing me this!

    Great work guys. On light enough maintenance washes I'll even just use rinseless on the tire... But detailing hammered wheels and tires I've been where Nick went: brushes splattering wheel acid back on my arms and clothes, 2 and 3 rounds of APC on the tires, pressure washer etc... Charge accordingly is all I can say 😜

    I suppose, like anything else, it depends how well maintained things are and if the wheels are coated. I fall somewhere in between these extremes .. i don't foam car often so i start with APC, but i do get the rim/tires with different brushes. I finish up l off using a hose rinse with a shot of quick beads or wet coat before blow dry.

    Yes, if the tires look as good as those do to start, it will only take a light touch up. No use going crazy. But if you need to remove some tire browning you will have to do APC with some good old scrubbin! Towels won’t do it! Yes he’s using a DIY APC but it will still require scrubbing.

      First off, they all smell so good. The rinseless, ceramic gloss, and interior clean & protect. The rinseless is powerful. I usually use brake buster on my wheels but decided to just use DIY rinseless when I used it for the first time. It did an amazing job and couldn’t tell the difference from brake buster. It took off the brake dust no problem. It also took off the bugs which I usually use the jersey scrubber from the rag company with ONR on the front bumper which has PPF on it. No need with DIY rinseless. The majority of bugs actually come off during the prerinse. And I’m talking when hitting it with the pump sprayer with DIY rinseless not using a pressure washer. Really amazing stuff. Ceramic gloss as a drying aid made it quick and easy. When I came back out to drive the car a few hours later I really noticed the added gloss. Also used diy rinseless to clean the interior. I usually use the rinseless after the wash to quickly wipe down the inside. Definitely out performed ONR (which I usually use) on the inside. It cleaned better and it was easier to wipe off and didn’t leave anything noticeable on the plastics (have had trouble in the past having to really make sure I wiped). On days when I’m not doing the exterior and I’m cleaning the interior I usually use turtle wax dash and glass. My interior is usually not that dirty and just needs a quick wipe. Well DIY interior clean and protect is my new go to. It cleans better and leaves a better OEM finish. It also leaves my interior less prone to finger printing on the plastics. So far, the products are working amazing. Thanks!

  • @OhDannyBoy2k
    @OhDannyBoy2k 11 месяцев назад +2

    I just wanted to make sure I'm clear on Yvan's method with the All Clean. I know he wiped the wheel and tire down with the microfiber after spraying, but I'm assuming some residual from the All Clean will remain since the wheel wasn't rinsed after. That residual is safe to leave on the wheel face and tire rubber?

    How long does Tire Shine last? As someone new to detailing in his own car, I went back and forth on whether to buy one of those dressings. I don't think they are worth it if they only last a week.

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  Год назад +1

      A tire dressings durability is very much tied to prep, the better the prep the longer it will last. One month isn’t unheard of.

    • @stephen1503
      @stephen1503 Год назад +1

      If you clean your tire well, let them dry, even okay dressings can easily last 2 weeks. And honestly, if you plan on keeping up with your car once every 2 weeks, to a month, you can just apply it over a “dirty tire” when you see it fading.

    • @ShelterDogs
      @ShelterDogs Год назад

      Thank you. I had been under the impression it had to be squeaky clean prior to applying. I still feel like a coating like Blak might be the better way to go, though.

    Did Yvan spray the APC on the wheel as well? Or just the tire? I've been looking for an easier maintenance wash method for my wheels in between the heavy pressure-washer/iron remover cleanings (which, unfortunately are fairly often with Brembo brakes, lol).

    Now that the all clean concentrate is out, i see the exterior is said to dilute 15:1. For the non DIY use-is there any harm going stronger? Maybe 8-10:1? Thanks!

    Is the All Clean (being alkaline) not a problem in that dry cleaning method? That is, it isn't getting rinsed off even remotely. I honestly love using All Clean on wheels, but man am I worried about leaving any on and tend to I guess "Waste" a lot of my rinseless in my sprayer rinsing down my one wheel.

    Hard to see any difference, but what I did notice was Nick giving the iron-remover on a wet surface. I think I've covered it before in another video, but does the iron-remover not work best when it's sprayed onto a dry surface? The iron-remover will on a wet surface dissolve and work less good ... ?
