Thank you for the review. I had just bought this controller and I enjoy it a lot. It takes some getting use to but when you do it is a really great controller. Manually having to turn on your PS4 isnt really a problem, get up off your lazy butt and turn it on. I absolutely love the back pedal buttons, they are the most natural and comfortable back buttons ive had on any controller. Even more so than the XBox elite controller. The" two" buttons isn't much of an issue for me, sometimes less is more.
You're welcome, I'm still loving my controller as well. I also agree with your statement sometimes less is more, the two extra buttons have been working great for me and I never have to worry about accidently hitting the wrong one.
I watched a vid where a guy from Astro came in and talked about the c40 and he said it was for a spare thumbstick module. Just in case you get massive stick drift that can’t be fixed by holding the remap button 2 times. I think he said they would be $20 when they are released

SynTech Gaming makes sense thank you! 👍🏾 what about the joysticks ? I saw Air Bear video and he says the tension in the sticks are too loose which make it you more inaccurate. I am more accurate with my aim controller which is like the normal PS4 controller with paddles. Anyway to change the tension with the software ?
@@CrenshawCali The tension is less on the Astro, however, after getting used to it I like it and feel like I have better control of fine movement. There is no way to adjust the tension right now, maybe they will come out with a new analog module in the future that has adjustable spring tension.

Great review! My Scuf Impact just crapped out on me so Im picking this one up ( I've already owned 2 Scufs and I want something different). Can the back buttons be mapped to a thumbstick being pressed down?
Thank you! Sorry your scuff crapped out, always sad when technology breaks. I don't remember trying to make the back buttons to r3/l3 but I think it does. I'll see if I can test it out soon and report back.
Anybody experiencing stick drift please hold the button at the back of controller for 3 seconds, then don't touch anything till you hear another vibrate 30 seconds later. Don't do the press and hold for 3 seconds, release, then press and hold for another few seconds, that just re centers the sticks, not fully recalibrating them. Also just holding the button down for 30 seconds factory resets the controller. Someone please try this and let me know it works. ASTRO official video guide ruclips.net/video/YutfrEuT5y8/видео.html a lot of people are just ignoring this video and following a user comment online. Please like or upvote so people see this, thank you.
Both methods do work for re-calibrating the analog sticks. One saves you 30 seconds, the other keeps you from accidentally moving the sticks by not doing the second press and hold. Holding the programming button down for 25-30 seconds does a soft reset of the controller, it wipes the profiles/programming back to default. A hard reset is preformed with a paperclip with the smaller hole. Thanks for the information and link to the official video, it is always nice to have more than one way to do the same thing.
This may be a dumb question but I've never had an "elite" controller but do the back buttons have to be mapped to another standard button or can they be set in a game menu to do something extra?
Not a dumb question at all! They have to be mapped to one of the standard buttons. The main purpose of this is to keep your thumbs on the analog sticks as much as possible, by moving whatever buttons (most commonly x/o that your thumb leaves the analog stick for) to the rear paddles/buttons this allows you to maintain control of your character as much as possible. Since ever second/ millisecond reaction counts having your thumbs always where they should be causes you to be able to react faster in situations. Hope this helps! Thanks for the view and comment!
Grate video mate iv ordered one of these from the us should get here soon Two things that would make this controller better is if you could turn the PS4 on with it and if it came with customisable faceplates ie red, blue gold silver ect maybe when they make a version 2 i love The fact u can change the sticks around so u can play as a PS4 controller or Xbox 👍
I agree! And thanks for the comment! I was lucky enough that Astro sent me one of the special red and black face plates for this. I am surprised they haven't come out with solid color options yet though.
This really depends on the game and how it is programmed, which is what I discuss in one of the videos about altering the% of trigger. There are some games out there that consider 20% trigger pull to cause action to happen so there is no dead zone at all. There are other games that require 100% trigger pull for action to happen, so if you set this controller up as sensitive as possible you only have to move the trigger 1/5 of it's full range to accomplish this, so very very small amount of deadzone, even less than reduced trigger range
@@SynTechGaming True, I did jump the gun early with this question. I'm playing F1 19, but there is, I would say a 15% deadzone, which leaves a lot of room on the table in terms of breaking techniques, so looking for more accurate triggers. Its between this and the xbox elite series 2. (Wha would you say it better btw?) I dont have the room for a wheel.
There is not as much tension on the astro as the normal dualshock, after getting used to it I actually like it more and find it easier to do more precise movements, this was after a week of in the moment swinging way past someone though lol
SynTech Gaming hmm i would think more tension would be better for precise movements as it wouldnt be as easy to overaim but im going to pick it up this week and try it out hopefully its good and ill keep it
@@CODxZOMBIE I thought the same thing but it's hard to describe. With more tension with the stick centered it's harder to start moving it then it feels like it moves easier because you're going from no pressure centered to fighting the springs. With less tension it feels smoother through the entire movement including moving from the dead zone, it does take some getting used to but I find it smoother and easier to controller after getting used to it.... Obviously this is going to be personal preference, I also have never tried anything heavier than standard dualshock/ Xbox Elite.
Tension is loose. That was a deal breaker for me. Well that, it uses a dongle, it's too big, can't turn on ps4 with it, and it doesn't have smart triggers like battle beaver.
BoomShakaLaka yea the loose tension i cant get used to but astro is coming out with increased tension modules for sale (came straight from Astro in an email when i asked about it ) but rn i might return it till then idk i cant get used to it my aims all over the place
Hello mate one more question about the controller if you don’t mind , would you recommend the controller to friends/family and subscribers . Thanks and stay safe
That is a tough decision at this point, the controller is good so I do recommend it. However, we know that the PS5 is coming out this holiday season, confirmed by Sony, my guess November. We don't know for sure that this controller will be PS5 compatible at this time, so if your only reason to get this controller is to use on PlayStation and you plan to upgrade to PS5 at release, it might not be worth it to you to spend 200 on a controller that might not be usable for you in 5 months. This is how I would look at the situation, obviously I am not familiar with your personal situation on finances or PS5 plans, but those are the things I would consider if you are thinking about purchasing at this point. If it were me at this point I would just grab the PS4 back button attachment this would last me until PS5 release or confirmed information on what controllers will work on PS5.
@@deanetheridge4259 You're welcome, sorry I didn't help with the decision, lol. If you are looking to just add a couple of back buttons here is a great less expensive option if you plan to get PS% at release. www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-dualshock-4-back-button-attachment/6394775.p?skuId=6394775
Sorry to hear that, I'm curious what went wrong each time? I haven't had any issues with mine. I was playing blackout almost daily with it, too a break for few months and started using it again with modern warfare without any issues. I have thought about buying third party analog sticks for it, mainly curiosity.
SynTech Gaming The left anolog stick stopped allowing my character to run & glide. Astro replaced my module one. Then replaced my left stick a few weeks later. Now they are sending me two new analog sticks.
@@jasonhunt2909 Sorry to hear you are having these issues, at least you are using a controller that you can swap the analog so you are not having to replace the entire thing. Sounds like Astro is taking care of you which is great, their customer service and team have always been great to me. Feel free to keep me updated, I hope this resolves your issues. I bought 2 extra analog modules when they went on sale and have been debating buying the battle beaver ones but they are third party.
I don't play a lot of fighting games so my expertise on this subject is not the best. The controller is great and the buttons are great for quick input. I believe you will want to purchase the circular dpad top that will be available separately later in order to have it set up for fighting games the best possible way.
You should really power down your controller before removing the faceplate... Just press the PS button for about 5 seconds and the slim light bar will flash real quick and it will power down
Probably a good precaution lol. I am still surprised that how to turn off the controller was not in the instructions. Thanks for the view, comment, and feedback!
@@hrubs481 the hopeful side of me says yeah it should work, there isn't that many changes. The realistic side of me says what console has allowed previous gen controllers to work on it? I can't think of any lol
@@hrubs481 I do believe this controller will improve your play in any FPS game as long as you can learn to effectively use the back button. Sony has also released a back button attachment for the dualshock.
You could try to order directly from Astro. In my area Best Buy and Gamestop tend to have the most inventory on these types of items. You can always try Amazon.
I have not tested it specifically with GTA on PC however the controller will work with any game that supports a 360 controller on pc so I would be shocked if it didn't work on gta on pc.
It's still a decent PC controller tbh. I have one of the Microsoft elite controllers for PC though. So as soon as I got my ps5 this astro controller has just been sitting on a shelf tbh still never had any issues with it. I hope to get the new PS5 scuf controller at some point... Maybe even do a video for it. Glad to hear it is getting a better life then the trash pile. 👍
Thanks for the feedback, I'm not sure why it didn't work for me during first testing. It did work later after I posted the video and I couldn't edit it. Lol
I saw it was only stereo, I would assume most headsets that are surround sound have their own connection to the PS4 so this is really to improve audio quality of headsets that would close this port. I've also heard that many pro players use headsets in stereo mode because the virtual surround sound actually muffles some sounds. That could all be personal preference though. I am surprised to see that it doesn't support surround sound, however I'm not familiar with any headset that is 4 pole 3.5 mm surround sound, all of them are a virtual surround sound which this won't interfere with. I'm glad to hear we are getting new audio on the ps5.
I believe it is a personal preference which is why some controllers have the option to adjust it. I have heard they are coming out with modules with tighter tension. I hope they also come out with some that are adjustable tension. After playing with the ones that come with it though I was able to adjust and get used to it.
I can understand that. If you are worried about the price you may want to wait and see if they announce if it is compatible with the PS5, rumors are coming out that the PS5 is backward compatible so I have hope that this controller will also work. This was my biggest concern, 200$ controller and if it isn't PS5 compatible I will only be able to use it on pc. I am loving this controller though and do recommend it if it reasonably fits in your budget.
Thank you very much for these inspiring words! I've had a lot going on and haven't been able to make as many videos as I would like, but hopefully I will have more content coming soon!

(TL:DR I guess you will have to formulate your own opinion and decide yourself, but my intention is to always be honest and transparent) Honesty is a pretty interesting thing, some people have it, some don't, and others can be bought and wavered. Maybe I should have thought more about what impact those statements I made would have in the long run and I do appreciate the feedback. At the same time I have no intentions of hiding my desires, I would love to receive free things and/or payment for making videos like these (talk about dream job). On a side note, Astro did send me some free things after these videos were up and I do appreciate it. Free things/review items/payment would allow me to continue to make these videos much easier. I have already invested some of my money into being able to create these videos so sure, I would love to see some return on investment. I also really enjoy being able to provide information and help to the gaming community. I see many content creators that receive free/review items and/or payment for their videos and I still trust and value their opinion. I guess it is just a matter of time and personal opinion. Your thoughts and opinions may be different than mine so that could also cause an individual to not agree with what I have said. I don't have much content up now so it may be more difficult for some to decide they want to be apart of this community, but I guess time will tell. Merry Christmas!
Bruh why would u ask to be sponsored and for a free headset so u can make a biased review and lose all credibility with your subs? People come to reviews for honesty the second anyone hears “This is a sponsored review” they close out the video instantly this goes with every product. But ya if u wanna be sponsored with 300 subs thats selling out pretty early i would wait until u have a bigger channel to where you can afford to lose subs
I appreciate the feedback and honesty. The statement was mostly a joke as I wouldn't think someone from Astro would actually see one of my less than 300 subs videos. lol, If I do receive anything from Astro though I will most likely make a separate video about it in order to share with the/my community. I hold myself to very high standards and honesty is one of those (obviously), even if I did ever receive something free I would not let it impact my review of something. I definitely don't want anyone to think I am selling out in any way shape or form. If I do ever receive anything for free I will disclose that information and there would probably be a specific video about the free product. I also only asked for the MixAmp as I already have the A40TR headset and I don't think they made any changes to the headset just the mixamp basically. Right now this channel is just a fun hobby and while I would love for it to be something more, currently it is just a source for me to enjoy making videos to help others. Stick around and sub up! I would love to continue to receive feedback, ideas, and suggestions on ways to improve and grow the channel!

Would you recommend this controller for fighting games?
I don't play a lot of fighting games so my expertise on this subject is not the best. The controller is great and the buttons are great for quick input. I believe you will want to purchase the circular dpad top that will be available separately later in order to have it set up for fighting games the best possible way.
You should really power down your controller before removing the faceplate... Just press the PS button for about 5 seconds and the slim light bar will flash real quick and it will power down
Probably a good precaution lol. I am still surprised that how to turn off the controller was not in the instructions. Thanks for the view, comment, and feedback!
How’s it working after months of use?
Controller is still working great!
Do you think this will work on ps5?
I hope so, but there is no way to know for sure until it is officially announced or tested.
@@SynTechGaming yeah makes sense. Coz im planning to get this. I just hope it works. Lol
@@hrubs481 the hopeful side of me says yeah it should work, there isn't that many changes. The realistic side of me says what console has allowed previous gen controllers to work on it? I can't think of any lol
@@SynTechGaming ok thanks. With that said will this controller help improve my gaming experience? Like playing apex?
@@hrubs481 I do believe this controller will improve your play in any FPS game as long as you can learn to effectively use the back button. Sony has also released a back button attachment for the dualshock.
Is this better than the scuf impact ?
My opinion, yes the Astro is better.
Oh, God yes
SynTech Gaming thanks man you helped me out
@@edgarmejia172 You're welcome! Thanks for the view, comment, and support!
Is this controller available in Greece?
From my understanding, it is only available in the US market, sorry.
@@SynTechGaming ok thanks
@@georgemad4194 You're welcome!
So does this controller have motion controls?
Yes it does
I want this controller so bad but it is not available in the EU at all
Is this good with fortnite and fps games?
In my opinion, that's what this controller was designed for, fps/call of duty is what I use this controller for. So yes, it is.
Please from where can I order one? Btw amazon doesn’t deliver the C40 to my place yet idk why, any help?
You could try to order directly from Astro. In my area Best Buy and Gamestop tend to have the most inventory on these types of items. You can always try Amazon.
SynTech Gaming Thankyouu I’ll try that. By far is there anything new about the controller?
Hi, do the headset work on PC also?
I will have to test this at some point to be able to answer.
@@SynTechGaming Thanks!
Tested with GTA (PC)?
I have not tested it specifically with GTA on PC however the controller will work with any game that supports a 360 controller on pc so I would be shocked if it didn't work on gta on pc.
took this from my works trash cant believe they would throw this thing away
after seeing the price i think im gonna keep it and use it for pc gaming
It's still a decent PC controller tbh.
I have one of the Microsoft elite controllers for PC though. So as soon as I got my ps5 this astro controller has just been sitting on a shelf tbh still never had any issues with it.
I hope to get the new PS5 scuf controller at some point... Maybe even do a video for it.
Glad to hear it is getting a better life then the trash pile. 👍
You can actually use the motion with this controller
Thanks for the feedback, I'm not sure why it didn't work for me during first testing. It did work later after I posted the video and I couldn't edit it. Lol
with both my trigger stops on they woth stop at 40 percent so maybe you got a faulty controller
What percentage do your triggers stop at with the trigger stops on?
If I put both stops on the soft ware shows both of them stopping at 40 percent
@@MrSin287 Thanks for letting me know!
Ty sir
The C40 equalizer amp is useless as you can't get surround sound with it on PS4. Only 2.0 CH
Loose tension is bad! You definitely don't want a loose tension. It's the whole reason pro controllers have option to tighten the tension
I believe it is a personal preference which is why some controllers have the option to adjust it. I have heard they are coming out with modules with tighter tension. I hope they also come out with some that are adjustable tension. After playing with the ones that come with it though I was able to adjust and get used to it.
This controller is dope I just don’t know if I wanna pay 200$ for it
I can understand that.
SynTech Gaming that’s a good idea I’ll definitely do that
Yup if you're gonna spend the money battle beaver is still the best. No advertising at all
Can't believe I paid 200 for a controller that I can't start my ps4 wired or wireless
Yeah, especially since it is a licensed Sony product. I wonder if then can/will change this with an update.
Hey man really great video just keep the hard work up and keep doing what your doing hope to see more content from you
Thank you very much for these inspiring words! I've had a lot going on and haven't been able to make as many videos as I would like, but hopefully I will have more content coming soon!
nope why do u care about the damn zipper lmao
200$ for a controller makes me care about every detail. I was also curious if everyone zipper was that difficult or not.
Every review video should start with problem firsr becauss if the controller has issue then what we get in the box wouldnt matter nomore
Thanks for the feedback!
6 videos about Astro C40? Really, why? 🤦🤦🤦
A few people asked me for a review video so here we are. I have also been asked for a video on the EQ settings and setting for the analog stick percentages. So there might be more videos coming. Thanks for the view and comment!
CAUSE HE WANT TOO tf?
My case also sucks.
Zipper difficult like mine? Other than that I have no issues with the case.
@@SynTechGaming yes it feels like when you get a piece of fabric stuck in a zipper every time I open it. I know that's saying it sucks is a bit harsh but it feels like I'm breaking it every time I use it. So I stand by it.
@@take1one I understand for 200$ the zipper should feel like slicing through warm butter while still creating a good seal! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else wrong with your case. Thanks for the view and comment!
I bought two c40s. One is smooth for zipper and the other gets caught on the rubber in the curves.
@@NoVaRedacted wish mine was smooth, seems to be pretty common to have one with a tough zipper though.
So your not bought and payed for but want to be bought and payed by them. So why would anyone trust this review
(TL:DR I guess you will have to formulate your own opinion and decide yourself, but my intention is to always be honest and transparent)
Honesty is a pretty interesting thing, some people have it, some don't, and others can be bought and wavered.
This controller too damn wide.
It did feel strange at first to me but after a couple days, I find it more comfortable than the regular PS4 controller.
Small hands bro
One word for controller "doo-doo"! ..see u on the next website..peace
