This is a beautiful stitch. I am saving the video to make my first scarf & hat for the season. I donate to charity and use your stitches to elevate from boring to something special. 😊
Thanks for a very clear & easy to follow tutorial! Love this beautiful stitch. Now I’m really going to have to try it. I think I’ll try it with a much bigger hook for drape, as this looks like it could be kinda dense. Thank you again! ❤
You make such beautiful pieces! My question is this: many of your pieces appear to be yarn eaters because of their density so how much yarn (4 weight) do you typically purchase in order to make a blanket (around throw size of 50" x 60") with say, using a 5.5 mm or 6.0 mm hook? I would rather have a little left over rather than come up short.
I made a large swatch using Red Heart Soft Yarn from my stash and used a 5.5 mm crochet hook. I followed a website that helps calculate how much yarn you will need if you use the same stitch throughout your project. If I calculated correctly you will need to chain 165 stitches, crochet approximately 180 rows and you will need at least 2306 yards of yarn. My 4 by 4 swatch was 13 stitches and 12 rows. The swatch I calculated from was 47 stitches and 24 rows. Hope this gives you a good starting point.
The Alpine stitch is one of my favorite stitches.
As always I love your simple, to follow tutorials... thank you Sarah.

I love that you donate your work. Any particular charity or random?

Thank you. This, looks beautiful ❤.
Thanks ❤
How much yarn to buy for a 50x60 blanket 4 weight would be hard to guess. Love this stitch though.
Hi, I love this stitch, but how do I have to modify it to make a hat out of it?
