You make gouache look like digital art wow :0
Gouache was the main medium for graphic artists back in the day.
@@hexkwondo It still is, with artists that work for ilustrated books
Gouache is actually really good for creating similar results to digital art. If your looking for such a thing there is an artist Syblline_m who makes similarly amazing gouache pieces.
@@kindafrenchbaguette6998 10 months later and i see this comment darn! I should've scrolled further on the thread haha. Just looking at her stuff I'm in love! That was a good recommendation
Fun fact: a lot of older Japanese animation was done with gouache. Digital painting techniques were sort of developed to imitate gouache
I didn't think gouache could look so sexy.
Dakota Mullikin calm down its only a portrait. (but holy shit damn I’m so gay)

Check laovaan on tumblr. U will love it.
And GOUACHE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO SEXY!!!!!!!!!!
_I'm choking at the sight of improvement._
P u g g l e s, I can't breathe lol.
I learned something that I haven’t heard of.
Same 😩😜
Me too :">
What the hell, i was just about to start a gouache painting! xD
Your little mascot is so cute, and the painting was so beautiful! I love it so much!
I was like:
Aw🥺
I love how you showed the first attempt of that portrait as well. It shows that everyone (including the talented artists of the world) make mistakes and learn from them.
Thanks for the video!
I bought gouache bc my Favorit instagram artist uses it and I hate hate hate hate hate how it dries. I tried so often but I will never like them. But thanks very much for the Tipps!

**never fall asleep watching YT.... just noticed this* ** 😶😶😶
Maybe you used it like watercolors? I find qouache to be more similar to oils than it is to watercolor. When I practice with gouache I go look for oil painting tutorials instead.
The best approach is to start the base like watercolors, then layer like oil, except goache will sometimes reactivate especially when using tons of water.
Goache is always better fresh from the tube but it's still usuable when put and dried on a pan/palette
who is your favorite instagram artist? *-*
Holbein has an acrylic gouache line which I find has the best of both worlds.
same, i love watercolors and oils but gouache is just not for me
I know this is really irrelevant but I love the sound of your voice-- like its so calming yet not to soft to not listen to?? Im also curious about your accent 👀
Apparently, he is German.
+Yulia Gabysheva Nah, in his deviantart, it shows that he's german
He is definitely russian.
no. hes chinese
@Yulia Gabysheva But you know that Germans also use k's and t's and sh's? ^^
Wow, yesterday I did a gouache painting and I had trouble blending some of the colors. Thanks for the tutorial, I'll try some new techniques. Love your art, as always :)
Amazing *0* Thanks for making this video!
Fancy seeing you here Nicolle, I love your work! ^-^
Hi Andrea!
Hiii!
Oh wow! Wasn't expecting to see you here Nicolle!
Yeah, so my first art teacher was a little bit too strict with us and I've been stuck in the same boundaries she'd set up for us for years now. I've never even tried washing gouache down or mixing it with watercolor before.
This video helped me to get through this artistic trauma. Thanks for making it!
This is a very thoughtful demo! I was doing a “I’m learning how to gouache” series on my channel but haven’t done anything in a month or so and, like you said, gouache isn’t the easiest medium (for me anyway) so I always feel like I need a good amount of energy built up to even tackle it.
You ALMOST made me feel ready to go for it again....almost.
wow ive never thought of using cardboard as a canvas, that's so interesting
I mostly use gouache and I love how thoughtful and precise this tutorial is, wonderful work!
I was scrolling down in my suggested and read the title. I scrolled passed it, but then scrolled back up because was dying to know how gouache was pronounced LOL. I learned something new today.
Tiv Thaiv I dID EXACTLY THE SAME THING OMG
I learn so much with this video! Thank you!!
i love how you added your first attempt of the painting! it shows that art is not only a matter of practise but trial and error! of course practise is extremely important but i'm sure you under stand what i'm meaning
What I like about you is that your skills and you actually showed us your messed painting, which gives me hope that first attempt is not that bad and it helps you learn more..and your painting was awesome
Always wait for your new upload 😊
You're honestly the first artist who doesn't jump the gun while voicing your clip of painting. Everything came up when you said it would, and I didn't have to rewind to try to figure out what you're referring to, like some artists I watch/follow. It was perfect, tbh. Thanks for that.
2:13 i smiled as soon as i saw your wooden korok figure. It's gorgeous!
just finished the video and the shading and colors you used for your painting are stunning!
THAT PAINTING OF VINNY IS GORGEOUS!!! and this is so so helpful! theres not too many videos showing tips and tricks for gouache painting so im really grateful you put this out!
Thanks a lot for your tutorials! Keep them going ❤ Graphic pencils are my comfort zone, but with your help I believe I will be able to get over my fear of watercolour and gouache paints ~~
Svetlana K the same case with me 😊
Watercolors and gouache are my two fav paints to use. It is so nice to learn more about them. This makes me want to paint something!
I clicked on this video out of pure curiosity because youtube suggested it to me, but if there is something I really did not expect to see at all was that AMAZING Vinny Vinesauce painting, what a surprise!!
Really good and informative video too!
AkumaNoRobin I'm so happy to see so many people from the vinesauce community showing up in the comments (and I recognize your name from the art segments). Lao painted that picture more or less on my request during an Instagram live stream a long time ago and he keeps pulling it out as one of his few gouache examples :)
Awwwww! The little animations are so cute!!! ♡♡♡
Your little avatar is adorable. Great video. ^^
Every once in awile I come to watch one of your videos for drawing tips and seeing your amazing artwork. And somehow I only realized now how relaxing and calming your voice is. Like am I the only one who thinks this? I can’t be right, your voice is amazing and it’s beautiful. Keep up the good work man.
I love Guache. The colors are so vivid and bright for making cartoon type paintings compared to acrylic.
You are such an inspiration for me
I love that you showed your mess up that’s something most artist do not do and I just can’t say how much I appreciate it. It shows young and learning artist like me that it’s okey to mess up.
OMG each time i watch you your videos I wanna cry. I'm soo scared to try and ruine my work. It's so amazing how you can make your art look like digit paintings with traditionnal medias..
You motivate me and at the same time it make me feel so unskilled T__T
I really envy you. If only my art teachers were so efficient as you..
Thanks for the tips in blending! I can't wait to try that out. I also appreciate letting us know about paying attention to what type of brush to use. I'll definitely take note of that one since I think that's why I'm having a bit of trouble with some of my paintings. Cheers!
Please do more gouache videos!!! There aren’t many here on youtube tysm for this!!!
This has nothing to do with the video but the little Korok dude at 2:13 is adorable. Also, great video thank you!
I’m like:
aw🥺
OHHH MY GOD I DIDN'T REALIZE YOU WERE ONE OF THE ARTISTS I LISTENED TO DO A PODCAST WITH ART SIDE OF LIKE!! I LOVED THAT PODCAST!!
Like, I srsly recognized your voice IMMEDIATELY
Beautiful work art. I personally fight a lot with watercolors, in fact I started a couple of years ago to watch your channel to learn more about it, and recently I received as a gift a gouache set and it was so much better! I feel like it was my natural art supply XD. Still love watercolors works, but not just mine XP
I took 2 years of painting and drawing in College, and never once was Guache mentioned. Thank you for such an informative video. I'd love to try this medium sometime!
This was insightful! and your character is adorable!!
Never thought about using gouache on cardboard. Love it!
I've recently buy gouache and sad to say I almost ruined my 1st painting with gouache and today youtube recommended me your video and your videos really helped me alot THANK YOU
For how short this video is it is so informative and helpful to beginners. I am so impressed thank you so much!
I really love your voice
Your watercolor tutorials really helped me especially in portraiture. So Im really thankful and excited about all of these other tutorials
Thank you so much! My dad just gave me some oil paints and gouache,( they were just lying around it was nuts) and I had never used either! I had heard of both, and had always wanted to try them, but never had the chance. This was super useful for me!
I love your painting style AND your little korok in the background 💜
Heute kam meine erste Guache-Palette und ich bin so hyped, deine Tipps auszuprobieren! Dankeschön!
I enjoyed your talking during the video. Could you do a basic portrait in watercolor where you explain step by step what you are doing and why. Thank you for a good lesson.
I've never heard of gouache before now. This video was relaxing, intriguing, and overall makes me want to invest in this medium. You have a rather relaxing and inviting voice by the way.
I swear your tutorials are so timely. I just got serious about improving with gouache and this comes out. It's been up for a week and I think I've watched it 10 times at least by now-- trying to figure out blending. I've never thought about using cardboard with gouache. I really need to try that instead of using up all my watercolor paper. :)
This is so good. Please continue making this kind of videos. I support you. You are an amazing person!💜
This tutorial came at such a good time!! I already learned watercolor and I'm in the process of learning oils... I've always been curious about this medium. Also is that Vinny Pizza Pasta at 2:37?
PUT IT IN A BOX
this is a fantastic tutorial. beautiful voicing and music. nice visuals. very informative.
Thank you so, so much! Gouache has been really tricky for me, and this helps a lot. :D
2:37 BINYOT ALERT I SEE A VINESAUCE VINNY
Thanks for this video!! Im a beginner and its good to know this if i start painting one day!
Thank you! Very educational for a new gouache artist like me! It was exactly what I was looking for.
Надо будет попробовать такую гуашь.
#fanalert #notificationsquad
Love your work laovaan
Keep up the good work 😀😁
Thanks for this amazing video. I’m a beginner so this helped a lot and I learned stuff I didn’t know about.
I've only just discovered you, but I absolutely love your channel! You have such wonderful art and are so easy to listen to! I can't wait to learn more from you and see more of your content! ^_^
I'm currently mixing the two. I usually only use watercolor but I decided to challenge myself and paint the northern lights, it's certainly a bigger challenge than I anticipated and I had to grab my gouche/japanese watercolor to fix the mistakes I made etc. I regret not using masking fluid this time, but it's still turning out good.
This was really helpful😊😊 also notification crew❤
Oh nice, I just started messing with this medium. Looking forward to more tutorials.
My little sister gave me some gouache paints and acrylic paints, i have never really painted so looking forward to trying it out
I have learned so much under a short amount of time 🤔
(Also, that painting...Hot damn 😍🔥)
Thanks so much for the tips!!! I was really confused with how to use this type of paint the right way.
Das Video ist immer noch sehr hilfreich, vielen Dank für diesen guten, leichtverständlichen Überblick!
i'm really jealous of your skills it seems like you can literally handle any medium there is even digital “paint”! i’m so impressed i could never
once i bought a very very very VERY cheap gouache from a dollar store and i remember having a wonderful time painting with it (before i started to use watercolors) they are very chalky but i love them, really.....
i really love the texture of gouache
You are my favorite artist
You make it look so simple, haha. Thanks for the tips!! 🎨💕
Your voice sounds so relaxing
I learned gouache from a professional artist for 3 hours then I was left to fend for myself. eventually my high school major work was 8 gouache portraits. seeing this video I realised how many techniques I've discovered the hard way. I find that I start with a thin layer, then almost exclusively use the overpaint technique.
This portrait looks so digital. I love it=) Thank you for the video=)
I use mostly watercolors, but sometimes I do use gouache or mix the techniques (for example to give solid lighter colors, highlights etc)
I was looking for watercolor tutorials but here I am. And just one look and I can see why some people I know said gouache are a bit hard to do
Guter Überblick über Gouache!
Looks like digital art!! Love it!!
Okay, your voice (and accent) is so gorgeous💕
Thanks for this video! It’s super helpful, I’ve been thinking of trying something other than watercolor...also, I LOVE YOUR VOICE! You have a very cute accent when you speak English!!!
Your voice is soothing.
Amazing video !
Gouache have been my main technique and you said everything that you need to know about it.
Good job and keep going! ❤
Огромное спасибо за субтитры! Слежу за тобой в инстаграм, ты хорошо развиваешься:)
I am not a watercolor artist. But I use it since I am a mixed medium artist.
Speaking of gouache, the first and MOST IMPORTANT THING WE SHOULD DO:
READ THE CONTENT OF THE MATERIAL.
Have I known I bought a rare kind of Gouache, I just bought it in a Japan Surplus store since I want to have some watercolors.
At first I didn't know it's a gouache. It took me months before I realized that I am using one.
And yes, we really need to read the content, otherwise it will ruin our artworks.
On the top of that, I underestimate it and the colors are too vibrant but still helps since I could manage to save the usage of my colored pencils.
;w;
Gosh your colors laovaaan you're amazing thanks for your tutorial!
Laovann is the best teacher
This helped alot! You would be a good art teacher!
Wowie, your vid just popped up when I opened RUclips, (probably cuz I’ve been looking up drawing tips aha) it’s so cool and your painting at the end is so pretty.
When I paint with gouache I tend to have a impressionistic brushstrokes. I love this medium but the hardest part for me is the drying time and that the color is liften up so easily.
Thank you soooo much for doing this tutorial! I'm so happy I've found it
Great work!
Most helpful gouache tutorial I've seen!! I love you, Laovaan! You're one of my biggest inspirations, and your tutorials have helped me improve so much in my art.
I've seen a lot of 'Gouache for Beginners' videos and this is by far the most helpful! Thank yo for making this video :D
I love gouache for the bright sock it to ya colours. I just go for, it but thank you a million for your lovely videoxxxxx from a great grandma that just loves playing about with paints. Big hug XX
