That might be true, but sometimes a big truck isn’t worth the trouble, especially in crowded urban areas. Just because it’s bigger doesn’t mean it’s better. Buy the right tool for the job.
I agree. However, if you compare a 2024 mid size pickup with a 2013 full size pickup truck, they’re pretty much the same, meaning trucks are getting bigger every year.
Tom, I beg you to stop posting premiere notifications! Please! They do nothing for subscribers who will already see your new video in their subscribers feed. Non subscribers are not going to see it so you’re only annoying your loyal followers. Keep doing it and I’m out.

@@DrivenCarReviews I have no doubt RUclips wants you to use their features. But what is good for RUclips is not always good for your audience. It bothers me (and most, I suspect) because it pollutes my subscription feed with garbage in the same way shorts do.
My only real criticism of small to midsized trucks is usually the seating position. I drove a last gen Colorado and it was like sitting in bath tub. It's an odd thing to describe until you sit in a full sized truck, then sit in a mid sized one
This looks really good, I would certainly consider this over the others in the segment. Great job GM, Martin and Tom! By this time next year they will be discounted $10k and/or 0% financing.
Beautiful truck. Funny thing is, when I see these pricey 4X4's on the road, increasingly decked out with all sorts of aftermarket equipment, they all look suspiciously clean. Why is that?
My doctor has a Jeep Gladiator all tricked out with overlanding equipment. And it’s always filthy. Because he really uses it. Very hard. He’s very cool.
Great review and nice truck. GM did a solid job on the design. The price is crazy, though. If that new turbo 4 is reliable, they might have a winner here. GM does not have a good history with turbo 4s. First generation vehicles always require a leap of faith.
The GMC AT4 is to the AT4X, what Chevy's Trail Boss is to the ZR2. What's nice about the AT4, it looks just like the AT4X and has same engine tuning, but doesn't have locking diffs or other bells and whistles. The Trail Boss on the other hand, has a different front end grill and interior compared to the ZR2, and the engine doesn't have as good torque as ZR2. I love the look of the AT4X but with same capabilities as the ZR2, it's hard to justify paying $8k to $10k more. If I had money to burn, I'd forsure get the AT4X :)
There’s been a number of articles lately, saying that, for the most part vehicles have remained about the same adjusted for inflation. So there’s that.
Nice video. Really like the exterior of the new Canyons and Colorados but wish the interior would have more non-black options (like gray or beige). Was hoping for just the regular AT4 review because I've got to believe that's going to be the volume seller and has most of the features people will want but at a less price, but I understand you get what you get from the manufacturers. I think the AT4X is going to have limited appeal to those that really go hard off-roading because of size and price.
Any mid-size truck above 40k doesn't make any sense. Because for 45k up you can get a full size Ram 1500 or Chevy Silverado. Then, if you save a little more you can get a full size with more features.
And the old technology of leaf springs instead of coils... No use for rock rails here in Louisiana. That should be a option. Terrible fuel mileage compared to the Tacoma,Nissan and others. Ugly white which will turn brown or black for touching and dust. So if touchscreen goes out, no lights?
My first Tacoma 95' lasted for 475,000 miles. Although the 2.7l four banger was exhausted the entire half million miles. But, with 4000 mile oil changes and proper service of the transmission it never broke...not once. Also, with the anemic engine, all the rest of the drive line didn't have much to worry about. The look and comfort of the GMC is about my favorite, but, will it last like a Toyota? And why is it that GMC and the rest cannot build something like the Tacoma on the reliability end of things. It's a hard choice, but at least the Toyota now looks very comfortable and a bit more fast.
Well, if you’re thinking about buying something for us, I would be happy with a Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo GTS. I’m kind of wondering if Martin wants a new pick up.
Gm moving the lights into the infotainment is dangerous and going to cost lives, I live in Alaska, having rapid access to lights is a necessity. Completely turned me off.....And white leather in an off roader?? Whhhyyy?? Whoever designed that clearly never goes outside. This truck is really designed for city folk, this thing would be dumb to take into the wilderness. Love all your videos, much love from Alaska 🙂
I am curious why you think it’s dangerous. What do you do with the switches that needs to be operated quickly? Also, it’s not like the touchscreen buttons are much slower. It’s pinned to the top of the screen. You don’t have to go into a menu to operate it.
Oh hI Tom, I wasn't expecting such a rapid reply. Hope you are doing well these days, been watching your videos for many years. So to explain, for those of us in dark places like here in Alaska, being able to keep your eyes on the road and switch lights on and off quickly can be the difference between life and death. Between the weather, volcanic ash, avalanches, extreme fog, our brutal winding roads, the sun thats always at an odd angle, sudden whiteouts, and especially the wild life, as well as signaling to others with your lights about wildlife, you really need to look ahead and not at a screen. Distracted driving now costs more lives than drunk driving. However, my biggest reason is that I already know a guy who had a head on collision in his new silverado while trying to figure out the lights. He had been a chevy guy for 43 years. Went straight to the Ford dealership after the accident. Just food for thought. Have a wonderful rest of your week Tom. Love all your videos. You convinced me to get a Ridgeline. Much love and respect from Alaska. 🙂
Fan of the channel! Re transplant back to the PNW and will be turning in my f150 at the end of my lease. Love your input on vehicles. Which is better? The current GMC Canyon or this new Ranger?? A lot of the dealerships in the Seattle area don’t have them yet. The new Ranger that is.
All Colorados and Canyons have an 11.3-inch infotainment display. The Colorado ZR2, Canyon Denali and AT4X get an 11-inch driver information display, and the others have an 8-inch driver information display.
I would be happy with a mid size truck if it could comfortably sit adults in the front with rear facing carseats in the back. They should make a model or trim with more room in the cab. I'd buy it over a full size truck because you end up shelling out a lot more just to have a happy amount of space in the back.
GM could've made this trim stand out a little more from the rest of the lineup. Other than a slight lift and chunky tires, it looks identical to every other new Canyon trim.
I’ve seen reviews mention loose panels on the doors and shoddy alignment of the rear sliding window - did you notice any of that? Love these trucks and waiting for one myself
@@DrivenCarReviews yep, not hypermiling or going the speed limit too much either, 21 mpg on now 1500 miles. Not hauling anything or 4 wheeling either yet, did change the oil myself at 500 miles m1
Chevron 87 I did remove the resonator on mine too, & the muffler, & being a Flowmaster fan put a 40 series on it, it was too quiet. Oh another option you have to check on the sheet - red seatbelts $50 (& your videos are great).
The other two you have to check on the build sheet being sunroof & underbody cameras, both you'd mentioned. Thanks DrivenCarReviews, I've watched a handful of your videos now, good stuff.

I can't believe they stuck all that white padding exactly where filthy hands are going to touch. Beautiful truck ❤

Nice truck. Unfortunately, small trucks are becoming so expensive that for a few thousand more, you can move up to a full size.

This is the same engine that's been in the Sierra/1500 since 2019, so the engine at least isn't new.

Much nicer interior than the COs. I guess the AEV version is like the CO Bison.
Loved your message about status, Tom. So needed in today's world
Vehicles in general have become really expensive, so while this price shocks me, it kind of falls in line with what’s going on.
There’s been a number of articles lately, saying that, for the most part vehicles have remained about the same adjusted for inflation. So there’s that.
Range Rover Defenders really speak to me. The problem is that I know I'll be swearing back at it shortly after buying it.

That interior fabric selection is hideous. White fabric in a truck? Very bad idea.
FYI, it is not fabric. It’s synthetic leather. Which should hold up OK but yeah, white is definitely going to show dirt.
Unfortunately, none of you are going to buy this high price tag
Ya no thanks I’ll keep my TRX monster !
The G80 rear locker is NOT a limited slip.
