Very disappointed that there is no education about the wiskey maker like in past years. I love the day two sample however would have appreciated more details. The review is very basic. Very disappointing. Will not order again.
Fully agreed. Videos have been a huge let down this year. Seems like these were all recorded in a rush on a single afternoon and he’s just working from predetermined tasting notes. Miss the narrative on the distilleries and other macro details.
We’re very sorry to hear that we didn’t match / improve our experience from last year for you. This year we tried to step a bit closer to the actual platform and make the videos more digestible. We understand that we lose a lot of crucial information that way and are taking notes for 2024. Hope you will give us another chance next year to show how customer opinion truly matter for us. Have a great holiday season and cheers 🥃
Exactly my thoughts. I originally joined Flaviar back when they used to do live Zoom tastings. Then those went away and the content grew more disappointing, to the point where I did not renew my membership this past year. I still bought the Advent calendar, but now this just seems to be a guy reading the flavor spiral. And now it seems my iPhone app no longer works and doesn’t even exist anymore…?
medicinal is a great descriptor . Whew! This one is hard to drink in my opinion. However I finally found something that let me sleep through the night without coughing so that's a plus!
I had Penderyn whisky when I was in Wales in late Sept - I think they told me it's the first (or only?) whisky distilled in Wales, so very unique. They have 3 different whisky's.
I am a Bourbon drinker so Day 2 Green - Penderyn Celt was "meh" to me. Very light lacked body, while pretty earthy and light, it evaporated off the tongue a little too quickly for me especially considering the low ABV. However I must say it represented a great option to show the variety of the Whiskey world. 5/10
Black Day 2 N: Sweet vanilla with hints of peach and apricot P: Angel food cake with whipped cream F: Vanilla wafers. Light tannins This is a dessert whiskey! So sweet and light. 8/10
Smooth smell Very strong alcohol flavor like a cheap whiskey that doesn’t allow you to save her. The other items that this is distilled with would not give this to my worst enemy 0/10
These are great notes. Having an opinion is super important with tasting. Make sure to write down your thoughts for every day so you can come back and re-live your experience 🥃🥃
Hanson Irish was not as sweet for me. The toasted oak on the finish kept it savory. It was a satisfying pour that might pair nicely with a pork loin and a pint of Guinness.
Day 2 Black: JJ Cory I absolutely picked up on the Cake on the nose, especially when going with rapid short sniffs, although my friend did not pick up on that at all. On the flavor, very strong dry/oak. At first, did not pick up on any of the leathery/tannins, but about midway through started getting them on the exhale after each taste. So far, two for two!
Aroma was very high alcohol, with peaches and apples and cherries, with undertones of wood. Taste was very light, not strong, and a clean finish. Definitely not American or Scotch, but doesn’t taste like a regular Irish.
JJ Corry: Amazing nose with a corn and sweet scent. But almost no taste on the tongue. A late burn with an acidic aftertaste. Almost like acid reflux after some heavy desert. Initial sip was okay but lacked any flavor on the sip. Couldn't pick up any of that dessert taste mentioned here.
Penderyn tastes like I smell the morning after a long night chatting around a campfire, but with a hint of marmalade. 3/10, points for vividness of the experience.
I find these videos disappointing. He’s not saying anything that’s not in the flavor profile. Nothing about the distillery or distiller. Why even make these if you’re not giving info other than the notes?
Hi there, thank you for your honest opinion. We're taking notes for next year to improve and be better for you guys. You deserve it! This year we wanted to try and go with a bit more easily digestible format and go straight to the point and give you guys a public platform to exchange your thoughts and opinions. Hope you will still be able to enjoy your advent. Happy holidays 🥃
Thanks for letting us know. We wanted to go a bit more public this year, but will take notes for 2024. We’re super glad you’re still enjoying it and can’t wait to see you back tomorrow 🥃
Sorry for this, the exclusive box - Elixirs of life does not feature videos this year. We’re working hard to bring videos to both EU and US markets in following year 🥃
@@Flaviar There was a guy who did this last year on a youtube site called Whisky Riffs. He identified the type of whisky correctly about 50% of the time but it was fun to follow his process and try to guess along with him. Very engaging.

It’s like he reads the book first then says the notes that he just read

Interesting opinion. We love your thinking. Keep the reviews coming in future days. Cheers! 🥃
Love the Irish. Next year think about making the spirits journal spiral bound so it lays flat.
This is very specific and amazing comment! Thank you for the idea, will definitely put in on the list for 2024 🥃
Excellent day 2. Did not get the dessert thoughts but a solid yes on the vanilla and sweet finish. The taste lingers. Great whiskey!
Thanks for the comment! Keep them coming, see you tomorrow on day #3 ❤️🥃

Truly amazing brand. We love them! Thank you for the comment and cheers! 🥃

The Hanson Irish Whiskey is a wonderful Irish biend. Had a friend sample it and you have a winner!
So glad to hear that. Keep your comments coming in the next days. See you on Day #3 🥃
Black Day 2

This is a dessert whiskey! So sweet and light.
8/10
Thank you for sharing, the goal is to get to that 10/10 😉
Time to get out the coffee and whipped cream!
Cheers to advent days 🥃
This irish has the perfect amount of burn. I would buy a bottle of this no question. Big improvement over day 1 imo.
Thanks for sharing! Make sure to write down those notes as well so you can track your thoughts through the whole advent. Cheers! 🥃

Hanson Irish whiskey. Well described in the video. My favorite of the two so far.
Amazing to hear that. Cannot wait to see what next days will bring. Make sure to let us know in the comments 🥃
I’ve had penderyn before, pretty good stuff. It’d be a nice intro into peat for someone that wasn’t into it
Wish these were live and a bit longer. Kind of a letdown.
Def not as smooth as yesterday’s tasting. We much preferred yesterday’s Rye whisky to this, though I generally like Irish whisky.
These are great notes. Having an opinion is super important with tasting.

Two for two and 22 to go! We're very happy you're enjoying your Advent experience 🥃

Hi, thank you for feedback. We're taking notes in order to improve in future
The Irish whiskey was nice. I like the one from yesterday better. It was smoother
Good comment, make sure to write down your notes so you can go back and compare your day to day experience.

The app last year with the videos for each day was super cool. This is a step back. Still fun though.

Sorry, I had the other box, Penderyn is my favorite whiskey!
Amazing to hear that! Glad we managed to put it in the box this year 🥃
Irish Dessert Notes - a great whisky from J.J. Cory!
Agree 100% 🥃🥃
So far day 1 is my favorite.
Thanks for sharing, there still are 22 more to go 😉🥃
The vanilla and rum style flavor stands out well. It goes down nice and warm, great for the winter. We gave it a 9/10.
Great comments, we’re super glad that you liked this sample! See you back tomorrow 🥃
I have the Elixir of Life box, i was so confused while watching the video

Day 2 Irish whiskey by Hanson was great. I love Irish whiskey
We’re glad to hear this. Thanks for sharing 🥃
Great stuff...I swear I could smell oats on the nose.
There’s a possibility for that, good nose! We’re glad you enjoyed it. See you back on day #3 🥃
Really wish you would do a blind tasting and try to guess. So much more fun.
We haven't thought about this, but sounds like an amazing format. Adding this to the list of ideas for 2024, thank you for sharing 🥃

Love my Advent Calendars but would love for Flaviar to expand the idea of spirits beyond whiskey. Please add gin, rum, brandy, etc ...
Taking notes 📝 We’re trying to improve each year so stay tuned, something beyond whiskey is coming very soon.
Cheers 🥃
