My great grandmother survived the Holocaust. She was one of the strongest, loveliest people I’ve ever met. No matter what happened in her life she didn’t let it dull her light and still loved with all of her heart. She came here to the United States with nothing but the clothes on her back, and when she passed in 2016 she left a HUGE family behind who loved her so much. She left a legacy. We miss you, Omi, Rose Meyer ❤️
God bless her!!! After going through what she went through, I’m sure there wasn’t anything that got to her!! After living in Hell and then Living a normal life. That was a blessing. Bless her and all of your family
Forgive me for saying this but i envy you for having the great grandmother that you did. I'm sure she was stronger than any other person who have or probably will meet. Really, you really want to make the case that Nazi Germany was worse then the Soviet Union ? Have you ever heard of the kulaks ? The Soviet Union seized the land from ukrainian farmers they deemed opressive and killed thousands of them. You know what happened because of that ? 6 million ukrainians died of starvation, things got so bad they started eating themselfs and the goverment had to remind it's citizens that it was wrong to eat their children. During soviet regime they estimate something around 20~80 million deaths happened.
Please, why are you talking about Ukrain only? My grandmother lived in Saratov area (Volga) - have you ever heard about starving in Volga region? This guys came to my school and this is an experience he had..it's so sad.. He was waiting in line to go to the camp. He found his brother his aunt his family ect... His aunt has a baby and didn't want her baby to get taken away from her so him and his brother had an idea. There idea was that she can pretend she's breast feeding because they thought they would never take a breast feeding mother away from her baby and stuff. Well when it was her turn they snatched the baby away from her and she cried and screamed and tried running after it. One nazi got the baby and took it and the other was holding the aunt back. She finally got through and took her baby back but the nazi took it back and the other nazi came from behind her and hit her with a gun..she was on the floor and her last words were "let my baby go" in a slight whisper ish kinda voice. She died then and there and the man speaking said he was glad she died so that she wouldn't have seen what they were gonna do to the baby. The nazi threw the baby up in the air..caught it's leg and slammed it against a rock. Sad. Him and his brother watched it all.

It's really disappointing that the Russians don't get the same appreciation for liberating more than the half of Europe from the Germans, as America does. Yeah they replaced it with another regime, but still, in my opinion they still deserve more appreciation than they get
I'm from Poland and believe me they get as much appreciation in history book as a they deserve right between holodmora and Katyn Believe me there's a reason why people who they "liberated" consider them as bad (if not worse just because they stick around longer) as Nazi
History is written by the Victor's. War crimes were committed from the nazis to the soviets to the Americans and British. But the good guys were forgiven. Only problem is after the war the soviets became the enemy, so they had to be vilified. So unfortunately the soviet people get the least recognition despite having the largest contribution. That "we are free" got me
Who in their right mind would dislike this video!?!? What a great story! I wish for his sake and all the millions who suffered during the Holocaust did not have to suffer such horrible things. It is very inspirational to hear their stories of survival and strength in the most horrible of times on this Earth. I really hope and pray that future generations do not forget what can happen when radical beliefs and values take hold of a nation.
i cant figure out why people are disliking this, it it is making me sad like why are you hating on this elder person makes no scene.
anti-semitism
seerpou well then keep it to your self this man had a hard life. jeez
@@madilynmeyer3737 im saying people who are disliking this are clearly anti-semites

Why would anyone want to give this video a thumbs down ? Where your humanity
I can't imagine the relief they had when the soldier told them that...
This old guy is adorable. I was cheering him on in my head at the end of his speech as he got a bit choked up. Best wishes to him and his family
I don't believe it.
@@shimmer4771 so?
I want to give these people a huge hug and everything they love. I wish there was a way to show them their loved ones
This is so emotional... I am fretful for his testimony, humbled by his experience, and ferocious protective of the truth of this. The deniers are the protectors of the perpetrators.
imagine telling this man your problems
I honestly think it'd be therapeutic. He wouldn't act like your problems aren't valid, and he knows what it's like to be hated or abused
That man had pride in how he presented himself.
The feeling of being of clean, is just so heavily.
I just want to hug him now 😢😢
Who ever dislikes this vid is a monster he was crying that he got his first hot shower in a year! Bless his ❤️

Seeing him cry.. tugged my heart. I have a soft spot for old people. 😭😭😭😭😭
We think of our daily problems and how bad we think we have it. Imagine what these poor people went through. I go through this mental exercise every day and it really grounds me. It keeps me humble and grateful for everything I have.

Bless this man🙏🙏🙏he has been through so much
dude, I had to watch this video for my school assignment and now I'm crying. I did not plan this.
Wow a video from BuzzFeed worth watching!
It's really disappointing that the Russians don't get the same appreciation for liberating more than the half of Europe from the Germans, as America does. Yeah they replaced it with another regime, but still, in my opinion they still deserve more appreciation than they get
Marjolein Z even though The Soviet Union was the one who liberated them not The United States the Soviets also got to Berlin first.
I'm from Poland and believe me they get as much appreciation in history book as a they deserve right between holodmora and Katyn
Believe me there's a reason why people who they "liberated" consider them as bad (if not worse just because they stick around longer) as Nazi
@@marcinkrz3140 Poles are salty, lmao
History is written by the Victor's. War crimes were committed from the nazis to the soviets to the Americans and British. But the good guys were forgiven. Only problem is after the war the soviets became the enemy, so they had to be vilified. So unfortunately the soviet people get the least recognition despite having the largest contribution. Tis is life.
@@Jafes2011 'Salty lmao'? The USSR murdered and deported millions from all over eastern Europe. Touch some grass.

Being german, i was able to listen to a Holocaust survivor earlier this year and i must say, that i am so touched by everything they say and they experienced, i admire their strenght to talk about both, the worst moments and best moments in their life without completely breaking down. listening to him was one oft the most interesting things i Ever witnessed and i am so Glad to be part of the last Generation that is able to hear stuff like this.

DrDub, because there are people who deny the genocide.
I closed my eyes and felt that anguish dropping from his words .....and the disbelief with joy when he said "we are free"............. Sir May God keep you safe from all bad things. 🍀🍀💌🙏🙏
I can't even imagine the horror that these people went through. Videos like this make me feel grateful for everything I have and grateful that my ancestors didn't have to endure this horrific torture because they lived in a neural country. Some of my ancestors joined the British army and the American one. From what I can remember 4 of my family joined these two armies, 2 in each and none of them survived the war.
I wanted to cry sooo bad, when I was listening to him :((((
You survived sir and son. I’m glad you are here and for those who were liberated
