Yoooo.. this video was so easy to understand and stayed on topic all the way through... I just subscribed bro.. I look forward to seeing more of your video on ps4 products....
great tips thank you! the only way I can program L2 to UL and R2 to UR is to set the L3 to UL and R3 to UR through the Astro C40 TR Configuration Software, and then switching L3 to L2 and R3 to R2 on the PS4 under Settings>Accesibility>Button Assignments>Customize Button Assignments.
I just recently heard of people using the accessibility options to make this work as well. This is great information, thank you for sharing! I wish I would have thought about this so I could have included it in the video.
Mine is going to arrive next week... would've been horrible not knowing how to turn it off 😂 ALSO! I Didnt know you could reprogram it to remove any drag. THATS AMAZING. My original plan was to map the back buttons to L3 and R3 so I wouldnt have to break my analog sticks any faster. Just knowing about the drag fix gives this thing more of a life span in terms of YEARS. THANKS
Thanks so much for this, I switched out my thumb stick caps and somehow got my analog sticks to have drag. I panicked and thought I might have damaged them. I had no idea that I could reset them by re-programming them!
Also a company called battle beaver makes upgraded modules. My modules gave out and I actually took the time to clean them and they were good for awhile. Hair and dust get under the modules and you can repair them with a T6 screwdriver. I chose to upgrade them and went with the 3rd party company because they have modules with extreme tension haha. I ordered 2 since I use the longest sticks. Also the way to fix drift was actually the incorrect way to fix the drift. I actually did it the way you did for a year and just recently found out. You press and hold the button until it vibrates while on a flat surface, don't touch it for a min and it will vibrate signaling that calibration is complete. You're welcome lol
I kept telling myself to buy some of those battle beaver modules but I still haven't lol. I haven't had any issues with my modules. Yeah, Astro had not released the recommended way to recalibrate stick drift when I made this video unfortunately. Either way does work, but the way you described is the better/more secure way to do it. Simply because you are not touching or moving the controller it is less likely there is accidental movement of the sticks which could program in drift. The way I do it in the video, if you actually hold one of the sticks very still off center, you can actually program in drift lol which is how I tested the process. Thanks, for the information and informative comment. It is nice to hear used info on the battle beaver modules. I wish I could edit the stick drift section of the video to comply with Astro recommendations but oh well.
What I love about this controller is the price! I love it ...no I’m kidding..the most important thing for a controller is the durability for the sticks because they ware out fast . But what makes this product worth the price?
The analog sticks are their own individual modules, so if one ever does wear out you can replace just that specific module instead of having to replace the entire controller. The price is high. If you want to see me go over all of the features of the controller check out my review video! ruclips.net/video/p4zx4s_qC-M/видео.html
I am having an issue with the left analog stick. It won't let me sprint or glide at speed. I had no issues for the first 7-10 days. Now the left analog stick is messing up. Hey, do you know if the controller has motion control? Like gyro control? I've been using the Switch Pro Controller through steam and since it had a gyro, it can be used for motion and mimick the joystick. So I was wondering if that can be tested on steam controller.

It is, honestly I've never thought about the fact that left hand gamers might want the sticks to function backwards like this, you have blown my mind lol. I would recommend reaching out to Astro customer service/Reddit to make them aware that there is a demand for this. I do know you you can put both analog on the left side of the controller, but looking around is still the right stick..
Man, I really wish you could bind two or more button to one paddle as I did with my strike pack, but the controller overall has been doing me good. I also have one thing to say, why aren't people talking about the software Astro provides? The software is insane and it really is a game changer because I feel less restricted in FPS games and 3rd person shooters like Fortnite. Not to mention, If you actually take full advantages of the software, I am telling you that your tracing with be so much easier and smoother.
IF they allowed 2 buttons to be bind to one the controller wouldn't be allowed in tournaments so I don't think they ever will (my opinion). I agree a huge part of this controller is being able to use the software and customize the controller to how you use it. Which is why I am hoping these videos will help people be able to set up their controller and help them more. After getting used to the stick tension I find all of my analog inputs are much smother and better controlled. Thanks for the view and comment!
Recently ordered battle Beaver Customs to replace my modules remote tension can I use Scuf Vantage to sticks on these I was curious because the stock sticks for Astro suck and you can't order any different kind
Thanks for the drift thing, I tried hard resetting a million times. The drift can become a thing as soon as you take off the face plate and switch the modules by accident.
Yeah I noticed this as well, the analog sticks are pretty sensitive about being moved and the faceplate being good and secure. I'm glad it was able to help you! Thanks for the view and comment!
so astro just sent me a replacement controller and it's unusable bc in the astro software it's got the left joystick switched with dpad as if it's an xbox controller setup...and i can't seem to switch it, any ideas?
I want to paint the screws that holds the faceplate a metallic red color. Would that be a bad idea? If not what kind of paint would you suggest? Btw thanks for showing how to map x to the under button. That will help a lot
So, this will probably void your warranty and done wrong could cause damage to your controller so I don't recommend it. Also, Astro has the faceplate listed as a purchasable accessory so you might want to wait until you could potentially get a replacement. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS, but if I were to do it, I would remove the screws from the faceplate by removing the c-clips on them, I would then put tape on the threads on the screws to ensure no paint got on the threads. I would get a hex tool/Allen tool that I would not be worried about getting pain on and insert it into the screw head, then you could paint it while the tape and tool are both on/in it. The tape would protect the threads and the Allen tool would keep paint from getting inside the screw head to ensure you can still get the tool in and out later to screw/unscrew them into/from the controller. Once again I do not recommend this, lol... Maybe they will come out with cool faceplate covers and stuff...
@@lunar3129 Yeah, it just made me think it would be cool to have color options for the face plate. If you are going to paint the screw heads I would still remove them entirely from the face plate before doing so.
Already bought it... very satisfied. Everyone I know who had a scuff is sorry they bought it. Scuff reviews are also trash overall everywhere you look.

How did you figure out how to turn off the controller that is one of my biggest problem when is time for me to turn off my system that was a big catch on
Question. Have you had any success with programming a feature where the game controller setting wants you to press two buttons simultaneously (Like L1&R1) and map it to just one of the underbuttons?
@@Deezy_Ankh you can reset and recalibrate the analog sticks on the Astro controller by pressing and holding the programming button 2 times for 5 seconds this fixes stick drift... It doesn't need to be replaced for drift...
What do u do when your moving forward but your character suddenly stops moving and goes backward or stops moving forward while you are still pressing forward on the analog ?
I would reset the controller using the small pin hole, but before doing that, I would take the face plate off and check and clean the connectors/contacts for the analog sticks and the make sure you properly put it back together, then reset
Thank you this was a great video. One question though, how do you use the touchpad and gyro on PC? Steam only views the controller as an xbox 360 controller
Unfortunately, you don't. There is a way to mess with windows registry and make it recognize the controller as PS4 but then most games will not work with the controller.
Nice video man! Thanks, I was trying to figure out how to turn off controller without switching it to wired mode, as this is how I was turning it off, since it wasn't in the manual. All I need now is for them to patch in the battery icon in PS4 menu & hope that happens soon. Do you also know when the remote needs charging in wireless mode or if does anything to alert of this?
I have not heard of one that does this specifically for this controller. The only adapter I know if that might even make this possible is the CronusMax... But I have no idea for sure that this would/wouldn't work... From my understanding though that product can take any wired controller with USB and make it work on any USB console... Hope this helps
I've had no issues with mine, but I've also never broken a controller and before this controller I only had to replace my dualshock controller once just because the springs were not as firm.
hey bud, I bought a c40, and it will not even recognize my controller on my laptop. I can place the usb adapter on , and it still will not recognize it, however it will show up on device manager. However it has a caution by it, I try to update it, and it will not allow me to? Any help will be taken and much appreciated
Have you tried plugging the controller in directly and turning it to wired mode to see if it picks it up? Last I remember device manager listed is as a360 controller. Have you downloaded the Astro C40 software? Does it recognize it?
SynTech Gaming it keeps saying no device found, please plug in device. When I plug it directly into any of the 3 USB ports, then when I go to device manager, it has a yellow mark on Astro c40, I try to update the driver and it says windows was unable to install your Astro c40. Windows could not find drivers for ur device. If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit their website, and check the support section for downloadable drivers. This is what it keeps telling me
@@gdunn1975 Are you on Windows 10? I just plugged my controller in and I'm my device manager the controller is posted under category Xbox 360 peripherals And called Xbox 360 controller for Windows If yours is saying something else I would uninstall it completely and restart computer and then plug it back up after restart and see what it says
SynTech Gaming I just heard back from Astro gaming, windows 10 is set to Xbox controllers so I had to set the controller like they said and now it works. Thank you for your help bud
i was told pressing for 3 seconds then pressing for 3 seconds again right after only recenters them but pressing the back button for 3 seconds and letting it vibrate and flash then leaving it to sit for 30 seconds, it then will vibrate and flash again and then it is recalibrated
They do both do the same thing, however I was unaware of the leaving it sit for 30 seconds option when I made this video. Thanks for comment and feedback!
@@SynTechGaming they actually dont do the same thing. Ive spoken to astro and they've confirmed calibration only happens when you leave it for 30 seconds
I don't think they will ever allow this controller to support macro features like this. I believe they intend to keep this controller tournament approved so it can never allow multiple inputs on a single press. Just my thoughts though.
@@robthevallee4785 Yeah, I agree, all the hardware is there for them to do a lot of great things so we will have to wait and see what some updates bring us!
HEY I DONT KNOW IF YOU GOT THIS PROBLEM BUT WHEN I PLUG my headset into my Astro controller I can hear my self and I don’t know how to fix it any tips? By the way I have an Astro headset as well.
This sounds like a feature of your headset, check and see if it has mic monitoring, voice monitoring, or something similar. Some headsets this can be adjusted, some it can't... What model headset is it A10?
SynTech Gaming yo I have a problem so my Astro is in wireless mode right and when I’m playing it just beeps in my ear and then disconnects this has happen to me a lot of times while in wireless mode do you know any tips to stop it?????
The dpad does? That's strange, there are a few things I would try in order to resolve this issue. 1. Remove the faceplate and ensure all modules have been properly aligned red line on module lines up with red line in module hole. 2. Do the sick drift recenter, press and hold program button to enter programming mode and without pushing any other button push and hold the programming button again, maybe this will recalibrate the center of the dpad as well. 3. reset the controller using a paperclip size object to press and hold the tiny button (just under the program button)for 30 seconds. 4. Remove and replace the cover on the dpad 5 contact Astro customer support Hope this helps, if one of these corrects your issue please let me know so that I can help others more efficiently.
I have been messing with it some, I would say that a good safe setting is to increase all four options by 5%. I plan to make a video about this later but I think these are good safe settings without getting into many crazy details.
I have family visiting this weekend so I plan on making a review video and analog stick video starting next week, hopefully I can get them both done on Monday!
Can you update firmware for PS4? When I used the usb cord into the pc I didn’t see options for updating firmware but I also didn’t use the Astro usb stick into the pc dunno if it makes a difference or not.
I just did mine after buying it yesterday. Plug micro USB into controller. Plug USB side into PC. Then plug the little transmitter into PC. The software should give the option to update controller firmware in the top right corner. When that's done, unplug the controller USB and only leave the transmitter in, and then it's should give you an option to update the firmware on the transmitter. That's how I did mine worked flawlessly and in total took about 2 minutes
You have to update the controller and wireless adapter firmware using a computer. Make sure you download that Astro software and follow the steps Jordan has provided. Let us know if you need more help.
If you are not having issues then you don't have to change it. But if you are having issues with the guard up and the game not registering the triggers then you need to change it to fix it. Also if you want to have the triggers react as fast as possible set them all to 100%
I will check out his video as I am watching some of the other review videos. One of the main reasons I haven't put up my review video yet is I want to be very in depth and I am waiting for confirmation on a couple of things to make sure I bring the best content.
I have not tested it with Cronus Max, sorry, I don't have one. But from my understanding that thing is supposed to work with any controller that can be used in wired mode.
@@t10parwani my only recommendation would be to get on the Cronus Max forums in order to receive help from people with more experience with that device.
If you mean the actual sticks (not the whole module) just grab and pull up. First time I did mine I had to pull do hard I thought I was going to break it. It's a bit easier now after a few swaps.

I’m getting this controller next Friday but I’m having a hard time understanding on the software how you customize the triggers and the thump sticks like as in how do I make it where I want the trigger locks on but want 100% as if it’s not on lock?
Just adjust the slider so that it shows 100% before they stop against the trigger stops. Check out my video I made about the triggers, ruclips.net/video/UBmjla7FVjM/видео.html Let me know if you still have questions! Thank you!

@@lunar3129 Yeah, it just made me think it would be cool to have color options for the face plate. If you are going to paint the screw heads I would still remove them entirely from the face plate before doing so.
I don't even think you can take the screws from the face plate.
Conde Racelis it’s possible. There’s just a little c ring holding them in place. It’s easily removable.
Great video.
I think I'll buy this controller after seeing this.
Glad I could provide the information you needed to make your purchase!
dont do it!!! buy a scuff!. im severely disapointed!
@@chrisjames5823 What do you not like about the controller?
Already bought it... very satisfied.
Everyone I know who had a scuff is sorry they bought it.
Scuff reviews are also trash overall everywhere you look.
@@stefaniep4374 Happy to hear your satisfied with the controller!
I'm thinking about grabbing the new second model of the scuff just to make videos about. Once I have some free time again.
I still have an issue.I connected my controller to the pc but it still isnt connecting to the software. The orange light is there but it still does not connect to the software and it shows controller not found. How to fix this?
How did you figure out how to turn off the controller that is one of my biggest problem when is time for me to turn off my system that was a big catch on
h p unplug it and turn it on wired
This one I found out on the Astro gaming Reddit, I'm not sure who originally found out/posted about it though.
You can also press and hold the PS button for about 5-7 seconds and it turns the controller off
Question. Have you had any success with programming a feature where the game controller setting wants you to press two buttons simultaneously (Like L1&R1) and map it to just one of the underbuttons?
Yo this is very helpful im trading my Vantage out for this and so far you are showing me its worth it thank you.
Yeah I figured I like the vantage but its too much of a risk while astro is very reliable
Thank you for the view, comment, and feedback! Glad I was able to help!
Traded my vantage in for this. Miss the four extra button options but not the trading in bcuz of stick drift. Had to get two of them smh
@@SynTechGaming thank you for the response. I already tried the registry trick you are 100% right it just messes everything up
@@LP1990s You're welcome. Yeah that little"hack" totally not worth it lol
Idk if it’s too much to ask but could you leave time stamps for each tip? First pro controller and I keep having to come back
I can try to get this done in the near future, thanks for the idea.
@xt3rminance Thanks! There's a manual!? Where?
@xt3rminance I don't remember reading that but I'll go back & double checking for any other missed info.
How do you turn on the controller
I just press the PS button, ensure it is in the mode wired/wireless that you want.
KSTG Clan if you have not figured out by now, turn in the ps4 or pc then it will allow you to press the ps button and you can play
Lol
It won’t let me reset the controller I messed up. Is there another way to reset to default settings??
Use a paper clip it similar item and press and hold the tiny reset button inside the hole under the programming button for 25 seconds
I like this controller recently started having a lag with the stick
How do you know if it’s fully charged?
Do you happen to know the name of the adapter that lets you use it for xbox also? I heard it was like 40 dollars
I have not heard of one that does this specifically for this controller. The only adapter I know if that might even make this possible is the CronusMax... But I have no idea for sure that this would/wouldn't work... From my understanding though that product can take any wired controller with USB and make it work on any USB console... Hope this helps
Are the analog durable ? I seem to be breaking my left analog all the time atm.
I just plugged my controller in and I'm my device manager the controller is posted under category
Xbox 360 peripherals
And called
Xbox 360 controller for Windows
If yours is saying something else I would uninstall it completely and restart computer and then plug it back up after restart and see what it says
SynTech Gaming I just heard back from Astro gaming, windows 10 is set to Xbox controllers so I had to set the controller like they said and now it works. Thank you for your help bud
@@gdunn1975 No problem, you're welcome!
i was told pressing for 3 seconds then pressing for 3 seconds again right after only recenters them but pressing the back button for 3 seconds and letting it vibrate and flash then leaving it to sit for 30 seconds, it then will vibrate and flash again and then it is recalibrated
I wonder if they will ever allow one button to mimic pressing two buttons like the PS4 strike pack
I don't think they will ever allow this controller to support macro features like this. I believe they intend to keep this controller tournament approved so it can never allow multiple inputs on a single press. Just my thoughts though.
SynTech Gaming they most likely won’t, but it would be nice for fighters and certain shooters.
SynTech Gaming yeah it’s an a10
SynTech Gaming yo I have a problem so my Astro is in wireless mode right and when I’m playing it just beeps in my ear and then disconnects this has happen to me a lot of times while in wireless mode do you know any tips to stop it?????
SynTech Gaming my Astro as in my controller
For some reason I switched the left joystick with the dpad and now the dpad sometimes just gets stuck going right for some reason any ideas?
The dpad does? That's strange, there are a few things I would try in order to resolve this issue.
1. Remove the faceplate and ensure all modules have been properly aligned red line on module lines up with red line in module hole.
2. Do the sick drift recenter, press and hold program button to enter programming mode and without pushing any other button push and hold the programming button again, maybe this will recalibrate the center of the dpad as well.
3. reset the controller using a paperclip size object to press and hold the tiny button (just under the program button)for 30 seconds.
4. Remove and replace the cover on the dpad
5 contact Astro customer support
Hope this helps, if one of these corrects your issue please let me know so that I can help others more efficiently.
@@SynTechGaming it actually hasn't done it in awhile so I'm not too sure
Hey did you get a chance to mess with the dead zone sticks
I have been messing with it some, I would say that a good safe setting is to increase all four options by 5%. I plan to make a video about this later but I think these are good safe settings without getting into many crazy details.
SynTech Gaming Yes I wait to you make a video and take a look at it because I play a lot of shooting games
@@d_dogzgaming8603 Thank you!
You have to update the controller and wireless adapter firmware using a computer. Make sure you download that Astro software and follow the steps Jordan has provided. Let us know if you need more help.
Very good video are you saying that for me to get 100% with the trigger guard up I should push it up to 100
If you are not having issues then you don't have to change it. But if you are having issues with the guard up and the game not registering the triggers then you need to change it to fix it. Also if you want to have the triggers react as fast as possible set them all to 100%
SynTech Gaming I’m not having issues but I just wanna be able to react faster
Fastest reaction for triggers would be setting them to 100% on all options and enabling the trigger stops! This will provide you hair trigger!
Is there a way to combo map the under button like x + o ? I like to play fighting games
No there is no combo/macro commands available on this controller.
Please advise airbear on how to operate the controller he just dropped a video getting all over the controller for stick drift.
I will check out his video as I am watching some of the other review videos. One of the main reasons I haven't put up my review video yet is I want to be very in depth and I am waiting for confirmation on a couple of things to make sure I bring the best content.
Air Bear knew of this solution. He even showed it in his video. To him it was an unnecessary annoyance. I agree but I still love the controller.
Does Cronus max work in this controller and how ?
I have not tested it with Cronus Max, sorry, I don't have one. But from my understanding that thing is supposed to work with any controller that can be used in wired mode.

I’m getting this controller next Friday but I’m having a hard time understanding on the software how you customize the triggers and the thump sticks like as in how do I make it where I want the trigger locks on but want 100% as if it’s not on lock?
