Even though it looks nice It would be cool if they would release a thinner and more modern looking torch model And also theres a new BlackBerry called "BlackBerry Mercury" but the name is not confirmed though
Oh man I got one of these the day they came out. My first ever smart phone (went from a krzr) and I LOVE it! I don't know how I ever lived with out it, and best of all my strong dislike for touch screens is averted with the keyboard and trackpad, but still there the odd time I need it. It's fan-freaking-tastic! In summary, touch screens blow for most things, blackberry made a winning combination by putting them all together.
finally someone with a good review. good quality and I like how you compare the humor with it. You made me verryyyyyyy interested in the phone. Good job, keep up the good work.
thank you so much for this video, helped me out a lot! I'm getting my new and 1st ever blackberry torch tomorrow sometime and am super excited!! thank you for your great review, it really did help me make my decision much easier!
Mine is nearing the end of its lifespan, Cracks all over the screen, bit of a loss of touch capability on the right side, battery having to be charged every other day... Still going! Won't replace it till it dies. Still love this phone.
+Michael Obiabumuo still got mine sitting around .. cant get over how cumfortable it sits in the palm of my hands.. super durable and nice grip. the Rogers home screen is very beautiful to look at ..nice elegant cell phone seems like a lot more effort went into these phones that todays mass producers square box
Changing to Torch 9800 from Curve 8900 was a smart decision for me. I was not keen on the touch screen idea initially. Now, I'm in love with the Torch because I have the option of typing with the non-virtual keyboard while scrolling up/down using the trackpad and selecting any application using touch screen. With practise, you CAN get better at typing on the virtual screen! The major difference is in Options but you'll learn them along the way. I really recommend this phone.
I don't understand why people are complaining about this phone, I got it today and its amazing it not slow and it does not lag and the screen I very clear, there is nothing wrong with it, this is a great phone and I highly reccomended to buy it if your looking to buy a blackberry.
@sinfuldavy0, The redundancy with the keyboard is for people like me. I HATE touch keyboard, but I like to use the apps with touch screen. So, this way people like me get both. The ONLY reason I am still with RIM's Blackberry is that Apple's iPhones don't come with a physical keyboard.
This phone is amazing ! I have a red version and have a sparkly case on the back and front of it. I've had it for a year now and it has never frozen ! Simply AMAZING people who disagree don't know what they're missing
■ Last week, somebody gave me a used Blackberry 9800. I am radio maniac, so the first thing I did was to find the FM Radio. To my surprise, there was no one. ■ I have a Nokia Xpress Music where I can listen to my radio online or offline. ■ Question: Is it possible to install a radio on the Blackberry 9800 where I can listen to it online and offline. Thanks
Hello I just bought one off of Ebay. Can I take the SD card out and swap them without taking out the battery? That's not the only perk I was looking for but the rest is the real package. I will probably love using it. Thank you for letting me queue a question, get back to me, someone with knowledge of the phone.
I just found out that my next work-issued phone will be my choice of either the Torch or the iPhone 4. I do love the bb keypad, and I do a LOT of emailing for my job. But the iPhone has some really kick ass features, not to mention all of those apps. All you crackberry addicts - what do you think I should go for? Honestly... I'm pretty stumped on what phone to get.
the issue of this one i think is the battery. I have the 9780 bold same one used in the vid and it has Li Poly. this one is Ni MH or some other make (i saw in gsm arena). Li Poly lasts longer than other kind of batteries. correct me if im wrong on this. thank you.
i got one of these form amazon, i have to send it back to get a new one. i hope that the second one does not have as many problems as the first one. problems i had? constant freezes, battery will not charge, the key board is mixed up i press z and get y press z and get y ect and that's to name a few.
Im abt to get a Blackberry 9780 white and i've heard good reviews and bad reviews both are equal but i love the look and i love everything abt it but is it a good choice?
@kezz17 If you like the Curve and how it runs and enjoy the keyboard, absolutely go with the Torch. The only things say you should get the iPhone is if you want a phone that has a better display and slightly faster internet. The Torch has most everything (and more) that the iPhone has. If you get sick of the virtual keyboard, the Torch will bail you out. If you are really into apps, the iPhone wins, but the BlackBerry growing all the time. I own the Torch and suggest it, but both are GREAT!
Thank you so so so so much for this review! I have been completely in love with this phone since the day it was said that it was coming, and my mom is getting it for me sometime this or next month, so I am SUPER excited for it!
I got my torch yesterday and I tried to hook it up to my Wi-fi and it does not support hex key for wpa2 personal it only goes 8-63 characters and my pin is 64 characters, how is this a 'feature'?
I just bought the white one yesterday nd it was the best phone decision ive ever made this phone can do it all id recommend this phone over any other on the market
in the uk and i just ordered a torch, but they're out of stock, so im not sure if i should cancel my order and go for a bold 9780 instead. the torch is pretty bulky, but i do like touchscreens
@3urfali you know what I have the same problem, may people say that the signal strength in the torch is sooo bad. Is it true? I really want to buy one.
I loved BlackBerry and miss them still... always loved Kevin's work and glad these are still public viewing. RIM never could get their hardware and software to work well together (among other miscalculations)
It's very responsive from what I saw in the video, but are you only limited to download the apps from Blackberry ? I owned two touch screens, a LG touch, and a Motorola i1 and the i1 was android powered. I loved downloading those apps. Can you download android apps on this BB?
every phone needs a back up plan like this one. My touch screen just stopped working. All I can do now is receive and end calls. If this touch screen stops working, I will still be able to use it. KEY
@josh69539 well the touch screen will not work much, and when using the on screen keyboard it presses a total different letter. Also it is like its not calabrated properly but there is no setting to change it. I have also tried changing the sensitivity but that didnt work.
Can i get this at Rogers with no add-on or data plan? i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want either this Bold 9780 or curve 9300. I loooove Blackberrys and i text alot, call, pics and occasionaly go on the browser. Im a teenager and i would likely buy this outright so i dont have to restart my contract. HELP AND ANSWER BACK PLEASE!
My contract for my phone will be up in October and i want to get this phone but i dnt want to get it if they are going yo be coming out with an updated version of the torch soon after that. do u kno if they are?
I'm officially in love. Thank you SO much for the review. It was only lacking how much it costs. No worries, though, it won't be hard to find out. I am SO getting this phone.
Hi i got this phone today and my rouch screen is playing up. Please tell me what your sensitivity tap interval and your hover period is. Pleeeeaaaassseee
Hi, I currently have the iphone 3G and it's getting old and tired now. Should I go for the BlackBerry Torch or iphone 4? Or wait for the iphone 5? and why? Thanks for any help!
I've been using the curve 8520 for the past two years... awful awful phone but it finally broke so now I get a replacement. The 9800 happens to be a free replacement, so mines on its way now. Wish me luck.
i need to ask you a question in the shops they say that they have complains about the torch thats it gets stuck alot nd users say that too soo im buying a mobile today and i wanna know shall i get the torch or baby bold the new software ?
@pahummer Yes, it is, i know you'd think it's not normal, but its solid and won't break if u use it the right way.... You can fasten it but its hard to do because you have to open it and it will void your warranty.
@olieo57 The salesman was probably either an Apple or Android fanboy. I have an Iphone 3gs and I bought a Torch for work. I have to say I was suprised as to how much I love the Torch. I have had it now for about 6 weeks and I have not had a single problem with it and I am a heavy user. You wont be disappointed.
i just love this phone!! my 1st blackberry and it fits into my hand well superb for texting and the music volume is pretty good. the display is hott and the free radio app on the phone can be heard via a regular hg bluetooth! sweet!! i havent had this phone for a week and i absolutely love it!
I don't know why blackberry got rid of this design I feel like it was the best of both worlds
Its back! MWC 2015

Mine is nearing the end of its lifespan, Cracks all over the screen, bit of a loss of touch capability on the right side, battery having to be charged every other day...
Still going! Won't replace it till it dies. Still love this phone.
I needed a secondary phone for calls a day text only. And didn't want to spend in a smartphone. Then i found this for $4 at my local Thrift store.
That still sell BIS these days??
My brother had the Blackberry Torch and of the many phones he has had, this was his all time favorite.
this is the best blackberry they ever made. i had one up till 2013 when i got my iPhone 5.
+Michael Obiabumuo got this phone in august 2010. loved it until I accidentally slammed it in the car door :-(

Look at the Priv! Honestly it's a true "spiritual successor" to the Torch. I love mine!

I got this phone for free in a Target bin!!
Great memories, my first BlackBerry was the 9800. Bought it to use in conjunction with the Playbook which never lived up to its promise.
This phone is amazing ! I have a red version and have a sparkly case on the back and front of it. I've had it for a year now and it has never frozen ! Simply AMAZING people who disagree don't know what they're missing

i got mine yesterday!!!! its probably one of the the best cell phones i´ve ever had!!!!
It may be an old phone but I still love how it looks. Trying to decide between this or 9700.
Currently I'm using a simple flip-top cellphone, but I hope to get a Blackberry just like this one; I'm impressed.

now see man, this is called a good review! You can see the phone, you can hear the guy, you get right to the point...well done.

I'm commenting this on the Torch 9800 but are the Back and Power buttons supposed to be lit up because mine aren't?
Kevin if there was one thing that you could change on the torch what would it be ?
You sound so Canadian and i LOVE it! Thanks for the awesome review!
when you slide the phone to use it's keyboard and you start typing.. is the weight to it uncomfortable?
how long does the slider typically last if i take care of it and not be too rough with it?
does the camera have flash? because i really hate the fact that the curve 8520 doesn't have a flash. but i like that track pad.
What BlackBerry do you think I should get? Torch, Bold or Curve? Please respond back because im not sure at all.
What should I get Blackberry Torch 9800 or Blackberry Bold 9700? And Red 9800 or Black?
is the java torch good as well or is it bad cause i might get and it is alot cheeper at 69 pounds off ebay
@kezz17 If you like the Curve and how it runs and enjoy the keyboard, absolutely go with the Torch. Hey, when does the torch get in stores at tmobile ?
And, are they developing a new blackberry now?( and what one)
Please respond quickly
@3urfali you know what I have the same problem, may people say that the signal strength in the torch is sooo bad. Is it true? I really want to buy one.
Okk, its either this the Blackberry Torch or the Blackberry Bold? which one?
what's the different between black, white and red torch? Is the memory capacity?
Not sure where you got that BOLD but its not at all like mine, the new torch keyboard is exactly like the bold 9700.
is AT&T an American only company? coz i'm English and i want BlackBerry Torch and dont know whether i would get the 4GB memory card with it.
when does the bb 9780 come to at&t?
and should i get the black blackberry 9700 or the white blackberry 9700?!
appreciate a reply
what is the durability of this thing like in comparison to the bold?
should i buy this for £160 my friend is selling one, is it better than an xperia on android?
they say it gets scratched easily? is that true?
hi, how much is the market value of this one right now?the white one?thx
I loved BlackBerry and miss them still... always loved Kevin's work and glad these are still public viewing. RIM never could get their hardware and software to work well together (among other miscalculations)
@DiscClub6 how is it????is bb torch really is bad as many people say it is?
Does it have the strap hole under the battery cover like the bold and the tour?

My first phone. It brings back so many memories.
Which is better? Curve or Bold cuz i getting one 4 my b'day but i dont no what 1 to get
i was wondering are you able to put a password on the screen so when you unlock the touch screen you have to type a password in to get further access.
i wanna buy white blackberry but im scared it will become yellowish color after a few months :/ how?
@josh69539 well the touch screen will not work much, and when using the on screen keyboard it presses a total different letter. Also it is like its not calabrated properly but there is no setting to change it. I have also tried changing the sensitivity but that didnt work.

do you think the torch is better than the bold?
i have heard that the torch freezes alot? is this true and should i get one :S
why do you need a touch screen keyboard and a physical one?
Hi, I currently have the iphone 3G and it's getting old and tired now. Should I go for the BlackBerry Torch or iphone 4? Or wait for the iphone 5? and why?
