Congrats, @macre8389! You won my random raffle for a free INDIKA key! If you'd like to claim it, please email a screenshot of your RUclips profile to "megathemicro@gmail.com" and I'll send you the key :)
If nothing else, it's a fascinating experience! If you feel like waiting a bit, I'll be picking a random commenter to get a free key in the next few days :)
I'd not heard of the game until I saw a preview of it....I knew straight away I needed to play it, as it looked a bit different from the vast amount of games out there. It was downloaded on Playstation store for a bargain £19.99, and I must say, it's not disappointing me one bit, it's keeping me thoroughly engaged...love i, love it 👍🏼👍🏼
The only review channel I am subscribed to! Your reviews are always insightful and funny! Never heard of this game before this and now it's added to my ever-growing steam wishlist - cheers!
Thank you so much, Steven! Really appreciate your support. I'll be picking a random commenter to get a free key in the next few days, so maybe hold off on buying it for a bit :)
Thank you! Indeed, it's always hard reviewing art house games because they're so darn subjective. Ultimately, I think INDIKA does a good job of realizing its strange vision without alienating players.
I want to thank you for your clear review, which made me convinced to buy the game. Well done! I look forward to your next review and I'm subscribing! ☺
First off, nothing is "clear" in INDIKA. Your hypothesis is certainly the most obvious interpretation, but there are many more. For example, the 8-bit themes are featured during INDIKA's pixel childhood sequences. It's possible that in the clip I showed, for example, riding the bike reminded her of her childhood growing up in the bike shop and doing the same. While it's an interesting stylistic choice, however, I didn't personally enjoy it.
Me too, but It's rare to find a non-combat, story-driven adventure game with facial capture that lasts much longer than INDIKA. So much more development effort goes into each moment of animation.
I definitely enjoyed the demo for Indika during Next Fest. I was surprised it held up on my Steam Deck, but I'm happy to hear the developer is going to focus on Steam Deck playability for one of the updates. I have heard that this game abruptly ends. What are your thoughts on the ending? Did you feel satisfied with it?
The game ran pretty well for me with only occasional frame stuttering during the high-res cutscenes. As for the ending, I really enjoyed it. It's a fascinating combination of depressing, uplifting, absurd, and lucid. It is a little sudden, I suppose, but not jarringly so.
this game is not as weird as the void another obscure art house game and indika music is a very weird choice but its probably better then something turbo generic
I'm a wimp when it comes to horror and I handled INDIKA just fine. There are some scary moments but I don't remember any jump scares. The true horror comes from the game's oppressive, dread-inducing atmosphere, not to mention its pervasive strangeness-you truly never know what will happen next, and it keeps you on edge.
Very predictable story and concept here. It all boils down to a nun questioning and then abandoning her Christian faith. There's a pile of media pushing similar views on religion and you can see the ending coming a mile away. And that's not even going into the terrible gameplay.
Oh boy... Christ have mercy for another blasphemous work of art. It's not as if "what if we made something *critiquing* religion" is a tired format or anything.
Such an interesting and good looking game!

Great evaluation, couldn't have been the easiest to gage with the artistic side of the game being a big factor.

Thank you, Alice, and welcome to the channel! I'm glad you enjoyed the review, and I hope you have a great time with INDIKA :D
it's clear that the music is deliberately made dissonant, because it sounds in the mind of Indika herself and reflects her inner turmoil

I wish the game was longer. I finished it in 5 hours

I was really digging it right up until the 8-bit music choice for the non 8-bit portions of the game. Way to undercut the vibe
Yep-it's an intentionally bizarre choice that did more to take me out of the moment than keep me in it.
@@clementine2001 I don't understand your complaint, but I'm sorry you didn't like the review!
Brain bending
I'm still recovering 😵

I just watched some gameplay footage. You're right-weird is an understatement.
A24 making games now
How scary is the game? I don't like jump scares. I'm fine with psychological horror.
I would also like to know the same thing, I'm fine with psychological horror but hate jumpscares.
