Hey, women know shoes... men know watches. Venus and Mars seem to come to mind.
What do you think of the Casio A-178?
Still plastic case. I wish they would have done it in stainless steel. I've been spoiled. My daily wear is the A1100D and I can't go back to plated plastic case on a watch like this. I would happily paid double the price. Nice review, thanks for sticking to what you do best.
In that case you should check the A1000
I'd love the 'gold' one in real gold. 😄
Or, more realistically, I too would pay double for a 'gold' covered stainless steel one.
Are you listening, Casio!
Yeah, I do feel that watch enthusiasts get to a point where they feel insecure about wearing plastic. And perhaps it's reasonable- why would you ever choose plastic over metal for a watch?? It's a cheap material, scratches easily, and doesn't look as nice as ANY metal does.
@dantepatel its really irrational since the same enthusiasts will wear rubber gshocks.
@@yusufbest4475 G Shock is a different vibe entirely. It's like an every day man's watch.
Love them! Been wearing them for more than a year. They're a total scratch magnets, but damn they look good and feel nice on the hand.
I have had a a163 casio for the past 4 years. The screen is scratched and the chrome paint started peeling off the case, revealing copper colored and then white resin. But this battleworn look gives it value in my opinion. Shows that it's used daily and a beater watch and still works. Cheers!
A jet black version of the A700WEV with the amber backlight would be so cool.
Glad I have resisted the urge to pick this up sooner. Now it's irresistible to me. 😁 Great review as always.
Literally the best Casio digital watch by far. Doesn't get the massive respect it deserves from anyone but you Ben.
Just ordered a gold one after a few weeks of dithering, in no small part thanks to this video!
I wished the gap between the bracelet and case was a bit smaller. But it's nothing you can really complain about at this price point 🤣
And maybe give us 100m WR in this retro design with countdown and interval timer too. But it is what it is.
The previous version was already so tempting, if only these had a chronograph that went beyond 1 hour they could easily be my everyday watch since I use that to measure work hours.
Nah, you should find a new, shorter job, pal. 😂
@@hndrwn My job's Ok, I just charge by the hour
@@hndrwn Nah, I charge by the hour

Which silver casios have +1 hour smartwatch?
Casio is GOD TIER
I have the original one...I bent the clasp but replaced the strap with an A159 bracelet...it looks great with it!
I do have an A700, but I much prefer the A1000 options (I have three of them with the A1000MG-9EF being my favourite) as well as my A1100. They cost a bit more, but if you are patient, you can pick them up at a 50% discount (like I did) - it's just a matter of keeping an eye out for the right sales...
My A700... I put on before I go to bed, because while I prefer to wear a wrist watch at night, I don't want to use my favourites for that with the build up of dead skin particles, sweat, lint and so on, that accumulates over time on a watch worn at night.
This is my favorite Integrated bracelet watch. Love it.
An update to the (all metal) A1000 would be very interesting…
I'm surprised there isn't a market for 'premium' Casio digitals like this one, made from 'premium' materials (steel, sapphire) and with a good bracelet.
This is an incredible watch that should only be purchased by men that have small wrists. Super thin, super light, super simple, super reliable, super comfortable, and super affordable. Just ordered the gold version to go with my silver version of this watch. The ONLY problem i had with the A700W was the crappy band. I only like expandable bands because they are super easy to put on your wrist. There are dozens of expandable bands that you can easily swap out to make this watch really look like a million bucks. Now I have a silver and a gold watch that will go with anything I wear. EAZZY PEEZY!
I own 7 casios. All great watches.
Just beginning padawan. The addiction will only grow😅.
Another "perfect" watch. Ben you've already ruined me with the lcw-100t. It is perfect for my wrist. Love the slimness of the A700. OK you twisted my arm. After all "It's only 50 quid". 30 watches later🤣. Love your video as always. Cheers☮️
Picked up the silver one in May when it launched here in India. It's minimal, sleek and looks really good.
Great video, thank you for being one of the earliest RUclipsr to recommend A700. Now I got 4 A700, all the gold variant and the original silver. It's my favorite Casio. Hopefully Casio will add Bluetooth function to this watch like the upcoming ABL-100.
This update is brilliant. It looks cool. If only they could make the gap between the case and bracelet closer.
Been enjoying both of these ones for a couple of weeks now and they are stunning. The gold one is amazing and the silver one is super versatile. this in a metal case with the same size would be the grails we need.
Ben, you mentioned the PRX digital and I would suggest you check out the 35 mm version. The screen is still the same size which makes it much more proportionate. It’s a fantastic digital if you’re willing to splash out about $200 USD from the usual gray market sites.
If they’d only make an all black resin a700 in the style of the f91w I would totally own one. I have both the a700 and f91w. Would be so cool to have an A700 black resin case and strap.
I think I will wait for a full steel version of these.
Great review - now both on my list to buy! Was looking forward to a good review on these boys 👍🔥
Thanks for sharing this, Ben! 🙏
The A700W is one of my personal fav's. 👌 I do think it looks fabulous, though personally the slight emptiness of the lens now that they've 'cleaned it up' would take some time to grow on me 😁
I wish it had a countdown timer, otherwise it's a stunner.
I don't know why a countdown timer is so rare on these Casios. We've got pasta to make!
@@Naushad1210my ae1200 has one
Dont these?
@@Naushad1210 Ha! and a lawn to water, and laundry to clean. I use that timer daily.
@@prathamsharma0000 no these don't. I even have a $100 g shock that doesn't. I think they are not given often because it would need additional hardware/configuration inside.
@@Naushad1210 because those are older models (15-20 yeears old). tbh, you can just set the alarm or use the stopwatch to measure the pasta-time. if these had countdown timer, then they either would be more expensive or no one would buy the more expensive models (ae-1200). the b640 models have timers, tho.
Thanks for the video. I think the A1000 is build with metal and mineral glass and uses near the same module (more precise).
I'm really knocked out by the accuracy of the module in mine; I've had it a fortnight and it's not even a second out yet,
I know accuracy is a bit of a lottery even within examples of the same model, and Casio don't promise less than a second/day.
I see they're doing the "clean face" like the new F-91W models. I still prefer the previous designs.
I do , it’s too plain Jane . The superfluous Casio text is what makes it inherently Casio . Sterile just is that - sterile
Yeah. It just doesn't look right, and the face is pretty empty, but from what I hear, plenty of people have been asking for it. As long as that doesn't become the norm, it's fine.
I agree, I like the colors on the old one..
@@valengreymoon5623yeah hope they don’t normalise this sterile look across the board on classics like the a158/a168 etc or f91 but I doubt they will they just making these also
I've already seen the F-91 versions, and only the white one looks halfway decent.
I like the more color on older models especially in gold version.
I have to say that despite boasting just "splash resistance" I've worn one of these in the pool, sea and shower and its never had any problem. For some reason casio just undersells their water resistance like that
Theyve done the same with the F91-w gone all MINIMALIST on screen..DO LOVE me a700 my fav vintage i own...I Find the screen more visible than any other due to its low profile glass virtually millimetres from the display...Really like the look of the gold variant...
Same bracelet that came with the A700W-1ACF i bought a last year for $23. It’s the superior aesthetic option
Love my A700W!
Got it delivered from Amazon a few days ago and it’s now my most worn and favourite Casio!
P.S. mine was made in Thailand
Gotta get that gold one! Beautiful watches.
I got one after seeing this. Gorgeous wee watch. First ever vintage Casio I've bought. I loved the sleek design, bracelet and lack of junk on the dial.
Now, if only they'd do it in gold coloured stainless steel!
Casio digital watches on top. Being affordable is cool 😎
Got mine today after watching your review. Got it for about £36 which is a great price. It is lovely and very sleek but feels a bit small. I had to double-check that I didn’t get a ladies size, it is a bit small but quite nice nonetheless.
IMHO, the best non-G digital Casio would have:
- four buttons
- 24h stopwatch
- alternate time zones
- countdown timer with auto-repeat option, maybe with an instant-setting mode to get 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 minutes countdown just by repeatedly pressing a button
- multiple alarms, lasting 20 seconds
- good light
- exposed lugs, so standard aftermarket straps would look good on them.
And the premium version could be basically the same, but in full steel and sapphire.
Did you find such one?
@@sambhavkapoor26 No, but there are some that come close:
W-201 (very interesting and cheap),
W-202/LW-204/LW205/B-640 (same module as a basic G-shock)
LF-20 (ana/digi, fully electronic display)
A-500 world timer
AE-1200 world timer (as big as a G-shock, but cheaper)
There are some non-G Casios that that have an adding countdown button, but they're big and not in my taste.
@@vaclav_fejt thanks mate
@@vaclav_fejt w 201 is cool
In my opinion, the allure of this watch lies in its retro charm; therefore, I prefer the original
Love the retro digital casios. For me the text and small pops of colour is part of the charm. I love my a168 and prefer to the newer minimalist versions. =) If they made a168 exactly same but with 100m wr, sapphire, full metal and solid links, I would pay stupid money for one! Lol
I'd still love the retro charm of the older models much better. The colourful fonts on it give it more 90s vibe.
I would love to see them come out with a MRG version make it happen Casio 100-200m water resistant titanium case bracelet with an extra rubber strap sapphire glass would be chefs kiss with like 5 color options I love my f91w with the green case but if they came out with a MRG I would never care to own another watch period
How about something in the middle, rather than slapping a 30 cent module in a high quality case, and charging 5k...
@@kaczynski2333 if u have a issue with MRG pricing than stay at the budget price range plenty of options for you.
It would be nice if Casio add the illuminator backlight to the 700, I will disregard the rest of the wishlist.
Or a bold move with: sapphire, SS and solid bracket to compete with the ø36 mm digital PRX.
Please Review the new Citizen super Titanium "Forza" collection
Hi, long time follower, you will always deliver ! have you reviewed the casio a1000 without the mother of pearl dial ? I have it and its marvelous. Looks so much better with all steel dial and mesh bracelet. Looks like a Genta one.
and did you heard about the "bluetooth a168" ABL100 ?
A700 looks great
Had to return another model with this bracelet cause it was BRUTALLY PINCHING
You like ultra slim dress watch, bit more than casio. Tissot tradition 5.5 it's actually 5.2mm thick. A Real beast😁
A700 is in my wishlist.. These two variants seem more desirable..
Will pull the trigger if and when they are available here in India.. Only question is - Gold or silver ?
They do look cool, great find
Ben, i like it, clean, sexy, i like the original with all the bells and whistles but this minimalist look is fetching, thanks buddy,
I think I preferred the retro futurism of the original a700.
I'm not sure your video showcases how shiny these watches are! Very shiny
i've never dealt with the 'slide-rail adjustment' mentioned at 05:11 - and neither the enclosed manual nor online instructions inform you how to adjust it
turns out a small screwdriver stuck into the hole inside the clasp can be used as a lever to lift the central piece, allowing you to slip the whole clasp up or down the bracelet
it is a bit of a rinky-dink bracelet and i'd have preferred a mesh, but at least it's brushed steel so doesn't pick up finger prints so easily as a polished
lovely little bit of kit and very inexpensive with discounts straight from Casio store -- and being so slim it wears well even on bigger wrists than the average noodle-armed watch-reviewer has :)
It looks great. I would buy it, if it had a steel case and mineral crystal, though.
I would really love if you can please review "Seiko Alba Solar Radio AEFY503". An economical solar powered radio controlled watch.
my goodness! you are excited! listen to those voice cracks!
Aaaand... just grabbed one😂
If we can get one with tough solar and wr100mt, I'm sold. I think Casio should really push solar on as many models as possible.
Batteries literally cost 2 bucks and a screwdriver.
@@DevilKazuyaa Not opening the case keeps the watch waterproof for way longer, my solar ones have been going for decades, swam in the sea, wore daily. I'd rather spend those two minutes once every 30-40 years to change the accumulator (it's a 5 bucks battery) than doing it every few years.
benny boy this could be my first digital
Really prefer the dbc32 on a canvas strap than this style
just got my casioak
I have very skinny wrists but 32.7mm is small 🙈 I know how small my vintage 34mm seiko looks on my wrist and even though this Casio looks cool I might pass it because one very small watch is enough in my collection + the seiko has 10bar wr.
Armitron do a steel case for under £30. Illumination is rubbish though, really retro correct
❤I love mt f91w but I think very soon will get one of newest ones ❤
Mesh bracelet vs this bracelet on a700
Which looks better and more comfortable for daily wear and in long run ?
I have the mesh bracelet one and I think it's the best bracelet they've made, it's so comfy, the rolled links on the other are not that comfy but tolerable
@@kyledriscollmusic you mean for daily wear, mesh would be fine right ?
But looks wise which give best look?
@@janauppara I prefer the mesh in every way
Cute and priced well
Another "clean/empty dial" version? God, no... Text, colours and lines are integral part of cool Casio designs (mostly from the 80's) and they shouldn't be removed!
I hope this gets noticed. How about the A1000 Casio? Is it an upgraded version of the A700?
I have silver one and I love it it's sucn a cute watch
I am interested in a digital Casio (not G-Shock, not AnaDigi) with solar battery, mobile connectivity, wave ceptor, metal body and at least mineral glass with 50m+ water resistance. Just got the Casiotron TRN 50, but its limited edition nature is preventing me from making it my daily driver.
Maybe B1000D based on the popular A1000D?
I have an anidigi Casio Lineage Solar LCW-M100TSE-1AJF
I have been wearing it for an entire year now 24/7, since it's titanium you barely feel it on your hand, but It's more analog than it's digital, give it a look
@@harmanhameed6286 yes, I have the same watch too, but as I said, I am interested in a total digital watch.
If only had a TIMER and 10 moore improvements they should be the goat 🐐 watch!
Aw man! Does this mean I have to buy yet another A700!? 😂. I already own 2. Damn you Ben and Casio! 😂
Casio did it again😮
Oi! Ben, tudo bem? Rapaz, você já viu o Casio Rag and bone modelo A1000RCB-1? Obrigado.
after getting a Casio with a metal case, I find these chrome almost faux metal casios much less desirable
I like the simplicity of the new a700, but I still prefer my A1000.
people say it will scratch if you look at it wrong
Qurious to know if there is any tangible difference between various versions of the same model: A700WEV-7AEF - EU/UK vesion, A700WEV-7AVT - US version and A700WEV-7ADF - MEA version, the one I proudly own since yesterday))
Casio
I wish casio would sell the bracletes only
What kind of bracelets are those and why can’t I find any info on them??
Hey, are there any options for an aftermarket bracelet on this?
love casio
I'm wearing the first release of this right now and I find it to be the most comfortable watch on a bracelet that I have ever worn full stop. The light weight and thinness can't be beat at this price point.
Review of the Casio ABL100?
You need to check out Titan watches
I love casio watches, but honestly the value is all over the place in their range. You're paying more than double the A158 for the A700 just for the design with a marginal improvement in materials. Speaking of the A158, the gold colour also costs way more than the silver A158 which makes no sense value wise. So yeah, casio can offer good value if you know when to spot it but there are a lot of overpriced watches in their collection.
I remember seeing the same title not far long ago lol
Price
waiting for steel and sapphire
I love Casio! Well, some. Love my GX-56BB and my CA-53W. But I was heavily disappointed by the cheap feel of the A168 and the A500. They're all too tiny, and the metal bracelets are rattly cheap shit. I'd rather buy a Skmei instead, almost identical quality but more appropriately priced. When will Casio finally give us ADULT-sized watches with steel cases, mineral glass and better bracelets? The A-1100 was a good start, but the A-1000 also disappointed a bit. There is a HUGE market still!
Sadly, I already have the original silver and gold versions, so I won't be buying these. For mesh, I suggest not only the earlier A700, but the A168WEMB (a seriously underrated watch that's never spoken about) and, if you want steel, the A1000 with the mesh is often on sale for well under its £100 RRP.
Why can’t Casio release all metal versions.
why tf are these so expensive!
the digital watch itself costs mere dollars and the bracelet being covered plastic also costs pennies, why'd it cost 50$
insane markups
wow its half the price on macys vs amazon
Imagine if they make this solar powered..
And yet still no swordfish!!! Pretty dumb not giving the public what they truly want, & yes I'm aware about the licence expiry! So simply call it a swordfish!
Bonky bonky bonky bonky
No steel case, not interested.
Casio A1000 with mineral glass and steel body
@@abhinaybuiss the a1000 aesthetically looks worse and lacks the sleekness. It doesn’t come together like these models or the F 91W, or the a168
@@emerobo the original post didn't say anything about those aspects, so maybe it's good for them.
Same. Why can’t they make steel case?
