    Fairly new to crochet. Can't wait to try this. LOVE the HDC to join!

      Thanks! I can’t take the credit for that joining method. It was how I learned to make granny squares many years ago, but whoever did think of it, sure was clever! Hope you enjoy the crochet journey!

    Hoping you can help, I’m confused with the single crochet row. I’m getting an extra stitch in each side. Do you skip the first stitch after the corner?

      Thank you for the compliment! I’m just leaving for church. I will look over my pattern this afternoon or evening and get back to you.

      Hi Amy. You don't need to skip any stitches when you make the single crochet rounds. Is it possible that you are confusing one of the chains for a stitch? It might help you to place a stitch marker in the first and last stitch on each side so that you are sure where they are when you come back to them on the next round.

      Great tip, thank you. How many stitches should there be in between the corner stitches on the 1st SC round? I really appreciate your replies. I’m so excited for this project.

      @@SunsetLakeLoops the first single crochet round has 5 stitches per side, so if you don’t count the corner stitches, there are 3. Have you looked at the free written pattern? It gives you stitch counts. You can find it here: bananamoonstudio.com/alpine-stitch-crochet-blanket-square/

    Is there an easy way to print this pattern? I've gone to all the links and can't find the one for printing. Thank you in advance. Beautiful work!

    Great tutorial! I´ve been toying with the idea of making som sort of pattern with alpine stitch granny squares my self, but the chain 3 have irritated me and stoping me. Great tips with the HDC. What is the purpose of the SC rounds? I know it´s used in flat patterns for alpine, but i thought it was just needed to get back to the start chain. Beautiful square :)

      The rounds of single crochet are about spacing. They increase the distance between the double crochet rounds so that the post stitches lay nicely.

      whenever i do alpine stitch it seems to curl what am i doing wrong?

    • @BananaMoonStudio
      @BananaMoonStudio  11 месяцев назад

      @@figenalkansoy4112 nothing at all. Alpine stitch curls because of the post stitches. They bend the tops of the stitches underneath them. When all the post stitches are front post stitches on the same side of the piece, they all work together to curl the piece. You can balance the curl with back post stitches, or with front post stitches on the other side of the piece, either of which would bend stitches the opposite direction, but then it wouldn’t be alpine stitch. Blocking your piece might reduce the curl somewhat.
