I have to say, most excellent video. It explains so much. Thank you for sharing. I feel like I've been through hell and back but I did get it to work. I have a 2007 Nissan Titan, and after changing the positive battery terminal, something was clicking, dashboard was going haywire. I disconnected the bat.terminals, touched these disconnected terminals together for about 10 seconds, which drains any energy or static, I guess in the BCM or other places. Then, I reconnected the terminals to the battery and placed a battery charger on. I turned the key once to the first position, and waited a few seconds, then turned the key to the second position waited a few seconds, then tried to start and it worked. Good luck
My GMC Sierra 2500 HD has door locks clicking intermittently, ignition start function isolation, the rpm undulates up and down while cruising, cruise control light shows on but won’t set a speed and there is a check engine light. Already changed the brake switch 8 months ago and it cleared up. Now it’s back
Yep, having one ordered today. 2006 mazda 6 while lights is on if i use right or left turn signals the hazards come on! If i turn lights off the turn signals work like their supposed to. Also if i lock my doors with the key fob the hazards come on. My mechanic has one on the way. Just hopefully it won't need reprogrammed which will cost more. Fingers crossed.
Could a bad BCM make my air conditioner and radio go super loud every time I turn the key? Also can it make a brand new battery turn into a dead cell? I've gone through 3 new ones

My bcm on my 19 f350 is getting replaced as I type. Some of the tpm sensors have to be replaced as well. My horn , lights, hazards, tpm, ebrake chime, door locks, tranny module etc started going nuts. $2200 so far. The harness connection had corrosion but it seems to be all right. What a pain in the arse.

Thanks for the informative video. I have an urgent request concerning a problem with my truck. This is an International truck. The DEF, check engine and the triangle lights came on. I was asked to change the Turbo Actuator. Two days later, same lights came back on. This time around, my mechanic said it's the Body Controller Module. He said there's no communication between the BCM and the Turbo Actuator. There is no loss of power from the truck. The truck runs good even when those lights came on both times. Is this really the problem? If this is the problem, can I use a used BCM or I should just go ahead and buy a brand new one? Thank you

My 04 GMC Yukon has randomly exhibited the following crazy alarms, displays and behaviors: Seatbelts (when all are fastened), Tire Pressure Monitor, Service Stability Control. Once the key fob stopped unlocking and then was OK. Also the left turn signal was freezing without flashing and coming on (solid) with brake pedal. AutoZone read the following fail codes: C0196 Yaw Rate Circuit Malfunction and C0455 Steering Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction. Does all this sound like the BCM is the likely culprit? And if so, does a replacement have to be programmed by a dealer?

That’s why I shy from owning a more modern car cuz they are overly complicated and sensitive in these computer system. Sensors and modules and all kinds of stuff that needs reprogramming more often than not. I guess i better learn as much as I can.
Will a bad BCM cause power windows to stay live all the time? My vehicle was in a collision and repaired but the battery keeps draining and I noticed the window switches on the doors stay illuminated and the windows can be rolled up/down while the car is off and locked. Also speedometer doesn’t work and gas hand is erratic. Thanks

2013 ram 1500 sport. All of those issues you talked about in your video. The truck wouldn't shut off so we unhooked to battery and after hooking it back up, pretty much no power to anything but the cab light, the side mirrors have power, the push start says off, headlights, tail lights, but no dash lights or power. If this is replaced, does it have to be programmed by a shop or dealer?
i did not as of yet.. i took out some fuses from the car that are associated with the radio and checked them and put them back and the radio started working intermittently and then just totally went out (the fuses was not damaged) i think when i Bring my car to mazda for an oil change ill have to them diagnose it.. @@DalScottGuitar

Good stuff, My alarm keeps telling me my trunk is open but the dash doesn't indicate it is, So the alarm triggers every 30 mins. "New Alarm" Did same thing with old alarm and Also draining battery like it did with old alarm. Lights used to flicker a while back all dash lights, AC would stop working, just weird stuff but I think that was caused by a bad alternator, I have since replaced the Alternator, New battery, Cleaned battery ground cable, cleaned alternator ground cable. The only weird stuff happening is some doors won't close and sometime they will. The the trunk open is triggering my alarm and draining my batter. So I am wondering if it could also be a bad Actuator on a door or even the power trunk mechanism? I had a friend run a computer scan and check the BCM for errors he said it all came back clear. :o/ I will take a look at the ground in the BCM and also take out the bcm and smell it. I should not have to program the bcm if i remove it? all I would have to do is Remove the ground from the battery before unplugging it for inspection? Thanks for this video, very helpful insight.
Kia rio 2012 UB here. Im having problems with my trunk dash light on... but the trunk is closed.. WHICH sets of alarm. So atm my car is not locked, so no 3am alarms :/ I`m now doing research, if it would be the actuator, switch, some sort of electrical problem or a bad BCM. The trunk light stays on, which I think could be a bad switch position on the latch lid. At least I hope, cause BCM expensive.. I Don`t want to replace parts not needed. - What was the culprit for your isssues and did you ever fix it? Thanks

I have a 2019 ram 1500 limited i was driving the whole day and while driving al the lights came on the ac started to blow heat instead of cooling and the about 5 to 10 minutes the logo came back like if you turn the key on to start and then everything was back to normal it happens 5 times n 4 hour is the any body that could help me thanks
I've been experiencing some issues with my car NISSAN ALTIMA 2017 over the last two days. The problems are as follows: While Driving or Park mode, the car locks and unlocks automatically. The front seat side windows roll down by themselves when the car is parked. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: Reset the car’s CPU by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and reconnecting it. Reset the power windows by pressing the button for 10 seconds in both the fully down and fully up positions. I suspected the issue might be with the key fob, so I removed the battery from fob and locked the car with the windows closed in parking. However, after 10-15 minutes, both front windows were found down. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any suggestions on what could be causing this
I suspect a bad BCM on my 2015 Q50 I see people on ebay selling the BCM and ECM as a pair with the matching Key Fob would I be able to replace both and not need to program anything ? I am assuming the car would not know the difference as long as they are both replaced with a matching set. Thoughts?
Replacing computer modules varies and depends on the vehicle and the module software. Sometimes it is a simple swap out other times it will need a software update/programed. It is best to research the information case by case.

I have an 04 tahoe. Service 4x4 and brake system had popped up on display before with the check engine and service brake lights. After this I couldn't start with the key bit could remote start and it would run but feel sluggish. Eventually this went away and my key had been working for months. Had been getting a lot of squeaking and clicking under my passenger side dash, when feeling around i decided to turn on air blower on and all the dash stuff popped back up. Turned off and tried to start with key and it seems I'm back at square one. Does any of this sound familiar? Did you get a new BCM? Sorry this is long af. 😅

Can you get a code u1110 and uo140 after changing the battery terminals and cleaning the wires going to the battery? It's a 2015 jeep renegade latitude 2.4 and it was having trouble starting and had weak spark. But after doing that it's fine now and even the headlights are shining brighter. But it has those codes which it didn't have before?plus was running with a miss but that cleared and didn't come back. And the codes wo6clear.
@HVAC_Mechanic that's the thing. These 2 codes weren't there until after the work was completed and the vehicle is running fine? No cil or anything? was just hooking up the scanner to make sure that the codes from before didn't return and they didn't but these are there? SMH they won't clear? Also before i did anything the neighbor di hook up a booster pac to try and get it started when they thought that it was the battery but that didn't even help bc of the bad connection at the battery. Go figure.

I would say Yes. I was unplugging the battery. Now I'm just unplugging the BCM.

It's possible, but usually, when the BCM is bad, there are multiple issues.
Would this make it so the transmission won't shift

Yes, a bad battery or bad connections can cause problems. If everything is fixed, you could clear the codes and see if they come back.
