    I loved how the orange juice rose up when you added the baking soda. And I love the tip you gave us about adding some flour to the dried fruit and nuts - to help keep them suspended in the batter rather than sinking to the bottom. And, oh yes, another great tip you shared was spraying the measuring cup with an oil spray to help it pour out !
    Personally, I love the taste of tahini. (I will sometimes eat a spoonful straight from the jar, lol.) This is a very interesting recipe and I intend to try it. I especially appreciate that it can be customized according to what ingredients one has on hand and one's creativity.
    I will remember that you said a combination of orange, cardamom, and dark chocolate is especially wonderful ... another great tip you shared in this video ! This video offers a unique, but customizable recipe (and vegan too!) and so many great tips and ideas !
    Thank you, Dimitra !!!

    Thank you for excellent recipes. More tahini-involvedrecipes please! You have the best home recipes on RUclips. Also that tahini brand supports Palestinian occupation, it’s ok my mom used to buy the same until I informed her. Best is on Amazon but TJs has good stuff as well. Looking forward to more excellent home cooking.

      Yusef Khan thanks so much for letting me know! Are you talking about the organic Kroger brand? Or the tin? The tin was hard as a rock anyway... haha! All the best and thanks for being here 🤗

      Dimitra's Dishes the tin but it’s ok not a huge deal. Thanks so much for the excellent recipes. I’m looking forward as well to seeing excellent Greek summer dishes with fresh vegetables. Greek food is ancient and the best in the world and I appreciate your efforts at bringing it to people’s tastes.

    I tried this today and it turned out amazing. It was soft and cakey on the inside and crisp and cooki-ish on the outside. I love tahini, but mostly in savory foods, I have tried sweet tahini spread and it didn't do it for me. This, however, has a very good blend of flavours so the tahini doesn't overpower it. I loved the orange juice, usually I use plant milk and the cakes can become a bit heavy, but the juice kept it lighter. Really good recipe, thank you for it and also for including vegan dishes on your channel.

    The cake looks nice. Tahini is Arabic word from Tahin which means flour. Tahini is also used in hummus which is also Arabic word means chickpeas.

    I think I'll give this a crack, a cake not full of sugar is a winner. Happy to have the sugars in fruit, but no added sugar is a great thing. Or was that sugar in the mixing bowl with the tahini going on top?

    Hi there, I love your recipe and I tried it. Your explanation is amazing.
    I am wondering why when I cut into it after it is cold, some pieces fell from it. It was not as consistent as yours in the video.
    But it is absolutely delicious!!

    Delicious as always, Dimitra. I remember Tashinobitta in Cyprus in the 50s, the dough was made with flour, and there were long strips which you rolled them into circles with tahini and sugar inside, and baked in the oven. My "yaya" used to make them. Do you have that recipe? Thanks.

    Hi. I should not eat white sugar. Do you think I can use another sweeter? Ex. Honey. Stevia. Monk fruit. Maple syrup? I would like to do this.

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  4 года назад +3

      Yes, you can make your own tahini by toasting sesame seeds and then riding them... I always have tahini in my pantry so, I love to use it as a shortcut. Hope you enjoy this cake!!

      @@DimitrasDishes DD how long and what temperature do you suggest baking the sesame seeds if you want to make the paste.

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  4 года назад

      Andraste Triformis bake them on the center rack at 350 Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes or until slightly golden. They can burn quickly and easily so stay nearby and keep checking them.
