In the first part of this video, the same thing almost happened to me. It's very important to have the right lawyer in your defense; one who takes your case serious and has your best interest in mind. Do not get one who is just looking to collect a paycheck. Had to fire my lawyer and get a new one who was competent in such matters. It's really scary, knowing that you can go to jail for something that you didn't do.

Many states don't offer compensation for wrongful convictions... as long as the prosecution or conviction was done in "good faith" and not a malicious or intentional wrongful conviction, they wont compensate you. They actually have state laws preventing compensation for "good faith wrongful convictions"...So there is a good chance that he won't get anything, depending on where he lives...

My grown son who has never been in any kind of trouble had police show up twice to arrest him because he had the same name with someone who had an arrest warrant for unpaid child support. My son looks nothing like this man plus my son doesn't have any children. The police also went to his apartment complex and the manager said that my son was not the person they were looking for. Even when they put the photos side by side and there was absolutely no resemblance they didn't want to believe he wasn't the person they were looking for. My son has a much lighter complexion and has a shaved head. The person they were looking for is a very dark complexion and long dreadlocks. I also had to speak to the police and they finally left my son alone. I hope it's over with now. Scary!

I guess he is approved an extra free attorney? As opposed to a rich person that can hire a big team?

So what are they going to do to the court! Nothing but this guy lost half his life! I heard a ATF officer after finding out the truth on someone say well what they would just spent maybe a year and if they weren’t guilty that they wouldn’t have taken a plea! Well yes they would if they didn’t want to go to prison or take a chance on 12 people that believes everything if a law enforcement official says so.

I was doing some research on this case. The defense attorney pointed out that it was the wrong Sheldon Thomas. The witness photo ID the other Sheldon Thomas not this one. And he was picked up by mistake because they have the same names, not because he was ID by Witness.
The defense attorney thinking this will clear his defendant's name was instead shocked by the judges response....
"They look similar enough I'll allow it to stand" What, what!?
So you're telling me the witness photo ID a different Sheldon Thomas in which my client Sheldon Thomas was picked up by mistake solely for having the same name. But since YOU think they kind of look a like you're going to proceed in Prosecuting the wrong man!? Crazy just crazy

So what will they do for this guy who lost 18 years of his life. He should be given a hefty sum and set up for life. At least he could have time to get his head together after all he's been through.

Omg. This man lost his best years. WHO pays for this? I pray for the others that are innocent, yet in prison.
My thoughts are with them, and this man.
