Someone beat me to saying to check your lifters and cam gear. But let us know if changing the boxes changes anything or if it stays the same? Nova looked good and was very consistent. Good luck on the next day of racing.

No luck with plugging in a brand new Digital 6AL Plus box…

@@PLANBRACING Damn! Well check crank triggers distributor and connections. Good luck on finding the problem.

Does it do the same thing if you try leaving off the footbrake and not the transbrake? Have you tried a different carb? Maybe it's not happy leaving wide open without a pump shot, hence why I asked if it does the same thing leaving off the foot. Does it have anything like a starter saver on it? I had one go bad one time and it was randomly pulling timing while the motor was running. Just tossing some things out there and seeing if anything sticks.

Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to try it off a footbrake last time out. Going to see if it’s pulling timing next!

I thought it sounded lazy like timing. I’d take a good look at the distributor or maybe the box. I have had issues with the start retard in those 7al3 boxes.

So. It’s not making any power on the two step?? I’m guessing you could put a timing light on it while the car is on the trans brake & see if your timing stays consistent. If it’s not ignition timing, then something is either wrong with the converter or the trans itself.

      We’ll give that a shot!

Is there a reason why your 2nd gear is so short when you do your burnouts?

No reason! Kind of how I’ve always done it… get the tires spinning in 2nd then just shift it to high gear!

Acks like cam walk..... I've had it happen before. You loose all your timing under load until rpms get up, makes it a pig!

Very interesting! We spent a lot of time with the cam button when assembling the engine and only had .009 - .010 of thrust if I remember right.

@@PLANBRACING Those older red 7al3 boxes had to have a zero degree chip in the retard ports or they could do goofy things. Don't know if the black boxes do it.

I’ll try that and see if anything changes! I tried a brand new Digital 6AL Plus box today with the same outcome unfortunately.
