I just recently got the Blackberry Torch and I can honestly say that it is amazing. I'm so addicted because there's just so much to do! I love it! Totally recommended.
@Jaijai311 The new BlackBerry 7 devices will be out in a few weeks. RIM has done some OS and the web browser improvements. If you can wait, check out the new devices and see which one you prefer on price vs. new features, etc.
@BLITZ0017 BBM uses the data connection rather than your text message plan, and it only works with other BlackBerry phones. You can't BBM an Android user or an iPhone.
Good, instructive video. I've done a couple of these myself, and they can be tough work. So good job there. I also love the references to cats and Faulty Towers. At 11:17, the scratch on Torch-owner's hand suggests she has very playful kitty-cats. I usually have at least one such scratch on my own hand.
@MobileTechReview Hey just wondering, by saying "The new BlackBerry devices will be out in a few weeks", do you mean a new range of the models? I might be getting this Blackberry Torch tomorrow but will not want it if a new one would be released shortly after, please write back as soon as possible! Thankyou!
have a torch coming tommorow...the five-o have my iphone but i always wanted a blackberry anyway...so next week ill comment on what i think is better as ill be an owner of each by them...what i wanted to know in the meantime though is do you have to use the torch with the phone slid up and revealing its keyboard so you can use all the phone and features?
Enuff respect 2 U... It's not EVERYDAY that you see an American enjoying a British comedy. Epsecially comedy which, John Cleese works with 'Farce' A- Fawalty Towers B- A fish called Wanda C- Monty Python THAT particular Fawalty Towers episode was 'Gormet Night'... Classic WELL DONE love the review Keep up the good work...
Do you still need to have a Blackberry data plan for the phone to be able to do basic internet related tasks? I hate that about Blackberry, everyone else allows you to just use Wifi if you don't want to get a data plan.
Lisa, would you still recommend this phone at a cheaper price over the new Bold and Torch that's due out soon? Also, I've read a bunch of user reviews that say that when you are making phone calls, the screen doesn't turn off therefore you end up pressing buttons with your cheeks and what not. Did you experience any of those issues during your time with this phone?
Got this phone not so long ago&its awesome.I had a reg BB b4 this (8900&9330).Major improvement may I say. I recommend this phone 2 everyone. If you're new 2 the BB,it may be a little hard 2 adjust 2 this phone 4 maybe the first few days, but you'll get the hang of it.I honestly wanted the Iphone but I realized I was going 2 miss all my BBM friends&so I got the Torch.Camera for this phone I was amazed. It has a 5mp cam just like the Iphone !! :)
I will be upgrading my phone soon and I am deciding between the bb torch and the captivate. I have never had a touch screen phone ( I know kinda lame lol) I have always been with my trusty samsung jack and its time for a change. Which phone has a better battery life?
I'm looking into getting a Torch but I'm wondering how much bandwidth using something like the police scanner app would use from your data plan if you had it running for a while (since it's streaming live feed)
Blackberry should stick to button phones. They are the only company that had balls to actually make a phone with buttons at a time when touch screens are popular. Keep it going Blackberry!
whats better to buy? the blackberry torch or the HTC desire z? I really want a good phone that will be worth the extra money. i've never owned a blackberry but i hear there good
I have tried more then dozen mobile, this is the best. Most easy one; everything organized in simple straight logic, even like me, not very smart in tech, can use this phone like chopsticks...thanks BB
i haven't actually used one but it looks like it sucks. What would be a reason to buy one of these over an identically priced iphone or android device? or aren't there any, and blackberry has just fallen behind?
Ive had touchscreen phones before, never been impressed ie fingerprints or warm fingers make it had to navigate, have to wipe it all the time is this any better?
I'm going from an verizon envy, 2 yup 2, to possibly this or a more simple blackberry. I have an iPod touch and so I dnt want an iPhone and my friend complained about his android. So would u recommend the torch or a simpler model like the bold?
Mobile Tech Review, I went on TELUS's website (btw I'm from Canada) and many reviews said that the Torch freezes A LOT! Is that true? Because I am looking into a phone for me.
@4YaPloNo1 No :) You can use the touch screen for texting too. In all fairness you dont need to use the slide out keyboard at all if you didnt want to x
@Smilealwaysya It looks like HTML5 is the way to go in the future. Adobe has said they'd stop developing Flash for mobile platforms, but will support what's currently out. The new and future BlackBerry devices all support HTML5.
I'm thinking about getting one, this would be my 1st cellphone like every! so i'm very nervous about this buy, need more help and to do more research before I make a 3 year commitment since that's how long i have to have a contract with the company I'd be getting it through. any advice on what's a good starter phone? my nephew has a Samsung galaxy and loves it but the majority of ppl i know have a blackberry and swear by them, I'm so confused help!
I have a iphone 3g atm and had it coming up to 3 years. And im thinking of getting this phone. Is it worth getting it or just keep my iphone? Someone please answer. Thanks:D
Heyaa. Im going to get a blackberry in a few weeks and wondered if people could help me? At the moment im looking at either the torch or the curve 3G. What do people think? Which of these is better? Thanx in advance x
Between an Iphone 4, This, and the HTC Surround (Windows 7 phone) which should I get. I use it mostly for texting, playing games, watching videos and listening to music. I already have an ipod touch, so I dont think the iphone 4 would be the best choice. Btw I'm 15, so Its not like i need it for business or anything.
Just picked up a Bold on Verizon coming off an Android Eris. It seems that RIM's approach is to give priority to the phone first, extras second which is what I was looking for (the Eris didn't even have a proper voice dialing feature, which is ridiculous on touch-screen-only devices). Love OS 6 so far. It was a snap to setup Gmail and Facebook, and the notifications are unobtrusive and consolidated. Everything is very intuitive and the UI is minimalistic and snappy.
So i got this BlackBerry yesturday and so far i love it. Although my contract hasnt started yet so im not able to send or recieve texts, phone anyone, go on the internet or use BBM. Pfft :/ so i shall write again once i can paste an accurate review after being able to use them :)
Best phone review I have seen yet
I liked your comment so you can see it ten years later
@slipknotforlife Yes, call AT&T and tell them you want it unlocked, they will unlock it for you.
@MariiiClaare Yes, the BB Torch 9810 is a newer model with OS 7. Check out our review of the Torch 9810.
@INDIEbritain Stayed tuned for more coverage on the new BlackBerry 7 devices in the coming weeks. We can't say more than that, but they are coming.
Great looking blackberry! Thanks RIM

@chezzaxcroucher Yes, it does. Since the phone is over 1 year old, pricing varies depends on where you buy it from.
Mine was ordered last night! So excited :)

I have never had a problem with my Torch. It has been one of my favorite phones. While it may not suite everyone,it suits me quite well
@AfroThundr54230 BlackBerry Torch phones don't have front camera for video chat, never had and the newest Torch 9850 still doesn't.

While using aim for blackberry or INstant messaging apps do they count to the $15 data plan or instant messaging????
