That was a fun ride! Have you ridden the Burke-Gilman? What's your favorite part? What do you think others should know about the trail?

Great memories from my rides in Seattle especially around the Lake Union area. My daughter lives in the Wallingford area and the last two years I flew up from San Diego and packed a bike to explore Seattle. Last year I wore my Hi-Viz Team Eliel kit. I rode around Lake Washington/Mercer Island/I90/Montlake back to her house. I also rode the 520 to Marymoor Park Velodrome, I use to race on the velodrome in San Diego and LA. My daughter and I rode RSVP in 2015. She has ridden STP a couple of times.

Video idea: ten hour loop of Brompton drive train noise to relax/study to

This is great. I ride this route often and there were places on North lake where the bumps almost caused me to lose the grip on my handlebars. The bumps are also very difficult to see with a mixture of sun and shadows on the trail.

Agreed. Bumps and Cracks in pavement can be quite dangerous. Seen too many people getting taken out by them 😢

That computer mount moving around all the time would drive me crazy

I ride this section pretty much every day, Magnuson to the Fremont Bridge. A lot of weekends I go north to Matthews Beach park on the cargo bike with the kid. She kinda misses the bumps 😆

It's great that there's an option like this for families. That's good! Those bumps probably do make the journey more fun for the little ones :P

I have a long history with the the BGT and SRT and ride the loop from Gasworks to Marymoor pretty regularly. The BGT repairs are very welcome. There is a section in Bothell that would benefit from similar repairs :-)
Love to see you continue to cover the continual improvements to the Puget Sound area cycling infrastructure!

I agree! I was so surprised when I went to some of the other trails in King County to discover their smoothness. You're welcome and you can count on it! Covering cycling infrastructure is always going to be on this channel.

Yes! I, and my butt, know exactly where you are talking about in Bothell.

Nice ride and comments, Hanock. The BGT is my first exposure to rails to trails. See you on the Emerald City ride tomorrow.

I take BGT for my Friday evening commute, because the drivers seem worse on Friday evenings. One thing I think is odd is how pedestrians get demoted to bicycle status at intersections, in not having right of way over cars. I think multi-use trails should get priority at intersections, except at really busy roads, where they should get those flashing pedestrian crossing lights.

I was out on the BGT on both Thursday and Friday. I had been in Asia for a few months and I really noticed the difference when I rode the BGT last month. The improvements to the BGT around Matthews Beach was much needed. They also re-paved a lot of the BGT between 145th and Matthews Beach too.
Sorry to see that the Counterbalance Bike Shop has closed.
The new bathrooms at Gasworks Park look great and a vast improvement to the old derelict one. I'll have to stop by and check them out.
I have lots of different "favourite places" on the BGT. Hey, maybe a video of riding Matthews Beach north around the lake on the BGT and then the Sammamish River Trail to Marymoor Park??

Why ride the Brompton ? Is it easier than your road bike? Or did you transport in a car?
