David, you should consider backlighting the bottles on the shelf behind you , it's very dark and we can't easily see the bottles.
Jaime says the same thing, but I want you all looking at my beautiful face, not the bottles LOL. Let me see what it looks like.
I just went to Glenns Creek distillery in September and got 2 bottles of OCD #5. One is about gone already. Excellent stuff, IMO.
Nice, glad you like it
I think this video has been made a dozen times a dozen different ways by every single whiskey tuber
100%! Not only that, but I try to do it a couple times a year as my tastes change, I finish bottles, etc. Hope you like them though!
Hi David just an observation please illuminate the bottles behind you. They look so good. Would definitely be a plus great show as always.
Westward Single barrels have become one of my favorite pours. I saw SLB had the Westward Special Edition 2 and peeked my interest. I know that 250 for a 97 proof bottle seems a little high, but since I cannot get a Russell's 15 year, I might as well get this bottle. I had confirmation today that it's ready to ship along with my Cask strength bottle. I would love to get one of your Nashville Barrel store pick. Please, hook a poor man up with a bottle or two. I have to make it worth the shipping charges.
Great video. The thing with the lights that some people are suggesting 👍
Love those NBC picks🥃
Yeah, they can be stellar. All are good, but sometimes some of them can get expensive.
I love Buffalo Trace (and generally store picks are better than "generic" BT). Howver, over past 5 years I have never seen it at lower tan about $31 (in Paducah, KY). I can get it in Augusta, GA for about $33-34, but just over the border in SC it is closer to $40 and in upstate NY State, it is almost impossible to find at under about $45. closer to $50-55 near NYC
SLB's review of the milestone crashed the website multiple times the other day. Looking forward to getting it in the mail soon!
Well I'm a sipper not a flipper so I just drink whatever sounds good on that day but I tend to reach for hard truth cask strength, old Forester sbbp,, wilderness Trail family reserve, or big nose Kate, or middle west dark pumpernickel rye cheers🥃🥃😃
The Westward stuff is unique I am a scotch drinker and I was impressed How about a barrel pick
That is a good thought... I'll have to consider that recommendation!
My local store has 6 cases of Buffalo trace that dropped Saturday and is just sitting there. Again BT is so overrated for what it is. I’d take a WT 101 or an Evan Williams bib every day over standard BT. And though I’m an Eagle rare fan these other two bottles still have more flavor than it does. Now NBC are fantastic choices. Nice video SLB gave that Westward a top 5 all time best whiskey earlier today. Again you have to appreciate single malts to truly appreciate this juice.
WOW, I can't get on board with EWBIB. WT 101 is great, but I'd still take the BT. Just my opinion thought!
@@WhiskeyRow your palate and that’s what makes the world go round!!
BT store picks are where it's at. ER picks, especially. The normal non-pick grocery store BT is more for Old Fashioneds with a single dash of Orange, Cherry or Angostura bitters.
When you say around 100 for the NBC, I assume 129.99? I don't think I have seen any 8yrs for less than that. Love their stuff, but I typically only buy their 5-6yr bottles since I am on a budget
Our 7 year in the spring was $104.99. I'm expecting it to be more like $110-$115 this time, but I sure hope it doesn't come in at $129!!!
Totally agree about 13th Colony. Their offerings below the double oaked are the best. Folks praise the Rye, but their straight bourbon and sour mash (discontinued) are kiiller. Bought case of bourbon andd gifted most of them. Everyone loves it as well.
That is awesome, glad we aligned on that one!
Westward Milestone taste like the Cake from Whiskey Cake Restaurant!
HAHA, true
Just picked up a new E.H. Taylor single barrel this afternoon. Needless to say, that is what I am drinking right now.
I love those, always a good pour
I’m sipping on the cafe’ ole tonight, it’s incredible so perfectly made
Yeah, if anyone likes coffee flavored anything, cafe ole is their jam!
i put an oak stave in a bottle of Buffalo Trace about 13 days ago. Tasted after 4 days and after 9 days and it's already quite a bit better. going to let it go at least another 2 weeks
Nice experiment!
I have the 3 cheapest bottles and all are great pours, would love the other two but I'm being very picky on the higher priced bottles now. Would like a general opinion from David and the row crew though, I got offered a Stagg 24A that will be in tmrw for $170 + tax. I don't own any other Staggs at this time. Is it possibly worth it? Thanks ahead of time.
Good question and you have every right to be hesitant on spendy bottles... they are usually only moderately worth it. I really like the Stagg 24a and it beat the Stagg 23a for me, but lost for Jaime. I would for $170 as I bought mine for $200 plus had to buy any bottle around $40. Not sure I'd recommend it though... tough to say
@@WhiskeyRow I get all that. And I may well buy it just so I can have a Stagg in my collection and they are very rare around here. Appreciate the opinion.
Great line up of bottles!!
Thank you, may not be traditional favorites, but I'm loving them!
I still have never had buffalo trace. have never seen it in a liquor store.
I might have to order a bottle (if I can get a coupon code to avoid doubling the price with shipping)
That stinks, where are you from?
Not uncommon problem, tough (but not impossible) to find in north new Jersey
Not to be overly critical or pedantic, but... with that Westward, can you really call something a "Go To" if you've only just tried it for the first time??? 🤔
Fair point! I guess my response would be it is interesting, nuanced, and I like it a lot and have and will want to drink it for while. Probably won't finish the bottle this time around. I switch up what is interesting so quickly, like every couple months, which is why I do these every season. I guess the rapid change is the staggering amount I end up trying.
i think you can move something to your "go-to" list after one glass. just because it wasn't a go-to yesterday, doesn't mean it's not now.
@m444ss I don't completely disagree, but I'd have to be pretty blown away by a whiskey to say it is a "Go To" at $250+ a bottle after just one or two drinks. I don't doubt it's interesting, but "Go To"... color me skeptical.
First!!!
Congrats!
