- SCHiM is a cute little 3D platformer about a shadow blob frog thingy that can traverse the world by hopping from shadow puddle to shadow puddle. Alas, that's about all there is to it.

Thanks for the review, I was excited waiting for the game to release and was waiting for reviews to come out because the price seemed a bit too high for me. It seems like playing the demo will be enough to have the experience.

Finally getting around to watching this. I also thought it was pretty repetitive. That price is the breaking point though. I don't think there's room for a 'decent' $25 indie game in a world where $10 or $15 can get you an excellent indie game. Also, the checkpoints are actually visible, it's just hard t see. They're the shadows with the little dotted line outline. I didn't figure it out until I was like halfway through the game.
Wow... now that you pointed that out, I'm amazed I missed it. One of those subtle things you suddenly can't unsee, like the arrow in FedEx's logo. Time to check out your review :)
Nice review! I haven't played the game yet, but your criticisms about it sum up my fears after following the game for a while. I'll still definitely get it when I can, as the art style alone is probably enough to make it worth playing for me. Maybe if I find it on sale.

i loved the trailer but was incredibly bored and disappointed when playing the nextfest demo :( footage here looks like a big aimless struggle, like you're carrying something really heavy from point A to B while having no idea where B is.
Well put. I, too, was super pumped to give SCHiM a try after watching the delightful trailers. But, as noted in the review, the gameplay novelty wears out within the first hour or so :/
I feel really conflicted trying to understand your review on the game while looking at the gameplay. I feel like all things, it could boil down to personal preference as well! I might have to try the game to fully understand your low rating. But I hope the game lives up to its hype hehe 😬
