The dragonfruit in this video was probably imported from Vietnam, because they mostly produce the white flesh variant and they do taste quite tangy toward the end. The Malaysian ones have bright pink flesh, and they taste very, very sweet.
The pink /purple flesh dragon fruit is more round in shape. And it tastes much sweeter compared the white flesh dragon fruit. One of my favorite fruits 👍🏻😋
Durian is King of the fruit and Mangosteen is the queen of the fruit. Body heat up after eats durian but body cool down after eats mangosteen.. that's why they are the king and the queen.

There is also one kind of fruit that looks similar to jackfruit or nangka, which is cempedak. The difference between them is the outer skin of cempedak is not pointy as jackfruit. And it is tasty to be made as fritters.
When your sister said the rambutan is too much work to eat, at first I was like, reallyyy?...but then I remember everytime we had like a bunch of them on our table, normally they went untouched as well...until mom peeled and put them in the chiller. Then only they'd finish like a hotcakes lol.. So maybe the sister is right 😆😆😆
This was a really cute video. Miriam, i know some malaysians cant stand durians either so ure alright..and its cool that u were game to try! Btw im also too lazy to break the rambutans too. I will definitely make sure Miriam sees your comment! And that is a great idea to open a lot of rambutan at once and keep them ready to eat in the fridge!! Zaden will love that, I will have to do that!!
Here are some of my favourite local fruits famous in Malaysia.. 1. Durian 2. Manggis (mangosteen) 3. Nangka (jackfruit) 4. Cempedak 5. Mata Kucing (fresh longan) 6. Rambutan 7. Pulasan 8. Ciku (sapodilla) 9. Limau bali (pomelo) 10. Langsat (lanzones) 11. Jambu air (water apple/watery rosy apple) 12. Jambu batu (common guava) 13. Mangga (mango) 14. Betik (papaya) 15. Belimbing (star fruit) 16. Buah kedondong (june plum) 17. Durian Belanda (soursop) 18. Buah Naga (Dragon Fruit/Pitaya) 19. Pisang Kaki (persimmon) 20. Pisang Emas (lady finger banana) 21. Nenas (pineapple) Perhaps the Kumaar Family can try out these fruits. Have a great day!
1. NANGKA: We only boil the seed of cempedak, not nangka. Wash the cempedak seeds. Boil with a pinch of salt. When soft inside, peel the outer skin (there are 2 skins: the translucent and the brown). Peel the translucent ones. Caution: if you ever found cempedak, oil your hands with cooking oil generously before peeling. Including taking out the fruits from the pods. Another tip: after peeling the jackfeuit from the pod, what is left are the fleshy "tentacles" attached strongly to the skin. Separate these tentacles from the skin, and can be cooked as vegetable. You need to search for this special recipe. A local delicacy by itself. 2. MANGOSTEEN: If you wanna cut mangosteen, cut at the circumference partly and take out just the skin. You'll get a very presentable mangosteen. The skin of the mangosteen has very high antioxidant. Juice it, strain it, boil it and drink it. Add sugar to sweeten. 3. DRAGONFRUIT: Cut dragonfruit lengthwise into 4. Slowly peel the thick skin, and you'll get the flesh. The better tasting dragonfruit is when the flesh is magenta in color. So, at the market, ask for purple dragonfruit. Purple dragonfruit has high antioxidant too. Caution: the magenta flesh leaves washable magenta stains on cloth and on many things it touches, and when you do your "big business", you'll have magenta poop. By the way, when you scoop dragon fruit straight, you might accidentally scoop the purple inner skin which can be a tad bit bitter. 4. RAMBUTAN: Altho many would bite open a rambutan skin, I'd rather use my fingers/nails to peel it open. Biting it leaves a bitter taste on your teeth. Or like the mangosteen, cut at the skin along the circumference, and slowly peel the skin. There is another layer of the rambutan which you might encounter pending on the age and type of rambutan. When biting the flesh, you sometimes bite the skin of the pit/seed. And this brown colored seed skin may stick to the flesh. Some just swallow them, some prefers to peel that inner skin to avoid coughing as the skin might tickle your esophagus and caused you to cough. 5. DURIAN: best to eat mangosteen after you eat durian to help you to cool you down. By nature, durian season coincides with mangosteen season. But now, people plant durians all year round and personally I feel it has disturb the cycle of nature.

I had the same sentiment as the guy when I 1st tried out Durian too.... but then a year later I get to smell the same fruit again and I started thinking "You know what? I don't find that fruit to be as offensive as I thought at 1st. I might give it another try..." the second I have another try on Durian, bam! that's when I became a fan.
The mangosteen taste really good if you eat it right after you pluck it.. And for your information.. Durian had a different kind of taste.. Some can be creamy.. Some can be sweet.. Some can be a lil bitter.. It's like you open a mystery treasure box.. You wouldn't know unless you taste it..
Hi Logesh. Do you mind putting down the prices you pay for these fruits in the US? Click CC to Malay, then found that North Carolina becomes Carolina Selatan.
I have comments on how you open the mangosteen and the rambutan, because usually, (in my family at least), we open them with our hands. For the mangosteen, you clasp your fingers together and put the fruit in between your palms, and then squeeze. This will split the outer shell and you can get to the fruit within. For the rambutan, you hold it in two hands and twist the outer skin apart, like wringing a towel. However, it will hurt your hands if you do it too much, so maybe using your teeth might be a better way.
@@KumaarFamily thought so, months frozen on a large container kut. hilang dah rasa. n i think the durian there kinda toned down too kut kan? kalau x, memang satu County declare gas leak ahahaha

The durian is the most expensive fruit in Malaysia and probably the entire universe. However, if you do acquire the taste in future, you'd mortgage your house just so you can buy more and more of the fruit. And it would be worth it!!! 😅

I'd love to try Durian, Rambutan & Mangosteen. I love Jackfruit & Dragon fruit. I thought the Sister acted like a baby....but that's just my opinion. I really don't have a problem with texture, so I'd probably do well with Durian. Good video!

I love it! No need for the condensed milk at all haha
Yes it is kinda like a kiwi, but there is also a purple type which is more sweet usually compared to the white. But beware of the colouring as it is hard to get it off your clothings.
I believe fresh fruit in malaysia tastes 3 times better than fruit sold in stores there ... We do not know how long it takes to sell the fruit .. that's why it tastes a bit strange/weird... Durian fruits are an acquired taste. Even some Malaysians don't like them. What more Americans? But Rachel is well adapting to all these tastes. Zaden😍loves rambutans. Good for u Kumaar. Lots of love to u n yr family🥰
The dragon fruit or pitaya is native to central america. Vietnam started it long ago (abt 100years ago?). In Malaysia it started like 20 years ago. The purplish red variety is much nicer compared to the white ones. I like cutting it horizontal.
Malaysian juga masak buah nangka yang separuh masak jadi sayur..contoh masak curry ikan atau ayam campur nangka..Dan lain2.. Dragon fruit ice cream Dari ranau Sabah Malaysia adalah terbaik dalam dunia
Ya, we just use our hands to open up mangosteens; just place the fruit between your palms and pop it up😊...and, I personally prefer dragonfruits with the red flesh. I was told they are local while the ones with white flesh are from Vietnam. Not sure if that's accurate. Just from experience, the red flesh ones are sweeter (much nicer). Also, don't know if you have honey jackfruit there.
Plenty of whites in Thailand too. Just realised that when I was in Bangkok last year. The Thailand ones are fat like the red dragon fruit, but it's white. Its taste is between the red (Malaysia) and the white (Vietnam)
I know Durian is hard to take for 1st timer. But there is also Malaysian who actually cant go near Durian hahahha. Of goz we like to tease them. Its my fav always. Thanks for the video
Why they don't know about the dragon fruit or pitaya? Gardeners in America propagate it too. The Amarica Delight Dragon Fruit variety is so popular among the collectors of dragon fruit round the wold including me. Haha By the way nice video...
Oh yes, you can definitely boil jackfruit seeds and they taste quite good actually. Never tasted fingerling potatoes so I can't say if they taste the same. It seems that they're quite nutritious too - www.healthline.com/nutrition/jackfruit-seeds As for mangosteen, don't ever wipe the purplish sap of the fruit on your hands onto any light colored clothes. The stains will be pain to wash out.
can i just say that,,i am a Malaysian, and its nothing wrong really for them to cut the mangosteen? I know here we dont cut them we simply use our hands but..its up to them on how they cut it right?
I never get bored watching people react to durian. Good or bad, it's always funny.

I hope everyone hates durians so only me can enjoy eating them 🥰😂
Use your hand grip to open the mangosteen... And the seed of jackfruit you can dip in the flour mix and fry it.. It's nice to try..
She said it tastes like poo? Omggg I wonder who's poo she tried. Omg she literally ate poo. These people need to be open minded to try new flavours of fruits. Its just fruit nothing bad about it, its just new to you.
Chill dude 😅😅
@@onyx2734 its just annoying that they said it tastes like poo. So they literally tried shit before? #whitelogic
One suggestion I'd make: Try blending half of a dragon fruit with a can of lychee (including the syrup) and lots of ice cubes.
I'd love to try Durian, Rambutan & Mangosteen. I love Jackfruit & Dragon fruit.
I thought the Sister acted like a baby....but that's just my opinion.
I really don't have a problem with texture, so I'd probably do well with Durian. Good video!
just want ti share, you can known how many ulas (white one that u eat) in mangosteen / manggis when u count the petal of the small flower at the bottom of the fruit.
My Canadian friend says rambutan is hairy grape because it's pure sweet.😄😄
Greetings from Malaysia. Awesome videos guys.
That's why..
Durians = King of all fruits!
❤❤❤ I LOVE DURIAN!!! ❤❤❤
I'm excited to Rachel introduce some American food us. Ps I love you all 😍

Masak mee kari dengan tahu goreng, fish cake, taugeh, spring onion, bawang goreng, cili jeruk...tiba2 en hahah aku yg craving mee kari ni sebenarnya
Wow I wonder why they describe all those fruits which different from my description😂...no wonder some said that the fruit tastes good in its own country
Edited: here in Malaysia the strawberries taste so sour and I barely eat them without condensed milk..but, when I tasted the strawberries in Australia it tastes more sweet and a bit sour!
Hope one day kumaar family can bring all they family and friends come to Malaysia to tasted all malaysian food, fruits and Sneak😊

(sorry for my bad English)
Durian fruits are an acquired taste. Even some Malaysians don't like them. What more Americans? But Rachel is well adapting to all these tastes. Zaden😍loves rambutans. Good for u Kumaar. Lots of love to u n yr family🥰
Durians are definitely an acquired taste, but glad that our friends and family are willing to try something new! And thanks so much!
So cute... Zaden with his favourite fruit. Rambutan... Rambutan... Rambutan..
The dragon fruit or pitaya is native to central america. Vietnam started it long ago (abt 100years ago?). In Malaysia it started like 20 years ago. The purplish red variety is much nicer compared to the white ones. I like cutting it horizontal.
Oh never knew that, that’s so interesting!
If I were eating the dragon fruit, I would eat it with susu pekat manis or yogurt 🤩
Haha
By the way nice video...
I love durian SO much!! It is my favourite fruit!!
Very calm brother in law
He is a very calm guy!
You don't bite the rambutan's hairy skin. Just squeeze the center with both hands of thumb and index fingers to open it in half.
I guess we’re too impatient and just want to eat it as fast as possible 😂
You guys are bless with good husband. Bless!
this is for the ingglish i love durian this is malaysia aku suka durian
Kumar , make cucur nangka for them😂 that'll be so fun ,trust me
Oh yes, you can definitely boil jackfruit seeds and they taste quite good actually. Never tasted fingerling potatoes so I can't say if they taste the same. It seems that they're quite nutritious too - www.healthline.com/nutrition/jackfruit-seeds
As for mangosteen, don't ever wipe the purplish sap of the fruit on your hands onto any light colored clothes. The stains will be pain to wash out.
U both r awesome. Glad I found u on U Tube👍🏻💕.
Aww thank you!!
Dragon fruit tuh letak dalam peti ais, makan sejuk2 fuhh sedapp
They are 2 types of dragon fruit. White & red. The red 1 is the sweet 1. White 1 rarely have sweet taste. Mostly sour sweet
can i just say that,,i am a Malaysian, and its nothing wrong really for them to cut the mangosteen? I know here we dont cut them we simply use our hands but..its up to them on how they cut it right?
7:55 Malaysia National fruit is PAPAYA Anna.. love your Videos
