Small update of my experiences working on a water damaged BB, for those interested:
Even about 2 months after the accident, still helps to leave it in isolated container of rice for 2 days. Then phone did start up, but powered off randomly. Left it to rest for a few days in a dry dark place, powered it up, it stayed on. Left it unused powered on for 2 days then 1 day of normal use: kept powering off.
Drenched mainboard in pure alcohol about 2 mins. Now working normally for 2 consecutive days.

This is such a great video! Thanks, it really helped me changing my BB Torch housing to a white one! But I still have a slight problem and question to make. What about the connection wire of the keypad. It doesn't come with the new housing and it seems to be stuck to the previous/old housing. What should I do?

El video es muy completo y está bien señalizado, para realizar el ensamble correcto, sin embargo hay algo que no lo colocan o explican. Al inicio podemos percatarnos que las tres carcasas no son iguales, la roja ya tiene sensores de los botones(color blanco) instalados cosa que no explican en ninguna parte acerca de como instalarlos

I got a Torch 9800 from a friend that had been dropped in the water about two months ago. I disassembled the back, the rim on the side but I stopped at the mainboard and stuck it in uncooked rice for two days.
It does start up...sometimes but powers off irregularly. I didn't proceed when I came across the mainboard because I was afraid that I would need extra tools.
I have a case opener tool and a set of T screwdrivers, but no adhesive or such. Could I manage to place a new mainboard in?

Enough, if you do it like in this video, the chance is big to ruin your phone. Normally special gloves are used to reduce the chance of an static electric pulse destroying the mainboard. When changing the caps of the BlackBerry, your factory warranty will also stop because there are stickers on the inside that get scratched when removing the caps. Showing the fabricant that you have (dis)assembled the phone. Very stupid to try this at home.
