I just wanna say that your approach to forecasting for future Nintendo directs is so much better than those clickbaity prediction videos so many other RUclipsrs make.
I’m just hoping for a Woolly World port. There’s no definitive way to play the game since the Wii U version doesn’t have the 3DS content, but the 3DS version’s graphics aren’t anywhere near as good as the Wii U version. Imo woolly world deserves a port more than DKCR since there’s already an amazing DK game on switch, while yoshi is stuck with Crafted World as the only yoshi game on switch. A Bomberman collection would also be really nice to see, since Konami put out a survey asking about previous Bomberman games, plus they could really add a ton of value to the collection since Hudson Soft made a whole bunch of Bomberman games in the 90s
Finally someone acknowlegdes this game. Nobody ever talks about it but it is extremely good and highly underrated. It would be a perfect game to bridge the gap to the switch 2: It's already done, just needs porting, it gives yoshi a second game on switch which is also way better than Crafted World, not a lot of people played the original and its easy money.
Agree, Woolly World was developed with WiiU-level graphics in mind to bring its game feel to life through the detailed wool textures and interactions. At this point I wouldn‘t mind a cross-gen remaster with Switch 2, but either way a port is long overdue. The visuals basically market themselves.
There is no real gap. I think we are so used to Nintendo's releases that we make it law. For example they could just be DQ1&2 space to do well because their obviously isn't a game bigger than that or Brothership. Secondly their really big games are now put out in Oct. Yes Mario Party is a bigger game(deal) than Brothership. Lastly Nintendo doesn't usually reveal new games in the same season for September directs unless it's a shadow drop.
Yeah, a "Mushroom Kingdom Warriors"/"Mushroom World Warriors", a "Dark Land Warriors"/"Castle of Koopa Warriors" or even a "DK Isles Warriors" video game would be so awesome there (even though the latter would actually be a Donkey Kong Warriors video game - not a Mario Warriors video game)!!

Honestly, I feel like the remaining WiiU games yet to be ported are actually more likely to get more substantial remasters on the successor (potentially late into that console's cycle ala LM2HD) than to find any life on the original Switch, since WiiU re-releases effectively grinded to a halt after year 2. Pretty much every remaining candidate is also known for having some of that system's best visuals, so I think just porting them to a system similar enough to the WiiU in power might be a bit of a waste when they could inject even more detail into them on a far stronger console, and possibly even push one as a graphical showcase for the successor system.
_Nintendo Land_ and _Mario Party 10_ come to mind when it comes to Nintendo Wii U video games that never got an enhanced port on the current Nintendo Switch yet should be enhanced ported - or even get full-on remastered - for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, as they require a second screen as they utilized the GamePad *_heavily_* on the Nintendo Wii U. Meanwhile, _Yoshi's Woolly World_ didn't utilize the GamePad nearly as much there if I recall correctly here; so an enhanced port to the existing Nintendo Switch can - and should - happen there. *[THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NOTE: There are rumours that the successor to the Nintendo Switch is going to utilize a second screen in some way; that's the main reason why I think here that **_Nintendo Land_** and **_Mario Party 10_** should wait for the successor to the Nintendo Switch to come out onto the market before they get any enhanced ports or full-on remasters.]*
I think the next direct will either be a mini or a partner showcase. If anyones noticed, their socials clarify that announcements "will not" have informstion of the successor. It stands to reason that it seems probable they'll give us a 30-45 sec teaser at the very beginning, then ask everyone to wait a little longer for more information (either in October or in January) just to hold people over. Nintendo is very aware people are eagerly waiting hence the disclaimer tweets.
Honestly my money is on there not being another direct this year, ofc Nintendo could surprise us with a banger direct yet again, but I imagine they'll want to schedule their remaining big Switch 1 games after the Switch 2 comes out to take advantage of cross-gen (and keep the Switch 1 alive as long as possible)
Xenoblade Warriors has made me a believer because there is a blank spot in the current Xenoblade timeline that it makes perfect sense to slot into. The newer warriors games attempt to slot the games in as what if scenarios or canon sequels working with existing canon. And it just so happens that there's a perfect timeline spot to place the game that'd allow for playable characters from all three numbered entries. That is, after Xenoblade 1 and 2, But before Future Redeemed. There are a LOT of unresolved mysteries and vagueness in that timeline spot. I believe this was left over deliberately to be filled by a spin off. Takahashi and Monolith are very conscious of their story, and aren't one to get sloppy. There should be something revealed about that time period. The Xenoblade 3 setting also perfectly suits a warriors game. Xenoblade 3 is basically entirely about large scale wars. It's also worth noting that 2025 is the series 15th anniversary. So having a spin off game that allows you to play as characters from all three main timeline games would be fan-service of the highest order.
Heads up you basically repeated a question on the survey since a sizeable chunk of people conflate "remaster" & "remake" meaning your likely to get a similar response for questions like question 3 & 12 despite the fact I get the impression you were asking slightly different outcomes on the same topic. It might be worth ether having a working definition for your survey's use of the terms included in the question description or one question that lumps them together in the future.
I wanted to note in particular that I would like to see your thoughts on when or even how Splatoon 4 might be revealed or released, though I am aware that series is particularly hard to predict. Splatoon 3 caught plenty of people off-guard, but it also even looks like *maybe* it was supposed to come out sooner, with Splatoon 2 seemingly given extended support in the form of Splatfests. Depends on when it's releasing/entering manufacturing. If it's March-June next year, then they might have to in order to avoid manufacturing leaks spoiling the reveal. I'm in 2 minds whether they'd want to reveal earlier; in order to let it pass from the conversation prior to the holiday sales window, or as late as possible (ie. Mid-december), to mitigate the sales impact by doing it after those holiday sales are made. They could potentially reveal it and then announce a Switch price drop or a mega holiday bundle to push sales through the end of the year.

@@ausgod538 could’ve explained why broski. If not, they can hopefully take charge of the Kid Icarus franchise with a different dev team. With the Uprising style of rail shooter/third person shooter it’s not an oversaturated genre on Nintendo consoles and Uprising did well enough to establish a small fan base like me that almost rivals that of Metroid or Fire Emblem, and pretty much meets that of Xenoblade.
I'll look into the "wisdow of crowds", but reactively, I think it doesn't apply here. I'm guessing you're likely to have very little correlation between our guesses and what really happens, except for the items that you bias our answers on. We just don't have the same scope of information or awareness as you, and without that, the crowd is going to be speaking to desire more than to pattern or trend. still, i'm fascinated to see which is correct! this research is fun ❤
Great video (as always) with insightful and thoughtful forecasts, I'm looking forward to seeing what sticks both from your predictions and the survey. However, 37:20 I have to strongly disagree, my personal forecast is a 90% chance we won't get any core series Pokémon games on NSO for the next decade if not longer. Whilst Pokémon is partially owned by Nintendo, Gamefreak wears the pants in the relationship (TPCI is owned by Gamefreak) and dictates all the major stuff Pokémon wise. For the sake of brevity I won't go into full ownership detail but I will recommend Lewtwo for a great explanation into the workings of the business behind Pokémon. Nintendo would have to ask Gamefreak for permission to put Pokémon games on NSO, and I don't think they'd oblige considering the Pokémon VC games on 3DS were the best sellers on the eshop, with RBGY alone selling over 1.5 million in two months. Again for brevity I won't try to calculate the complete core series VC sales but all of them (RGBY, GSC,) sold incredibly well and made Gamefreak millions off of simple ports. Gamefreak is far more likely to do "Virtual Console" style rereleases of core series Pokémon similar to how Nintendo did Mario All stars or Capcom the various Mega Man collections. It'd make them far more money and better serve their "values" (Pokémon HOME compatability, no same region competition [Kanto exists on the switch with LG]). TLDR: Gamefreak owns Pokémon for the most part and is the main deciding head. They wouldn't want to put the games on NSO because they could make far more money doing virtual console style rereleases. The 3DS VC sales are evident of how big a return on investment they can make from simple ports of their old games. Soz for wall of txt.
As an aside - My brain immediately went to Pokemon Warriors when you suggested 'what else is there?' for a new Nintendo Warriors game and... I doubt that would ever happen but it would be hilarious (and it wouldn't be the first time a Pokemon spinoff was in a more 'serious' military focused franchise - Pokemon Conquest is a Nobunaga's Ambition game, after all)
Actually, you're right. I keep meaning to do a video on warriors spin-off potential and I've always thought Pokemon would make sense. But now there is a Poke-shaped gap and perhaps a studio that would be ideal for it. Clearly it's unlikely in the scheme of things but among all the long-shot calls, this is a really decent one.
I think 3D Super Mario is more likely to show up before Mario Kart 10. For one thing, it’s still something dedicated Nintendo fans are STARVING for, so it’s better for early hype, as the Zelda games were. Mario Kart at least got DLC recently I do think Kirby and Splatoon are two titles that should not be dismissed as options, but Kirby might just have something relatively small for Switch, not the successor. Edit: Sadly you did not talk about Splatoon. What about a Warioland remake or collection? It might be a bit late in the NSO drip feed of past system games though, because Warioland games could just show up in those. And honestly, at this point I think they just like WarioWare way more and might not see room for a platformer at this time. Maybe when Wario gets introduced in the movies we will finally get to see him return to the Warioland style
It’s not deluding if anything it’s expanding by opening the series new and unique tracks that you wouldn’t by simply sticking to just Mario and donkey Kong theme tracks.
These are my full predictions: Fire Emblem 4 remake dated for February New 2D Kirby game for March Prime 4 given a Spring 2025 date with Prime 2/3 shadow dropped after the direct I think that’s all Nintendo needs to do before Switch 2, if it’s coming out in Spring of 2025
They should rather aim for a 'Kirby and the Forgotten Land 2' ....my kids got hooked on the '3D Kirby platformer' (while the 2D titles are not much played nowadays)
@@therealjaystone2344 Yeah that was my thought. Save the big 3D game for the next console and give us a 2D one for the current console. They’ve already done this with Mario Wonder and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, so Kirby wouldn’t be that far fetched
I don't think we're getting a general direct until after the reveal of the new system (working on the assumption that it comes out Q1 25/26, so will be revealed Q3 and detailed in Q4). If there's anything beforehand, it'll be a mini, a partner showcase, or a pokemon presentation. I think at this stage, most of what they're working on is for the successor and they won't want to show it before its titled. (I think the pre-announced games used in the reveal will be MP4 and Pokemon Z/A.) I hope I'm wrong; but I think we're entering a bit of an information drought before the flood gates open early next year.
I think it's odd that Pokemon Warriors and Kirby Warriors are never in the conversation. Given the wide variety of Pokemon out there and the fact The Pokemon Company has worked with Koei Tecmo before, as well as the strength of the Pokemon IP, the former could be huge. And then Kirby's action-platformer design could lend itself well to a Warriors game with a more restricted cast, with Kirby's abilities making up for there being less unique-in-appearance characters. I also think cross-gen is important to consider for possibilities like a Kid Icarus Uprising remaster. Positioning older games as both ways to keep Switch 1 owners busy with releases and means of reviving old IPs to the fledgling audience on the new system (capturing more interest early on) would be smart, I think. Oh, and one idea I've had regarding the future of Mario sports games is that Nintendo will shift development of Mario Golf over to Clap Hanz so that Camelot has more time to flesh out Mario Tennis and potentially tackle other projects. Now that Clap Hanz has essentially broken ties with Sony, approaching the developer who took over for Camelot on the Everybody's Golf series (which I believe plays much like Mario Golf) seems like a good call, especially with Camelot seemingly being strained somewhat by their relatively small size.
On the one hand, I feel like Nintendo aren't the type of company who'd do somethibg as bold as to leave Mario Golf to a new company when they have a good working relationship with Camelot and probably feel they are satisfactory for their needs... But MAN would I like to live in the world where they DO let Camelot rest a little from the Mario Sports titles, so I'm gonna hope you're right anyway.
@@goranisacson2502 It's hard to say, but I imagine they want to be increasingly strategic about trying to ensure quality and quantity, and that means seeking out more partners to work with. Camelot did a solid job with Mario Tennis Aces, but Mario Golf had a much more tepid reception (and I'd say some things feel downright unpolished - the Speed Golf jumping physics on All-Star Summit with the clouds are probably the worst-feeling thing I've ever experienced in a Mario game), and their focus on Mario sports games has kept them from revisiting Golden Sun or exploring new opportunities. Bringing on a developer fully specializing in golf games so that Camelot can have more flexibility might be the right call, though apparently Clap Hanz is even smaller than Camelot

I love this idea but since Nintendo doesn't have a presence in India as far as I know (and cricket doesn't have the same international appeal as baseball or basketball), it seems unlikely. Perhaps as part of a sport mix though.
GGs! Great results, all things considered. I’ll admit that I don’t really care about the forecasting so much, but it’s a great gimmick and rather gamifies the forecasting in a cool way.
Arithmetic mean probably but it depends to some degree on the sample size and whether any results are particularly noteworthy. I'm looking for results that feel descriptive of the audience response so I'm not necessarily committing to only using a particular approach. My bigger issue is that the scale runs from 10% to 90% which arbitrarily suppresses likelihoods in the very high and very low range. Off the top of my head I'm inclined to do something like (x-10)*0.8 for each submission, find the arithmetic mean and round to the nearest one of my five categories.
Okay for Next Week's or September's Nintendo Direct I don't think we could get anything for Switch 2 in September well except for the games that they could reveal like 3D Mario, the next new Mario Kart if it's called Mario Kart 9 or X, the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a new Star Fox game, and a new Donkey Kong Game but there are some remakes and remasters from the 3DS and GameCube that I would do like and hope and have a chance to be on Switch before we move on to Switch 2. Like for the 3DS they could reveal full-on remakes of both Kirby Triple Deluxe and Kirby Planet Robobot as well as having new side modes for both Taranza and Susie just like how they did with Magolor in Magolor Epilogue like for Taranza his side story would be him trying to find Queen Sectonia after Kirby defeated her and for Susie's side story she would be her trying to find her Father President Haltmann or Kirby's Robobot Suit after Kirby destroyed Star Dream but I think Susie should find Kirby's Robobot Armor Suit because it was sad when the suit let Kirby go and then it cried which was so sad so I think it would be nice of Susie to give Kirby his Robobot Armor Suit back which that would be so nice of her to do that for Kirby. And maybe we could see a remake of Kirby Air Ride cause then we would have new Kirby Characters in the roster. Also, they can bring back these three Kirby characters from Kirby Right Back At Ya to the series which are Tiff, Tuff, and Escargoon since Kirby Air Ride is part of Kirby Right Back At Ya which makes sense so yeah. And finally giving us Tomodachi Life with the Mii Maker Editor Editor from Miitopia and adding it to Tomodachi Life and also having online as well. And for GameCube they can give us a remake of Star Fox Assault and giving us online mode for VS Mode in Assault and also maybe giving us a remake of Luigi's Mansion 1 or any of the GameCube Mario Party Games. But they can also reveal the new leaked 2D Kirby Game called Kirby and the Celestial Stars which could be after Kirby Star Allies or after Kirby and the Forgotten Land or after any of the two 3DS Kirby Games but I don't know if they're gonna do it but I'm still concerned about the new female Kirby Character that looks related to Susie Haltmann which is Polly cause if they add her in the Kirby series but I feel bad for what the internet is gonna do to her but I hope the new 2D Kirby game goes good. But I know BoTalksGames did talk about the new rumor 2D Kirby Game leak which it does look well made fake leak for a new 2D Kirby game which I agree with him which it does look fake but we'll see what happens for what HAL is gonna do for Kirby when they're still working on the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land for Switch 2. So I do hope we do get another General Nintendo Direct or Partner or Mini in Next Week or September's Nintendo Direct before we move on to Switch 2.
My only for this potential direct is a possible Metroid Prime 4 overview trailer and a very vague tease about the new console with the announcement of that reveal at the very end of the direct
I doubt Metroid Prime 4 will be there, so unless they have a HD Remaster of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes or a HD port of Metroid Samus Returns under raps, I wouldn't expect any Metroid news.

There won’t be another Nintendo Direct this year, unless the Switch successor’s reveal gets the Direct branding. The June direct will get us through to early next year, and the Switch will wind down after that.
We'll I doubt Metroid Prime 4 will be there, so unless they have either a HD Remaster of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes or a HD port of Metroid Samus Returns with Fusion mode and all the other Amiibo blocked content unlockable without the need for Amiibos, I'm not expecting any Metroid new there.
Think this direct will mostly be about remakes and remasters along with a few lower ranking 3d party games. Personally I'd like to see a remake of one of the gamecube Star Fox games.
So here’s a question for you, having just done your survey, how likely do you think it is that DK64 will be the title that shadow drops onto NSO? I ask as, now idk if you have seen this very recent announcement, the DK64 soundtrack is getting a remaster. I would think this would be the time to capitalize on DK64 dropping to NSO as a means of riding the hype train for when the remaster soundtrack launches in November, which would be the 25th anniversary of DK64. It would make sense imo for them to have been holding off on DK64 for such an occasion as this, otherwise I would truly fail to see why Nintendo has been evading dropping this title to NSO
Interesting idea. I mean, there can't be very many N64 games of real note left to drop so it would make sense as a lead-in to DKCR. I don't know they're bothered about its 25th anniversary. I guess if there's an N64 shadow drop, I'd go to 50%. The fact that they've held on to both this and Diddy makes me wonder if they have a bigger plan in place. But if they do have something bigger, DKCR HD is an odd centrepiece.
@@nintendoforecast given Nintendo’s current pattern of dropping an N64 update every other month, December 2023, February, April, and June having been the months in which they gave N64 an update thus far, I would be willing to at least bump that to a 70%. Tbh I’m just not sure what that bigger plan would be, considering exactly as you said with Nintendo’s weird decision to make DKCR HD being that potential centerpiece. The theme park expansion from what I understand is themed nearly entirely off DKCR’s content, and so DK64 and DKR would kinda feel out of place and serve somewhat contradictory to the marketing I’d think they’d want to do for DKCR HD given the park expansion’s theming revolves around it. now, coinciding DK64’s drop to NSO to a soundtrack remaster with Grant Kirkhope returning to compose it seems like it would make natural sense, and given how recent the announcement is, Nintendo would have to be foolish, at least imo, to wait on anything else. This is the window, DK64 hype is now hitting a high not seen in a while and would certainly serve Nintendo beneficially to shadow drop now to capitalize on the hype and see a substantive increase to their NSO sub count.

Excellent question - I was thinking as I was editing that I should have expanded on this. My thinking was (a) special edition AC Switches would get an uplift (b) ACNH is nearly five years old so it could appeal afresh to fans too young to play in 2020, (c) if it had the same one course/one console mechanic as ACNH's one island/one console mechanic, it would softly pressure people to pick up a secondary console for family members and (d) lapsed ACNH players might upgrade to the Oled. All subtle stuff but I think it would move the needle more than most games they could release at this point.

I can't wrap my head around the concept of using ranges (10%, 30%...) to quantify an event that will either happen (100%) or not happen (0%). How do you measure if the likelihood was accurate?
you measure it against all previous 30%’s and get a percentage. to check for accuracy the percentage is based on multiple 30% predictions instead of just one. for example at the end of the video the previous 30%’s should be correct 30% of the time and incorrect 70% of the time. in practice, when making a single prediction, these percentages are basically a shorthand for a confidence level.

Same; I always want more Pikmin and Xenoblade, but both saw far too much support in 2022-2023 for there to be any higher than a 10% chance of there presence.
I don't think a TotK Hyrule Warriors make sense. The reason Age of Calamity made sense is that BotW crafted a compelling backstory with not only a fair few interesting characters that are dead in the present time of BotW, but also, both Link AND Zelda exist in that past timeline to act as the main characters. Nintendo messed up with the Champions. Those characters were much more interesting than anyone in the present era and got a lot of focus on the marketing despite not actually being part of the story for the most part. I`m sure I was not the only one expecting a story similar to what Age of Calamity covers (time travel aside) as the story of BotW. It set expectations only to constantly fail the player. Personally the story throwing away such a good foundation and sticking to a non-plot full of flashbacks is BotW`s biggest flaw. And I think Nintendo at least agreed that its a problem. TotK puts way more focus on the present-time sages and goes severely out of its way to make the past Sages uninteresting and generic. They don`t even have names nor show their faces and we basically know nothing about them besides how the Gerudo sage is at odds with the big Dorf. In other words, they did their best to make a past storyline around the Imprisioning War not feel compelling, neither in its setting nor in its characters, which they unintentioanlly ended up doing for the struggle against Calamity Ganon in BotW`s past segments. If anything, a Hyrule Warriors 2 following off of the original game with another mix of timelines and worlds with original Triforce Trios (if not an actual sequel to that first game) makes more sense. I`d sooner bet on that or a new franchise warriors (Xenoblade) than a TotK Warriors.
Imprisioning War (TOTK) should’ve been saved for switch 2 because of how poorly performance for the switch 1 hardware too. I still want a mushroom kingdom warriors full of Mario characters to make things interesting for the Nintendo warriors series to expand beyond JRPGs and action adventure.
I suspect a lot of this is from the way Nintendo does the story as an afterthought. Whereas the Warriors games seem to mix (1) what assets can be reused with (2) what's the most fanservicey story? I'd love a proper story in the post-TotK world but AoC undermined my confidence in a big way by removing itself from the BotW canon half-way through.

Even putting aside my hatred for bad/bitter endings, we already knew how AoC would need to end in order to tie in with BotW. It would be absurdly BORING to just connect with canon. But I got exactly the storyline I was craving the entire way I played Botw: A fun adventure with Zelda and the Champions to save the world before it gets destroyed. (And, you know, with music) I do think it was more of a consequence of other decisions, but they must have had in mind that aspect of creating expectations for an adventure that the player isn't actually playing.
I just wanna say that your approach to forecasting for future Nintendo directs is so much better than those clickbaity prediction videos so many other RUclipsrs make.

I’m just hoping for a Woolly World port. There’s no definitive way to play the game since the Wii U version doesn’t have the 3DS content, but the 3DS version’s graphics aren’t anywhere near as good as the Wii U version. Imo woolly world deserves a port more than DKCR since there’s already an amazing DK game on switch, while yoshi is stuck with Crafted World as the only yoshi game on switch. A Bomberman collection would also be really nice to see, since Konami put out a survey asking about previous Bomberman games, plus they could really add a ton of value to the collection since Hudson Soft made a whole bunch of Bomberman games in the 90s
Finally someone acknowlegdes this game. Nobody ever talks about it but it is extremely good and highly underrated. It would be a perfect game to bridge the gap to the switch 2: It's already done, just needs porting, it gives yoshi a second game on switch which is also way better than Crafted World, not a lot of people played the original and its easy money.

Agree, Woolly World was developed with WiiU-level graphics in mind to bring its game feel to life through the detailed wool textures and interactions.
At this point I wouldn‘t mind a cross-gen remaster with Switch 2, but either way a port is long overdue. The visuals basically market themselves.

There is no real gap. I think we are so used to Nintendo's releases that we make it law.
For example they could just be DQ1&2 space to do well because their obviously isn't a game bigger than that or Brothership. Secondly their really big games are now put out in Oct. Yes Mario Party is a bigger game(deal) than Brothership.
Lastly Nintendo doesn't usually reveal new games in the same season for September directs unless it's a shadow drop.

Honestly, I feel like the remaining WiiU games yet to be ported are actually more likely to get more substantial remasters on the successor (potentially late into that console's cycle ala LM2HD) than to find any life on the original Switch, since WiiU re-releases effectively grinded to a halt after year 2.
Pretty much every remaining candidate is also known for having some of that system's best visuals, so I think just porting them to a system similar enough to the WiiU in power might be a bit of a waste when they could inject even more detail into them on a far stronger console, and possibly even push one as a graphical showcase for the successor system.
_Nintendo Land_ and _Mario Party 10_ come to mind when it comes to Nintendo Wii U video games that never got an enhanced port on the current Nintendo Switch yet should be enhanced ported - or even get full-on remastered - for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, as they require a second screen as they utilized the GamePad *_heavily_* on the Nintendo Wii U. Meanwhile, _Yoshi's Woolly World_ didn't utilize the GamePad nearly as much there if I recall correctly here; so an enhanced port to the existing Nintendo Switch can - and should - happen there. *[THIS IS AN IMPORTANT NOTE: There are rumours that the successor to the Nintendo Switch is going to utilize a second screen in some way; that's the main reason why I think here that **_Nintendo Land_** and **_Mario Party 10_** should wait for the successor to the Nintendo Switch to come out onto the market before they get any enhanced ports or full-on remasters.]*
I think the next direct will either be a mini or a partner showcase. If anyones noticed, their socials clarify that announcements "will not" have informstion of the successor. It stands to reason that it seems probable they'll give us a 30-45 sec teaser at the very beginning, then ask everyone to wait a little longer for more information (either in October or in January) just to hold people over.
Nintendo is very aware people are eagerly waiting hence the disclaimer tweets.

Thank you and I hope so. It was actually part of the plan for the channel from day 1 but it's taken a while to grow to the point where it's possible.
Xenoblade Warriors has made me a believer because there is a blank spot in the current Xenoblade timeline that it makes perfect sense to slot into. The newer warriors games attempt to slot the games in as what if scenarios or canon sequels working with existing canon. And it just so happens that there's a perfect timeline spot to place the game that'd allow for playable characters from all three numbered entries. That is, after Xenoblade 1 and 2, But before Future Redeemed. There are a LOT of unresolved mysteries and vagueness in that timeline spot. I believe this was left over deliberately to be filled by a spin off. Takahashi and Monolith are very conscious of their story, and aren't one to get sloppy. There should be something revealed about that time period. The Xenoblade 3 setting also perfectly suits a warriors game. Xenoblade 3 is basically entirely about large scale wars. It's also worth noting that 2025 is the series 15th anniversary. So having a spin off game that allows you to play as characters from all three main timeline games would be fan-service of the highest order.

Depends on when it's releasing/entering manufacturing. If it's March-June next year, then they might have to in order to avoid manufacturing leaks spoiling the reveal.
I'm in 2 minds whether they'd want to reveal earlier; in order to let it pass from the conversation prior to the holiday sales window, or as late as possible (ie. Mid-december), to mitigate the sales impact by doing it after those holiday sales are made.
They could potentially reveal it and then announce a Switch price drop or a mega holiday bundle to push sales through the end of the year.

With the Uprising style of rail shooter/third person shooter it’s not an oversaturated genre on Nintendo consoles and Uprising did well enough to establish a small fan base like me that almost rivals that of Metroid or Fire Emblem, and pretty much meets that of Xenoblade.

I'm guessing you're likely to have very little correlation between our guesses and what really happens, except for the items that you bias our answers on. We just don't have the same scope of information or awareness as you, and without that, the crowd is going to be speaking to desire more than to pattern or trend.

However, 37:20 I have to strongly disagree, my personal forecast is a 90% chance we won't get any core series Pokémon games on NSO for the next decade if not longer. Whilst Pokémon is partially owned by Nintendo, Gamefreak wears the pants in the relationship (TPCI is owned by Gamefreak) and dictates all the major stuff Pokémon wise. For the sake of brevity I won't go into full ownership detail but I will recommend Lewtwo for a great explanation into the workings of the business behind Pokémon.
Nintendo would have to ask Gamefreak for permission to put Pokémon games on NSO, and I don't think they'd oblige considering the Pokémon VC games on 3DS were the best sellers on the eshop, with RBGY alone selling over 1.5 million in two months. Again for brevity I won't try to calculate the complete core series VC sales but all of them (RGBY, GSC,) sold incredibly well and made Gamefreak millions off of simple ports. Gamefreak is far more likely to do "Virtual Console" style rereleases of core series Pokémon similar to how Nintendo did Mario All stars or Capcom the various Mega Man collections. It'd make them far more money and better serve their "values" (Pokémon HOME compatability, no same region competition [Kanto exists on the switch with LG]).
TLDR: Gamefreak owns Pokémon for the most part and is the main deciding head. They wouldn't want to put the games on NSO because they could make far more money doing virtual console style rereleases. The 3DS VC sales are evident of how big a return on investment they can make from simple ports of their old games. Soz for wall of txt.

As an aside - My brain immediately went to Pokemon Warriors when you suggested 'what else is there?' for a new Nintendo Warriors game and... I doubt that would ever happen but it would be hilarious (and it wouldn't be the first time a Pokemon spinoff was in a more 'serious' military focused franchise - Pokemon Conquest is a Nobunaga's Ambition game, after all)
Actually, you're right. I keep meaning to do a video on warriors spin-off potential and I've always thought Pokemon would make sense. But now there is a Poke-shaped gap and perhaps a studio that would be ideal for it. Clearly it's unlikely in the scheme of things but among all the long-shot calls, this is a really decent one.

I think 3D Super Mario is more likely to show up before Mario Kart 10. For one thing, it’s still something dedicated Nintendo fans are STARVING for, so it’s better for early hype, as the Zelda games were. Mario Kart at least got DLC recently
I do think Kirby and Splatoon are two titles that should not be dismissed as options, but Kirby might just have something relatively small for Switch, not the successor.

What about a Warioland remake or collection? It might be a bit late in the NSO drip feed of past system games though, because Warioland games could just show up in those. And honestly, at this point I think they just like WarioWare way more and might not see room for a platformer at this time. I don't think we're getting a general direct until after the reveal of the new system (working on the assumption that it comes out Q1 25/26, so will be revealed Q3 and detailed in Q4).
If there's anything beforehand, it'll be a mini, a partner showcase, or a pokemon presentation. I think at this stage, most of what they're working on is for the successor and they won't want to show it before its titled. (I think the pre-announced games used in the reveal will be MP4 and Pokemon Z/A.)
I hope I'm wrong; but I think we're entering a bit of an information drought before the flood gates open early next year.
I think it's odd that Pokemon Warriors and Kirby Warriors are never in the conversation. Given the wide variety of Pokemon out there and the fact The Pokemon Company has worked with Koei Tecmo before, as well as the strength of the Pokemon IP, the former could be huge. And then Kirby's action-platformer design could lend itself well to a Warriors game with a more restricted cast, with Kirby's abilities making up for there being less unique-in-appearance characters.
I also think cross-gen is important to consider for possibilities like a Kid Icarus Uprising remaster. Positioning older games as both ways to keep Switch 1 owners busy with releases and means of reviving old IPs to the fledgling audience on the new system (capturing more interest early on) would be smart, I think.
Oh, and one idea I've had regarding the future of Mario sports games is that Nintendo will shift development of Mario Golf over to Clap Hanz so that Camelot has more time to flesh out Mario Tennis and potentially tackle other projects. Now that Clap Hanz has essentially broken ties with Sony, approaching the developer who took over for Camelot on the Everybody's Golf series (which I believe plays much like Mario Golf) seems like a good call, especially with Camelot seemingly being strained somewhat by their relatively small size.
On the one hand, I feel like Nintendo aren't the type of company who'd do somethibg as bold as to leave Mario Golf to a new company when they have a good working relationship with Camelot and probably feel they are satisfactory for their needs...
But MAN would I like to live in the world where they DO let Camelot rest a little from the Mario Sports titles, so I'm gonna hope you're right anyway.
@@goranisacson2502 It's hard to say, but I imagine they want to be increasingly strategic about trying to ensure quality and quantity, and that means seeking out more partners to work with. Camelot did a solid job with Mario Tennis Aces, but Mario Golf had a much more tepid reception (and I'd say some things feel downright unpolished - the Speed Golf jumping physics on All-Star Summit with the clouds are probably the worst-feeling thing I've ever experienced in a Mario game), and their focus on Mario sports games has kept them from revisiting Golden Sun or exploring new opportunities. Bringing on a developer fully specializing in golf games so that Camelot can have more flexibility might be the right call, though apparently Clap Hanz is even smaller than Camelot

GGs! Great results, all things considered. I’ll admit that I don’t really care about the forecasting so much, but it’s a great gimmick and rather gamifies the forecasting in a cool way.
Are you planning on analyzing the wisdom of crowds survey via mean, median, or mode? And if mean, arithmetic mean or geometric mean?
Arithmetic mean probably but it depends to some degree on the sample size and whether any results are particularly noteworthy. I'm looking for results that feel descriptive of the audience response so I'm not necessarily committing to only using a particular approach. My bigger issue is that the scale runs from 10% to 90% which arbitrarily suppresses likelihoods in the very high and very low range. Off the top of my head I'm inclined to do something like (x-10)*0.8 for each submission, find the arithmetic mean and round to the nearest one of my five categories.
Okay for Next Week's or September's Nintendo Direct I don't think we could get anything for Switch 2 in September well except for the games that they could reveal like 3D Mario, the next new Mario Kart if it's called Mario Kart 9 or X, the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a new Star Fox game, and a new Donkey Kong Game but there are some remakes and remasters from the 3DS and GameCube that I would do like and hope and have a chance to be on Switch before we move on to Switch 2. Like for the 3DS they could reveal full-on remakes of both Kirby Triple Deluxe and Kirby Planet Robobot as well as having new side modes for both Taranza and Susie just like how they did with Magolor in Magolor Epilogue like for Taranza his side story would be him trying to find Queen Sectonia after Kirby defeated her and for Susie's side story she would be her trying to find her Father President Haltmann or Kirby's Robobot Suit after Kirby destroyed Star Dream but I think Susie should find Kirby's Robobot Armor Suit because it was sad when the suit let Kirby go and then it cried which was so sad so I think it would be nice of Susie to give Kirby his Robobot Armor Suit back which that would be so nice of her to do that for Kirby. And maybe we could see a remake of Kirby Air Ride cause then we would have new Kirby Characters in the roster. Also, they can bring back these three Kirby characters from Kirby Right Back At Ya to the series which are Tiff, Tuff, and Escargoon since Kirby Air Ride is part of Kirby Right Back At Ya which makes sense so yeah.
And finally giving us Tomodachi Life with the Mii Maker Editor Editor from Miitopia and adding it to Tomodachi Life and also having online as well. And for GameCube they can give us a remake of Star Fox Assault and giving us online mode for VS Mode in Assault and also maybe giving us a remake of Luigi's Mansion 1 or any of the GameCube Mario Party Games. But they can also reveal the new leaked 2D Kirby Game called Kirby and the Celestial Stars which could be after Kirby Star Allies or after Kirby and the Forgotten Land or after any of the two 3DS Kirby Games but I don't know if they're gonna do it but I'm still concerned about the new female Kirby Character that looks related to Susie Haltmann which is Polly cause if they add her in the Kirby series but I feel bad for what the internet is gonna do to her but I hope the new 2D Kirby game goes good. But I know BoTalksGames did talk about the new rumor 2D Kirby Game leak which it does look well made fake leak for a new 2D Kirby game which I agree with him which it does look fake but we'll see what happens for what HAL is gonna do for Kirby when they're still working on the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land for Switch 2. So I do hope we do get another General Nintendo Direct or Partner or Mini in Next Week or September's Nintendo Direct before we move on to Switch 2.

There won’t be another Nintendo Direct this year, unless the Switch successor’s reveal gets the Direct branding. The June direct will get us through to early next year, and the Switch will wind down after that.
We'll I doubt Metroid Prime 4 will be there, so unless they have either a HD Remaster of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes or a HD port of Metroid Samus Returns with Fusion mode and all the other Amiibo blocked content unlockable without the need for Amiibos, I'm not expecting any Metroid new there.
Think this direct will mostly be about remakes and remasters along with a few lower ranking 3d party games. Personally I'd like to see a remake of one of the gamecube Star Fox games.

So here’s a question for you, having just done your survey, how likely do you think it is that DK64 will be the title that shadow drops onto NSO? I ask as, now idk if you have seen this very recent announcement, the DK64 soundtrack is getting a remaster. I would think this would be the time to capitalize on DK64 dropping to NSO as a means of riding the hype train for when the remaster soundtrack launches in November, which would be the 25th anniversary of DK64. It would make sense imo for them to have been holding off on DK64 for such an occasion as this, otherwise I would truly fail to see why Nintendo has been evading dropping this title to NSO
Interesting idea. I mean, there can't be very many N64 games of real note left to drop so it would make sense as a lead-in to DKCR. I don't know they're bothered about its 25th anniversary. I guess if there's an N64 shadow drop, I'd go to 50%. The fact that they've held on to both this and Diddy makes me wonder if they have a bigger plan in place. But if they do have something bigger, DKCR HD is an odd centrepiece.
@@nintendoforecast given Nintendo’s current pattern of dropping an N64 update every other month, December 2023, February, April, and June having been the months in which they gave N64 an update thus far, I would be willing to at least bump that to a 70%. Tbh I’m just not sure what that bigger plan would be, considering exactly as you said with Nintendo’s weird decision to make DKCR HD being that potential centerpiece. The theme park expansion from what I understand is themed nearly entirely off DKCR’s content, and so DK64 and DKR would kinda feel out of place and serve somewhat contradictory to the marketing I’d think they’d want to do for DKCR HD given the park expansion’s theming revolves around it. now, coinciding DK64’s drop to NSO to a soundtrack remaster with Grant Kirkhope returning to compose it seems like it would make natural sense, and given how recent the announcement is, Nintendo would have to be foolish, at least imo, to wait on anything else. This is the window, DK64 hype is now hitting a high not seen in a while and would certainly serve Nintendo beneficially to shadow drop now to capitalize on the hype and see a substantive increase to their NSO sub count.

Hi, love watching the videos. One question though. Could you please explain why an animal crossing golf game would "certainly" help to sell more consoles. Surely, it would only appeal to people who have played animal crossing or mario golf? Nobody finally decides to buy a switch after all this time because of animal crossing golf. Thank you.
Excellent question - I was thinking as I was editing that I should have expanded on this. My thinking was (a) special edition AC Switches would get an uplift (b) ACNH is nearly five years old so it could appeal afresh to fans too young to play in 2020, (c) if it had the same one course/one console mechanic as ACNH's one island/one console mechanic, it would softly pressure people to pick up a secondary console for family members and (d) lapsed ACNH players might upgrade to the Oled. All subtle stuff but I think it would move the needle more than most games they could release at this point.
@@nintendoforecast Good points, I think D is very strong. I could definitely see someone who was very into ACNH back in 2020 getting back into the Switch through the a new spin-off game and thus also picking up an OLED model.
I can't wrap my head around the concept of using ranges (10%, 30%...) to quantify an event that will either happen (100%) or not happen (0%). How do you measure if the likelihood was accurate?
you measure it against all previous 30%’s and get a percentage. to check for accuracy the percentage is based on multiple 30% predictions instead of just one. for example at the end of the video the previous 30%’s should be correct 30% of the time and incorrect 70% of the time. in practice, when making a single prediction, these percentages are basically a shorthand for a confidence level.

Same; I always want more Pikmin and Xenoblade, but both saw far too much support in 2022-2023 for there to be any higher than a 10% chance of there presence.

I don't think a TotK Hyrule Warriors make sense.
The reason Age of Calamity made sense is that BotW crafted a compelling backstory with not only a fair few interesting characters that are dead in the present time of BotW, but also, both Link AND Zelda exist in that past timeline to act as the main characters.
Nintendo messed up with the Champions. Those characters were much more interesting than anyone in the present era and got a lot of focus on the marketing despite not actually being part of the story for the most part. I`m sure I was not the only one expecting a story similar to what Age of Calamity covers (time travel aside) as the story of BotW. It set expectations only to constantly fail the player.
Personally the story throwing away such a good foundation and sticking to a non-plot full of flashbacks is BotW`s biggest flaw.
And I think Nintendo at least agreed that its a problem. TotK puts way more focus on the present-time sages and goes severely out of its way to make the past Sages uninteresting and generic. They don`t even have names nor show their faces and we basically know nothing about them besides how the Gerudo sage is at odds with the big Dorf.
In other words, they did their best to make a past storyline around the Imprisioning War not feel compelling, neither in its setting nor in its characters, which they unintentioanlly ended up doing for the struggle against Calamity Ganon in BotW`s past segments.
If anything, a Hyrule Warriors 2 following off of the original game with another mix of timelines and worlds with original Triforce Trios (if not an actual sequel to that first game) makes more sense. I`d sooner bet on that or a new franchise warriors (Xenoblade) than a TotK Warriors.
Imprisioning War (TOTK) should’ve been saved for switch 2 because of how poorly performance for the switch 1 hardware too. I still want a mushroom kingdom warriors full of Mario characters to make things interesting for the Nintendo warriors series to expand beyond JRPGs and action adventure.
I suspect a lot of this is from the way Nintendo does the story as an afterthought. Whereas the Warriors games seem to mix (1) what assets can be reused with (2) what's the most fanservicey story? I'd love a proper story in the post-TotK world but AoC undermined my confidence in a big way by removing itself from the BotW canon half-way through.
@@nintendoforecast I understand when people bring up this grievance with AoC, but personally that's the best way they could have handled. Even putting aside my hatred for bad/bitter endings, we already knew how AoC would need to end in order to tie in with BotW. It would be absurdly BORING to just connect with canon.
But I got exactly the storyline I was craving the entire way I played Botw: A fun adventure with Zelda and the Champions to save the world before it gets destroyed. (And, you know, with music)
I do think it was more of a consequence of other decisions, but they must have had in mind that aspect of creating expectations for an adventure that the player isn't actually playing.
