This show was performed in Shanghai, China. Thanks ComedyCorner for having me and Ian Badenhorst for filming it.
Thanks everyone for leaving such kind comments!

You are pretty funny!
You are very funny! Nice bit!
Were doing great at the start, kind of lost me a bit at the coupon bit. Just honest feedback, may not be true for everyone though.
Ohmegoodness! The coupon bit cracked me up. The only thing missing was the refence to garnering bad luck from being too greedy/cheap. 😅 Plenty to be proud of! ♡Loved it.
It was FUNNY 😂 Thanks for uploading it give me some nostalgia thanks 😊
She's hilarious! Can't believe this was a free show, that's unreal. Hope she has a long and successful career!
I agree!
Agreed!
In China, there is no free show... somehow, you paid for it... wait for it.

Funny!!
the subtitles to explain the 4 vowels part, HIGHLY appreciated, loved the whole video !
100%
They're not vowels, they're tones. There are four tones in Mandarin, it's tonal. The same vowel Ma is pronounced four different ways: flat, rising, declining and u shaped toned!!!
English has tones, too - you just have to think about all the different ways you can use the F-word. ;)
@@weekendpartier Thai language has 5 different tones as well. The same word for a dog is the same for horse, but of course with a different tone! It also is a difficult language.
@@kevkoala Yeah, my Thai wife would run through the five tones of a word, then run through them in reverse, and I could not tell the difference forward or backward.
I'm glad she did this whole routine in English while filming it in Shanghai so I could appreciate it. This was really good. Hope to see more from her.
I am an English/Irish guy, my wife is Taiwanese and we have lived together in Taiwan for 11 years. I watched this because of the title. We both laughed so much, as we can totally relate to it. Thank you so much. I have subscribed and I am looking forward to laughing with you even more.😂
I don't know how this came in my feed but you girl stop calling yourself amature, you nailed it like a retired comedian. Every line is a punchline. This is so fresh, new and fantastic!!! ❤️ From India 🙌
Yes this is a professional level comedy set! I am sure she will have her own special very soon.
You're correct man, and I don't flatter.
Oh, and smart husband, especially at the end. LOL

"like a retired comedian"... is that sort of in the FoConchrds "part time model" vein?
As a Irish American who studied in China, these jokes really hit 😂

Pure class, and from an Irishman! Thats a wicked sense of humor there, and you got a good handle on what it means to be Irish. Keep up the great work, you gave me a right giggle today!
Still hilarious 2 years later! Thank You! 🤣
"I told you to marry a RICH guy!"
"Awww, my bad. I thought you said 'IRISH guy'... You shouldn't speak with an accent when giving me marital advice, ma!"
She must be a dumb kid. She shoulda known better. Don't insult a mom.
Either that or this gotta be a really bad script. SH and CH are too distinctable too be funny.

My Chinese daughter-in-laws mother was rather disapproving of the relationship with my son because he was younger than her daughter. Until he got a lucrative new job... then it was "when you getting married? " LOL!
😂
Considering she's your daughter-in-law, looks like your son married her after all!
What does he do
Lol Chinese parents always want to make sure their kids are with good partners and taken care of.
It’s understandable, poverty is real and we need love to be happy but we need money to live.
One of the best stand up comic performance I've ever seen. This was fresh. Too often the jokes are focusing awkwardly on genitals and sex and that's stupid and boring. Thank you Dawn.
Her sense of humour is top notch, pure natural... 👌
I'm a Chilean English teacher living in Tianjin. This is what I've been looking for! Chinese stand up comedy - I know it's not in Chinese completely but it helps to understand culture and I can relate to some of your stories. Thanks for uploading!

YES
I am Chinese, first time in this channel, I really love the jokes, i mean I don’t have a foreign partner but the jokes are so related. I laughed so hard😂
Thats what happened to me. Shes truly funny. I hate when I look for funny stand up and all I hear are cuss words no real jokes. I wasnt looking for comedy this time and this popped up so gladi clicked on it
I got taken here completely randomly today. I was not expecting to laugh so much.
FAAAAAACTS!
That was a very clean set. Usually female comedians arent this funny. That "ma" joke was hilarious
"I married an Irish guy."
"Oh, really?"
"No, O'Reilly."
The last joke about Bargaining was absolutely perfect, It had me cracking up the whole time. My aunty used to bargain like that all the time when we went shopping.
My wife is from hong kong she tries to bargain everything all the time. She is a savage.
Indians do too
That is truely indonesian thing when they do bargaining in the traditional market.
Walk away slowly and waiting to be called back 😆
The guy was secretly anti vacc , is the reality behind the story tho 😅
Her> "It's so small that sometimes we'd be driving out for like 4 hours and there is a donkey in the middle of the road."
Me, a Belgian> "What? You can drive for like 4 hours and still be in the country?"
:grins: I thought that too ... so I Googled the size of Ireland and, if you drove slow, you could do it :D

You made me laugh so hard, you're naturally hilarious ,"O mom I thought to marry Irish guy!"
That was a really good punchline lol
I said same
I'm British and my wife is from Guangzhou, China. You split my sides 😂 brilliantly executed. Please take my money, we are coming to your show!!!
I will try to remember Dawn Wang because that's all I can hope for at my age. She can tell a story with great timing & she's mastered the pause. She's really relatable & on point with all the obserdities like the Irish guy with good English. She hits the spot for me if only I can remember her name when I have the Yen.

Loved this clip! You are hysterical...Your timing is amazing
This is genuinely hilarious! Lol the wedding speech makes sense now
That's what I thought 😂👍🏾
I just saw that video yesterday... when youtube algorithm works
I was pretty sure she was a comedian based on that wedding speech and a good one!
The situation when something is not funny.. U have to comment to "make others believe" It's funny..🤣
Is this like "ho let me support her just bcz she is a female" or is dis a paid advertisement?
@@joshuajames1998 Not sure what's up with you? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean no one is capable of enjoying it... Definitely when something is geared more towards Chinese audiences
Actually this pretty good. I can see she has a thorough line with her jokes, she just doesn't spit them out. She should keep going in her comedy.
Amazing, I just came here out of the blue and I like it. You have such a good talent!
Thank you for making me laugh.

wow! I'm not Chinese, but this made me smile and laugh all throughout.
Good material. Great delivery. Love the confidence. All the best to you.
Very funny. As far as being influenced by your partner, it sounds like you’re more Irish than he is Chinese. The Irish know how to pick on each other!
"Taking the piss" and "slagging" is our National pastime ...
@@3storiesUp my mom’s from Galway, so I know the routine 😂
This is her way of getting back at her husband. 😂🤣
The bargaining is definitely an Irish thing too
@@HimWitDaHair98 and Chinese! That's why her punchline "I was so proud of him" was so great :-)
Hey Dawn, you're a natural comedian, you've great rhythm and every line was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh!
As an American having lived and worked in China for nearly a decade. Also married to a Chinese, my wife taught me how to haggle at the ladies market with the most ruthless of Da Jies!! Your material brings back many fond memories of my years abroad. : ) Wishing you great success in your comedy endeavors!!
I saw your wedding speech - excellent. And this was a really good set too. obviously it was geared toward a Chinese audience but still funny for me. I used to do standup myself, and I can say you are really good! By the way, 40 years ago in college, my friend tried to explain ma ma ma ma and I could never hear the difference! Apparently my mother is a horse.
😂
So, the rising tone Má, in pinyin. I think of the line that shows the tone, as grass growing out of the ground for HEMP. It sounds like a ❓
"Do you have má?"
Mā Is like a American kid calling for his mom to get her attention.
"Mom! Ma! Mama!" So, it's a higher whiney pitch for me.
Mǎ
I think of a person sitting on a saddle. Since there is curve on the back of a horse, this Mǎ, reminds me that there's a fall and a rise in the tone.
And mà, for the 4th tone, is like when you dropped your food that you've been craving all day, because a fucker didn't stop at a red light and you exclaim:
"DAMN!" WITH FORCE.
So 👇 goes the tone with force
I'm a student of the Chinese language and this is what helped me to remember MA.
Is she the one with the wedding speech of “too late to run away when on the aisle” lady?
That’s because you haven’t got a right teacher.

as a foreigner (UK) that has learned/studied Chinese for 5 years, lived in China for 2 and graduated with a first-class in a Chinese based course, I can with CONFIDENCE say that my tones are still dogshit and I accept that xD. She's my favourite female comedian now. She is really funny, but with no bitter side-flavour, no vengefulness, or unnecessary harshness.

You are better than a lot other stand up comedians, oh my tears…
That counting part was relatable, when I was in China, I absolutely loved this concept of counting in one hand. 😅
PS : For me too all the 4 tones sounded the same. 😂😂😂
I could discern the different tones (probably because I’m a musician) but I bet I’d have a *much* harder time if I was trying to learn Chinese and the tones were coming at me in a larger mix than just the same syllable repeated 4 times.
@@howlinhobbit Absolutely. When I was learning Chinese these 4 tones were so similar that I accepted my failure in the subject in a very early stage. 😅😂
I can totally understand the tone thing. I am Filipino and we have this sort of thing in our language too, the famous one being "Bababa ba?" which means "Is there anyone alighting the vehicle?"
Cantonese has 9 tones.
It does driving me gone crazy even more because just a tiny slight slip of pronunciation, meaning goes off like a Milky Way galaxy ROFL
nooo as a language student... the lesson is Invaluable. need to repeat One Thousand Times.... each "tone".
Great set from Dawn and her wedding speech is a classic. When the Chinese tennis star Li Na won the Australian Open major tennis title in 2014 she delivered an unexpectedly funny acceptance speech. It's worth checking out. She provided her husband with some "feedback" in the same manner as Dawn.
What's with the "Ireland is small" vibe? On one of her first visits to Ireland my Canadian sister-in-law commented "Gee....your country is so small it could fit into one of our lakes".
With this bit, you won't be amateur for long! Great stuff!
