the last 5 mins, just turn me back to the old 90s. Such a nostalgia, Truly miss these days, everything was clearly beautiful, no Facebook, no smartphones. Just your old PC and enjoy playing on it.
I have done this so many times for so many friends' "garage finds", I've lost count, but never with such outstanding detailing and re-use of original parts. Deepest respect sir. Sure do miss getting my hands dirty though (but not in the spiderweb/dustbunny sense).
In the summer of 1999, my grandpa bought a brand new IBM computer with a 450 MHz Pentium III processor. His computer looked almost identical to this one. It had integrated audio like this one, but it had an nVidia AGP card for the video. I think his had a 10 GB Maxtor HD, but it’s been a long time, so I don’t remember the exact specs. At the time, I still only had a 150 MHz Pentium 1 at home, so I was very excited to try out all of the games that ran slowly at home. It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since then. Back then, when I was still a teenager, a 20 year old computer meant an 8088 processor running at 4.77 MHz, no hard drive, and CGA or Hercules graphics pouring out of an amber screen. It’s amazing how little computers have advanced in the past 20 years when you consider the previous 20 years of advancement that came before it.
@@andygozzo72 Yep, just what I was thinking. I worked for IBM in those days and we tore down hundreds (thousands?) of lease return PCs to harvest the motherboards (or planars as IBM called them) for service parts to repair capacitator plague machines.

But these 300's are a part of my memories working there.
Good restoration. You're lucky you didn't receive an IBM system from just a year or two later from the Pentium 3 era because those things were horrible. They had basically 100% failure rates from the capacitor plague and IBM's own "Deathstar" hard drives. I remember having to repair dozens of those crap machines back in the day. When they were still under warranty from IBM and you sent in a Deskstar drive, they'd actually send you back a Maxtor drive because theirs were so bad. Maxtor drives weren't much better and they usually failed in short order as well, but it was often outside the remaining warranty period so they could wash their hands of the matter.
@@deere3350 the black Netvista mid towers, yep. The capacitors on the motherboard and in the power supply would always fail. Sort of like the Dell Optiplex GX and SX series in the 2x0 line.
@@illussiondark You can use 20 pin psu on 24 pin motherboard, but most of the newer cpu/ motherboards consume more power than required for 20 pin and they can burn the connectors, because these 4 pin distribute electricity between them so they don't get hot. @@ivaniliev2272 Actually interestingly most new PSUs can't work on older machines due to voltage pull differences. Older P3 and AMD varients like to pull 30-80W from the 5V rail and new PSUs aren't designed for that much pull especially sudden.
@@illussiondark Not really correct. ATX power supplies have changed significantly over the past 20+ years, with the biggest difference being which power rails most of the power budget is available. There was a design change that started in the early 2000s where CPUs moved from being powered from the 5v rail to the 12v rail because it was more efficient for the higher power demands seen by the Pentium 4 and Athlon. PSU manufacturers then started adjusting the power rail load limits to move more of the overall power budget to the 12v rail and less on the 5v and 3.3v rails. This eventually lead to the situation we have today where almost all of the modern power supplies' capacity is in the 12v rail(s), and very little is allocated to the 5v and 3.3v rails. So when you try to power an old system with a power hungry CPU with a modern PSU, it can result in the PSU constantly shutting down from overloads on the 5v and 3.3v rails. If you look at a 15-20 year old power supply, you may see one where the 5v rail is rated at 30-50 amps, where a more modern PSU will only have 15-25 amps. The internal topology of power supplies has also changed significantly, from the old crappy inefficient half-wave group regulated output designs to modern APFC designs with buck regulated output.

@@antonio_pripizduchi2157 Ну эт вы тоже подзагнули! 👍😁🤪
Amazing. Even get cool rusted pci slots

No one talks about the title of the video ? it seems interesting
I was gonna say... LOL.
Super. I have an iMac case and looking at you I wanted to build it into a gaming pc. Thank you.
Made in Taiwan
Not designed in Taiwan by asus?
@@Madscientist4567
OF COURSE IT'S NOT ASUS
OLD IBM WAS MADE BY ACER
NOW IT DIVIDE TO Wistron
Nice restore
I would have worried about caps on the motherboard and power supply
But it seems robust
Well done
Systems with no hangs and smooth, fast working
Awesome job! I had one DIY PC with Pentium 166MHz CPU & Quantum Fireball HDD 640MB forget how much RAM it is, especially i remember the network adapter is BNC not RJ45. Learing Red Hat Linux & play Red Alert at that time... That's all gone with the wind...
Cheirinho de nostalgia ❤️❤️❤️
Why silver if the pc was cream color? But nice work
I like silver, haha
@@MRNVCDIY could use beige cream color paint if needed
watching listening to top rock hits 98 on Spotify was a trip back in time. nostalgia.
I am still using and HP D530 desktop running XP Pro. around 21 years old. Works fine.
I also have an old athalon at least as old that I run win98SE on.
Have neither hooked to net so safe.
Yes
Veery good job mate. You are really professional. Congrats!
my father had the same PC on 1997...but have an CD rom.... what a nostalgic memory...
18:30 só no pornozão né safado?. 😏 kkkkkk mito
Br por aqui perdido kkkkkk
Feel nostalgia....miss those days....
Great restoration!! Did anyone else pay attention to what was on the hard drive?
gteat job bro
u return my old memories when i am using win 98
and the biggest achievement on that days the drivers installation 😍😂
Thanks a lot. you took me back to my childhood days.
its refreshing to see he didn't find it trashed in a random place
NICE My high school computer is such a good memory
I still can't get over the fact that this piece of junk still actually works. Very cool vid.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane
It's the most reliable of the restore channel. This is not a fake.
I have a question. 4:23 There is a yellow box, and the company is written in Korean. In literal translation, "Yeongjin Electric Co., Ltd."
Where did you get it from?
I had the exatcly same configuration!! Nice!
This was the first PC I had by my self.. With an 8 MB graphic card.. It was the gaming PC of that era.. I played Tomb Raider 1-4 on it.. lol
Thank you for bringing back great memories.
i have so much memories with this IBM Model 😢
I have also one Medion on my attic with 386 1GHZ and 256MB ram. I did recordings from my sat receiver and editing to remove commercials from films and concerts, recording mp3 music drawings, scans, bookkeeping
and office software. Nowadays you need at least for 4GB. Most people never heard of MS-Dos.
IBM doesn´t produce Personal Computers anymore and has Lenovo to produce laptops.
So this one is ready for a museum. Maybe it is more worth than one ever has paid for.
1998: The year I bought my first PC with my own money! Those were the days!!
