They are adjustable for toe, look at the knuckles and shock towers, gives you a ton of different holes for the fixed rod. Still the price is straight up bananas.
Yeah I did forget about that that you can make adjustments there but it seems like it'd be a lot of work just to do that it'd be better to have adjustable turnbuckles
i generally make fun of people who spend $600 for a ready to run jato and then spend another $600 to make it "race ready" when you can get something like a LOSI 8ight-XE RTR for $600 and race it out of the box...
That's actually pretty pricey, but I really like the power system it will come with. Is it just me or the wing off the sledge, I don't mind cause I do like the sledge wing. Thanks for the update, jaytee brother
Jay Tee this is hilarious! This buggy is a joke with plastic shock towers! It's the only 1/8th scale buggy in the world with plastic shock towers! LOL Plastic drive shafts too! OMG hilarious! Yes I race 1/8th scale RC8B4. LOL
I'll be curious to know even if you were able just to try one of the track your thoughts on it since you raised. I would like to know a racist point of view that way people will know if they could even take it on a local track and race nothing serious but just to get there and have some fun
@@JayTeeRC yes I’d be keen to try one and see how it handles. Problem is no tuning or adjustment and every track is different. Grip and bumps vary dramatically across different tracks so that’s where it will get left behind. The real 1:8 race buggies are on rails on almost any track because of they can be dialled in. That alone is a science let alone trying to drive well and win the race 😆
So right . Most people have no idea though . They’ll see this in a hobby shop without the market knowledge and help keep the economy going . I m always looking for a quality deal personally
To race I wouldn't get one. The LOSI seems like a much more race oriented buggy for the price. But I might get one for the house. 8th scale buggies always handle great and I really prefer the plastic drivetrain when driving on the street. Car would sound and drive normal until those drive shafts are a pretzel unlike the huge notches you usually get in outdrives.
"egineered for drivers" but with no adjustable links at over $500 is laughably dumb. I love traxxas but the stupid tax on this is HIGH. I might just price out the parts needed to make my custom colored kit version of it but they dont even have the pink parts id want. Like... Tf
I like its light weight. I like it except for the proprietary battery setup. I like it....but not the price. You can tell that it doesn't cost them even near the price to manufacture. Not even close. It's cheap and lightweight. They should charge what it's really worth. The Traxxas support and all that doesn't justify the prices. It just doesn't. Corporate greed to the extreme imo.
If I wanted a buggy... I'd be looking at Hobao, Kyosho or Mugen. This doesn't even compete with those. It doesn't share any similarities with the OG Jato. Its over priced. Its not a Nitro (Yes, some of us still run Nitros) It doesn't even compare to the original in speed. So why TF would we waste our money on this? (I won't) Good luck, @Traxxas. This ain't gunna cut it.💯🤦♂️👎
Well, this VXL also has a center diff, the BL-2S doesn't. This VXL has an aluminum center shaft, the BL-2S has a plastic center shaft. VXL is still the better vehicle.
How come nobody complains at the car dealership about how much plastic modern cars have? Or right to "repair"?? You've got to remove 50 plastic panels just to change alternator, starter, or car battery 😂
@@JayTeeRC I ordered a 6S, and I think they sent me the 8S, instead. It's 150 Amp. That's 8S, isn't it? Anyway, this thing's pretty effing fast, and I have only had it on 50%. Let me know if you want to borrow it to review it.
I will say that Traxxas is typically a step above their rtr competition in quality, but $529 for this? Nah, a 6s Typhon is a hundred bucks less, with actual 1/8 components. TC Spark would run circles around the JATO and has real steel drivetrain. The JATO is an overpriced entry level buggy at best. Sorry Charlie, this is a fail IMO.
If it wasn't for everyone else making more powerful 1/8 basher buggies for less and the actual 4s race buggies with adjustable suspension from other companies for around this price then this would be a decent option. Traxxas is gonna have to build an actual better option of something or offer a rig nobody else does before i buy one. If this was a 1/5 scale 8s 4x4 basher buggy I'd order 2 without a second thought. Nobody else offers that.
I feel like the brushed version is just an overpriced wltoys 124019 with better axels. And the upcoming brushless is just traxxas version of 124017. I know some traxxas people won't like that comparison but they gotta admit they're extremely similar. Family races 5x 124017's and one 124019 would love to get the upcoming brushless traxxas but if I'm spending over 500 anyway mind as well spend a bit more and go for something a lil bigger and possibly 6s+
Sooo the Jato ia a stadium truck , which they already had a 4x4 electric stadium truck called the rustler , both brushed and vxl , what are they thinking they are getting things so twisted for no reason, are they trying to keep with the times and identify as something there not Lol!!
Buggy will never make a 10 min e buggy main with 2500kv high gearing and no fans on esc or motor will be nuclear hot. Not sure what there thought is on setup
Jato stands for Jet Assisted Take Off. The owner felt like this car represented that. I agree, I wish they would have called it the 4x4 bandit. The reason this guy is "expensive" is not only the amount of upgrades, Traxxas has a LIFETIME warranty on their electronics and batteries. Majority other companies have 2 years at best. Also, Traxxas has customer service 7 days a week until 9pm!!
Lifetime warranty on electronics? Where'd you hear that? LOL. Try 30 days. This is easily the weakest example of a 4s buggy on the market. I like Traxxas, but your paying for the name, value is not there at all.
This looks cool, but this is a racing buggy, not a Jato. I still have my nitro Jato 3.3 from 2006. And this looks nothing like it. Kinda pricey too. Just give it a different name as a new item release traxxas. Why recycle the Jato name and put it on something that looks nothing like a Jato? 🤷🏻♂️ I love traxxas and have a bunch of their cars, nitro from back in the day, and electric from the past few years. But I’m getting stale on traxxas because they keep trying to reinvent the same cars. Arrma has been killing it lately and my RC collection now has a bunch of Arrma in it too. Still a great video. I’m just really disappointed in traxxas on this one.
VXL is gonna be a hit. 4S power and a center diff are my favorite combo. I know the Typhon 6S is $500 and this will be $540, but I prefer vehicles with telescoping driveshafts over dogbones all day. So I think I'd take the Jato 4S over the Typhon 6S for sure. The BL-2S though, doo doo. Offers nothing over the 3S Typhon but costs $20 more. In fact, gets it's butt kicked in every aspect for $20 more. Hard pass. Looking forward to see them in person!
@whatsintheboxx Traxxas been getting over for YEARS, some of their platforms even have an exposed servo to the elements, on the bottom of the chasis 🤦🏿♂️, "C'mon Man" in My Joe Biden voice!!!
Everyone‘s complaining about Traxxas prices. Let’s compare this to the TLR typhoon. This is rtr and the typhoon not. Even if you get 4S electronics and a cheap radio you easily hit 700 bucks or even more. So pricewise Traxxas ain’t cheap but way better than the competitors. Handling and drivewise we need to wait until the release. I just don’t get all those Traxxas haters. Let’s be honest horizon is the worst rc company ever. They are destroying every little rc shop out there with their stupid company policy’s
Traxxas is hit and miss, for this price point on the VXL, include adjustable turnbuckles!! I get it on the BL2S, but this is supposed to be a notch up model so it should at least get basic features to tune drivability. I've had to upgrade ALOT of parts on my Rustler VXL 2WD, yes it is fun to drive, but at what cost. Part of Traxxas strategy is not just the initial sale, its knowing people will have to, or want to upgrade parts. The Typhon looks pretty good stacked up against this as well.
I just got back into buggies with the TLR Typhon. I DO LIKE THE LOOKS OF THIS Traxxas BUGGY! I'm looking to get into some casual track racing this spring, and I was looking at buying a second buggy, a freaking Mugen LOL. Not anymore, this might be my first Traxxas purchase since the Nitro Rustler. My days trolling traxxas might just come to an end soon 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
It's not only about what "I" like, it's about choices, VXL perfect for adults, BLS for the kids, choice is a great thing about this hobby, its not always about speed, racing, and power, I bet 75% of sales are intended for Father & Child just having fun RC'ing together, if companies only sold to the youtube experts and enthusiasts, they would have been all out of business long ago.
That's not a jato, that's buggy
Team Corally instead!!!

Stop it, Traxxas. That is not a Jato! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

A little odd choice.
Yea
$529.00? You can literally get the TLR Typhon for only 100 bucks more and get a much better buggy with much more out of the box.
I agree and with TLR special Parts🔥
I was very disappointed with the TLR typhoon. But yes, the tlr is a good alternative to the upcoming jato VXL
I’ll wait for the sale. 529? lol no freaking way! But if this sells well a mini version I see in the future.
Trying to as well
I think they released the BL-2 version for people to buy for the kids for Christmas
Changeable bec 6 to 7 volts for servo.. it also has center diff and aluminum shocks and aluminum 17mm hex hubs aluminum brace
Great video, I think it's to expensive.

Great review bro but Traxxas has lost their mind with the price $399-$450 would have been perfect and they should have called it a XL BANDIT
