That is so heartbreaking. I’m so sorry sir- missed so many years and milestones in his life because of this. I hope you sue the lifeee out of that justice system (detective, judge, jury, police, detectives, etc.). Set yourself up for somewhat of a content life out of prison.
Sue the city, the judge, the detectives involved for lying, and the jury who knew it was a wrongful conviction. To forgive doesn't mean they face no consequences. He needs to get what's his. Millions. Also press charges so they can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Such an amazing individual to be able to forgive for all those lost years of physical imprisonment but his mind was free. Wishing the best for him, hoping he can heal and get the support that will guide, nurture and direct him in the what is his new life.
They should be because they all lied in a "court of law" and that should be held accountable as well as many other offenses made but we all know that will not be the case unless a protest, letters, keeping it in the media or whatever until justice is served. It just won't! He is not the first, nor last because there are many more in prison that were wrongly convicted!
This Gentleman should get 1 million dollars a year for every year spent incarcerated tax free. The ones that framed him should get the same amount of time this Gentleman suffered without parole.
He is such a calm and collected man with an awesome personality. Such a wonderful soul.I truly hope that he will be able to get some type of financial help and hopefully with his lawyer's help justice
Money will not replaced what he lost but it will do two things. First, it will help him get a start on the life he should have had. Second, it will send a message to others that when you commit an injustice, you will pay. No it’s not perfect, but he deserves that at least.
I feel the same way as the reporter his story is very inspiring and I didn’t know what I had encountered until I heard her say those words the most inspiring person I ever met in my life yes he is.
hes free but whats the compensation ? thats 18yrs X 20-50K per year in lost earnings based on his potential earnings/education. if he was never arrested. does he get to file a civil lawsuit against the police or prosecutors ?
Great mam ! So oppressed..." Today, Johnson was arrested after police found a severed head and limbless torso in his apartment. The victim's neighbours reported hearing "Please don’t. I have a family!" before hearing two gunshots. The police found the victims decapitated head in Johnson's freezer and the limbless torso in a blue bin in his apartment.".
Aww man, I'm glad he's out. This is crazy they shouldn't get away with this just so. My guy is gonna need therapy, and all the help he can get to move back through society after all the damage they've done. I'm most happy he didn't lose faith in the most high even when he was wrongly criminalised
it looks like he will do well. the big challenge will be transitioning back into regular life. that will take longer and more work, just like getting injured and needing physical therapy there needs to be a daily program and schedule. helping his mom is a good start, reading books, taking care of pets, working part or full time, getting an online degree etc.
I can’t believe with all the technology we have in this country he spent that much time in jail, I understand if you live in third world country can happen but, here in USA? That is ridiculous, I hope he gets compensated for all this time and put in jail those who wrongfully convicted him. This makes me sick.
Speechless, except for the part where they laugh when the inmate says I’m innocent.. A lot of folks ain’t gonna let that sink in. Only the people that are one with themselves will understand what I’m saying 💯
"It's the people", keys words. A lot of times we blame "the system", as if the system is "people-less" We need to hold the people accountable, from the judge, to the prosecutor, to the police. Only then will we have a just system.
Its crazy to see this still happening. It should absolutely be mandatory to pay anyone wrongfully convicted. And they need to supply them with everything they need for life, (i.e. insurance, a 401k, a place to live immediately).
Congratulations on your release and welcome home. Unfortunately the people who need to be behind bars are the ones who put you there. From the police officers to the DA and then the Judge who learned the officer pergured himself. You now have the right to be heard, may your words possibly help the next person who is being mistreated by the system. Get a good attorney for counseling before you do anymore interviews . Much respect to you and your family, God Bless
I hope someone brings Sheldon into their fold and give him the psychological help and employment and on-going support. The crooked detective should be whipped and made to support Sheldon.
The story is so sad. He will overcome this it will take time. But I hope that he seek therapy as well. He needs to speak to someone professional. The state of New York should grant him money for all the years that he lost. This is their mistake not his.
Sheldon Thomas I pray you heal and stay safe. Pray for the ones left behind that they also be free. Hopefully you can go through therapy or Spiritual counseling which will be best. I know there will be people who will help you. Don't stop expressing love. You will prevail again!
He is amazing his courage his insight of his situation I think I learned from him I’m speechless that that happened to him how do you give someone back 20 years of their life. I pray for the innocent that they be set free in Jesus name
How can this happen? Some police, DA, judges should be held accountable. Hope the judge gets what's coming for him. So many dirty people were involved in this conviction
How many good people in jail in vans if you look more you will see millions and millions of innocent people in jail because the criminals are outside now thanks to service key law
These pale skin ppl don't care about blk ppl no matter if we're trying to do right or not. The system failed this young man, and I hope he draws more closer to The Most High to get him through this traumatic experience. I hope he sues them!!!
People need to be held accountable 100 💯 he needs to be paid

Exactly !
I think he wants peace and is seek of court.

I hope NETFLIX MAKES A DOCUMENTARY AND PAY HIM A FAIR SHARE AND EXPOSE ALL THOSE BEHIND THIS.
I pray that everyone involved in this injustice reaps what they sowed. He’s reaping the reward of innocence and forgiveness and will continue to heal.
Oh they will reap.
I hope NETFLIX MAKES A DOCUMENTARY AND PAY HIM A FAIR SHARE AND EXPOSE ALL THOSE BEHIND THIS.
They WILL!!! Make NO Mistake about it!!! 🔥⚔️🗡

I agree judge jury prosecutors needs to be sued

I wouldn't forgive any of them but on other hand I wouldn't seek vengeance either
I hope NETFLIX MAKES A DOCUMENTARY AND PAY HIM A FAIR SHARE AND EXPOSE ALL THOSE BEHIND THIS.
Why do they ALWAYS want US to Forgive?!!! They don't...and guess what??? GOD DOESN'T FORGIVE THEM EITHER!!!!!🗡🔥⚔️🔥🗡

YES, they will...by The ONE Just JUDGE!!!
Why don't we ever see all those involved in these instances ever tried and thrown in jail afterwards?? The detectives, judges, lawyers, etc... ...
Because that never happens

True when the system starts holding them accountable this will definitely stop. So sad smh

They just waste his life for 19 years my heart break for him
The kind of crushing pain he went through is transformative. He is a wise Sage now. God has great plans for this guy
He's right it's the people in the system they need the right people in that system
This is a good man that didn’t deserve what happened to him.. glad he’s free and hope and he can cash in on what he’s lost all these years
The fact that the detective committed a crime & the reporters dont address it or mention his name should be telling
THEY NEED TO PAY THIS MAN MILLIONS NOWWWW FOR RUINING HIS LIFE..
whats money when you have lost 20 years
And they themselves need to go through the same due process they gave him and lose as many years as they made him lose...

In fear of being accused of a crime I didn't commit this would make me afraid to leave my house. 😒
I have always said one of the worst things that can happen, dont lie on me it could change your life for the worst.
He needs to be compensated monetarily. Intelligent man. I hope he gets counseling. God bless the attorneys that got him exonerated.

Wrong guy, fool
Sheldon appears to be very bright and perhaps he should get some computer training and write a book on his experiences.
Worst part NYC will NOT prosecute cops for these type of cases.
Makes me think of Kalief Browder… hope he gets the necessary help and support he needs to continue his journey!
And yes clearly a brilliant man with a very bright and clear-thinking mind. Bravo young man!
We want to know what's going to happen to those officers?
This is when you have a system that works against you in every aspect of life.

That witness needs to be sued too! You took that man’s life!

Everyone with the cops who arrested this man should have served the same amount of time in prison.
Sue them all.
Wow. Peace be upon you son.
The trauma!
Now you have two victims and no justice served those crooked cops need to be held accountable
I believe they should get one million for every year tax free and never have to pay taxes on anything ever again.
God bless him!!!! The same kind of cases happened here in Racine, Wisconsin in the early 2000's. We are praying for help..
This is so sad those cops should do 18 years, and he needs to sue.
