I had a lot of vibration and sounded like a steel drum. I watched your video and then checked my dampners. One was shot as you described. I ordered a genuine jaguar part off eBay (£40) and have just fit it. Didn’t even need a jack. I think it’s resolved the problem. Great work thanks.
Are the dampners all the same for all xe specs? Would be grateful if you could share the part number or link to what you got as I've noticed mine is shot

I was having a lot of vibration coming through the car at low RPM (not idle) and when coming to a complete stop (but only last a couple of seconds). Thanks to your video I bought a new damper for my exhaust and fitted it today at my works car park and it has completely fixed my issue. I wouldn't have even attempted it if not for you so thank you very much! Looking forward to many more silent miles in the XE
The two dampers, one is rigid like you showed on your vehicle but the other has a flange and has more movement even when new. I fitted a new one just like you have shown as the previous was torn like you showed. The is still vibration at low idle speed around 700rpm. The garage said the engine mounts were ok about a month ago when I first took it in for the vibration.
@ziahaq9810 possibly think 3 are listed but I could only see 2 on mine. If you still have vibration as I said in the video could have engine mount issues

They are harmonic dampers. The 3 of them in the system are for different frequencies. L/H p/n: T2H49846 seams to be the most common failure. No need to jack the car for the rear ones.

I know these can have vibration issues I guess the main tell on the exhaust damper is its just the back box that's vibrating. With the engine mounts what would you say would be the main tell tales they are on there way out or even the main signs they have had, it is it more all over vibration and noise
So with the engine mounts when the car is idling their will always be some vibration of the engine but when they’re when their way out it will be quite a lot of engine vibration. Hope that helps Jason

However I am getting conflicting information from online that it might be faulty engine mounts, possibly loose vacuum hoses from same mounts versus what you do to fix yours. How do I know which one it is before paying out the money? Great video BTW. Thank you.
Yea could be both or either one of them individually. It’s easy to see if the exhaust damper is gone as you can just take a look under the car where they are located and go from there 🙂

Thanks for this video. I have changed my damper but now the car doesn't quite feel right. It still shakes a bit more then usual and especially when I'm changing through the gears. Once I touch the accelerator it goes. The part number I used is T4N16376 on a Jaguar XE 2015 R Sport 2.0d. Any idea what it could be?
Halo I have very unusual problem on my xe steering wheel lock not responding on low temperature,when l press start stop button first time,the steering wheel should unlock,in my case that's doesn't happening 'when engine is in normal temperature than everything works as it should! Nice video. I have the same problem and i am doubting whether it's the engine mounts or the exhaust damper. One of the dampers is much looser than the other and has some very small cracks in it. Though it is not as bad as yours. How can i tell whether it's the engine mount? I also notice vibrations in the car at idle which increases when selecting D or R, and reduces while in neutral (but still present)
If one of them is lose I’d change it and see how it is after. as it will need changing any way your not losing any thing. Then see how it is if it’s still bad then will be engine mounts. Does sounds like yours could be engine mounts with vibrations when putting it in to gear

When installing the new damper, does the rubber lip need to be pressed against the body of the damper? I've installed mine but it is not rigid like the other 1, I also noticed the other 1 is pressed together (has no gap if that makes sense)
Yea I get what your saying sounds like you have 2 types of damper to me. The ones I had had the gap and that’s where the original had split, didn’t have a solid one
Hi Having this issue and just ordered replacement part no T2H24915 it does not state left or right and when lookimg at jaguar diagram parts 14 and 15 are same parts 14 and 15 being both being dampers. Did yours state left or right or are they both same as stated in jaguar
No had the same thing and I can’t tell a difference between any of them so used what I got, looked identical to the one I took off and was all good 🤷🏼♂️😅

Hi sorry to bother you. Quick question. I have replaced left damper with correct damper as I found out they have different hz for sound but it is still very flexible compared to the right.. After replacing your left was it solid in place. Engine mounts have been replaced few months ago so ino not the issue
I’ve read that they are handed however I can’t see why as the 2 on the back box are identical I just bought one and fitted it. Not sure if the one in the middle of the exhaust is any different

Hey! Hmm, there are a couple of these dampers on the exhaust system check to see if you can find another one. Also, Could have engine mount failure as that’s pretty common also!

I’ve replaced it now it has solved the issue however there is a loud single clanging noise when the car turns on, is it too loose? I put it on pretty tight?
I am having issues when coming to a stop. The car seems to violently vibrate for a second or 2 and then it dies down. Could this exhaust damper be the culprit because the engine mounts are brand new on my XE and my exhaust is currently missing one of the dampers for the exhaust?
Hmm, I wouldn’t have though the exhaust dampeners could cause the whole car to violently shake. Could be a couple of things though like the balance shaft or the SCR unit. I would probably take it to a garage for a proper look over. Hope that helps Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond I can mainly feel it in the front of the car, through the brake pedal. It doesn't really happen when stopping, but rather when I've fully come to a stop. It's strange. Someone told me it is normal behaviour of the active engine mounts
I very occasionally get a shudder of vibration when stopping but normally only if i have stopped really quickly and going through the gears fast to a complete stop which I would say is probably normal behaviour
@@TrackAndBeyond ohh good then it's not just me, sometimes I find that I get a bit of a shudder regardless of how quickly I stop, but not often, and only happens when the car has been running for a bit. Something to do with the vacuum in the mounts building up probably
Yea sounds like it then bud. If it gets worse I’d suggest getting it looked at but if it only happens occasionally I’d say it probably is the engine mount vacuum or maybe lack of when coming to a stop

There 3 exhaust dampers, those 2 and one about half way down the exhaust. After just replacing my engine mounts I had a look underneath

Yea the damper I replaced was pretty firm didn’t flex too much
Are these handed as some of the eBay listing have them as RH or LH I wouldn't of thought they would be but if so which is which?

Wouldn’t particularly say it would cause an issue it would just make the exhaust vibrate I think
