- In this video, I paint up the Super Clod Buster body, apply the decals and take it for a blast in the garden.
Great low-cost £9.85 each 25KG waterproof servo that I use in my RC cars.

The shade of blue looks fantastic, really suits it. Great build Gavin
Did mine in the recommended colors Tamiya Mica Blue and Gunmetal but I like the all-blue. I skipped all the decals except for Color Works on the lower rear quarters and 4x4x4 on the tailgate. I'd wanted the original Clod for years so hand-cut the decals so it just says Clodbuster. Very happy with the result.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, jumps😁🙏. Thank you! Extend the shelving into the Sherwood Forest there to your left. Take down a few of those trees, build that track, hire more staff..... Great work on the channel as a whole!
Well done on the body. Looks really nice in the blue. Going to do mine exactly the same. Etch primer unfortunately only works on metal because of the phosphoric acid in it.
Excellent job Gav,will be ordering my Clod Buster or Clog Buster at the end of the month.
Seriously good looking beast. One of the cars that gives me green eyes
Make space on the wall! Right in the middle!
It would stick out 2ft into the room lol
I love how you plowed through the flowers at one point LOL
The clod steering isn’t the most precise in stock form lol.
@@RCKickschannelYou are gonna be in trouble with Rebecca ;)
Turned out amazing! Love the blue.
LOVE that blue!!
Clodbusted’s RUclips channel has tons of info on this truck. And he knows the people who make the custom chassis like the metal one you showed in your video.
That's looking pretty cool 👍
Cool run. And it looks great.👍
Rit dye it works out nice for things like that. Been using since I was about 11 in 86.
Awesome! Perfect truck for the summer!💪🏼💪🏼✊🏼😎
Perfect detail scale and collour tone..tx..enjoyed it
AWESOME! Very well done!
Looks great
Love the shade of blue especially when outside in daylight :)
So much better with your oil-filled shocks your truck looks awesome I have one as well and I enjoy it very much.
I switched my Super Clodbuster's chassis the Jconcepts Regulator kit. I like the servo placement it is unique and out of sight.
I will try painting the grill like yours because it turned out very nice and toned down the chrome a bit.
Brilliant !!
I used ech primer on my Clodbuster 5 years ago and it was all good still untill I had a bad fall with it.. love these trucks and would love another one for myself but this time I will just keep it stock
I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!!!!
Truck looks great. Good job!
Glad you like it!
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
JConcepts makes a beautiful carbon chassis for this.
Tamiya is the missing link between hobby grade RC and plastic models I love them I wish I could build all the kits
Yeah, always said most ppl make RC cars but Tamiya make RC models❤
Awesome 👍
That was actually really enjoyable video!! Also glad you chose better music!! Really well done! Subscribed!!
Looks awesome 👍🏻
Great Video! Really enjoyed it and the more I watch the more I want one!
Looks Nice 😎👍🏻
The Blue Looks Cool I had a 1994 Ford F250 body for my old home made Monster Truck in 1996 but my monster had a lunch box 2 speed setup but I had 92x82mm tiers 8.4volt battery but it was able to yous a 12Volt
The clod is an awesome classic rc!! My original clod which is the Chrome Edition has gone through some changes (and parts) but it still runs. That blue you chose for your clod is awesome and the clear coat really made it outstanding. I'm surprised you actually ran it and jumped it.
The RC equivalent of a big, goofy St Bernard running towards you 😄
Hi mate, I can highly recommend Upol clear high pressure cans, they also do black (satin, gloss, matt), white and silver but the clear lacquer is a game changer, heat is a must and will vastly reduce the amount of orange peal.
You've done a really nice job on that body Gavin,it looks far nicer than the box art.
Damn I want a wall of RC cars like that 🤩
I’ve recently built a super clodbuster but with a custom clodzilla aluminium chassis. It’s a damn beast, especially in the forest. 👍🏼
You got me hooked on the Clod. Now i have three ongoing Clodbuster projects! Will revisit my Juggernaut as well.
just finished watching the video and I would really suggest building another starting with a set of gear casses and metal axel tubes.. there will be nothing left of the clod once you get going.. I will be building another myself and thats how I am going to do it
Gavin, you'll have to get a Juggernaut to go with the Clodbuster!
Awesome video! I'm about to buy the Super clod Buster Black edition! Looking forward to building it right from the get go with dual steering servo's!
A stock Clod with a on axle steering upgrade is already a massive step forward and you can even stop at that and enjoy driving the Clod.
Nice work. To leave a gab on the side decals was the right decision. Carefully cut the front decals with a sharp knife, at the corner of the cabin. Then aline the rear ones at the corner, don't go into the gab. Or you get problems with the decal at the back. If you want to fill the gab with black trimline. I recommend the chassis conversion kit from Jconcepts and the servo conversion kit (one for front steering or two for four wheel steering - third channel and a mixer should be kn the radio system).
LOVE the Jeremy Clarkson type of Intro! Clever.
I am definitely getting another Clod!! My nightmare is finally coming to an END, and I'm going shopping, like a Teenage Girl in a Shoe Store during a Sale!!! 😜
You did a great job of doing the Body. Looks GREAT! 😎
Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Great job on the Clod Buster, Gav! looks awesome in that metallic blue - love a bit of metallic paint, me! Yeah, I have used etch primer on Tamiya hard bodies before - no problems! Great bit of jumping at the end - nice one mate! :))
Thanks Mark, I’ll give it a go next hard body.
Etch primer does work on Tamiya abs bodies, I just finished up my 1851 Actros and used etch primer and if you have a Boyse store neer you they sell etch primer in the motoring section.
Cool thanks for the info Neil 👍🏻
No problems, enjoying the videos 😁
Mind the Flower bed
the clog buster, new model!
😂
:D :D :D The (old) Top Gear / Jeremy Clarkson-Style intro is hilarious. Thanks for that. Also great video.
It's designed in the bigfoot era so blue looks perfect on this truck
Decals wise... I split the decals and blacked out the gap... I box art painted mine wayyyyyy back on the first release of the super clodbuster..
Intro reminded me of the grand tour with Jeremy Clarkson. Subscribed😁
Mate that is HUGE!!!!! and it looks fantastic great job
So unbelievable the pricing for things like this right now
I discovered the Tamiya Zahhak earlier, get one
Floor queen
If a "Truck" is a "Car"......does that mean that a "Motorcycle" is a "Bicycle?"
So cool I love the clod buster
You need to upgrade the motors the standard tamiya ones suck
I just built a black edition and am thinking about just adding the stripe on the sides. For the chassis I’m interested in the older sassy chassis or the new j concepts
I would like a J concept but it gets really expensive with import and handling fees from the US to UK.
Thanks so much for this upload. So I picked up a Clodbuster at an estate sale this weekend. I would like to upgrade the bearings in the transmission and make a few other modifications, but before I do that, I want to be sure I have a clodbuster and not a super clodbuster. I have tried to do some digging online, but I am not clear on the differences. How do I tell the difference between the models?
Why do your intros remind me of Top Gear?
(the older, better version of top gear)
Totally now we just need the music.
i agree lol.
have you got a tto1 chassis ? if so could you see if the clod body would fit on it please i think it would look cool as a drift truck if that fails could you check to see if the lunchbox body would fit on the tt01 chassis please
Yeah! They couldn't order me the Black edition! It wasn't available! So I got the Blue one on the box!
Hello again can i make a suggestion i know it’s probably not what anyone wants but why not just drill some holes or dremel out the part that the steering gets stuck on that would give you more travel as well
The real issue is one servo in the middle of the truck is just too far away from the axels and in the linkage, you find way too much slop.
The automotive paint really pops, did it take a lot longer to dry than the Tamiya paint? When I’ve used other types of paints it usually does . Like the fact that you plan on using instead of shelving it. Great video Gavin keep up the good work.
Yes the car paint takes much longer to fully harden.
I love the calmness in which you explain everything. One question though, how do you remove the sticky molding stuff off those tyres? I can’t clean it completely and seems to come back after washing with dishwasher soap. Any tips and tricks regarding this? Appreciate it. Regards.
I didn’t have any issues with mild release on my tyres. Try some car rubber / plastic trim and tyre cleaner.
Did you have any luck? My rerelease Bull Head tyres have the same problem.
Did it come with a mechanical ESC or the modern one?
hello I have a clodbuster but the control futaba no longer works, can you recommend a current one.
When rdy with all mods can you pls make a video that summs up all mods?! Would be nice! ps: the color of the body is very nice
Yep sure 👍🏻
FYI: That model truck never came in a shade of that blue from the factory. It did come in a dark navy though
hey what chassis did you end up with and what esc did you use again!? I got the original clod buster can't seem to find a esc for it thank you! look forward for more clod videos!
I used a traxxas blue xl-5 (2s lipo with stock motors), works great and waterproof. @ $30 on ebay.
I’m thinking to get one of these kits for a fun summer build and I honestly want it for the same reasons of just driving around the backyard at a manageable speed for fun. And the dogs would love to chase it lol. Great video thanks again. Quick question, you do paint this from the outside, does this body use lexan paint or any paint works?
It’s a hard body so you paint on the outside just like a normal car. You can use car paint and clear coat.
just got myself a clod, got any tips?
I really would like to try the PS-31 smoke technique on a chrome grill, did it hold well? I' concerned it may flake off.
I didn't have any issues but you could. I would add a key to the chrome with some ultra fine sandpaper grit. Just a little bit to help the paint bite and hold better.
Ps31 to the grill?
Lol, heard you wrong in the intro, thought you said "Clog Buster." Was trying to figure out what you had against the Dutch...
he really said Clog Buster :)
@@aviano72 It's the Dutch release :D
Hi Gavin would you make a video abt the Tamiya CC01
If I ever get one in sure.
Hey Gavin when putting the decals on is there any trick to it? Mines ends up having a little bubbles in it let me know thanks. That Superman decals are a pain in the rear.
You can use the water technique for big decals that need to line up.
I built one of these,,,,,,, in 1989!!
Well done sir, i like this truck...
But i cant buy it because isn't available in my region😌
Have you decided what to do with the steering on the clodbuster weather your you will keep the the 4wheel steering or if you will lock the rear wheels and use just the front steering?
Someone hasn’t seen the video 😂😉
I have servo on axel kits coming to me. I’ll keep rear wheel steering for a while
Have you checked out the newly released chassis from JConcepts yet?
Yep but import tax and handling fee make it super expensive and way out of budget unfortunately.
Your making it hard not to buy one and have fun!
I owned a ClodBuster MANY (over 30 years ago) years ago and it had a high/low gear switch. I remember it going so fast it was almost uncontrollable in high gear. All the videos I’m watching now they look painfully slow. Do they still have that high/low gear switch, and if so, which gear were you running it in in this video?
Clod never had a high & low switch as far as I know. You can make the Clod as fast as you like but handling would completely go out the window lol 👍🏻
@@RCKickschannel my late 1980s Clod had one. I remember finally getting it put together and being disappointed in the speed. Then I remembered the switch and flipped it and I was blown away. 🤷♀️
damper shock is from ? can you tell me
Schumacher big bore and the others are Traxxas shocks
You may like to check out the ESP clodzilla ii chassis. You can find more info on how to order one on Facebook under "ESP clodzilla". Same company who made the chassis that's under the red clod at the end of your video. Good luck with your projects!
Man where i can find those jump ramps?
I think I got them from Amazon.
quel beau model a cole comme teleguide sa fait dure
I bought an aluminum chassis on ebay
Hey, if u don't wana trip over this truck and possibly get hurt, I'll take it off ur hands 😁
Gain I have a metal chassis and bead lock wheels I'm not going to use
Hi Tony, cool! Can you send me some pics with prices to gavinevans@rckicks.com 👍🏻
@@RCKickschannel I'll get it sorted asap gavin
Check out www.teamcpe.com not sure what shipping would be
Hahaha
self etching primer will not harm hard shell body's . not sure about poly carbonate though. great vid awesome rc ..pro tip always cut parts from sprue before painting or you will just end up having touchups. Also you can use a razor blade to cut off the clear drips and then wet sand like normal.
