Hello, I wanted to post my experience because a lot of people are coming down on you. So, this was my experience changing my BCM on my 2011 Chevy Impala. I purchased a used BCM, part number was correct. Took my lower dash apart and unplugged the 7 couplers that jack into the BCM. Then I placed the car key in the ignition and turned it on. Then I hot swapped the BCM by plugging in the couplers. As I did the lights on the dash came on. Then after all the couplers were plugged in, I started my car and as it ran all the lights on the dash came on, such as traction control, ABS, Stability Track error and so fourth. As the car ran, the lights turned off. I kept the car running for about 12 minutes. Turned it off because one of my concerns was the anti theft system. Everything worked fine, I checked it with my Tech 2 program, anti theft system was working, my FOB to open/lock doors, pop trunk, and auto start vehicle worked. The mileage carried over from the original mileage. Drove the vehicle for 50+ miles if any learning was needed. It actually worked, I have to say I was surprised. That was my experience, thank you for coming up with the idea.
@@petercosta3884 did you turn on the car with the original bcm still connected? Then did you leave the car running while you hot swapped over to the used junkyard bcm? When did you disconnect the original bcm?
Thanks for the video, I totaled my 02 in an accident and bought another one for cheap with a bad bcm. I'm also scraping for money so this video saved me the headache of going to the dealer.
Thank you Sir. I had been trying to find out how to program the BCM and doing it your way it worked great the lights on the dash came on when I started the car but they started going out as the car ran, It works great now Thank you again.

I got a 04 ion 2 kinda havin same problem. The ion is known for ignition switches goin out pass lock coming on says service vehicle on dash board.. what I just found out is it’s not just the ignition it’s the bcm. Which led me to your video. But what you did does help, on the ion’s it’s the same way you disconnect your battery and whole vehicle starts doin crazy stuff. My mom has a Chevy Colorado did same thing as well after disconnecting the battery. GM hmmm. Thanks tho man I’ll keep this info in mind if I’m fact it’s my bcm I haven’t pin pointed it yet.

Aaron do you think this would work in a 2009 Nissan Rogue as well? The keys are working intermittently right now but my mechanic just told me that the BCM was the reason they weren't working consistently and that I had to take it to the dealer which want half as much as the thing is worth to replace and reprogram which is crazy. I'd appreciate a reply and thanks for your time.
Will that work for my 02 envoy. I replaced the multi switch for the cruise control right after the cruise stopped working and it said that the BCM is the problem. According to the scanner. And does it work the same way to reprogram the other BCM I got for it. I made sure that they were matching numbers and all. But it won't start with the other BCM.

My 08 Vue's brake lights are staying on while key is out of ignition. It only shuts off when I pull the fuse for BCM VB3. I checked the brake pedal sensor (it's good), replaced the engine stop light fuse. Do I have to replace the BCM?
Just watched your video and my power windows on my Saturn ion 2007 does not work nor does the power locks on the driver side master switch is it the same for an 07 Saturn ion to swap out the BCM as it as it was for your vehicle
Thank you Sir; I'll gonna work on my 97 honda crv; I 've issues with door lock ,and internal light as well cigarrete lighter, ran some test on electrical shorts, but i think is the BNC. You mention the used bnc you replaced with , show the milage of the original car. My car only has 174,000 miles i should get something less than 200,000 right ?, I like your opinion.
So leave the battery plugged up, and leave the key on (engine not running), remove the old BCM, install new BCM. Then start the vehicle. This is how it will program itself? Awesome!
@Alex Cosme a shop plugged a donor BCM into my 04 Colorado, and it flashed my 98K mileage to 240K on my instrument cluster😑. So now I have to remove my cluster to have it zeroed out, and it will flash back to the correct mileage that my new programmed BCM is set to. This stored cluster mileage MAY NOT always be a issue with all vehicles. But I'd make certain before ever using a donor BCM
I’m going to try this on an 03 Monte Carlo. I have a brand new bcm and I also have a donor bcm from a used car. Do you kno if I can use the brand new one or should I use the donor 1?
Aaron thank you I am ordering a BCM for my car a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara , it looks like I need to turn on the key during the disconnecting of the cables to the old BCM and reconnecting of the cables to the new BCM. Without turning off the key after it's replaced, I turn on the ignition? Just reinforcing what you have taught me. I enjoyed your video thank you for sharing.
You did not program that BCM. You simply transferred a used BCM to your vehicle. Your milage is incorrect and your vehicle security system locked up as a result. That used BCM has the restistance value learned from the vehicle it was removed from.

You gotta reprogram the keyfob to the "new" bcm. Oh wait the Keyfob receiver that receives and decodes the lock/ unlock signals is located behind the passenger side back seat seat back near the seat belt. That thing could be bad independently of the bcm.
God bless you for your help. I was wondering do you disconnect the battery terminals till the next day before or after the swap? 4 years later and I feel that it’s become worse out here. Fast food inflation has gone up to %70.
If you have a bad bcm, DO NOT take off your battery cables, or your car will not start back up. At 5:22. ONLY IF YOU HAVE A BAD BCM, if you disconnect the battery beforehand, you have to let the car sit overnight (to drain all the power from the cars computer) then in the morning reconnect and it will run. ONLY DO THAT if you have to change your battery (if you say, have a bad battery) to get your car to run WITH A BAD BCM.
Thanks for the info on my BCM. As you described the problem it is exactly what is happening to my 2001 L300 Saturn. And thank you for how to replace it and reprogram it. However, did the used bcm still have the program from the previous vehicle? Thanks from Jim of Roseburg Oregon
What every you do, DO NOT spill the Ice Tea 😜 I was told if you get a bcm with same part number you don't need to reprogram to your vehicle? Thanks for sharing, good stuff.
I think id rather wait a day for the system to reset the risk damaging other delicate electronics on the vehicle. there are sellers on ebay that sell remanufactured BCM's for 250 and they will reprogram your BCM for free if you give your VIN number, year make and model of your vehicle
Great vid Aaron, money is tight , can anyone advise could I avoid having to reprogram a BCM in a card key start/stop button Renault ? So instead of having the ignition barrel I just put my card key in and all electrics turn on, then I just press brake and start button same time to start, I have 3 failing windows , just 1 of the back windows works from the drivers window module , but a parts dealer said cos only 1 window works from only the driver module switch, it may be the BCM that needs replacing rather than the drivers window module switch, otherwise the switch from the back window would work, any advice appreciated guys ?
So turn the key to on position then swap the bcm and it's good to go? 2010 traverse won't even start because of the bcm going out and like most I can't afford $600 for a new one and to "flash" it. Really hope this works for me. Gonna order a used bcm from same yr/make/model and try this
Did you fix it? Have you looked up if your car has a way to reset the car anti theft lock/security light. ? If it has a step by step process then that might work. It worked for my car, since thats what needs to be synced. The ignition switch cannot communicate properly until it is reset, for my car it was a 30 minute process and a $30 part from the junkyard.
@@justchillin7274 no it didn't, I had to reprogram the key. Luckily my neighbors friend works for a repo company and they had the scan tool and let me use it. Took like 12 mins for it reprogram
Im not really familiar with Saturn's, I know a little bit about the s series but nothing about the l series, if I come across a used l300 same year as the one im working on will i still have to program it? You sound like Denzel Washington lol
FROM A LICENCED REGISTERED MECHANIC AND GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THE BCM "Remove and install a BCM body control module All repair procedures tell you to disconnect the battery cables first. Well, this time they mean it. NEVER disconnect or connect a BCM body control module with the battery cables connected. You can damage other electronic components connected to the sensitive data bus and you can even blow out the new parts. The hardest part of the job, aside from finding it, is figuring out how to remove the electrical connector locking latches. Once you figure that out, just remove the connectors and remove the BCM."
Thank you Tim Clarey, your post was extremely helpful except we seen your post after we watched & did what the video said (but would like to thank him for just being kind & trying to help people out he will be blessed). So did what video said, didnt work plus my security light came on & won't go out. Our problem from the beginning was our 2000 chevy S-10 WILL NOT START!! It's getting spark but no fuel, we have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter both brand new the pump IS working(you can hear it) so the fuel gets through the filter and that's it, stops there. Been working on this for a couple of months now we are completely frustrated at this point & can't keep putting $$ into thing's that aren't causing the problem were on social security so a very fixed income. Any help or thoughs that you can give would be greatly appreciated. P.S- the truck was running perfect then one day just wouldn't start. Thanks in advance, Angela
I was wondering about that Tim .. i read up a lot on doing this. most said unplug the batter first thing , i need to replace mine and trying to figure out how to do it . also wondering if it will start up after i change the BCM.. since it wont start now , so i can get it to the dealer with out towing it..
Tim question on buying a used BCM from Ebay that came out of a 2003 monte carlo. would that work if i just connected that in .. since its the same car it came out of as mine ? or does it still need to be reprogammed , not sure about the vin number or the miles reading would be affected , $40 is not a bad price if this would work , Thanks
on a chrysler minivan I think its easier to remove the engine as they hide the BCM behind the junction box below the steering columb. Then add insult to injury by putting unessesary bolts to attach it to theBACK if the Junction block. I was having two years of litghts that would quit at night, no horn, no brake lights, no instrument lights or instruments, no interior lights no wipers, no radio no windshield washers But it started up ok
So is this a fact on all model cars as far as the process on swapping BCM! Bc i dnt think so as some other cars requier unplugging battery nd calibrated the SKIMM security fub nd antitheft system to wrk

ONLY DO THAT if you have to change your battery (if you say, have a bad battery) to get your car to run WITH A BAD BCM.
bravo, your genios, your best, tank you wery match for gold information
Thanks for the info on my BCM. As you described the problem it is exactly what is happening to my 2001 L300 Saturn. And thank you for how to replace it and reprogram it. However, did the used bcm still have the program from the previous vehicle? Thanks from Jim of Roseburg Oregon
Did u ever fix your problem
My Saturn l300 2001 miles are Unknown as well
Thank you you saved me a lot of money
Thank you! It all helps.
Thanks Bro. GOOD VIDEO!
What every you do, DO NOT spill the Ice Tea 😜
I was told if you get a bcm with same part number you don't need to reprogram to your vehicle?
Thanks for sharing, good stuff.
If you remove the bom while the car is running the car stops??
Notice how the miles changed from 140k to 211k after he put the other bcm .
Hello I had the engine changed in my 04 Saturn Vue. It will act like it want to start be it won't stay on. Will this method work for that.
No...

Thank you !!! Good video .
I need to try this. Thanks
Hopefully this works. Gonna try this on my GTO
Your the man ma brotha
Oh hey...do you have to get another bcm, or would i be able to do this with the one I have?
I will be trying this later today..fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Did you try it?
Would this work for a new BCM that has never been programmed?
Great video. Thanks
Wow you are a genius... would this work for 2008 cts??
Will the same trick works on 2007 Cadillac Escalade?
😂that really helped me out bro. Thanks alot
Hi will this process work for a Ford ranger t6 3.2 2013. Thank you for your replay
Thanks so much, for your assistance
God bless you sir!. Stay blessed.
Thank you. I will try it on my 2001 saturn sl2. It's a different kind of car but it may work on my 01 saturn sl2.
I think id rather wait a day for the system to reset the risk damaging other delicate electronics on the vehicle.
there are sellers on ebay that sell remanufactured BCM's for 250 and they will reprogram your BCM for free if you give your VIN number, year make and model of your vehicle
Watch out for bait and switch scams, Fla company's are bad.
Just a question, will this process work on any brand of car? 😬
Can you make on other video about the power steering part!???
Great vid Aaron, money is tight , can anyone advise could I avoid having to reprogram a BCM in a card key start/stop button Renault ? So instead of having the ignition barrel I just put my card key in and all electrics turn on, then I just press brake and start button same time to start, I have 3 failing windows , just 1 of the back windows works from the drivers window module , but a parts dealer said cos only 1 window works from only the driver module switch, it may be the BCM that needs replacing rather than the drivers window module switch, otherwise the switch from the back window would work, any advice appreciated guys ?
Did you get fixed ??
Will this process work on a 2016 Kia Sorento?
Wanted does concept n experience apply as well on 2917 Malibu Premier with push Start?
Im not really familiar with Saturn's, I know a little bit about the s series but nothing about the l series, if I come across a used l300 same year as the one im working on will i still have to program it? You sound like Denzel Washington lol
FROM A LICENCED REGISTERED MECHANIC AND GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THE BCM "Remove and install a BCM body control module
All repair procedures tell you to disconnect the battery cables first.
Thanks in advance,
Angela
I was having two years of litghts that would quit at night, no horn, no brake lights, no instrument lights or instruments, no interior lights no wipers, no radio no windshield washers
But it started up ok
So how to correct the mileage for you vechical
So is this a fact on all model cars as far as the process on swapping BCM! Bc i dnt think so as some other cars requier unplugging battery nd calibrated the SKIMM security fub nd antitheft system to wrk
Love the narration, You sound just like Denzel Washington!
Haha ur right I feel like the rookie mechanic in training day now
