    This Oris is just gorgeous.

Cracking looking watch, and what is nice about it is the fact that they crafted a movement with a small seconds complication that actually fits the case size. The 7001 movements feel like they're made for 34mm watches, because on anything larger, the KS is located too close to the central axis of the minute and hour hands. This is a problem for many Patek Calatrava's even.
So good job, Oris, for designing this well. I love this thing. It's pricey, but still.
The Vulcain is superbly done, but at 1500 bucks it has stiff competition. My Squale 1521 needs to go because it's too big, but I'll replace it with a Super Squale so that can sit next to my Serica 5303, Baltic GMT and Yema Superman 39. All of those options give you a vintage looking dive watch of around 12,2mm thickness with superb styling for less money than the Vulcain.
So I get the Oris, but the Vulcain doesn't warrant the price. The blue brushed dial is sweet though.

I love that Oris went with a handwound movement. But the price is too steep for me.

The Oris is nice, but more $ than a Black Bay Pro, which is automatic and GMT? I think it will be a tough sell. I’d take a BB58 for less $ any day.

Re the Vulcain...love the 38mm size...still waiting for Oris to release non-limited editions of the Divers 65 in their 38mm case with the 733 movement. If/when, then take that over the Vulcain.

I own the blue Vulcain Nautique, and several Oris 65 (Glow, Momotaro). Lume on the Oris 65s is bad, so much that it bothers me. On the Vulcain the lume is very good, glows strong throughout the night.

Saw the Oris in person and it’s a beautiful watch. I guess the price is higher to cover R&D on the movement, and likely lower volume because most people will prefer an automatic?

    @hudldevice1092 Год назад +2

Great to see new hand-wound movements emerging - I do prefer them to automatics - but I'm rather bored of the 'small seconds' trend and wonder why Oris choose not to go with the coin-edge bezel and cathedral hands more associated with their Pointer Date watches. As others have said, though, despite it being a new movement, the price does seem somewhat optimistic, placing the watch in direct competition with the likes of Tudor - and I say this as a fan of Oris.

Firstly, Zach for president🇺🇸 2nd, love everything about the Oris. Boldr, great brand, I’m just still annoyed with no quick set date on GMT’s. Maybe just leave the date off and use your IPhone? That’s just me 😉

Thumbs up for “angularity”! Those who don’t like the price point on that Oris should check out their Cervo Volante pointer date, which is half the price and equally gorgeous.

I love the looks of the Oris. Although I really like their 40mm Big Crown Pointer Date models for my wrist, the 38 works well too. Any smaller and I would be out on that. The price definitely hurts, but I get that with the movement. I'm glad there is a power reserve, because I would not wind it every day with that PR and would end up forgetting to wind it in time without that. The Vulcain is cool, if a bit TOO vintage sized for me. I'm not sure they're justifying the price yet, but if you two say the finish is good, maybe it's worth it? It is reminiscent of that recent Oris Diver 65 x Fratello release, which was really gorgeous. I think both of those watches did the fauxtina perfectly. It sometimes looks too brown or yellow and just plain odd. They nailed it, just like Tudor did with the BB58. I think the Boldr is really cool and priced well. 44 is right on the edge of my max wearing size. Sometimes a big, angular chunky watch can be fun. I'd love to try one on before committing, but I like the aesthetics. That same design in 42mm would be a no brainer for me, even without trying it on. I've been curious about the Boldr, so thanks for taking a look at it.

  • @khronokraze

I really like the Oris. Sure, it's on the pricier side, but, I've always felt Oris was priced just a little tad over what they should be. Anyways, really like that pointer date design with that light blue dial.. and glad it's not another Tiffany Blue.. it's it's own thing. And, I have a thing for small seconds.. although won't see it as often as the front of the watch, I really like the fact the power reserve is on the back. Something about that in itself makes it feel higher end. And, the movement really looks pretty good through the display case back.
The Vulcaine is a nice one, too.
Boldr should consider scaling down their GMT about 3-4mm and proportionally in thickness and I think they'd sell more.

I value the manual wind of the Oris, that’s a cool move. I miss the signature coin edge bevel. I’ve got no problem with the small seconds sub dial, but the dial of the standard BCPD looks superior to my eye, it reinforces the symmetry.
The color of the Oris does nothing for me, but it’s Oris, that’s not going to be the only color. On a 2K Pointer Date that I can find easily for 1,200 bucks, I’m fine with the printed dial. For a watch upwards of 4K, I’m reminded it lacks dimension. I tend to criticize IWC offerings for similar value concerns, but this somehow looks less impressive than a Mark XVIII.
The Vulcain is cool, nice dimensions, I want to see them succeed, just like I want to see Airain, Nivada Grenchen, Lebois &Co along with other revivals succeed.
That third watch just look big and clunky to my eyes, but I’m prejudiced to favor watches in that 38-40mm range and even smaller for a dress watch.

Kinda tired of hearing about ‘faux patina’. It’s a myth (or rather : it’s how they made watches for the last several decades). Anybody with half a brain and 1 eye can observe and correlate certain watches from certain periods having the same colored lume (yes, radium and tritium), but different colored to previous/next decades, going back to the 60s. That Vulcan looks amazing, and probably historically correct.

Whoever is editing, Dont like the slowing the b-roll to a lower frame rate, rather than take steady B-Roll. Makes the second hand look too slow.
