Hearing you narrate those arena fights is really relaxing, I'm always way too tense when I'm playing this game and I like how you calmly assess and react to everything that's going on without any stress.

Great vid! Man I hope this vid gets people more interested in bowguns, people are usually discouraged in trying bowguns cause of all the ammos and mods but honestly it's not that difficult as it may seem and a real help in team play as well definitely worth trying
Honestly that's not what keeps me from using it. It's just too simple. You shoot you Dodge you change ammo or reload... and repeat.
I'd rather just use the charge blade or switchaxe because there's more going on with the kit.
I know HBG is insane in terms of DPS potential (just look at the TA wiki) it's just not as fun to me. Neither are the dual blades because those are kind of the same thing over and over too.

Even MR endgame I use wyvernheart a lot. Clutch a monster to soften it, knock it down to make it easy to hit the same spots an then open fire to do massive damage with the wyverenheart type 2 mod

Would recommend adding the special scope instead of the 3rd close range up, it makes your special ammo do so much more damage
not realy. you lose between 50 to 100 pinots in cloes quater dmg. the special scope does not push the dmg of the special ammo so high that you would benefit from that.
Worth noting that the Deadeye is a really good HBG to have built since it branches into Zinogre. So even in later game, you'd probably want to have it built anyway.

Andrew McGlame I’m an old vet, but my lil bro deleted my main save for his main character. Sadly :( 300 hours through the drain took a break from it afterward now playing through the game again, I’m currently hunting Nergi defender heavy bowgun seems a little lack luster, but I’m new to HBG’s so any tips are welcome hence why I’m watching this XD

Andrew McGlame I’ll def take a look at him, i am looking for a management heavy weapon so I like HBG, for the wide variety of useable weapons, same reason I like dual blades

Thank you for putting this together. I am looking at sticky (KO) as how I want to blast through the story for IB PC release and this helps a ton.
How would you progress through the story focusing on Artillery 3? Anja -> Narga -> Velk (claw meme?) -> Zora?
And why did you lean out of the A3 charm? too expensive to build? or are you looking for sleeps to contribute the extra damage?
after actually going through the IB story on PC I can now say that Sticky 3 is the way to go.
Its pure suffering until you get to Narga, but the Narga LBG plus the set bonus will carry you through to Garuga no problem. Diablos chest and Artian gloves are available in 3* and with the narga 3pc will easily clear the story for you.
with LBGs that can Sticky3 with evade reload I don't see a reason to do a HBG for sticky till Zora at MR50; unless you prefer the play style. Either way enjoy the grind.
It's crazy how decent glutton is through MR. But the best plan is to do like I did and use melee weapons until endgame then switch back to gunning.
meximous my buddy used his HR armor all the way to final boss and I just watched him get one shot by the giant skinned cat. It was pretty funny.
Going to use this build to get through the rest of the story been stuck at the namile fight for awhile now and I believe it's time I switch to a hbg
I'm a light bowgun player (almost through iceborne, using bazelcore lbg) and I don't like hbg, but the build that are possible are so wild. I do have the second upgrade to the brute tigrex hbg and I like the spread ammo build on that, feels so good. I know the sticky ammo isn't the worst but thats not my kind of play with heavy bowguns. I like sticky with light bowguns.

This is definetly a good buil but if you want to replace the deadeye destoyrer go for the cartiledge cannon

I'm a bit confused on your food choice. So any reason not just get atk/def up L or at least 1 M? It doesn't matter, just a question. I always try to go for a stat up L or at least M, but I don't know if it even helps out that much. Never tested against it lol
Anyone whose interested in this build I would recommend you drop sleep attack and just add any other survivable stuff or attack decorations you have in my own testing I found that sleep attack only saves you 1 less bullet to put the monster to sleep idk if it was like this in base game or sleep attack was secretly nerfed but it's not worth the space.
TLDr: in terms of wyvernscope it's not scene much but wyvernheart special ammo is definitely being used in end game it can do some pretty nasty damage.

@@Qballiz2kool nah that new sticky/clusters setup is so good and way more fun than the old clusters. Granted in multiplayer I'm gonna be barely using my clusters unless I see an opening on a big enough monster where I don't boop anybody. So maybe that's why you don't see it. Hbg mains are too polite.
meximous Lol exactly, unlike longsword and lance....especially lance, was in a guiding lands and almost got killed because the lance user decided “oh I’m gonna charge and knock into this harmless spread HBG user who needs to block with their shield, tripping him, making him drop his guard and almost get him killed....FoR ThE LoL’s”. I know I'm watching it quite late, but would that build work for spread as I like using spread but not sure how it will follow in iceborn as I recently started fresh and want to know the way to go for spread gun.
You need to change your screen scroll/rotate speed to fast/very fast with HBG
ive been trying to exclusively gun through the ice borne story, and LBG has been ok but i feel like im missing somthing. beo can sleep bomb and rapid fire pierce from the narga lbg is fun but im still taking like 20-25 minutes to kill things and i think not having rocksteady, and not going for wall bangs enough is hurting me. overall great guide like a bob ross video

I used this for spread 3 for a while, till I branched out into trying pierce with the kedachi HBG

Hey unrelated question Is it still possible to Do the ancient leshen quest ? I’m over HR 70 and I did the quest to get geralt’s Armor but I don’t see it ancient leshen quest anywhere
Should be an event quest that rotates out like the others. I saw it a few weeks ago after having missed out on everything since the first Kulve Taroth siege event. You'll likely get to try it out in the next few weeks.

That's why I'm here, after getting my a** handed to be by the viper kadashy and barioth I knew something was off and many "tutorials" out there are just people using late game op bowguns
I thought I could cheeze my way like I did in hardmode but the game said "get good kid"
Tbh barioth in world is a huge douche no matter what so its kinda to be expected for him to give unprepared players a hard time
I had upgraded anja duals and still the fight went a lot longer than i expected.
That and missing some wall slams definitely didnt help lol

I'd really like to see an updated version of this video, one that talks baout the Defender gear and how that plays into early game. As a new player, it's all extremely confusing for me to figure out what I'm sposed to be going towards, when all the videos reference this gear that appearently is not as good for players in the early game? Very confused.
late answer, but this video is about early Iceborne. Not early MHW 'vanilla', Iceborne occurs after vanilla. So yes, the Defender Set, which was given to players to get into Iceborne quicker is good for vanilla, but that only.
The defender set is a heavy tank set which kinda "breaks" the early game for beginners, in a sense that you don't experience the difficulty of MHW (as you barely receive any damage) whilst, in the vanilla content -thus without the defender set-, you would get almost one-hit KO'ed by any monster until you build your first proper armor set and learn the monsters' movesets

Zurendren imo if your running rocksteady definitely 2 divine protection or speed eating because it’s a pretty handy skill to have, as far as if your using temporal maybe vitality if you can’t fit it into your build, and glider mantle any skills you need more of but can’t fit into your build like agitator etc.
Bgm is a little too loud. Def using this build tho.

Depends if you are at the beginning of the game in low rank or high or master as low doesn't have slots

You can literally shit on every monster until Kushala/Vaal/Teo with a Tzitzi sleep bombing build. Have the brain capacity of a squirrel? This is your build. Get fortify, at least sleep 3, artillery 3 and bombardier 3 (you can get bombardier 3 from the arena quests 1-7 "B" clear helmet reward). Gear: Tranq Charm II, Pulverizing Feather (nice to have vs Nergigante, not even remotely needed before him), Lumu Mail A, Baan Vambraces A, Jagras Coil A, Anja Greaves A. Relevant skills you end up with: Fortify, Bombardier III, Artillery 3, Sleep Attack 4. You also get Speed Eating 1 and Master Mounter, but its irrelevant imo. Bowgun mods: 2/3X close range up. If you really cant be f*d to use the claw mechanic this build is definitely for you. Make sure you die ASAP to get the fortify buff (1 death is more than enough). What you should prioritize for your farm: sleep herb, devil's blight, gunpowder materials (fire herb+nitroshroom) and dragonstrike nut in that order of priority. That's it, you really don't need anything else. If you have a ton of all of those materials you can farm for might seeds/demon drinks. Items you should bring to hunts: 10 sleep herbs, 5 dragonstrike nut, 5 large barrels, 5 gunpowder, 2 large barrel bombs, 2 mega barrel bombs, might seed (not needed). Ammo you should bring to hunts: Sleep 1, Sleep 2, Wyvern, Sticky 1 (for when you royally f*k up), Para 1, Para 2. Fight sequence: sleep 1 until they start falling asleep (!make sure to wyvern their face before they are fully asleep!), mega barrel bomb X2 behind them, !RELOAD ALL OF YOUR AMMO!, then wyvern and reload. During reloads you should craft all your ammo/bombs. If you REALLY want to break a certain part you can bomb that specific part but your reload can become more risky. Para 2 until they are paralyzed, switch to your special ammo and unload on their weak point(s). Sleep 1 + wyvern right before they are fully asleep, 2 mega barrel bombs (remember, always craft and reload all of your ammo when you have free time) and wyvern + reload. Sleep 1/2 + wyvern right before they fall asleep, 2X mega barrel bomb, wyvern and reload. Repeat the last step. That should be FOUR sleeps. Para 2/1, special ammo swap and unload on their weak point(s). They should be dead by now, if not they are at an extremely low HP percentage. Wyvern + mega barrel bomb it at its resting spot and that should be it. If somehow you managed to f*k up that badly, you can use stickies to finish the job. If stickies werent enough then well... smack it to death I guess XD. Make sure you keep at least 1 round of wyvern ammo for when the monster limps and goes to rest, dont randomly wyvern the monster too many times. Congratulations, you have officially made the game your b*tch with absolutely 0 knowledge of any monster. If you execute this strategy properly, any monster pre Nergigante should die within 5 minutes. This was actually my very first theorycrafted build as a newcomer to Monster Hunter. ^^
I don’t really feel the HBG
I was a LBG main and the HBG felt very awkward, but thanks to evade extender and some patience I'm loving it now

The Head Guy I know that feeling however I like doing challange runs and through the challange run I’m doing right now, HBG has become one of my favorite weapons of all time right next to Hunting Horn

What a lot of people do including myself is copy those speed runners with their spread ammo spam. This video gave a whole new perspective to HBG especially that's really useful to new users.

I know you like fortify but, kids .... Never cart. Use farcaster isntead.
Using farcaster doesn't boost your atk and def. Which is the point of running fortify.
