    Found one of these I’m getting ready to start the same process. I might come back with some questions. Thank you for posting this!

    I just bought 2 8hp wood chippers and one of them (troy bilt 47286 8hp) has engine# 192432 type 0122, but this chipper has been swapped parts out pretty bad, wrong control linkage, and maybe even wrong carb, I was unable to find any you tube videos on the troy bilt chipper vac but this video is exactly what I was looking for! The troybilt has the exact same setup for manual start. Not sure about the fuel pump, but mine has a fuel pump as well. This made my day! Thank you...
    The guy I bought the troy-bilt from got the wrong engine looks like, yet had the right model # on the starter recoil housing! Yet crankcase cover bolt spacing is 2.5" on the troy bilt chippers, and most 8hp crank covers are 3.5 inch spacing! Luckily I found another crankcase cover for it.
    My question would be on the fuel pump vacuum feed hose, as the troy bilt chippers have the fuel tank below the carb. I can remount it somewhere but I was going to try to do it with the fuel pump. I also have all the electric start parts.
    It's a bit of a project but I only paid 80$ for all the parts and the motor fired right up! I just need to get the correct carb and metal housing like in this video, throttle control part, and I think I'll be in business!
    Also going to pick up a 1993 sears craftsmen 8hp wood chipper shredder today for 50$ that starts then dies... so that's how I found your video here! Dumb luck I suppose. I might subscribe to your channel to see if you have another video or 2 I can use with my 8hp projects!

    So even after all those years of sitting the pulse pump is okay so there's hope that mine is all right so I will leave it alone until I get the new carburetor put on and get the new Killswitch installed. I bypassed they loyal switch online thinking maybe it was bad because the light was flashing while I was pulling the cord even with the correct oil level.

    for the bolts holding the carb in you can buy an external star socket from o reily's auto parts, it may be better than using a normal socket

    I have this same engine on a tracvac leaf vacuum. This week the throttle control lever stopped working. The butterfly is at wide open all the time. I'm guessing a return spring broke and fell off. I watched your video hoping to see what mine is missing. I have the linkage/spring that attaches to the top of the carburetor. I have that S-linkage in the middle of the screen at 17:48 and I have the spring at the bottom near the throttle control that attaches into the lever with all the small numbered holes. When you go to full throttle that spring stretches and would pull the linkage. When you go down to a slow idle the spring relaxes but there is nothing pulling that lever back to close the butterfly. Any help would be appreciated.

    Right now I'm in the process of trying to get 1/8 horsepower Briggs and Stratton generator running but I went the lazy route and purchased a new carburetor so I'm waiting for that to get here. I also purchased new fuel lines but I've not done anything with the fuel pump yet and I see you did not either. Wouldn't it be a concern if it was sitting for 10 years that pulse fuel pump might be froze up? I have an open mine up yet. I did loosen the screws on it and fuel did come out start to come out but I did not check the fuel supply up a carburetor to see if it was pumping fuel to the carburetor. I imagine I would have to check that while pulling on the start cord.

    Very clear and informative video! Thanks Jeff. I have the same engine on an old Troy-Bilt Chipper/Vac with the same issue. It will start with starter fluid then die. My question is, you re-built a the carburetor and every part and jet hole seemed in very good condition. If you had to guess, what was the root of the problem, other than sitting there with bad gas, what do you think prevented it from running?

    • @rjminer6547
      @rjminer6547 4 года назад

      Well, I guess you did replace the Valve Float Needle so I guess it could have been that.

    Hi . Just picked one of these machines up. Got it running but not great. I have a single white wire hanging off the back and just wondering if you know where that is supposed to go. Thanks

      It may be an electrical output for if you wanted to run headlights. or a ground kill wire for the magneto/coil

      Some DR parts have to be purchased through DR Power equipment. But most other parts I try to buy at my local Briggs and Stratton dealer. Amazon online has most parts too.

    By chance you wouldn't have the model number on that motor would you? I have the same motor on a little Wonder blower but the part number plate is missing on the recoil housing

      You don’t use a model number on some other engines do you have your own model number look on the motor and you get the right number
