    Really one of the best videos . I’ve tried this trick to push back distortion on a kick and the lin algorithm have me the punch I was looking for . This is really powerful !

    Thanks! I did this and then tried a transient shaper for comparison. On the song I’m working on, cranking the attack on a transient shaper got me there quicker and more fully, but this was something I’ve never tried! Great vid!

    Question : is it ok to add parallel compression to an already compressed snare?
    Great video :)

    • @artkitectbeats1622
      @artkitectbeats1622 Год назад

      Yes. With Parallel compression, you are not putting a compressor directly on your drum bus, you are only incorporating some of the compressed signal into your drum bus. This is not the same as adding 2 compressors to the snare, if thats what worries you.

    Using a Transient shaper would make this easier? when to use compressor and when transient shaper?

    • @MichaelBCooper
      @MichaelBCooper 6 лет назад

      rodzeroher a transient shaper is a compressor with very limited parameters, it basically does everything he did for you.

    • @Catandbeats
      @Catandbeats 6 лет назад +1

      Transient shapers are not threshold dependent. So no matter what volume the source it will mess with the transient. I suggest using them on complex transient rich instruments or 'loops'
      Compressors are dependent on threshold so I suggest using it as your go to control for volume.
      In short, if you can't get your compressor to work use a transient shaper

    • @rodzeroher
      @rodzeroher 6 лет назад

      But I wonder when is better to use each one when the objective is to modify the envelopes, In this example the compressor threshold is very high to guarantee that the compressors always acts on the sound, so I imagine a transient shaper would be useful too.

    • @Catandbeats
      @Catandbeats 6 лет назад +3

      Here I did an A/B for you: ruclips.net/video/S4XpM5cns30/видео.html As you can hear they don't give the same result. The tail and attack are just not as 'smacky'. So, use a transient shaper when a compressor can't do the job ;). Cheers

    Why is it that no matter what I do, my drums peak at obscene levels? I want to be able to mix at a loud volume, but if I keep the mix at "optimal levels of -15db" or whatever.... When monitoring on speakers or headphones can't hear anything I'm working on . Anyone??

    I’ve done this with similar sounding snare and so all of these outputs sound similar… unfortunately my speakers were monitor quality so the snares were busted in the end 😂

    weird technique there. i dont tend to adjust the attack and release with the threshold that low, cos the release and attack times change with the threshold
