@@flyingchimp12 listen to her story about how she accepted the role, and told the director what a piece of shit the script was, only to later become quite fond of it.
@@flyingchimp12 - It shouldn’t have been controversial, but it was. Betsy went through hell for accepting the role on Friday the 13th. Siskel and Ebert (movie critics at the time) even gave out her home address so people could write and criticize her. I couldn’t stand those two, and they usually rated movies inaccurately.
Apparently she thought it was a throwaway role for some spending cash, but it defined her career. Unfortunately, because she did television and theater.
@@flyingchimp12 Because it was so different than her squeaky clean cheerful personality, she was best known for panel shows, playing maternal roles and being somewhat ditzy. It was like casting Harriet Nelson as Norman Bates' mother.
@@ccbsnyc lol too young to know Harriet I did watch psycho however. Wasn’t Norman bates his own mother? I mean he had a mom but you never saw her alive. Nowadays it’s not controversial for any actor to star in a gory film, guess it’s just a difference in the times.
Betsy was funny as hell !
“I’ve never done anything that’s controversial.” 12 years later...
How’s that controversial?
@@flyingchimp12 Friday the 13th is considered very controversial for the amount of explicit on-screen violence and gore.
@@SAPProd ahhh normal now I guess

@@flyingchimp12 Harriet Nelson was the mother in Ozzie and Harriet. I should have said June Cleaver.
Betsy is and was a wonderful actress!
I wonder if Soupey thought of Ellen Byrnstein when guessing Betsy
R.I.P Betsy Palmer.
Betsy Palmer was gorgeous
The mattress tester was so cute. And his voice was really sexy.
Looks like Marilyn Monroe a bit.

Aired August 15th, 1968.
Taped October 26th, 1972.
Doesn't sound 68 sounds 84-now
@@galaxypixelsapprihez2300 I later checked and it was indeed taped in October of 1972. What's My Line stopped airing in I think 1975.
