The all look like babies/young in this one, but I really liked the song. I did my best at translating the lyric for you (just to show that Tarja never actually sant Gethsemane), I found 3 different ones so in the end I just had to stick with the one I felt was what I myself was hearing Tarja singing so apologies in advance if I translated something wrong - I blame the lyrics I found not being consistent!

Thank you for this reaction! You have right, they all are looking like babys! 😉 I write this bevore i finish the video because i will not forget what i would write. This song "Gethsemane" was one of the first songs i'd hear of them, "Angels fall first" was the first song i'd hear of Nightwish and i buy the first album what's also called Angels fall first and the second album Ozeanborne together, this song is on the 2nd album and it sounds in the really classic old Nightwish style what i really like! 🤘 I also like the guitar and the keyboard in this song and Tarjas voice for sure! 🖤 I know this song about 23 years but when Tarja sings the last words "..the poetry in me is dead" with her piercing voice i always get goosebumps! There is another video from the same show with 2 songs, this one and "Sacrament of wilderness" what i also like very much! It's a shame that you selected this video only with this one song, the other video with this 2 songs is about 10 min without the talk bevore. But you can look it by your own if you want, i think you know the other song but maybe you can't remember. Or maybe you make another reaction of the other song? 😉 I would like it! If you would know how you speek the name Gethsemane than look the video of this song from Buenos Aires 2019, Floor did speek the name bevore they start it.

20 yrs. old, and already so talented. Tuomas had no idea what a powerhouse Nightwish was going to become, and Tarja had no idea how beloved she'd be by fans worldwide.

The studio version of this is the most-played song in my entire library. It’s fun to see them so early n NW history, even if they all look utterly terrified. This is as about as OG a Nightwish track as you can get. Predates Marko even. Well done. And any pronunciation lessons will be lost in the comments section to the annals of time.

Hey Constanza, great reaction and nice you picked that one up. Knowing what Gethsemane means, you'll see some of the lyrics borrow from to the tell.
You'll hear that song again (with Floor and 20 odd years later) when you react to the Buenos Aires concert. Gethsemane is a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem where, according to the four Gospels of the New Testament, Jesus underwent the agony in the garden and was arrested the night before his crucifixion. The explanation is clipped from wikipedia, but I hear one of your fellow reactor, Guylain Prince, a franciscan friar tell the story too, when he reacted to this song (both this and the buenos aires live versions.
Hi, in my youth it was compulsory to have lessons in religion. I'm not that religious to go to church, unless for confirmation, weddings etc. Even if f do know Tuomas apparently is not religious at all, many of his lyrics somehow are related to the bible. The name suggests the song is religious in some way, you can even think that yourself, but to me its just a song of a lost love.
.I love each and every one of these performances, but for sure the Buenos Aires Floor's version is produced so much better. The one from Bloodstock is not bad either, there's a funny ending by Emppu.
Obviously you won't comment any of these in the near future but keep them in mind for the future. Floor singing it makes the song t!totally different. I don't even mind if you don't make such such reaction, but listen to them for your own pleasure.

I found NW when they did Sacrament of Wilderness in 1998....and since then been my fave band. They are already so great and talented during this early era and times that wonders one so much. Emppu with his short hair does guitar work so nice and the voice of Tarja is before Germany studies...and so clean. This combo took me to this band. Naturally Tuomas masters the show and his lyrics are so deep already when being as young as here.

Never seen this video before but I heard this on the This is Nightwish Spotify playlist and I LOVED IT. I heard Floor's Buenos Aires version and she says GET-SEM-A-NE so that's how I figure you say it lolol

Great great song, nightwish at their best and Oceanborn is also an all time great album, easily their best. Imaginarium is also very good.
I remember this being my favourite song from them when I had just heard the Oceanborn album, now it got kinda buried in their discography, but still a great song combining the power metal sound and high operatic vocals

Started listening to Nightwish with Floor and when I went back to hear the first albuns I instantly fell in love with Oceanborn. Stargazers and Gethsemane hit me really hard.
@@godcaoss they are great songs yeah, must say my favorites are Once and Imaginaerum, with a lot of Floor versions surpassing the originals, but the old material has great gems too

Gethsemane (Geth-sam-uh-nee) was the name of the garden where Jesus was arrested by the Sanhedrin, and which led to the Crucifixion. Great reaction, and great find, by the way. I know this song well, but never saw this performance of it.

I can do any Nightwish song, just that when I went back to look at older suggestions that I had gotten form you guys, all the links were directly to the Buenos Aires, Tampere or End of an Era concerts - and I don't want that! So it can be songs that are in the shows just performed at other times. Also, I don't know the setlist before I start filming the reactions so don't tell me if I react to a song that are in the upcoming shows please! 😅🤫

I like the version on the "Decades" 2 CD, DVD live version from Buenos Aries. The song, like many of Tuomas's songs, has evolved and I think it much better now.
The song is amazing. But you have to hear Floors version. It is ... dont have words.
Short 'a' and pronounce the 'e', so 4 syllables.
Tarja sounds very muffled in this version. Prefer the much clearer recent version by Floor.
Oh lord.. this version is like 20 years old and the bandmembers were in their early 20s with much less experience. What kind of sound quality did you expect?

@@clivematthews5296 Pointless to compare a 20-year-old Tarja to that of a 40-year-old Floor with 20 + in experience. Context matters, but some people will act ignorant just for the sake of it. Nothing new.
