  • You guys asked, so I delivered! Here's an in-depth comparison of my Honda Rebel 500 and my manual Honda Rebel 1100! This video focuses on the size differences between the bikes, any appearance differences, any fit & finish differences, etc. I even sat on both the Rebel 500 and the Rebel 1100 so you could see how I fit on each bike! I'll make another video in the future talking about the performance/riding differences between the two Rebels.
Thanks for watching, and be sure to follow me on Instagram for more daily stuff! @Life.Of.Burch

Its nice that you have low gas prices there... Here in India, we might have to sell a kidney to buy the bike, then would have to sell the house to buy gas for it to run daily🙂

The 1100 looks like a bike you buy and ride. The 500 seems more like a blank canvas that encourages you upgrade and modify

Just a minor correction for anyone watching this currently. The 2021 500 has a more updated display that includes a gear indicator, different options for mileage/trip meters, your MPG, ect. The only thing it seems to be missing compared against the 1100 is the tachometer.

Excellent review and comparison! I have a 2020 rebel 300 that I modded out, wrapped the tank, quilted brown seat, end bar mirrors, fender delete and LED strip taillight. No one knows what it is. I think if I didn’t have a 2020 Indian scout bobber I would be tempted to get the 1100. Despite also having a Ducati monster and BMW GS, the rebel 300 is my favourite to ride

Nice comparison video. Finally seen one in person yesterday. Love how Honda kept it simple and similar to the 300/500
Although the front suspension looked almost blue. Hope it doesn’t wear silver.
The gaffing tape, they’ve done 2020 to present. I laughed when the sales guy told me he hated it as it looked unfinished. I love it on my 2020 500.

Love the video! I’m no pro with a camera but just super small critique at around the 5:30 mark… when you’re trying to capture the bike’s display always look at it through your camera’s display, that way you can be sure that we are seeing what you want us to see.
But seriously, love your work. Hope you don’t mind the small suggestion. You always talk about things the way I would rather than spewing metrics and specs all over the place as if you’re a manufacturer published pdf.

Nice video and comparison dude ! Have you noticed that the
front light in the 500 sticks out more than the front light in the 1100 ? The
front light of the Rebel 1100 seems to be recessed between the forks. I think
both the 500 and 1100 are desperately asking for a fairing or batwing to hide
those cables running between the front light and the handle bar !

Good review. 1:27 is the biggest problem this bike has, it doesn't look more expensive or bigger than the 500 unless you really take a close look. I have an Africa so I'm sure the engine will be brilliant, bike will handle well, but it just looks a bit basic for the price. Most non-enthusiasts probably couldn't tell the Rebel 300 from the 1100 if they watched it go by.

Very good comparison. I don’t like the foot peg position for me. I would have to either have forward controls or some Highway pegs. I’m wondering about the LED headlight on the 1100. Have you driven it night away from street lights? I haven’t had much luck with LED headlights on motorcycles. I feel like I’m looking at a picture frame and not much light spread. They are okay in straight line riding but, it can get scary in the curves.

Hey Burch! I have watched all of your videos in the last few months since I decided to buy this Honda Rebel 1100. I’ve done tons of research and watched plenty of RUclips videos on this bike.
However, the one thing I can’t seem to get answered is... is there even an option for an installed security alarm system / engine immobilizer?
I saw a video tutorial on the Rebel 1100 in Japan (all spoken in Japanese) from a Honda dealer in that country... and it had an alarm. I didn’t know if they just Chucked That for the United States model / version bc maybe commuting bikes are perhaps more common in the major cities of Japan and it’s almost a requirement to have an alarm on bikes like the USA is now requiring new model cars to have back-up cameras? Just a thought.
But did your dealer mention anything about an alarm / engine immobilizer option?
Also, do you suppose the T-Rex exhaust sliders you have on the 500 would attach no problem to the 1100? I just ordered them from the T-Rex Racing website. Bought a GoPro Hero9, a Garmin Zumo XT, a Bluetooth modular helmet, and plan to get an engine guard and Vance & Hines exhaust eventually. Any suggestions on any other gadgets / safety gear and bike accessories for comfort that you can put in your upcoming videos would be greatly appreciated! I trust your judgement and your style taste. Thanks so much! So happy I found your channel.

Ive looked at all the comparos of Rebel 500 vs 1100. I have a 500 and love it but the 1100 is compelling for the power and DCT. HOWEVER, I dont want to lose the brilliant, enjoyable small and light bike feel. Need to test ride one. Perhaps an acceptable compromise. (I know the 1100 carries its extra 80 lbs low, only an inch longer, seat height only 1/2 inch higher, but quite a bit wider, etc.).

Will you be getting a exhaust and tune for it? I'm interested in getting one, as I haven't ridden a motorcycle since 2018 when I upgraded my licence. Going to get my full licence this spring and get a bigger bike than my previous 125's

hey Burch! kinda completely unrelated but I was wondering what your true thoughts were on the helmet you use? due to covid, in order to take an msf course you need to bring your own helmet and the bell qualifier was one that I was looking into. I’ve watched your video on what gear you use and I’ve seen a lot of different reviews and I’ve heard it can be very noisy. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on it :)

Hello. Do you think that there is enough space for a passenger in this new model for long trips? Or is as small as 500? Thank you!

With the extra weight, is it still manageable to keep up if it tries to fall over at a standstill? Easy to keep up if it leans to far while sitting?

the only thing I do not like about smaller Hondas is to pop the seat even on my first bike it was done by the key and it was hitched as well and it was a GT100 from Suzuki 1975 model I think it was

How would compare these two bikes to other cruiser types in similar price ranges? Something like the Kawasaki Vulcan S. I'm looking to take a riding course soon and your comments about riding the 500 in windy conditions concern me.

neat! i have the rebel 500, with an orange tank. mine is a 2019 though, unless the dealer lied to me. will that tank fit a 2019? or would it be too wide for the frame? i like that tank. like it might hold 4 gallons, instead of 3 . whatever mine is.

11:40 can you put your on that frame slider? Or they not made for that, I feel like if I got that it’s allow me to stretch my legs out on the highway

Is exhaust header diameter same on both bikes? I'm wondering if Shorty would fit and how it would sounds. I know this is not very appropriate "exhaust" for the 1100, I'm just curious. Maybe you can do this kind of video? :) I also like you have manual transmission. All videos on YT till now are with DCT.

Would a the 1100 dct be a great beginner bike? Or should I just get a manual 500? I’m in favor of an automatic but the power might be a bit much for a total noob.

Def following all ur videos! Currently have a sports bike and looking for a cruiser-ish bike for longer rides and refuse to spend money on H-D. Think I can manage the 1100 comfortably at 5'3" ?

So I'm 5'3 myself and lowered my r6 when I had it so I could flat foot. My buddy just bought the rebel 300 and seat height is 27.3 and I sat on it no problem. I'm looking at the 1100 as well. And it's 27.5" so I don't think it will be an issue at all. Just try to find one at a dealer and sit on it
