I had the pleasure of meeting Betsy Palmer when she stayed at the Lenox Hotel in Boston back in 1984. I was working there at the time and I must say she was as lovely off screen as on screen. Sweet smile, very friendly, extremely interested in everyone she spoke to. May she rest in peace.
betsy came to my register with her groceries back in the 70's. she was beautiful inside and out.
Inside and out? You got to see her insides? Lucky you!!!
I am so heartbroken to hear of Betsy Palmer's passing. She was the quintessential girl-next-door of the 50's; so lovely and sweet.
R.I.P. Betsy. Say hi to Bill, Bess, Henry and the rest of the IGAS gang for me
That image was probably the reason she was cast in Friday the 13th. Casting against type
I love how Henry and Bill immediately go to "help" her, lol.
Kate8790 And not the female
@@rickrick5041 she was too busy laughing at the “wardrobe malfunction”
And suddenly her dress becomes unzipped as well as her top.
this is so funny. I love them and how they all seemed like such great friends. and when henry holds up the safety pin and says "i have to tell you something" and everyone starts laughing is the best!
Betsy was a local girl from here in Northwest Indiana and we were certainly proud of her. As a young kid in the late 50s and early 60s I knew even then she was a babe.
Betsy Palmer and Bess Myerson: a classic blonde beauty and a classic brunette beauty. With or without safety pins.
After watching Betsy Palmer on several episodes of this show that have been uploaded to RUclips (Thank you uploaders), I've fallen in love with Betsy Palmer. She is such a sweetheart. I wish she'd made more movies, and I'm tracking down the ones she did make.
This brings back memories. It's like seeing an old friend. Life was so much better then.
May Betsy Palmer never be forgotten. R. I. P.
:(
may she rest in peace thanks for sharing your talent with us
Bill Cullen is a good looking man. I love his smile.
Watching Betsy Palmer now in "Mister Roberts". What a beauty!
Oh, that's hilarious! They were on LIVE (I don't think tape quite yet) and what else are you going to do?
The chemistry on the classic "I've Got A Secret"s with Bill Cullen, Betsy and Henry Morgan was outstanding. The long running CBS game shows (I've Got A Secret, What's My Line and To Tell The Truth") were--and are--such a joy to watch.
The charm was the PEOPLE and not anything else. Goodman-Todman were geniuses.
The "joy" of live TV!
R.I.P. Betsy.
Women back then were so delightful.
Excuse you!
@@Gravydog316 Those women were so genteel. Instead of saying fart, they said poot.
again, pardon you! a real woman doesn't do that disgustingness ewwww @@knottreel
@@Gravydog316 The internet is full of bawdy comment of which mine was the most innocuous. Why the ado? Do you consider yourself a social justice warrior?
No. I'm a realist. You've been around too many Republicans @@knottreel
People weren't all hung up like today. We are going backwards.
Thank you.
R.I.P. Betsy Palmer. :(
I clearly remember Betsy Palmer on IGAS. She was lovely to look at, and a "girl-next-door " type, similar to Doris Day. My personal favorite of all the panelists on that show, with Bess Myerson a close second. I'm saddened that she passed away a few years ago, as well as Bess Myerson, the first Jewish Miss America. May they R.I.P.
In loving memory
Wonder how many people today know what a party line is..
There were several homes on our party line where I grew up. If you had told us that we would live to see individual family members, each with a phone they could carry around in their pocket, we would have said you were crazy.
And she was a Broadway actress also. As of 1962, she was in South Pacific, as Nelly Forebush.
On one show SHE had the secret! The secret...she was going to get her beautiful hair cut...on stage to ready herself for her role in "South Pacific".. Several months later I saw that musical at the Playhouse in Coral Gables, Miami. What a treat! A great memory!!😎😉
At 3:28 Bill Cullen got clocked in the nose by Betsy’s right elbow. He shook it right off!!!
I am just discovering this program on Buzzr. Betsy was the best on there in my opinion. I know she is missed by a lot of people. especially her only daughter. Who is a year older than I am.
Betsy Palmer really was an accomplished panelist/actress. I have discovered this program god...like nearly 13 years ago back on the old GSN. These black and white panel shows for the most part were fun to watch. Though, strangely of the I've got a secret black and white run, I actually enjoy the Steve Allen hosted shows a little bit more.
They don't show them on BUZZR. If it was sponsored by a cigarette company I know they can't show those old commercials. The FCC banned all cigarette adds in 1971. On television.
I'm Mrs. Voorhees an old friend of the Christy's
Lmao!!
Just saw that Betsy Palmer has passed away on Friday, May 29 at the age of 88
RayNDeere Oh crap. She was wonderful.
Kinda of funny she died on a Friday , since she was in Friday the 13th
@@kellylynneden1977 Its not funny :(
Poor Betsy!
rest in peace betsy
0: 54 - 1:10 I can see Henry Morgan saying to the audience, "This is gonna be a long night, folks! I hope you brought along your pillows, your blankets, your alarm clock, your children, and your children's sitter!"
that’s a real good one! 😋 thanks :)🌷🌼
rip miss vorhees
I was born in 78. What is a telephone phone party? Haha
They just announced the passing of Bess Myerson...
not sure what that one panelest said when it was ask if it had anything to do with the husband..and when they said no..i think she said..THANK GOODNESS..lol
So - The Wardrobe malfunction is nothing new! These slips (no pun intended) helped give the golden age of television it's life. Well - that and the fact that they actually cared more about being creative and entertaining viewers.
She's probably wearing more under that dress than half the people I saw in Walmart today lol
And I know these ladies. Wonderful people
At the beginning, when all three women said that they were Helen Lutz(?); I thought that this clip was from To Tell The Truth, and that the video was misnamed!
At least she lost her dress, not her head or anything.
@tallpaul521 I learned that in the tryouts for the stage version of MR. ROBERTS, the nurse was played by Eva Marie Saint. By the time it reached Broadway, she was deemed "too pretty to be believable" in the part, so she was replaced by Marlon Brando's sister Jocelyn. Ironically, Eva Marie Saint would win an Oscar acting with Marlon in ON THE WATERFRONT.
friday the 13th! (betsy did it because she needed a new car at the time)
@tallpaul521 Henry Fonda found the making of the movie painful to him, because he felt its director, John Ford, didn't understand the material. Ford thought it wasn't "macho" enough for a war movie. Things got so bad between the two that the producers ended up firing Ford and replacing him with Mervyn LeRoy.
@tomservo56954 Wonderful information. Never knew that Marlon had an actress sister. Palmer was perfect for the nurse in "Mr. Roberts". What a great film. Henry Fonda said that he couldn't wait to get on stage each night to be Mr. Roberts -- one of his favorite roles.
These same three women were on again with Steve Allen when the To Tell the Truth panel was on this show
And if she had, gee, what a thrill for the viewing public.
@tomservo56954 Forgot the other, major Fonda/Brando connection....Mrs. Brando (Marlon and Jocelyn's mom) directed Henry in amateur theatricals back in their home town of Omaha. That inspired him to give up a secure job and take a try at acting as a career.
Betsy Palmer was so great as the brassy blonde nurse in Mr. Roberts.
Is there any way to see the other segments from this episode? My grandfather was in the segment about the Arkansas diamond mine and I haven’t been able to find it anywhere 🙏
My sister-in-law's Three sons all married a girl name Donna
Old (late 1950s) I've Got A Secret episode (TV, with Gary Moore).
Three women are on the stage, seated.
All have the exact same name; same church membership; each one has two kids; all three are married to a father.
Secret? They all share the same telephone "party line."
Obsolete technology - can't happen again?
No. In 2013, all three are on the NSA telephone party line.
Newman,I'll is like 10 miles from where I live in tuscola,il
Betsy Palmer was a Beautiful woman and carried her self like a lady .
Hold on...if I'm correct, these three ladies returned on I've Got A Secret about 5-6 years later when Steve Allen took over.
Correct, the “To Tell The Truth” panel was on that night.
This one. ruclips.net/video/iZ7HFXMXIpg/видео.html
Was Betsy Palmer Jason's mother in Friday the 13 th. I don't know this panel. I've never seen any of them before, but she looks awfully familiar.
I was born in 1982 so when I saw the first Friday the 13th I just saw it as an older actress playing a part. Now I get why it was so amusing to have a fluffy game show panelist playing a horror movie villain.
@tomservo56954 Fonda and Ford actually came to blows. One of them punched the other in the mouth -- can't remember who did the punching. This past 9-11, TCM had some of the first responders to the World Trade Center serve as guest programmers to choose the films for that day. One of the responders chose Mr. Roberts.
@AmosPressley I admit to nothing!
@GameShowFanMan What was their secret then?
@tomservo56954 It was the exact same secret but then again, it was the episode where the panel of To Tell The Truth switched places with the panel of I've Got A Secret.

Mrs. Voorhees before she worked at Crystal Lake
I do recall something about 3 women all called "Helen Luth [sp]", but this seems a little early (1960).
They were there two times. I know these lovely ladies.
And to imagine that future generations would come to know her decades later in a much different light.
That might be the original TV wardrobe malfunction.
first recorded case of a “wardrobe malfunction”?
Mrs. Voorhees
Palmer must be a smoker...because her voice got lower as the years went by (like the late Lucille Ball).
Everyone smoked then :(
Stop! she just has a dark voice and thats okay stop hating her for this
Let her fucking rest
@@Stefanie.schild
Palmer appeared in a game show back in the early 60s. Not only would she give Marilyn Monroe a run for her money in the good looks department, but her voice sounded much higher. It was the same with the late Lucille Ball from the 1940s through maybe 1960...her voice was high....but from "Post Lucy & Desi" her voice gradually got lower and raspy and she was a smoker.
@@Stefanie.schild
Wondering is not the same as hating, so relax.
Well that was a cluster frigg.
well its different then losing her head
Bro..😭🤌
Garry Moore smoking on camera. :-(
These shows were not "live tv".
Mrs. Voorhees lost her sense of humor through the years.
#MeToo? 3:05-3:45? Lol.
"Almost" doesn't count!
So Betsy ruined these ladies appearances on TV
RIP Betsy.
