Just bought a white 2024 Canyon AT4X - traded in a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe - super excited to pick it up in a few days! I wanted an AEV version but both it and the ZR2 Bison are the real unicorns.
And the Tacoma teases pictures of blue tooth speakers 😂
It’s still Taco day bruh 😂
GM did a great job w/ this new Canyon. 👍🏻
Love it. Had I had more money, I would have sprung for the Canyon AT4X instead of the ZR2. Can't see the $6K price difference but I love the interior of the AT4X, by far, the most.
I like the ZR2 body more IMHO. More aggressive. This is slightly softer. I think you picked right. I agree not sure where the 4K difference comes in.
@@TheLumberJacked Yeah. I totally love my ZR2. Not disappointed at all.
That's a killer interior, very cool seat color scheme.
Offroad trucks are great. But at the price, I'd much much rather fly through those trails on a $5000 ATV at 10x less cost and have 10x more fun
Who has the money to buy a $50K+ truck and beat on it like that? At that point, it is so much money, you don't want to use it like that any more.
@@godwhomismike That's the reason I am getting a ZR2...
@@chadbrinkley6358 lol for what, $48k+? Whoopdeedoo
@@andrewsbbq $52,720 and I'm going to hit the trails and drive the hell out of it!
@@chadbrinkley6358 $52k is a lot for a toy
One of very few vehicles to have a front locker. Arguably one of the best off-roaders available
Pickups always have long overhangs, long wheelbases, and more weight up front, and poorer articulation than a Bronco or Wrangler, which makes them inherently not the best. But as far as pickups go, should be good.
Ford uses a Torsen differential on a number of their trucks. The Torsen may be better for a front axle as it improves steering over a locking front axle.
I had a 2017 ZR2 Colorado. It was pretty good offroad, when it was running correct. Lol. Clunks, window problems, heater went out, USB charging ports worked randomly, some dash lights went out. It was horrible.
@@buckhorncortez from Mike Levine “With advancements in suspension, shocks, tires and new tech like Trail Control, Trail 1-Pedal Drive and Trail Turn Assist, the Torsen diff is no longer an option because it doesn't provide the kind of customer benefit it did when it was on the Gen 1 Raptor over a decade ago.”
@johnny ringo I've had nearly 30000 flaw free miles with my 2021 Colorado ZR2. Just minor stuff like interior panel rattles and piss poor headlights and interior lights that I swapped out for LEDS.
I'm glad all of these folks on RUclips are able to get their hands on this truck. None of them have hit a dealership in the state of MA where I live still.
I actually saw one in southeastern Mass on 195 the other day, it was a Z71 and it looked really good. Then the next day I saw a Trail Boss in Rhode Island. The Trail Boss looks fantastic! I can't afford these trucks, but I do really like them and I think the Tacoma is going to have to be really special to compare.
I miss the days when you could afford a new offroad vehicle and not feel guilty to do even some softroading
Whatchu talking about? I offroad my 17 frontier sv every week. I don't even have a lift or skid plates. 🤣 I do have some aggressive Ling Long Mud terrain tires 265/7516. It rips through mud. I am not evening doing it for fun but for work. They always destroy these land parcels with backhoes and rut and soften it all up. Then it rains and becomes a boggy soft mudhole. Take it to the carwash after and it looks brand new again.
Yeah but nobody is gonna buy a $50K+ brand new Truck and take it off road. I wouldn’t if I spent that much money, I rather just get a ATV more fun and 10X cheaper.
@@asteiner9181 For the price of a side by side you can buy a used frontier v6 4wd.
@@asteiner9181 that's the whole point, they cost $50K+ now
@@chrisad1177 yeah I agree with you man, I personally got an older Tacoma for off-roading and doing bush truck stuff. The new trucks are very nice but I couldn’t justify dropping that kind of money and beat it up off roading.
Front lockers are a game changer..
Truck looks amazing
1200lbs payload? That's pretty good for an off-road midsize truck!
Love how they put all the white accents around what you touch with dirty hands.
The banjo music is a nice touch.
Its cool GM used two ends of the off-road spectrum to show off the new Colorado ZR2 and Canyon AT4X. The ZR2 was an all out desert run across hundreds of miles. The AT4X a slog through heavy forest. Since they're essentially the same truck besides some interior and exterior styling changes it showcases their all around capability.
Thanks Andry! Nice to see GMC is working on fielding some nice off-road trucks.
Thank you for watching.
@@TFLoffroadjust a heads up the non permitted bypass that gm cut there caused the trail to be shut down after GM was done. So all the local guys lost another trail.
When the truck comes back two-tone is when you know you're having fun 😂 3:28
I love how they always act like it’s a crazy tough crazy trail 😂
Exactly, i could take a Toyota Camry thru 90% of the trails they consider difficult.
GMC/Chevy rolled out some good looking mid-sizers! Im waiting to see what the new Ranger is like. The Tacoma is a fine truck but Toyota is always so "safe" with their designs and their mechanics. The new Raptor Ranger with the 3.0l TT V6 should be the way to go!
We just published our 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor video.
@TFLoffroad I saw it! First off, you guys do a 5 ⭐️ job on your videos. Not just the editing but the content is elite. Secondly, the Raptor Ranger looks awesome! It's the perfect size for most people and it's capable enough to both work and play.
Cmon gm, throw the 6.2 in that canyon Denali and I’m all over it!
I think GM and Ford are going to have their feelings hurt when the new ground up redesign of the Tacoma comes out on the 19th. GM never innovates they just play catch up. The finally caught up to the Tacoma for about 4 months.....
lol When was the last time the Taco was refreshed? They've been behind in engines, transmissions and rear brakes for what? More than a decade?
This GMC is one of the best looking, most capable trucks on the market. Not sure why Toyota is outselling these vehicles. It’s not because they are more reliable, the last two Toyotas I bought were lemons. Great job General Motors!
one of the best looking trucks out there
As I grew up in North Carolina I just always remember hearing GMC made a great truck it was strong and reliable.
Another great video Andre you are the best when testing trucks !!! 😊
Thank you for the kind words.
Not sure I would want any white on the interior of an off-roader. Seems like something that would get easily stained. Truck is a knockout though, very good looking.
GM midsized trucks are looking great. Still can’t trust them for reliability though. Will have to wait a few years to see how they fair against Toyota and I know that’s setting the bar really high, but that’s what anyone should want from an off road vehicle; reliability.
GM Reliability is good, goof. What are you talking about? I know so many people that have Toyotas and have lots of problems. Your information is wrong. GM trucks are so much better than anything Toyota ever puts out.
Reliability has been very good with the 2nd Gens, sure, you hear the trans complaints, but it not a failure problem, just a minor drivability problem that easily overcome. A few have broken Drive shafts and CV's but can happen to any truck if abused off road. Starting to see the 2nd Gen LFX and LGZ with 300K
@@wint_62 no modern truck has good reliability toyota has issues sure but gmc has alot more those turbo engines especially and there transmissions besides that they are fine.
The new toyotas and new gm are pretty close in reliability compared to 1st and even 2nd gens
@@wint_62 eh. As a gen 2 ZR2 owner it's okay. Rear shocks get bashed bad design. Interior is as cheap as it gets, already failing. Then there is the transmission, it's flat out bad. Non stop hunting for gear. Multiple shifts jerking you around. It's my number 1 complaint.
Cant beat the interior and exterior design
Ranger Raptor will be it’s competition. Can’t wait to see a head to head battle video!
Looks like Dickey Bell trail, so much fun. Been there a few times. It's also a Jeep certified trail.
I thought the same, but with it being near Asheville it has to be another trail. Hurricane Creek?
Thanks guys 👏👏👏....hope everybody has a good day ...✌️
Thank you.
Would love to see a comparison between all the new mid-size trucks coming out - new Ranger, new Ram offering, new Tacoma, new Colorado.
My fav truck atm....Hey Andre, quick question. I am assuming the truck you were driving had cruise control? 😂Sorry, I had to go there lol. Thanks for the video!
😂
Yes. 😒 it had cruise control.
@@TFLoffroad 😂
Living the fantasy, guys. Well done, Roman.
For mud drive You really should air down to at least 16psi. More control, more safety and less chances to side slide...
Yeah but that was an evet soni doubt that was possible
This truck is really nice 👍
Having driven the highest output now, are you going to flash the Trail Boss?
I really wish they had an SUV version of this. It would be two-feet shorter in length and be able to turn around on a trail. Going from Tacoma to 4Runner, I can vouch that it enables you to turn around when you have to...!
Yes! Build this in an SUV body, and people would be lining up to get it. I currently have a 5th gen 4Runner, but I like everything about this truck better, except for the fact that it's a pickup. I don't need a pick up, I like the enclosed cargo area for my dogs and gear. Wranglers and Broncos are too expensive, and I don't like the removable roofs, and pretty sure the next 4Runner is going to suck. This could be a great opportunity for GM.
@@trailrunnah8886 I agree and also have a gen 5 4Runner TRD PRO… I think we are more likely to get an updated 4Runner than an suv version of this. We want a GMC Jimmy!
@@mononeo Yeah, I have a wish list of things that I would like to see on the next 4Runner, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. I mostly like my 4Runner, to me the worst part about it is the powertrain, I really don't like the power delivery of the 4.0. I'd also like bigger wheel wells in order to fit 35-in tire with simple mods, unlike the trouble that we have to go to now to even fit a 33. Seeing Wranglers and Broncos with 35s stock is a little painful haha.
I really like the new dash and screens on these trucks.
Love this truck love that silver one
As far as “stock” off-roaders GM has the best in the market! I hope this time they won’t be underrated again.
Wow is that crazy expensive for a midsize truck!
Is it though? Remember this is the top, most off-road capable trim. Tacoma TRD Pro is priced similarly. Higher trims of the Bronco (if you can even get one) and Jeep Gladiator Rubicon are priced even higher.
Nice video and thanks for your input. Just can' believe the prices of these trucks. All of the electronics are awesome and cool but lingterm just scares me.
Thank you for watching.
2010 Raptor - $38,995
Love it, guys! I kinda want one, but i want a Jeep more!
Thanks Andre
He's impressed by those rock thrower tires, yet those are the first things the Bronco guys take off
Love the new canyon!
Don't know why some people are complaining about the price, I actually think it's pretty good.. considering a half ton with close to the same options is close and or over 100k that definitely wouldn't be as capable off road.
Great video! I love that interior
Is there a second interior option? The red/white for the mall crawlers, and something else for people who will actually go off road and be dirty.
Yeah if u don't get the at4x option.
Can't wait to get my edition 1! Build date of June 5th
Wow, 57k for a mid size? They just pushing these prices higher every year.
Right! I've never heard someone say its a good price but yet people buy them up. Crazy
This is the top trim. A comparable Tacoma TRD Pro, Bronco or Gladiator costs about the same if not more.
People keep buying them unfortunately is the problem
Amazing job GM. If only there were another Hummer based on this platform...
Thanks. Another great video.
Doesn’t MT mean mud terrain tyre whilst AT means all terrain tyre ? I know when I worked for Coopers this was always the case.
The new Cayon and Colorado are looking really good on these new models, & everyone keeps saying are they gonna be as good as the Toyota's, well Toyota's aren't what they use to be by no means especially the Tundra's with engine, turbo & rear-end troubles.
That mud hole wasn't that bad, it looked bad but had a solid floor in it. Andre could've done it easily just by crawling.
Very neat look to this truck. Not bad power numbers either 🤙🏽
That winch is the main selling point for me. May not need it but once but that one time can be a huge deal. The other is the crash bar up front. I'll hit a deer about once every two years on average around here. The repair averages about $4,000 and two weeks or so without my truck. If the bar on that truck is stout, all that money and lost time with a truck could be avoided.
Nathan needs to be doing this video
Welcome to NC!
I'll keep myTremor for the time being. We'll see how these hold up in the coming years.
We're you able to tell if the turbo max had a noticeable increase in power as opposed to your Colorado?
No, I was not able to tell a big difference. Perhaps it's because the AT4X also has larger and heavier tires when compared to my Colorado Trail Boss.
Lookes like you all might have been off roading up in Madison county by max parch road area.
The Tacoma killer.
"Send IT!!" lol...
have the look of first edition seats. Why didnt gmc make rear seats to fold down flat in rear for added space? Grab handles..where are they front and rear?
You finally did the type of off roading the rest of us do.
edition one is 90K CAD that is crazy for a mid sized
Soaking your beautiful new synthetic winch rope with than kind of muddy water hurt me in my soul a little. I know…don’t worry about me guys. With time and prayer I will get over it…
Nevermind, yep North of Asheville. Can you share the tail name? Near Old Fort?
I would love to buy one but reliability and the lack of a 6ft bed option will keep me with Toyota.
Reliability isn't much of an issue with the Colorado and canyon as you think. I know they have their own little faults and quirks like thier 90s shitbox interiors and some having a rough shifting or shudder issues with the 8 spd Trans (not all....but some). But the 🌮ma isnt without its faults either. I know of dozens of happy 2nd gen Colorado ZR2 owners that have gotten over 100 thousand flawless free miles out of their trucks with just minor repairs. Both Diesel and gas variants. It all comes down to proper maintenance and how you drive it. My 2021 ZR2 has nearly 30k trouble free miles, and I'm looking forward to eventually buying a new ZR2 or AT4X IN 2024.
@@LPM84. I understand and I’m not hating on GM by any means because I do like vehicles from all the big auto manufacturers, and in todays world any vehicle should run 200k miles relatively problem free, and an extended warranty is always an option if needed. The lack of a 6ft bed kills it for me though unfortunately, as a mid size truck with a 6ft bed is perfect for my needs as I’m not hauling around a family in it, don’t tow much, and don’t want a full size but still need the utility of a 6ft bed and going with a full size is just too much/too expensive for my needs. I’m sure you will love the 2024 though, GM seems to have knocked this truck out of the park.
Toyota can’t tow 7700. No comparison.
@@stevehoward3981 I don’t need towing capacity, I need a 6ft bed that is actually useful 🤷♂️ if I consistently towed 7700lbs I would not be looking at a midsize truck.
Did it come with cruise control?
After driving the Trail boss and now the AT4 what’s ur thoughts comparing the 2?? Tia
Nice, too expensive. The white offset looked good in the interior; however, I had a car with a white interior. Hard to keep clean! Probably going to be tough to keep that white clean IF the truck is used how it is designed and built to be used.
It’s priced pretty competitively against Tacoma, Bronco and Gladiator
@@LaunchpadGP Yes, those are the mid-size trucks it competes against. They can be expensive too.
Can we get shirts made that say "I wish I had cruise control" with TFL logo 😅
Looks like a 4x4 online magazine test in Australia
Yeah I agree the AUX switches are in a bad position but at least it has CRUISE CONTROL!!!!!! 😂
It sounds like a lawn mower convention.
I'm from east coast originally. I've wheeled Uwharrie national forest, and done the Land Rover off road school at the Biltmore. That looked like Uwharrie?
Id like to ask, why didn't you buy the the new canyon AT4X? Man, that looks like a nice truck and even better option than the Colorado or even the Tacoma.
80% talking 10% driving 10% off roading . They should change the channel name to TFL talking about off roading
Really wish my 2023 Sierra AT4X has a Baja mode. Must be th $80k isn't enough to cover the added expense of an extra drive mode.
This or a Ranger Raptor?
In person these look better imo although the ranger raptor is cool
@@EGGINFOOLSranger raptor is wide as hell
So it's the Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss but on GMC.
This looks like the mountains of NC. Am I right?
Where in NC is this?
wow they made double lockers trucks. Real step on Tacoma market . How is space on back?
How is it different than a Colorado ZR2?
You guys have now had like 12 videos about the Canyon and Colorado twins. It's exhausting! Enough with those trucks!
You know you don’t have to watch them!!! No one is holding a gun to your head
@@samiaziz2665 Exactly, plus they are still making videos of other vehicles also. TFL puts out several videos everyday this guy is crying because they are covering a new truck that was just released.
the bull bar should be slightly smaller to not cover the gmc badge.
Hey Andre,
Have you guys considered actually going in a baja race?
I heard a squeaky sound when hill climbing
Would love to see how that bed rail system works
We will do more with this soon.
Trucks look so good way better than last gen..,reliability will be determined.but who in there right mind would pay 54+thousand for a mid size truck 🤦♂️
Great truck! Terrible price😒
So whats the difference between at4x and zr2? In the market but cant seem to find any differences
It would be nice if GM offered a v8 option for the canyon. Oh, let's go with a mmmmmmmm 6.2 hint, hint.🤔🤔😏😏✌️✌️
What trail did you all use for this video? I am in upstate SC.
The big one here would be Uwharrie, which is my guess. However, I am not able to recognize it.
Looks like someone confirmed its Hurricane Gap.
@@Aurelian57 but Uwharrie isnt "above Asheville". Doesnt look like Hurricane Creek. Just wondering where they were.

I wanted a gmc canyon and my neighbor is a die hard General Motors guy and he traded the gmc canyon for a GMC SUV BECAUSE HE HAD LOTS OF PROBLEMS SO I WANTED TO BUY THE OLDER ONE WITH THE 5 CYLINDER BUT THEY APPARENTLY HAVE EVEN MORE PROBLEMS AND I DONT WANT TO BUY A NEW ONE SO NO MID SIZE TRUCK FOR ME
