Honestly not a fan of these for 150 bucks. Casio seem to have this attitude that stainless steel is some sort of high luxury material, when it's been the industry standard for years at this point. If Armitron can afford to do a fully stainless steel digital for under 50 bucks, why are Casio seemingly incapable of doing so? I like a lot of Casio watches, but their price points are insane on any of their non-resin models IMO.
Toyota 4Runner syndrome, probably. Casio is likely so confident on their reputation for durability that they feel they can charge $150 for a stainless digital watch.
@@tescoshortage I don't doubt it, but reputation or not, Casio watches are an awful value proposition IMO. You can get watches that exceed or match Casio's quality for way less money these days. Given Casio, I'm somewhat surprised there isn't another version of this watch in grade 2 or 5 titanium, with sapphire, and a $2,000 price tag, because reasons.
It was between this and the SKXMOD for my A168 for me. And I went with the SKXMOD. But I may still get this because it looks brilliant on a brown leather strap. Thanks for the great review!
I have huge wrists and bought the gold one just for it's retro bling 80s style. I did not buy it for practical or spec reasons moreover an addition to complement my evening wear. This is a dress digi
I bought a silver one for full retail price, and IMO it's actually worth it. Maybe just barely, but still. My only problem with it is the lack of 24-hour mode. Not a dealbreaker, but I prefer it to AM/PM.
Ive got months of one these on wrist, and the bracelet is honestly perfect for this watch- if the links were solid it would (likely) be thicker and less chiseled than a comparable solid link bracelet at this price point
Interesting take: I nearly bought one late last year, but decided to go for Casio's EFA120D-1AV instead: yes, its a "hybrid" ana-digi, but 1) the digital display uses Casio's EL backlighting for a crisp, even display; 2) that display is subdued just enough not to distract from the analog hands, making the watch super-legible for what most people will be using it for 90% of the time; and 3) like the A1100D, the case and bracelet are stainless steel, the watch sports a mineral crystal, *and* a WR rating of 100m. The kicker is the price: I paid a bit under US$50 via Amazon - at the moment, it's somewhere just south of US$60, still under half the price of the A1100. Maybe its time this watch got a review from you?
I have this casio, just for collection,i use it sometime for pleasure, she is great, all steel just like casio in 198p,i only buy old casio or new in steel because they are very solid and good quality
I bought it and I'm happy with it! It's my second most worn next to my Orient kamasu. It's my fav digital and I find it harder to go back to the Casio royals / g-shocks as its such a nice size/weight around your wrist. My first Casio royal died due to water leak while swimming so there's that though...
I didn't care, I wanted one and I got it. I absolutely love it. Overpriced? Yes. Do I care? No. I just couldn't stop thinking about it so I got it and I don't regret it at all. I do, however, get the critiques. It's not for everyone and I once again admit it IS overpriced.
For this price $249-$299 Aussie bucks, 50m WR and a 24hr mode for the time really should be mandatory. Bugger because if it had that, I’d buy it. As it stands, for my retro fix, I’m sticking with my Armitron Griffy which I paid about sixty Aussie dollars for including shipping 🤷♂️
I think the only thing I don't like about the A1100 is the strap itself. It's not easily adjustable and you need to go to any watch dealer to help you adjust the strap. Still, I wished I could get them.

May be the design is awarded but for me the screen seems too small (especially on the black version which also seems to be less readable due to light reflecting).
These are coming down in price now, due to offers, which is good because to pay retail for this watch is insane. I got my A1000 at a 45% discount (from a reputable retailer). Given I have four A100s already, this watch is a gimmick for me, so for steel I'll use my A1000
Casio has some serious wonky pricing as you sometimes pay almost dubble for a different color that's not even limited. :S I guess the insane price on this piece is the "vintage" tax as there is nothing to motivate the cost in material or function.
I bought the same watch to my friend. It's a beaut. But I bought a quartz version. A bit larger 44mm. I didn't even know Lorus makes automatics... Tho, I wouldn't take one for free.
